It was a crazy night on Big Brother, so much so that Tre and I made them turn it on at Melino's so we wouldn't miss a minute, even though we were pretty sure we knew what the outcome would be. Last night was double elimination night, with the backdooring and subsequent exit of Michelle just the beginning. I think my favorite part was when Julie Chen had to tell her that Dan was not a plant, and is in fact, playing the game. She was sorely disappointed. Fast forward through the week, as Keesha wins HOH and puts up (unsurprisingly) Jerry and Ollie. Dan wins POV and doesn't change the nominations, forcing Ollie to leave by a vote of 3-0 in the quickest exit in BB history. Obviously (unless he wins HOH) Jerry is next week's target and it's gonna get a little sticky after that. However, if Jerry wins HOH, it'll most certainly be every man for himself!

David Duchovny? A sex addict? Granted, I don't have Showtime so I've never seen Californication, but it sure does make me wonder if Duchovny isn't really that great an actor... Who'dve thunk!? Perhaps the truth really is still out there (Come on.. I couldn't help myself)!

Brings the theories of Team LC and Team Heidi to new levels.. Notice which team has more players...

Yeah yeah yeah.. Michael Jackson turns 50 today.. BIG DEAL - cause so does my Uncle Jackie!!! :) He might not have the money, but he sure did get the better end of the deal.. After all, he was born white and stayed that way (and he has me for a niece).

Enjoy your weekends and I'll try to have pics up from the beer tent at the fair. Ah, the joy of small town life...

My 700th Post

Ok.. I know I'm not doing titles, but I think it's pretty amazing that I've reached 700 posts. Kudos to me!

So yesterday, I played hooky and went to the Woodbury Outlets with my mom and sister. It was a kind of uneventful trip, as I basically found nothing that looked REALLY good, and got run over by foreigners and Hasidic Jews pushing their kids in these huge strollers as they went to Aldo to buy their orthopedic shoes. Seriously, what do the Hasidic Jews do to make their money, cause I work and I am certainly not buying my long black skirts at Tommy Hilfiger. Someone enlighten me! I did get a new pair of sneakers though, which are apparently supposed to motivate me to go to the gym, but will more than likely just make them dirty and leave me feeling unfulfilled.

Speaking of fulfillment, I had a McGriddle for breakfast this morning. Considering that I need to go to the gym hard core and stop eating like a fiend or I really WILL get harpooned on my cruise in October, I'm going out full force this weekend. Oh yes... the McGriddle is only the beginning. Two nights of dinner at the fair should satisfy me for a while... Let the corn dogs and gravy fries begin!

Grr... someone SHOULD quit their day job.

Speaking of baseball, apparently Cal has taken ownership of a minor league team in the Tampa Bay franchise and threw out the first pitch in a Rays jersey. Oh yes... everyone's up in arms, but come on! He's not an Oriole anymore and this is BUSINESS! (Ok, he'll always be an Oriole, but you get my drift) If Peter Angelos wanted to sell the team to Cal I'm sure he'd throw out the first pitch every day in full uniform, but he isn't, and Cal's got kids (and hopefully soon a newly 32 year old mistress) to feed. Cut him some slack and don't mess with my man! (thanks for the heads up Rob!) Oh yeah.. the O's start a weekend set with the Rays tonight. Ya know.. the Rays.. the first place Rays.. Yeah.. looking forward to those highlights on ESPN.

You'd think after almost getting your head shaved during a drunken night (for your competitors) on a Bravo reality show, he wouldn't be drinking too much these days.. WRONG!

Yet another 70's icon falls off the wagon... Eat your heart out, Tatum O'Neal...
Someone needs to teach my two favorite Orioles exactly what constitutes junk food.

I nominate myself.

Speaking of O's... Happy Belated Birthday to my favorite O (forever and ever), Cal Ripken. He celebrated his 48th birthday on Sunday, August 24th. I celebrated in my own way.... just.. unfortunately.. not with him :(. SOMEDAY!!!!
I am bound and determined to start up at the gym after a month long furlough, so I downloaded some new songs for my Ipod the other day, and I feel I might need to explain myself:

Do Me by Bell Biv Devoe - It's a good song for the cardio and who can resist a man who says "smack it up, flip it, rub it down OH NO!" I know I can't. It basically describes my entire gym going experience, although there is certainly not enough rub down, and way too much OH NO!

