I couldn't have said it better myself....

I can't figure out how to embed this You Tube video into my blog (I tried copying and pasting the embed thing, but it didn't work) so click on this to see Millar at his best.
I think that when I grow up, I want to be the guy who announces the secret ingredient on Iron Chef. I mean.. he's SO excited and probably gets paid an exorbitant amount of money to say "The secret ingredient is....." and then make some hand gestures. I mean.. I've been in musicals AND taken dance for years. I am a master of hand gestures.

Thursday night I went to Sue's house, where she made me the most amazing chicken quesadilla for dinner. It's not that it was that great, I mean.. it was just chicken and cheese (just the way I like it) but it was a much better option than the easy macaroni and cheese weight watchers recipe that I brought with me. I also got my car stuck in her driveway. Well, not really IN her driveway, more like off to the side, as I got halfway up and then slid most of the way down. Her husband was too busy at the bar to come home, so he sent his buddy (thanks Dave!) to get me out. I don't have any clue how he did it, but I don't care. When I got into the car, it felt a little.. loose, but I didn't think much of it. That is, until I got onto the I-90 and the steering column started to shake uncontrollably. I don't know anything about cars, but I'm thinking that can't be a good thing. I was going to take it to the shop on Friday, but a few people said the snow and ice in the wheel well might just need to melt, so I carpooled with my mom instead and left my car home to dry. My dad seems to think it'll be all better, and I sure hope so. I'm not getting THAT much back from my taxes to pay for new wheels or other such things.

Wednesday night, Tre and I watched a bootleg of Gran Torino that my friend (who shall remain nameless, as bootlegs are technically illegal) let us borrow. GREAT movie. I really enjoyed it. Funny thing is, after seeing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button we walked by the theater where Gran Torino was playing. A gaggle of gays, all men, were also walking by and one of them pointed out to the other that he'd heard it was a really funny flick. Now at this point I'd seen the previews and read about it, and it certainly didn't sound like a comedy, and I made this point to my friends and perhaps even on this blog. Well, after seeing it, I know what they mean. Clint Eastwood is basically racist and uses every opportunity he can to spout racial slurs, even to those who are being nice to him. I'm not saying it's necessarily funny to be racist, but it IS funny to hear such words come out of his mouth AND the way the other characters reacted to him. I think it's a definite must-see.

So, I'm bowling in this doubles tournament in February, and the guy who runs it asked me what my average was last year, as this is what they use to figure out handicap. I said 182, and apparently, I was wrong. I guess I had a crappy year last year, cause I only averaged 175. I started the year off slow this year, but I'm now averaging 185, which is unfortunately, 10 pins over last year's average. If you're 10 pins over, you have to use this year's average. My big plan was to bowl like crap the next few weeks to get my average down a point or two, but of course, it has backfired so far. I ended up shooting 639 last night, and had the first six strikes in the third game and should have had the 7th. I buried the ball and left a ten pin. I blame Vicki, who I bowled against. She slapped my hand and stole my mojo. After that, I basically lost it, missing an easy spare and struggling to keep the ball where I wanted it to be. I'll never bowl 300. I got halfway there and was already shaking! But, I had a great time hanging out afterwards and Tre actually drove, so I got to have a few drinks. I could have hung out longer, which is a rarity, but I guess everyone is saving themselves for Superbowl, so I just went home and went to bed.

This afternoon I watched The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada (it was ok) and my Jillian Michaels workout DVD. Doesn't watching it count just as much as doing it? I really was watching it to see what I'd need hand weights for and if I could go without them, but it looks like they'd be helpful. Guess a trip to Wal-Mart is in order..

If THIS is fat, then sign me up! I really think it is just basically a PSA that NO ONE should wear high waisted jeans.

Explain to me again why I'm watching the Food Network, especially while on a diet. They're doing a show about breakfast. I'm a BIG fan of breakfast.. Damnit.. now I'm hungry. MMM.. pancakes..

My cousin Jimmy popped the question to his girlfriend Melody the other day, so congratulations go out to them! She's a great girl and will be a wonderful addition to the family! Prior to that, Mom and I were having some interesting conversations about weddings and such. I think it's funny how your priorities change as you get older. When I was 22 I would have had a fairy tale wedding, inviting everyone I've ever known. Now I pretty much just want to wear a tiara and have mozzarella sticks on the menu.

Enjoy your weekend and VIVA LA SUPERBOWL!!!

