Back to fashion

Well… if they looked fierce at the Golden Globes, they shit the bed at the SAG Awards. I wasn’t home to watch the red carpet, and saw very little of the show, but some of the dresses were just heinous. Ellen Pompeo, for one. She killed it at the Globes and looked like.. well.. I can’t even describe what she looked like. It just wasn’t good. She needs to learn the slicked back hair does nothing for her. Anyway, the usual suspects won awards (America Ferrera, Eddie Murphy, Jennifer Hudson, Hugh Laurie), but Little Miss Sunshine upset for Ensemble Cast in a Motion Picture, as did Chandra Wilson for Grey’s Anatomy. She took the time to thank her 10 cast members and “the one in rehab” during her speech. I’d say he’s pretty lucky she mentioned him at all! Grey’s won the best ensemble cast for a drama and The Office won for comedy. Steve Carell was beaten by Alec Baldwin for Thirty Rock, but he ended up with more than one “Actor” thanks to Little Miss Sunshine. The SAGs are usually a pretty good indication of what will happen at the Oscars, but let’s not give Little Miss Sunshine that statuette just yet.

Marcheline Bertrand, mother of Angelina Jolie, succumbed to cancer on Saturday in LA. Angelina, Brad and Angie’s brother James Haven were all present. Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro was euthanized today, after enduring surgery on Saturday. He put up one hell of a fight but it just wasn’t enough and it seems euthanization was the best course of action. I don’t know if euthanization is a word, but I’m going to use it in this context anyway. Is it sad that I wrote more about Barbaro than Angelina Jolie’s mother? Society…

Brandy might be prosecuted for her role in a fatal crash in LA on December 30th. Seems Brandy was traveling a touch (or five) too fast on the highway and neglected to notice the cars in front of her were already stopped. There was no evidence of drugs or alcohol and Brandy was not arrested at the scene. If convicted for Misdemeanor Vehicular Manslaughter, she could see up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Apparently Gideon Yago is leaving MTV for Los Angeles (scroll down the linked site to read the story). Now if only we could get John Norris to leave. How old is he? 80? He looks more ridiculous and queenly every time I see him do the news. Note to John: A heinous blonde dye job does NOT make you look younger.. just more sad. Actually, I like both Gideon Yago and John Norris, but the man has been there for a million years. I don’t think his journalistic integrity is getting any better with those 20 years of one minute snippets on MTV.

In baseball news, apparently Curt Schilling insists he’s not retiring. In other news… who cares?