The Past by Sevendust - I've only listened to it once, but Jason (the knocker upper, but since I don't know what the real deal with that is, we'll just call him Jason) told me Chris Daughtry sings on it, so I had to download it. It serves no purpose but to give me another soundtrack to my Chris Daughtry fantasy. Did I mention he played the State Fair last Thursday, and I missed it? That's right up there with my "forgetting" Counting Crows were in town.. WTF is wrong with me!?

Disturbia by Rihanna - Again, cardio.

When I Grow Up by The Pussycat Dolls - I'm ashamed and I'll admit it. I would NOT listen to this song when it first came out. Probably for no reason other than, well, I would be ashamed. Well, my sister heard it and insisted that there's one part where they say "they want boobies." Come to find out, they want groupies, but now every time we hear it, we say "boobies" instead. Hence, I have to listen to it every time it's on the radio because I'm a child and giggle when people say "boobies." And it's grown on me...
If you read a book by any author this year (I'm thinking this will be more of a girl thing) read ANYTHING by Jen Lancaster. I just finished What a Pretty Fat and laughed my ass off, mainly because I've said or thought of saying lots of the things she had the balls to say out loud. Her writing is incredibly relatable, and laugh out loud funny. Check out her books and her blog.
I unlocked a new yoga pose, the Triangle, last night. That didn't go so well.. But I've done yoga for three days in a row so that's something. I am sore, so I guess it's working! There is muscle underneath my fat. I can't see it, but I can feel it!

I had a big lunch yesterday so I wasn't hungry until it was time to watch Big Brother (Memphis won POV and Dan reneged on his deal with Ollie by putting up Michelle), so everything I had for dinner started with Pop! I had Frosted Cinnamon Pop-Tarts (my favorites.. I haven't had them in YEARS) and when that wasn't enough, I had some microwave popcorn. I miss those staples that got me through college but are really way too bad and/or embarassing for you to eat as a mature adult: Pop-Tarts, Steak-Ums, Easy Mac.. (ok who am I kidding? Kraft Mac and Cheese will NEVER go out of style).

It was only a matter of time before DWTS came to their senses: Lacey Schwimmer (one of the finalists on last year's So You Think You Can Dance and brother of Season 2 winner, Benji Schwimmer) is partnering Lance Bass on the upcoming season of DWTS. I think they have a lot to live up to and hope they don't fall victim to the Chris Daughtry curse (where everyone loves you and assumes everyone else is voting for you), but I'm REALLY looking forward to it. My Mondays are starting again.. Yay! (it's the little things)
My latest call tone (When I Dream of Michaelangelo by Counting Crows) has expired as of today. I went old school with my new choice, once that had been in the running the last few times: Corey Hart - Sunglasses at Night. I might call myself, all day.

I did yoga again last night. It might look like it's not working (to people who aren't doing it) but I can definitely feel it. I'd take a class (if I could find one) but it's one thing to be unbalanced in your own home, as opposed to in front of a group of skinny yoga groupies. I'll pass..

Monday, August 25, 2008

I went to the Chinese Buffet tonight for the first time ever. I'm lucky no one harpooned me on the way home.

I think I've mentioned that I've been trying to enlighten myself by watching "classic" movies. I watched Easy Rider the other day and it was ok, but I didn't think it was ground breaking. Then again, I wasn't alive when it was made, so that might make a difference. Tonight I watched Dog Day Afternoon. LOVED it! Al Pacino was amazing and it kept my attention the whole time. I've had some issues with my attention span lately and if a movie is any more than an hour and a half, I find I have trouble concentrating on it. Dog Day Afternoon was about two hours and I never once checked to see how much longer I had to go. If you haven't seen it, check it out! Great (true) story and really great acting. I might sound like a broken record, but I really can't say anything more about, especially nothing bad!

I did yoga on the Wii Fit yesterday. I can't feel my calves. I can't tell if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
Who's got the over/under on the NEXT Charlie Sheen custody hearing? Ah, I know.. I'm such a cynic, right?

The new cast for Dancing with the Stars was officially announced today. I think I'm a little excited about it. There are some interesting "celebs" on the list and I'm always curious to see how the athletes will do. Hopefully Misty May-Treanor has more rhythm than Monica Seles! Kim Kardashian could be the first trainwreck to go, however she probably has a bigger fan base than say... Jeffrey Ross.. So she might have to get through her ill-timed foot injury to continue to compete!