I'm a big fan of closure, which is why this J not calling me back thing, really irks me. I mean.. I left a nice message.. (seriously.. it was nice.. and this is not me being sarcastic and saying it was nice.. it really was nice.. and breezy.. very nonchalant) ASKED him to call me back.. and nothing. Granted, in the message I believe I did say I was "done," but I didn't necessarily say what I was done with. I think part of it is that I don't want to be the girl that broke up with her boyfriend via voice mail, which kind of equates to Berger breaking up with Carrie via Post-It on Sex and the City. Regardless, what I'm trying to say is that as much as I want to call and get that necessary closure, I refuse to do so. After all, if I give him the chance to talk he might want his Wii Fit back and THAT is not an option... What can I say? I have priorities... ;)

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

So, I called J on Monday night, basically to just cut the cord. I mean, this has been going on long enough and I'm basically over it. I'd rather we break up and still be able to be civil than end up hating each other. I left a VERY nice message (even by my standards) and didn't exactly say what my motive for the call was, but I think I hinted enough. He has yet to call me back. The lightbulbs just keep turning on, don't they!? :)

I took a snow day today and I'm really glad that I did. I've had a lot of practice driving in the snow this year so while I'm tentative, I'm not exactly a wuss about it. Still, considering the snow was going to continue from early morning today through early morning tomorrow, I thought it would be well worth using my time to avoid an accident. Technically, Nytropalooza still has a soccer game tonight. It went from 9:55 to 9:25, but no one is real eager to play. The team has been up my ass all day to call and forfeit and I understand why, I just really want to give Afrim's the chance to cancel before I do. They only cancel if the State Police advises there be no unnecessary travel. Therefore, I'm giving them through the evening drive and figure if they don't, I'll have to suck it up and call no later than 6. I just wish everyone would leave me alone. There's a method to my madness and if anyone thinks I'm real eager to leave the house tonight, they must be f'n crazy too. I'm just trying not to waste everyone's money by not showing up, that's all.

I really wish I had been productive today, but I can't say that I have. I did walk on the treadmill for an hour and watched this past week's episode of Confessions of a Teen Idol. Let me tell you something, you have no idea what you're missing if you're not watching this show. I really thought it was gonna be the epitome of cheese (kind of like that boy band one VH1 had last year), but I find myself really rooting for these guys and understanding their plight and where they are coming from. I really want the whole world to accept them back into the Hollywood fold.. however I really wish Eric Nies would stop washing his hair with his own pee..

I know I'll never make it down for this, but a girl can dream, can't she?

We all know Jeana is my favorite housewife, but I really want her to slap her boys upside the head, just once, so they know what it feels like. And I understand that some parents would rather let their kids drink in their house so at least they know where they are, but you don't do that at an adult cocktail party. If Jeana's boys are gonna hit someone with a bat, I kinda wish it was Lynne. Or just hit her in her fake boobs.. Seriously, are those the fakest set you've ever seen? Ugh.. I don't like her.. which is too bad cause her husband seems like a nice guy and she's probably got good qualities too. I almost felt bad for her last week when Vicki basically told her to shove it, but I'll give Vicki credit cause she was just trying to give Gretchen sound financial advice. As much as Vicki irks me, I'd listen to her.... until my head exploded from the "WOO HOOS."

Just when I thought I might care about DWTS again after the whole Cloris debacle, THIS happens. Why in the name of God are any Osmonds still relevant anywhere besides the Mormon Church and Nutrisystem commercials? At least if it does happen, I'll have time to prepare.

Wow.. talk about letting yourself go. I really hope this is just a TERRIBLE angle. I mean, I'm sure he doesn't look as good as he used to, but please tell me it hasn't gotten to this point!

Wait a minute... Jake Gyllenhaal gets to go to jury duty and I don't!? Shouldn't he know someone to get him out of it?

It's been a pretty crappy week for gossip, so I'm afraid I don't have much, hence my lack of posting as of late. Ok.. I know I only missed one day, but still. I did just finish New Moon, but I'm afraid I don't have the final two books in the Twilight series yet, so I'm just going to have to move on to Chelsea Handler's My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands. I just don't really like buying books in hardcover if I don't have to. However, the new John Grisham just came out and I have a soft spot in my heart for him too. I pre-ordered Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist and Zach and Miri Make a Porno on Amazon.com today. Those are two movies I just adored and have to own. Everyone has a fetish.. Mine just happens to be entertainment... and shoes. Let's not forget shoes... And bald men.. Yep.. put them on the list too..

Without soccer to keep me busy tonight, I plan to watch Gran Torino (my friend let me borrow her bootleg) and Top Chef IN REAL TIME! I'm so excited.. Tonight's episode looks like a doozy as it's a Superbowl theme and it pits the chefs against All Stars from other seasons, including ANDREW!!!! That shirt is half price, so I have no idea how I still don't own it!

So yeah.. you know what day it is.. Act accordingly! I'll try to post this weekend.. I'm headed up to Sue's house tomorrow night and Fridays are usually too much of a blur to get anything done. Sue is due any day now and she's freaking out just a bit about childbirth. My job is to keep her mind off it. I swear, if she goes into labor while I'm there I might be scarred for life. I was JUST getting used to the idea of having kids, and she'd more than likely ruin it. Oh well.. Que sera sera, right?