J and I finally made it to the drive-in this weekend, where the double feature was Tropic Thunder and Stepbrothers. Yes, we've already seen Step Brothers, but I was going to the drive in come hell or high water, before the summer ended. I enjoyed Tropic Thunder. Tom Cruise's cameo is REALLY funny and shows that believe it or not, he does have a sense of humor! I understand why there are protests and stuff, but it's really not as bad as it's made out to be. Granted, I don't have a mentally challenged relative or friend, so perhaps my thoughts about it are skewed. I don't know.. I kind of think it's much ado about nothing and is certainly no worse than anything else out there. This movie also continues my summer crush on Robert Downey Jr. Who'dve thunk!?

I'll never learn.

I went to bed early last night, and had told myself I was going to get up at a decent hour to beat the rush at Jiffy Lube, as I needed an oil change. I think we all know how much I loathe Jiffy Lube. I know nothing about cars (except, luckily, where the gas and wiper fluid go) so they always manage to sell me something. Not today, so I thought. I walked in there with my coupon and was determined to "Just Say No."

The technician (very cute and bald) brings me out and asks me what kind of oil I want. I was smart enough to see the prices on the screen and picked the cheapest. He then shows me my air filter and tells me it was pretty dingy, or something to that effect. I don't remember because the minute he said "air filter" my eyes glazed over. He caught me off guard and I said "sure, change my air filter." My $28.00 oil change (with coupon) morphed into $52.00 and I had to hide my shock and disappointment in myself as I made small talk with Cutie McMechanic. I lamented with him as to why they were all backed up (3 people called in), and how you can't find good help these days and I pray to God he works on commission... that he should use to take me out to dinner. It's only fair..

At least I got a free car wash.

Today is the first time I realized (I think) that in the song "Baby Got Back", Sir Mix-a-Lot says "LA Jeans with an Oakland booty." I don't know what I thought it waspreviously and maybe I'm still wrong, but that certainly wasn't it. The only reason I thought of it is because Terri on Project Runway had a shirt on in one of the recent episodes that said that. Ok, something LIKE that. I can't remember the slogan exactly, but I know it said something about having an Oakland booty and thought to myself "I bet I have an Oakland booty." Weird..
Great game... not so great as a baby name.

I am dragging something fierce today. Tre, our friend Brian and I met some of the guys that we play ball against at the Towne Tavern in Averill Park. I drove. Big mistake.. Tre and I had made a pact that we would leave by 11:30... 12:00 at the latest. We got home at 2. Good lord those boys can knock down the beer and liquor. Tre invited them to Hudson which would be fun, but I admit, I'm a little scared.

Daniel FINALLY was let go from Project Runway, as the designers had to create outfits for drag queens. This might have been the funniest episode I've ever seen (ranking right up there with the episode where Santino impersonates Tim Gunn) and I was surprised at how... kinda hot and normal some of the drag queens were! Joe (our token straight guy) finally won (oh, the irony) and his drag queen was a sexy bastard!

The first week alliance on Big Brother (ya know, the one that basically encompassed the entire house against Brian) was let down once again, as Libra was booted last week and April this week. Granted, April and Libra have been on different sides of the coin as of late, but I've really enjoyed watching how Dan, Keesha and Memphis have banded together to keep themselves in the game. I mean, I thought Dan was a goner from Day One and now he's (SPOILER, I THINK) HOH! Should be an interesting week in the BB house. Apparently April hasn't gotten her period since her unprotected sex with Ollie and there's a double elimination next Thursday. Must be the end of the summer!

The final 3 on Shear Genius are Charlie, Nicole and Dee. I thought I watched the whole episode, but once I deleted it, I realized I had no clue who was in the final 3 besides Nicole, as she won the short cut challenge to get there. Then again, it's Bravo so I'm sure I'll see the ending and many marathons before the finale.

The Olympics are almost over and I've found my new LOVAH (sorry Jonathan Horton.. you've run your course). He's a little on the doofy side, but the tall, skinny dork has been my thing in the past. Maybe it's time to bring it back (hush your mouth C. Howe).. Speaking of the Olympics, the probe into the Chinese gymnastics age really turned into a farce and was dismissed within hours of the news breaking. The US Women's Soccer team are the gold medalists, while the US Softball team was upset by Japan. Think they did it on purpose to end their world domination and convince the IOC that softball is still relevant? I don't either...

Time for my weekend o'detox, which I think I might start off by having McDonald's for lunch today. Food coma, here I come! Enjoy your weekend!!

Oh, what a beautiful morning... Thanks for the pick me up, Rach!

Last night, Tre, Fish and I treated ourselves to ice cream at Lick. My favorite cinnamon flavor was not one of the selected, so I was more than likely going to relegate myself to chocolate chip. Boring, I know, but so are my taste buds. Anyway, there was a milk chocolate and a hot chocolate so we asked what the difference was: The hot chocolate has chili peppers in it. We HAD to give it a shot. We all got little samples of it and it was interesting: Tasted like chocolate but had an aftertaste like you'd just eaten a dozen wings. I got a scoop of it and while it was good, the sample was probably enough. My mouth was cold, yet on fire. A very weird feeling...

Seriously, someone figure out a way to introduce me to this guy...

Tuesday, August 19, 2008

Remember last week, when I was lamenting about needing a new liver? Well, let's just say I didn't learn my lesson: Let's break it down, shall we?

Thursday - Went to Joe's for some wings and pizza. Didn't get home until 12:30 (the Olympics were on!) and then had to stay awake at home to open my sister's present (gift certificates for mani/pedi and the movies) and watch the gymnastics. Shortly after I fell asleep, I got a call from my friend Jack from Worcester and ended up chatting with him for over an hour. He has great timing sometimes!

Friday - MY BIRTHDAY!!! Began the day by having breakfast with Tre and my mom, which was filling and awesome. I love breakfast. Anyway, I didn't really do much all afternoon but wait for J to call and wish me a happy birthday. It was a long wait. Granted, he's been working nights and had yet another doctor's appointment, but come on.. it's your girlfriend's birthday. Make some effort. Anyway, I hit up Meadowgreens around 6:30 and had great intentions for the evening. Instead, the shots started early and we closed down the bar around 2:30. Surprisingly enough, I felt decent on Saturday. I'm getting too old for shots, that's for sure.

Saturday - As I'm sure you can tell, the morning was kinda slow. I had a ball game at 2:00 (which we won) and then hung out at the field for a few hours, socializing and drinking beer. After a very necessary dinner from Wendy's (WOO HOO Baconator), Jen brought me home and I showered so Tre and I could hit up another party. We basically made an appearance as we were both pretty beat from the day and had to be ready to leave the house at 8 for another ball game.

Sunday - Early morning, but not as early as it should have been. We got a little bit of a late start, so we didn't make it for bloody mary's before the game, or for the majority of the game we wanted to watch. Our game started at 10 and went 8 innings, so we barely had enough time to relax before our next game at noon. Luckily, they gave us a little extra time, but we still lost. It was a blessing in disguise to be honest. I don't know if any of us would have had the energy to play a third game that day. It was pretty warm out, as is evidenced from what I can only describe as an absolutely heinous sunburn on my face. It looks like I have sunglasses on and my nose looks like Bozo the Clown. Oh yeah, it's so NOT an attractive look for me. We ended up staying at the field, watching the next few games and just drinking and bonding with some people from the other teams. I was pretty sure I was going to not go to work on Monday anyway, but once we were still drinking around 6 pm on a Sunday, my mind was made up! After a while, I came home, took a shower and headed to J's brother's house where I watched part of my first WWE Summer Slam since I was a kid and thought it was real(then, not now). I subsequently passed out on his couch.

Monday - a blur of naps and laundry.

I got a great night's sleep Monday night, but not before I watched the premiere of The Hills. I've gotta say, I've always been a fan of Lo, but she sure is bitching it up already when it comes to Lauren's relationship with Audrina. I almost liked the fact that Audrina called her out and was like "we'll never be friends." You go with your bad self! And ok, if you saw the way Spencer treated both Heidi and her sister, how would you ever date him!? I mean.. he was a douche right to both their faces. If you're gonna be a douche, do it behind their back. He should know better. Oh, the Hills... How I've missed thee... even if it's just for Whitney's "surprised" face.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

As I drove home from the gym today, I noticed a sign for a motorcycle festival and one of the key events is spaghetti wrestling. This sign is "strategically" placed across the street from the local Planned Parenthood, which is where the Alight Center people protest and sing their hymns. Is the motorcycle festival geared towards women with loose morals and a love for spaghetti in their pesche? (that's "pussy" for you non Kathy Griffin fans).. Maybe Planned Parenthood will get the day off and the protesters will find a new venue for a day... I mean.. spaghetti wrestling should only be done drunk.. which leads to unprotected sex which leads to unwanted pregnancy which leads to abortion, right?