Monday, January 26, 2009

I haven't had time to post, cause I had such a busy weekend! Friday night was bowling, where I.. well.. bowled like crap. I hung out at the bowling alley for a bit, as it was Jason's birthday, and hit the hay earlier than I expected, which wasn't a bad thing. Saturday morning I got up, jumped on the treadmill for a bit and caught up on all my shows. I'm starting to think that's what Saturdays are good for! We left around 5 to head up to Schenectady for dinner and Avenue Q.

Dinner was.. well.. a clusterfuck. It was FREEZING outside and the wind was whipping, so the two block walk to Pinhead Susan's felt like 20 miles. Unfortunately, we didn't make reservations, so it was going to be a 45 minute wait. There were a few other places around, so we decided to try somewhere else. The next place we went to (Katey O'Byrnes?) also had a 45 minute wait. I could tell everyone was getting irritated and I felt bad, but there wasn't much I could do! We ended up with a table at The Grogg Shoppe, where the poor waitress seemed to be on her own for the whole place. She was just completely overwhelmed and I think we were really good about giving her the benefit of the doubt, instead of being bitchy. I was overly thrilled about my cheeseburger and fries (yep.. I cheated) and everyone else ordered their meals, some of which were dinners. We only had about an hour and a half before the show, and it was nice of the waitress to come out and let us know that dinners would never be done in time for the show. So, everyone grudgingly changed their orders, but it worked out, as the burgers were really good. I mean.. yes, we were starving so we probably would have eaten the ass out of a dead rhino, but I think they were still pretty good burgers. We made it back to Proctor's with plenty of time to spare, and even had a few beers during the show.

The show was sooo funny! I was so glad to hear everyone around me laughing, as I was the one who basically cajoled everyone into going to the show. From the first song to the last, the laughs never stopped. I am so used to hearing the voices from the Broadway show so it was a little bit of a different experience for me (and there were some changes that had to be made in the last few years), but I really enjoyed it and found myself sitting on my hands so I wouldn't poke everyone to let them know what fun was coming next! Everyone had a great time and I think I've redeemed myself from the Rent Debacle of 200something (I picked it.. I loved it... Everyone but Danny and I HATED it).

I spent Sunday down in Kingston watching Jason and some of the other guys bowl. They bowled like crap so they weren't quite as tense as normal, and I was having a great time. However, I had to come home cause my mom had made dinner, which was an AWESOME weight watchers chicken tetrazzini recipe. I'm not kidding.. it was REALLY good! It's way better than the easy macaroni and cheese I prepared tonight. I mean.. it's as close to mac and cheese as I'm getting so beggars can't be choosers, but it's not MY crazy cheesy mac and cheese! I cheated a little bit this weekend (I can't resist french fries..) but I still managed to lose another 2.4 pounds, which was more than I expected. I REALLY wanted a burrito from Moe's today, but since I did so well I really didn't want to cheat! I'd rather save all my points for Superbowl. I have no plans, but if something comes up, I want to be prepared!

I didn't make it on the treadmill tonight, and I feel like such a slacker. I'm heading up to Sue's tomorrow night so I guess I'll have to do my running when I get back from her place. It's so nice to have a treadmill in your house, especially since I won't get home till at least 9:30 - 10:00.

When I first started watching this, I wasn't really interested, but it turned out to be pretty entertaining. Give it a chance!

As usual, I lost my post-it note of things to post about. Well, that's not entirely true. It's just.. dated, since I started it on Friday.

This is a shame, but it makes sense.

OMG.. I don't know if anyone watched Private Practice this past week, but I was REALLY glad I had the house to myself, because I BAWLED for the last 15 minutes of the show, if not more. I'm serious.. I sobbed myself to sleep. I fully admit I'm an emotional girl, but that was crazy. I could NOT stop crying..

I watched On the Waterfront last night (finally), and it was really good. Black and white movies have got to be good to keep my attention. I guess I'm just a color movie snob! I'm still not 100% sure if I find young Marlon Brando attractive. I know he was this amazing sex symbol and all but I just don't see it. Maybe he's not my type.. which I guess is ok at this point, considering he's dead.

The Real World's 22nd season will take place in Cancun. From what I've seen of this season, it didn't seem quite as.. well.. skanky as the previous, but I'm sure Cancun will change that in a heartbeat.

Time for me to get a move on. I'm beat from cooking and grocery shopping.. two things I'm not very good at and don't enjoy doing! Hope your week started off great!