I'm kidding... but the spaghetti wrestling thing was the only thing on the sign I remember besides that it was a motorcycle festival and this post seemed way funnier to me when I was on the road thinking of it. Yeah.. I blew it.. but I'm going to post it anyway, cause that's the kind of girl I am..

PS - thanks C. Howe.. you brought an umbrella to my pity party and I love ya more than my luggage ;)
So... my birthday is tomorrow. I'll be the big 3-2. I've always made a big deal out of my birthday. I mean, it's only once a year so you might as well take advantage, right? Well, I'm not saying anyone should throw me a parade or anything, but for 24 hours, just PRETEND it's as important to you as it is to me. Ya know, make an effort. Sorry for the diatribe.. I"m having a kind of frustrating "Day before my birthday" :).

Perhaps it's that I have no real news to report. Last night we won the ball game I was sure we were going to forfeit, so that's something. Now we play on Saturday afternoon, which really ruins our plans to hit up my friend's phenomenally fun day at Saratoga Race Track, which sucks. I'm taking tomorrow off, mainly cause my boss is on maternity leave and it's VERY slow here, and who likes working on their birthday? I'd rather do nothing at home in my pajamas than do nothing at work, right? Still, I have nothing planned. It's kind of sad and depressing. I guess that's what happens when you get older! Ugh..

Headed out tonight for some beer and wings, then probably home to watch the Olympics (again). At least this time I don't have anything to get up for (except maybe birthday breakfast) so if I stay awake for the whole thing it won't be a huge deal. Maybe I'll go grocery shopping tomorrow. I hate doing it, but at least it'd be out of the way and I'd have food in the house.

I know, I'm throwing myself a nasty pity party today, aren't I? Approximately 24 hours ago I had to hang up on some crazy bitch at work and ever since then, it's gone downhill. I knew this lady was crazy, but I didn't realize she was the devil and her attitude was going to bring ME down!

Almost forgot - Congratulations go out to my friend Caren, who got engaged this week! Congrats and best of luck to her and her lucky fiance!!!

Have a great night and maybe I'll get a chance to post (and be in a better mood) tomorrow :)!

Wednesday, August 13, 2008

Yet another late night for me. Granted, I did get to go to bed 20 minutes earlier than the night before, but seriously, I've got to get some sleep! Last night was the team finals of the women's gymnastics competition, where the USA women took silver. Things looked great early on, but then usually tough competitor (and one of my personal faves) Alicia Sacramone just lost it. She fell on her mount onto the balance beam and made some big mistakes on her floor routine, leaving the door wide open for the Chinese to win the Gold. Granted, Nastia Liukin and Shawn Johnson also both went out of bounds on their floor exercise, but their routines were not the train wrecks Sacramone put in. You have to feel bad for someone who works their whole life for one day, and watches it all slip away. Granted, they still got silver and there's still the all-around and individual apparatus finals, so hopefully there'll be some gold medals in some USA gymasts future. And oh yeah, some guy named Michael Phelps won a few gold medals... so I heard.

I missed the Counting Crows/Maroon 5 concert last night. I had thought about it in the weeks preceding the show, but it had completely slipped my mind in the last week or so. I swear, they're one of my favorite bands, but I can't seem to ever get to the show. Maybe if they played anywhere but SPAC. I usually get lawn seats cause they're cheaper, but I'm not a huge fan of buying tickets and not knowing if it will rain, or if the people next to you are going to be transmitting communicable diseases under their blanket.

I applied for a part time receptionist job today and have an interview next week. I don't know if I'll get it, as I have a feeling I can't be there when they need to be there (ya know, due to that pesky "day job" thing) and I have my Friday bowling night, but it'd be nice if it worked out. It seemed like a nice place to work and not too brain numbing. I think less people would probably be less frustrated and annoying there, as opposed to my day job. People get cranky when you don't get them divorced in one week! Point being, everyone needs money, and I need more of it than I am in possession of.