Last night's soccer game was a complete and utter bloodbath. We've played this team before and beat them, however their goalie was downright scary. She kicked the hardest I've ever seen a girl kick (our old goalie got out of the way of one of her goals for her own safety), and she takes up A LOT of the goal, which really hinders your ability to get around her. Tre managed to get a direct kick in, but to be honest, she didn't really try. How come I never get the chance to take the shot when the goalie doesn't try!? Anyway, they got up on us 5-1 in the first half because we looked like we'd never played soccer before.. EVER! It was painful to watch, and even more painful to be a part of! We came in guns blazing second half and while we didn't score, neither did they, so the game ended the same way the second half started. The ref was awful! He kept calling handballs, regardless of where the ball touched. Seriously, one ball hit someone's chest and another, their back. He was reaching and I don't think he's a big fan of us. Oh well.. These 10:00 games are really not good for the team, but we have another one next week so hopefully people get the chance to take a nap.

I was pretty disappointed when October Road was cancelled, but this perked me up just a litle bit!

Is George Clooney really going to suck it up and make a cameo appearance or two on ER? His camp isn't saying, but everyone else seems to think it's a done deal. I'll believe it when it comes out of his mouth, let's just put it that way!

Oscar nominations were announced this morning and there were some surprises and some really big snubs, one of which being Revolutionary Road. After Kate Winslet's double win at the Globes, she was nominated as Best Actress for her role in The Reader, because well.. who doesn't love a good Holocaust film? However, there were no other nominations (acting or directing) for the Globes Princess.

Click here for a full list of the nominees.

Benjamin Button almost tied Titanic for the most nominations, while Milk may have finally gotten the recognition it didn't receive from the Golden Globes. Personally, I'm shocked that Robert Downey Jr got nominated for Tropic Thunder. The Oscars aren't exactly notorious for recognizing comedic genius. Finally, Heath Ledger got his Oscar nomination (and one of very few for The Dark Knight) on the anniversary of his death.

My sister is out of town so I've got the house all to myself. I used that time to do Yoga on the Wii Fit and to run. I know, I use my time so wisely, don't I? I think I like yoga more than pilates. I don't necessarily feel either one of them the way I should, but I think I understand and am better at yoga than pilates.

I have too many shows to tape and watch at 9:00, so I need to get a move on. Enjoy your weekend and I'll give you a review of the Avenue Q show at Proctor's on Saturday night! I'm crazy excited about it.. I just can't wait to have others understand why I think it's so great! That, and I'm anxious to eat at Pinhead Susan's in Schenectady. I've never been there but I've heard a lot about it and since it's close to Proctor's, we're going to give it a shot.

And while I know he doesn't read or perhaps even know about this blog, Happy (early) Birthday Bill!!!!

On my way to work this morning I heard a dance mix of "Single Ladies" by Beyonce. Um.. why?

People in my office have strange ways of dressing. This is what I've witnessed in the past few days:
A woman wearing a completely black suit with tan shoes;
A woman wearing a tan dress, black transparent hose and tan open toed shoes. FYI - It's January.
A woman wearing peach jeans. Just because they're not blue, doesn't make them NOT jeans.
A FEW people wearing puffy vests. Since when have puffy vests become work wear?

We all know how much I hate when people wear black with brown and do it wrong, so this has certainly been a banner few days.

It's FINALLY official: Nick Markakis will be an Oriole until at least 2014! The O's have also come to terms withe Luke Scott, leaving only George Sherril for arbitration.

Watchmen will be coming to theaters as scheduled, which means now I really will have to ge the book soon! Maybe once I finish reading New Moon. I'm seriously hooked. I read 100 pages on my lunch the other day.

Now that Matthew Weiner has signed back on, Mad Men is scheduled to return with its new season in July.

When you think "kick ass Hollywood duo," don't you automatically think Cher and Johnny Knoxville? Someone does..

If this were to happen, I have to say I can only imagine how pleasantly surprised I would be.

I've got to get a move on. I have a 10:00 (yes.. that's PM) soccer game tonight so I can imagine I'm not going to be in very good spirits tomorrow. That means we won't get home until at least midnight tonight, and this is NOT our only late game. I don't know who we pissed off to get such a shitty schedule, but I apologize!!!

I ate pizza today for lunch and it was AMAZING.. and yes, I stayed within my points. You hae got to love Weight Watchers!

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Like I needed another reason to love Tom Colicchio... Regardless. I got one.. we have the same birthday!

Kimora Lee Simmons is expecting her third child, but her first with Djimon Hounsou. That's gonna be one TALL kid!

Fringe is back on TV tonight for the first time in what seems like forever and I have to say I'm downright giddy about it. Well, that and all the drama happening on 90210. I'm slightly ashamed, but in a good way.