For once, a #1 that I can agree with! It's a great, entertaining and inspiring documentary. There are also plenty of other great (and ones I didn't think were so great) flicks on the list, so be sure to check it out.

Big Brother - LORD, shit is hitting the fan. To sum it up: Michelle is HOH and she's basically trying to "avenge" Jessie's eviction. Jerry has a hit out on Dan and is referring to him as Judas cause Dan didn't vote the way he said he was going to, but he didn't have a choice, cause Dan was "America's Player" for a week. Way to screw Dan, America!! Anyway, Michelle put up Libra and Keesha who were all lovey-dovey friends, until Jerry won the HOH and Libra tried to throw Keesha under the bus. Keesha isn't having it and I can imagine tomorrow night's episode will be fraught with drama. Granted, Keesha did orchestrate Jessie's ousting, so hopefully she can find a way to make Libra look worse. Jerry did NOT use the POV to save anyone, although he made this huge speech about what an awful person Dan is (um.. Note to Jerry: See Dan? NOT on the block.. Pray he doesn't win HOH next week) but didn't use the POV to get him on the block. So, it's Libra vs. Keesha. Personally, I think Libra will go home unless she can convince the group that Keesha really was the "puppetmistress," not her. Then again, Keesha could get kicked out of the house real soon for bitch slapping April. Expect the unexpected.

I've got my first playoff softball game tonight, so perhaps I'll get my much needed rest. There are some good things on the Olympics tonight (Men's 3M Synchro Diving, Women's Beach Volleyball and more swimming) but I think I'll take the night off. Hump 'em if you got 'em!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

I'm dragging something fierce today. Know why? Cause I stayed up till 12:40 to watch Men's Gymnastics on the Olympics. Don't get me wrong... it was worth it! I think I kinda fell in love with Jonathan Horton last night.. Not only is he adorable, but the boy sure can stick a landing! He was by far the men's MVP last night.. Still, I'm a little tired today and I know I'll be tired tomorrow, as Women's Gymnastics are on tonight. They don't even start till 10 pm so I'm trying to tell myself that it won't be as bad since the women only work on 4 apparatuses (apparati?) as opposed to 6 for the men.

Congratulations go out to my boss, who gave birth to an 8 lb, 10 oz baby girl last night. Mom, dad and baby are all doing well!

I was real proud of myself, cause yesterday I went back to the gym. I did the strength machines instead of just cardio and was done relatively quickly. When I got home I was telling my sister how I didn't really feel that sore to which she replied "how many times did you go through the circuit?" Um... one! Yeah.. apparently my "work out" wasn't quite as intense as I'd anticipated so now I have to basically start fresh and do it three times.. ya know.. so it DOES something. This really is just an excuse for me to start fresh next week. Sadly, my arms do hurt, regardless of the fact that I did.. well.. nothing.

We all know how much I love The Office (can't wait for it to return Sept. 25th) and this little article just made me smile. I know half my sleeping problems are because I'm super paranoid that someone is coming into my house to kill me, so I can relate.

Speaking of things I love, this could be the best news ever! It's even better than when Kristen Bell joined the cast of Heroes, if you can believe that!

Speaking of cool guest stars, I think this one will be entertaining at the very least.

The bachelorette party girls hitting the dance floor at Savannah's
Tre and I
Sarah reads this blog (she's the one pretending to be scared AND the bride to be) so I don't think she'll mind if I post this picture.. GIGANTOR ;)
You'd think I would have learned, but apparently not. My liver is not a big fan of me right now, I'll tell you that!

Friday night we had a ball game, which surprisingly enough, did NOT get rained out. After that, we went to Jackson's for a few drinks. I drove, so obviously J got to be the semi-drunk one out of the two of us. It was kind of fine with me. I was so beat I pretty much passed out once my head hit the pillow.