I tried pilates last night. I don't know if I'm a big fan. I always have issues with breathing while I exercise and for some reason my back never seems to hit the floor the way it's supposed to. That's not a good thing with pilates. I think if Mari Winsor were in the room with me she would have been EXTREMELY disappointed. I just got my new Jillian Michaels DVD in the mail today, but I probably won't get a chance to try it out until this weekend. I have a 10:00 soccer game tomorrow night to prepare for!

Again, I left my post it note of notes at work so this is all I've got for the day. Don't forget to hump tomorrow!
Notice I’m not live blogging the inauguration.

To be honest, I don’t care. Ok, that’s not necessarily true. I do care who our President is and I understand that in being a minority, his inauguration is a big deal. However, that doesn’t mean I need to live stream it, listen to it, watch it or talk about it ALL DAY LONG. I literally got yelled at for not watching by one of my co-workers today because “we all need to help” and some other gobbledy gook. I’ll help (what help is it exactly that I’m supposed to do? I mean.. how is watching TV when I’m supposed to be working, helping?) when I get that economic stimulus check and when women stop getting paid less than men for the same job… Deal? Great..

We’ve been inundated with politics for the last two years. No offense, but I’ve never been that interested in it before, and this inauguration is not going to change that for me. I’ll catch the high points on the news or the Today show.

I send my heartfelt congratulations and best of luck to Barack Obama. I sure hope you live up to the thinly veiled expectations the citizens of the United States have set for you. If not, it’s gonna be a very painful fall from that pedestal!

Don’t take this the wrong way.. I really do get that this inauguration is a milestone and I hope things work out the way the rest of the world does. For my sake and his, it would be great if Barack Obama turns into the superhero that everyone expects him to be. Still doesn’t make me want to skip reading “New Moon” on my lunch break to watch it.. Chalk it up to cynicism and a lack of political interest. That, and I don't eat that early.. I voted.. Since when is more than that my civic duty?

One more thing: Why in the name of God do they do this outside during the coldest month of the year? Lots of credit to those people who stood outside for hours in the freezing cold temperatures to see a piece of history being made. You are obviously better and more politically minded people than me!

Ok, I've hopped off the soapbox. Enjoy the rest of your day and if you watched the inauguration, I do hope it was all you dreamed of and more. Let the Obama regime commence!

Today was my first weigh in at Weight Watchers and I'm happy to say I lost 3.8 pounds, even though I went on a bit of a bender yesterday. I ate ok, but I did drink way more than I expected to. Granted, I was happy that for a while Meadowgreens had MGD 64, but Tre and I drank them out of it pretty quickly! The other nice thing was that I was there from 2:30 - 11:30 and spent $25.00. A friend of ours was having fun and didn't want us to leave, so he basically paid for the majority of our drinks. That was an unexpected, but very welcome surprise!

I was supposed to go see Bride Wars all weekend, but it didn't happen, so instead I spent my evening making dinners for the week. I'm not a real big meal planner, but I'm doing my best. I've even found some other recipes, I just don't have enough room or time to make everything! I don't want to make something, then waste it.

Mad Men's Matthew Weiner has signed a contract to stay with the show, which is great news.

Stephanie on Rock of Love got booted for being an annoying bitch.. Well, that and apparently she had a boyfriend and talked tons of smack about Brett. Again.. you're on a reality TV show.. If you are on your cell phone (that you're not supposed to have) SOMEONE is gonna find out! He FINALLY kicked off scary ex porn star Brittaney, to keep my girl Beverly. I'm so happy, but I will miss the drama queens just a bit. I also think Brittaney is delusional and scary.. Apparently Brett felt the same way.

I had a long list of things to blog about, but I lost it. So I'm afraid this is all I've got time for. If I find the post-it, I'll be back. Enjoy your evening!

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Sometimes it really is the little things that can make your day. Granted, this is a big thing to me, but pretty minuscule to most. Regardless, it made me happy and hopefully it works out. I won't want to jump the gun or anything, but it'd be nice if I could get that Markakis jersey and not wonder if he'll be with the team.. um.. next week! I can't say the same for Brian Roberts :(.

I was having a good hair night last night, so I decided to go out.. To Meadowgreens.. For Coyote Ugly night. Next time I say I'm going to do that, please don't let me. I am obviously getting old because I didn't know the majority of the people there and I have a pretty good feeling I could have babysat for most of them. Also, I don't pretend to be stick thin and gorgeous, but I know I could tear it up on top of a bar (and will do so on St. Patrick's Day). However, I would never do it there.. where I know a lot of people who are more than happy to criticize my every move. I wish some of the girls that got on the bar had the same thought process. Let me just say, they don't call it coyote ugly night for nothing.. I've seen some scary stuff on that bar, that's all I can say!

She was kind of boring, so I can't say I'm surprised Deshawn Snow got the boot from the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Definitely way too normal for a Bravo reality show!

Yet he still made his flight.. Gotta love Hollywood and America!

It's no surprise, but The Office and 30 Rock both received early pickups and Heroes (believe it or not) might not be far behind.

My weekend of having nothing to do as usual wasn't as.. relaxing as I'd anticipated. But I did get on the treadmill today so that's a step in the right direction. I even ran.. a little! Baby steps people.. baby steps! Hope you enjoyed your weekend and I'll check back in soon!

I saw a shooting star on my way home from work tonight. I don't know why I like them so much. They should probably freak me out since things in the sky, should not fall out of it. However, I let that rule slide for shooting stars. And yes.. I wish on them.

Also on my way home from work tonight, I was thinking about the situation between J and I, when "If This Is It" by Huey Lewis and the News came on my Ipod. I wonder if that's a sign...

My office is downstairs from a collection agency of some sort, and they have these parking spots right near the door for their "Top Collector (Simply the Best)." No one is ever parked in these spots.

My sister and I are having a "Passion Party" in February. We had an awesome party a few years ago at our old apartment, which is when the following picture happened:
This was in our apartment, after the party. I mean, after perusing sex toys and other such accessories, what do you do but go out drinking!? Well.. we did and when we came back my sister insisted I wouldn't be able to take her down, rugby style. Apparently the only real secret is "stay low," which I did... and subsequently jacked her up against the wall. Everything looked fine until she got up.. and that hole is what remained. When we got booted from the apartment shortly after thanks to my landlord's mid-life crisis, I had deep regret over fixing it. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, this party will be just as fun, minus the property damage.

Nytropalooza pulled out a 4-3 win last night and just may have found ourselves a new goalie. As I said last week, our goalie quit this session so we've been trying to persuade someone to play goal so the rest of us don't have to. We convinced one of my sister's old players to play and then one of our other players stepped in for the second half. She did really well and we were all impressed with her shutout half. When we commended her on a job well done she said "well, I played keeper all through high school. I really never set foot on the field." Um.. WHAT? So yeah.. she found a new (old) position and I feel pretty confident with her in the goal! I'm really getting close to scoring a goal, but unfortunately it has yet to happen and my streak is still intact.
Diablo Cody, the screenwriter of Juno and Entertainment Weekly columnist, has scored a guest starring role on 90210. She's previously written about her love for the old show and her willingness to enjoy the new. I have a feeling she's more than excited, as it's an episode Jason Priestley is directing.

I was telling you about the Broadway skit on SNL the other night with Neil Patrick Harris as Mark from Rent. Here's what Anthony Rapp, who played Mark on Broadway and in the movie, had to say about NPH's impression of him.

Michael Scott certainly doesn't needs someone else to butt heads with, but one has been cast anyway.

So yeah.. a plane crashed into the Hudson River just outside Manhattan this afternoon. It seems the plane hit a flock of geese, forcing it to crash into the river. Luckily (and miraculously) no one on the plane was hurt!I have a friend who works in the city and travels alot, so I emailed him to be sure he was ok. For once he was in his office and not out and about, so he's just fine!

Ariane finally got the boot on Top Chef. I have to say, I kind of liked all the chefs at this point and was sad to see anyone go. While Ariane had redeemed herself, I still think she was probably the least talented of the bunch (which means a whole lot coming from the girl who only recently learned what a double burner was), but I don't think she deserved to go entirely. She kind of got hosed by Leah and I'm surprised she didn't get the boot. Course, once her boyfriend watches the show she probably WILL get the boot from him, if she hasn't already. Ditto for Hosea and his girlfriend. When will people realize that if you cheat in any way, shape or form on reality television, it's gonna get back to the person you've betrayed? I would think that one would be a no-brainer.

Anyway, it's been one hell of a week and I really can't wait for it to be over. I'm just going to watch Grey's (or as my co-worker says "the sci-fi version of Grey's") and hit the hay. I'll try to post this weekend, as my social calendar is somewhat... empty. Enjoy your weekend!

We really do live in a sick, sick world.

First day of Weight Watchers: Didn't go so bad to be honest. I was hungry, but you can't go from eating everything in sight to.. well.. nothing. :) I meant to start working out today, but I ended up working late and that kind of made me lose all momentum. I guess it's one step at a time.. This week I start eating better.. NEXT week I work out.. Baby steps..

We had our quarterly staff meeting at work today. From what I heard, it's basically a bitchfest and could quite possibly turn into a clusterfuck of epic proportions. I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. No one threw blame on anyone in particular and most of the meeting revolved around bitching about how disgusting the ladies room is, which cracks me up because if everyone just cleaned up after themselves, it wouldn't be so gross. It's not even that it IS that gross, there's just some weird things that go on in there. For example, one day last week I walked into the bathroom and one of the stalls was closed with toilet paper over the door. I asked one of the girls if that was some sort of freaky office sex code or if someone just missed flushing day in kindergarten. I'm thinking it was flushing day. Seriously.. learn how to use a plunger if it's that bad or flush until it's gone, I don't know what else to tell you.