Saturday morning I had to get up so Tre and I could make it to my friend Sarah's bridal shower. It was a 10:30 brunch. Tre and I got a little lost, but we made it there before the food was served. My friend Nikki is called "the shower nazi" and for good reason. We ate brunch, opened presents AND had cake and were done in an hour. It was the best shower ever! After Tre took a short nap and I caught up on Mad Men, we headed to my friend Nikki's house to sit by the pool and get ready for the bachelorette party. We went to see Menopause: The Musical at Capital Rep. I swear, if you get an opportunity, see it (I think it's playing for another week or slightly more)! The show is absolutely hysterical and only an hour and a half. However, plan your bathroom break accordingly, as there is no intermission. The actresses had great voices and even funnier facial expressions. It was a really entertaining way to start off the night, that's for sure.

Once that was done, we headed to Savannah's. A heavy metal band was playing when we got there, but luckily we only had to wait about a half hour before "DJ Lady Verse" came on to play all sorts of 80's and 90's stuff. We danced all night long, which is probably why all those shots we had didn't go to our heads quite as quickly as we'd thought they would. We didn't get to bed until 4 and Tre had me up to leave at 8. Unfortunately, I can never go right back to bed after being up for a while, so I didn't nap until after 1:00, and even that was only for a short while. Hit up my parents house for beef and noodles for dinner (one of my faves) and then J and I went to see Pineapple Express. It was really funny. I mean, there are some lines that you just kind of went "did they really just say that?" but in a good way. Entertaining story, very funny guys in it, what more could you ask for? Oh wait... Huey Lewis having a song in the ending credits? Yep.. it was a trifecta! I highly recommend unless you're Sandra - she doesn't like to laugh ;)!

I took TONS of pictures from the bachelorette party but haven't had a chance to put them online yet, so they are forthcoming, I promise.

What a sad weekend: Bernie Mac, Isaac Hayes and Anthony Hart (brother of motocross star Carey Hart) all died over the weekend. Apparently Bernie Mac's condition was way worse than anyone ever let on and he died at the age of 50. Hayes, best known these days as the voice of Chef on South Park, seems to have died naturally. Hart was in an accident during a practice session at a Hartford, CT speedway.

Poor girl's trying to save the whales, but daddy's home hitting mommy... her boyfriend ran over a paparazzo's foot AND someone nailed her car. Looks like Hayden Panettiere isn't have a great weekend either.. But hey.. Heroes starts soon!!! :)

I haven't had a chance to catch too much of the Olympics, but I plan to hunker down on my couch tonight to watch some men's gymnastics and swimming. The US Men's win in the 4x100 relay has by far been an insane highlight and now Michael Phelps (thank you Jason Lezak) is well on his way to becoming the most decorated Olympic athlete (ever?).

I don't know about where you are, but it's been raining like a mo'fo all day. Thunder and lightning that shakes the office and torrential downpours. And it's freaking cold! I'm seriously considering a hot cocoa today. Yep.. Happy August.

My plan last night was to hit up the Tri-City Valleycats game, as they were playing Cal's team, the Aberdeen Ironbirds. However, some nasty weather hit just prior to my leaving and J came down instead. I'm a little peeved that the game was still played and I wasn't there, but it turned out pretty good instead. Tre, J, Danny, Fish and I christened Rock Band and if it weren't for the hand cramps, I think we would have played for more than the two hours we played for. I admit, the game on the Wii is not as good as it is for Play Station and XBox (you can't make your own band or download songs) but it's still a hell of a good time. I mean, we weren't even drinking last night but still laughing our ass off and having a great time. We left the blinds open so I can only imagine what people driving by were thinking!

Today is the start of the Bejing Olympics and apparently 8 is a very lucky number. Not that I'm surprised, as it was (and always will be, Cal Ripken's uniform number) However, if you can believe it, Clay Aiken's baby mama had their baby this morning, at 8:08 am. Crazy, right?

In other good news, after practically a decade of non-wedded bliss, Jewel eloped with her very own rodeo cowboy, Ty Murray.

I have a bridal shower and bachelorette party tomorrow, so again I hope to have pictures, but I make no promises. We're going to see Menopause: The Musical and then hitting up Savannah's for more than a few drinks. Maybe even some Grape Cosmos. It could get ugly. J is working nights starting this week (yay! note the sarcasm) so we've made plans to see Pineapple Express on Sunday. I'll keep you posted..

Thunder just shook me out of my chair. That was not fun for me at all.

Enjoy your weekend and stay dry!