Well I guess this explains why she wasn't at the Golden Globes!

This really makes me sad. He and Peyton were such a great pair and I can only hope that when his replacement Jim Caldwell (his Associate Head Coach) takes over his position, he realizes what big shoes he has to fill. Best of luck in the future Coach!

The Orioles have signed their first Japanese player in the form of Koji Uehara, a right handed pitcher. He's a veteran in Japan, and will help to solidify the iffy O's rotation. There are also rumors going around that Chris Ray and catcher Greg Zaun will sign one year deals. I like the idea of Zaun being around, even if it's just to have someone there in case bad things happen to the rookie.

My computer is being a bitch so I have to cut this short. Soccer game tomorrow night and still no goalie. It's going to be an UGLY session! Hump 'em if you got 'em and I promise to live vicariously through you.

I knew that by only live blogging the first two hours of the Golden Globes I would miss some big things.. AND I DID!

Kate Winslet was a double award winner, as she took home the Golden Globe for Best Actress for her role in Revolutionary Road. I have heard such great things about this movie and I'm really excited to see it.. if it ever comes around here. I swear I'm living in the wrong town for my interests! Anyway, her speech was adorable. She was so overcome with emotion and she waxed poetic about her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio (whom I've never been fond of but has had some great roles that have forced him to grow on me) and her husband, Revolutionary Road director, Sam Mendes. She was a favorite, but I don't think anyone REALLY expected her to take home both awards.

I have yet to see The Wrestler, but I'm kind of excited about it. I don't believe I've ever seen a Mickey Rourke film and his performance in this role has created so much buzz and now.. he actually won the Golden Globe! I was very surprised by his win, however in retrospect, not so much. The Golden Globes are well known for their "sentimental" favorites. Still, a movie I really hope I get the chance to see.

Finally, best movie of the year went to Slumdog Millionaire in a sort of upset. It did have a lot of hype, but there were such great films in the running that no one though this little movie that could would actually win! Slumdog Millionaire won plenty of awards last night and this was just the cherry on top! Again, a movie I had heard little about prior to awards show time, but I can't wait to see it.

Today was a busy day and night, as I spent an exorbitant amount of money on groceries (thank you Weight Watchers) so I could start fresh tomorrow. I think I'm ready for it. I want to work out, my free time (or lack thereof) just gets in the way, so that's the one thing I need to figure out!

Ooh.. Rock of Love.. Bret knocked off 3 more skanks, one of which was the belly dancer.. yet he still kept the porn star he never seems to have any interest in. Sometimes I just don't get his choices... Damn you Bret Michaels!

Tomorrow is another day...

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Pierce Brosnan gets to come out all by his lonesome to introduce Mamma Mia. God I hope he doesn't sing.

Ugh.. Diddy and Kate Beckinsale.. Yeah.. she's gorgeous and we hate her. Beautiful in white. I wonder if he'll let her speak. They're there to announce the nominations for Best Original Score: Benjamin Button, Changeling, Defiance, Slumdog Millionaire and Frost/Nixon, with the award going to Slumdog Millionaire, which Diddy allowed Kate to anounce. He's good like that. Always thinking of others ;).

Jane Krakowski and David Duchovny. Apparently David's son wants him to come home happy, but Daddy lost. Who cares.. Best Actress for TV Comedy: Christina Applegate (Samantha Who?), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Tina Fey (30 Rock), Debra Messing (The Starter Wife) and Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds). I wonder who'll get it... I was kidding.. Of course the winner is Tina Fey and no one was happier to announce it than Jane Krakowski, her co-star. Not pleased with Tina's dress though and for some reason she just hasn't looked happy to be there tonight. I hope that's not the case! Oh wait.. she's being funny talking about the HFPA action figures she had as a kid and the internet people who don't like her, and has told her haters to suck it! Yep.. that bad mood thing was just a fluke or me looking into it too much.

OK.. we're coming up to the Cecil B. DeMille award winner, Steven Spielberg. I'm getting kind of tired and have some things to do so I'm afraid I'm going to have to call it a night. Well, that and I really want to see who Bret Michaels kicks off the Rock of Love Bus. I know... I have a reality TV problem.

Hope you all enjoyed my live blogging and if you didn't... well to quote Tina Fey "you can suck it."
Renee Zellweger.. Oh lord.. I don't know who does her hair.. maybe the same person who did Drew Barrymore's.. I wonder who did her dress, cause I know she wears the same designer a lot (and I think it's Carolina Herrera but don't quote me on that). Regardless, I'm not a fan... of any of it. She's there to introduce The Reader.