I always call J on my way home from work. Well, he didn't answer so I left him a message and flipped my phone shut. Then I turned up "St. Robinson in His Cadillac Dream" by Counting Crows and jammed through it till the end. Then I looked at my phone... which had never hung up, as I had my headset on. So J had a lovely message that consisted of 30 seconds of me saying hi and 2 1/2 minutes of me singing my heart out. He saved it for me. I'm thrilled.

I had an appointment at 10:30 for a field vision test, so I went to the hospital early to get my bloodwork done, something I've avoided for approximately a year. I do NOT give blood. I do NOT know my blood type. This is the second time in my life I've ever had blood taken (at least that my almost 32 year old mind can remember) and I was fine... Until I walked in. Then I got the heebie jeebies. The guy that took my blood (phlebotomist?) was VERY nice and when I asked him if it would hurt, he said "not me!" Yeah.. believe it or not, he wasn't my main concern. But he went along with it when I nervously joked with him, so that helped. I didn't look at what he was doing, but I did feel the prick.... for only a second or two. He was good, I'll give him that. It took less than a minute and he told me that I have good veins. I guess that's good to know if I ever decide to go the heroin route.

I'm still recovering from my weekend o'boozing.

Friday night (and all weekend) the Firemen's Softball Tournament was in town so we HAD to head over for a few beers.. that turned into way more than that and closing down Melino's. I went to bed around 3 am and was up at 8 am: WIDE awake. A few sausage mcmuffins later, I was feeling a little better, but far from wanting to contend with the rain and other such things we needed to do to get ready for Nytropalooza 2008!

The rain stopped around 1:45 and only made one other brief appearance, so the weather we were all so concerned about, really wasn't a concern at all. Everyone seemed to have had a good time, either playing beer pong or just chilling with people they hadn't seen since last year's party. My friend Joey even made a birthday cake for my mom, who's birthday was on Saturday. I was really slacking in the picture department, but if/when I find some, I promise to post them. It's hard to host a party AND take pictures and all that jazz!!! Another late night ensued.. I tried to go to bed earlier, but my friend Pete picked me up over his shoulder and dragged me outside, so that ended that early bedtime for sure! I'm glad he did it.. Staying up till 2 am was way more fun! There was only slight drama at the party too, which worked out. Basically drunken boys, being stupid drunken boys.

J officially got me Rock Band for the Wii for my birthday. I am very much looking forward to playing it, especially now that I bought another guitar, as the game only comes with one and is not compatible with Guitar Hero. WTF is up with that?! So yes, now I have four plastic guitars in my living room. Who would have ever thunk!? The drums are really hard and no one has tried singing yet, so I'm sure we'll have to have a drunken Rock Band night pretty soon!

J also managed to find my mom a copy of Wii Fit, which (along with the Wii) is what Tre, Dad and I got her for her birthday. To say she was shocked was an understatement! The next day she set it up all by herself and played with the Wii Fit for a little while. I need to start doing that as my physical activity level has plummeted. I think next week I'll start up again. My ball games are almost over and it looks like J will be working nights for the next few weeks (fun!) so I should have some free time..

I can't wait to hear the real story on this one.

Morgan Freeman is recovering from a rollover car accident in Mississippi this weekend.

Angie was sent packing on Big Brother for no other reason except that everyone in that house is a big moron and I hope their decision comes back to bite them on the ass. How do you let Jessie stay when he's being a big douche and threatening people!? Luckily, April won the HOH and put Jessie and Memphis up, promising Michele that Jessie wasn't her main target. I sure hope Memphis can use his "womanizer" charm and make them all realize Jessie needs to go, just for the sheer fact that he annoys me. Or, ya know.. win the POV competition tonight, Memphis.. That would work too.

I am finally all caught up on Mad Men. I've only watched the first episode of this season, but I think the storylines and dynamics of the characters will really pull things together. I just really hope they're not smoking as much as they seem to be on set. It's like a pile of lung cancer waiting to happen.

The Brangelina baby pics sold for a whopping $14 million (I think). That's insane.. they're babies!!! At least the money is going to charity.

I'm finally starting to get a good night's sleep, so forgive the craziness of this post. I'll be better soon, I promise! Enjoy your night and if something comes along, you bet I'll post it.

Yesterday at work, I was talking to the new attorney and instead of saying oral stipulation, I said oral stimulation.

I'm not sure he noticed...