Megan Fox and Terrance Howard. Megan Fox was on the red carpet talking about how self-conscious she is. Suck it Megan. The nominees for Actor in a mini-series/movie are Ralph Fiennes (Bernard and Doris), Paul Giamatti (John Adams), Keifer Sutherland (24: Redemption), Tom Wilkinson (Recount) and Kevin Spacey (Recount). The winner is Paul Giamatti for John Adams. I just like him so much. He's so.. spacey and not cute so his talent shines through. I wish that would happen for a woman!

Next up are Glenn Close (in a pantsuit) and Laurence Fishburne: Nominees for Best TV Series, comedy or musical are 30 Rock, Californication, Entourage, The Office and Weeds. And the winner is: 30 Rock.. yet another big surprise. I like the show a lot, but I was kind of hoping for an upset win for Entourage... Again, cause I just got done watching the whole season this past week. Apparently Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan agreed that Tracy would speak for the show if Barack Obama won and he also states "deal with it Cate Blanchett." I don't know if she responded to that request. Tracy has a nickname for everyone, including Lorney Mike AKA Lorne Michaels.
OOOHHH.. Gerard Butler.. Yummy.. He's introducing In Bruges, which Chris and I were just discussing. I want to see it, he says it doesn't look funny. I think it's on my Netflix list, but what isn't on my netflix list?

Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen, teaming up again! Seth takes a shot at Mickey Rourke, who they don't show. Screenplay nominees are for Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt and The Reader. The Globe goes to Slumdog Millionaire. I am really looking forward to seeing that movie. It ould really score an upset win tonight for Best Picture.

Amy Poehler and Patrick Dempsey: Amy doesn't look bad for having a baby not so long ago! Best Actor in a TV Series, musical or comedy: Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Steve Carell (The Office), Kevin Connolly (Entourage), David Duchovny (Californication) and Tony Shalhoub (Monk). Alec Baldwin is the winner, but I really would have liked to see Kevin Connolly win. Not Tony Shalhoub. I just don't find him funny for some reason. J LOVES Monk and the show just makes me cringe. Alec shows his age by stating he used to bring Rumer Willis juice boxes on movie sets, which I think creeped a few people out cause I don't think he got quite the response he was hoping for.
Tom Brokaw.. hmm.. I bet he's introducing Frost/Nixon... Holy crap, I'm right! I guess it wasn't too much of a stretch, but you never know! I'm not really interested in this film what with my lack of political interest, but it has caught my attention.. Mainly when Nixon asks Frost if he's fornicated the night before and that he says if the President does something illegal, it's not illegal.

OOH.. Colin Farrell.. UGH.. mustache :(. Best Foreign Language Film: The Baader Meinhof Complex (Germany), Everlasting Moments (Sweden/Denmark), Gomorra (Italy), I've Loved You So Long (France) and Waltz with Bashir. The award goes to Waltz with Bashir (Israel), but only after we find out Colin Farrell has a cold.. not whatever it used to be. I think that might be just a BIT too much information.

Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal from The Dark Knight. I never quite know what to say about Maggie's dress choices. They're strange.. yet I somehow respect them in a weird way. Best Actress in a mini-series or TV Movie: Catherine Keener (An American Crime), Laura Linney (John Adams), Shirley Maclaine (Coco Chanel), Susan Sarandon (Bernard and Doris) and Judi Dench (Cranford). Laura Linney is the winner. I think she's on Inside the Actor's Studio this week and while I don't think I've ever watched a whole episode, but she seems very down to earth and funny. I guess asymmetrical lines are in this awards show season. Her dress is an interesting color.. Not something you see all the time and who would think it'd look nice on a blonde.
Yay.. eye candy Jake Gyllenhaal, here to introduce The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. God, I realy loathe Brad Pitt with a mustache. It does nothing for him whatsoever.

Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore. WOW.. seriously.. that dress on Drew is amazing.. SOMEONE has been working out! Nominees for Best Miniseries or TV movie: A Raisin in the Sun (ABC).. OH god.. now Diddy thinks he's an actor.. shoot me. Bernard and Doris (HBO), Cranford (PBS.. no wonder I'd never heard of it), John Adams (HBO) and Recount (HBO). And the Golden Glboe goes to John Adams. HBO does it again! Tom Hanks and some guy I thought was Steven Spielberg (apparently his name is Gary) accept the award as executive producers. Well, at least Tom Hanks did.

Demi Moore. Seriously.. how old is she? That's sickening! She give some advice to her daughter, and then gives the nominees for Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture: Tom Cruise (Tropic Thunder), Robert Downey Jr (Tropic Thunder), Ralph Fiennes (The Duchess), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Doubt) and Heath Ledger (The Dark Knight). Seriously.. how much does it suck to be the guys nominated against him. I mean.. OF COURSE Heath Ledger was going to win! I'm not saying he didn't deserve it, but it's like going into a gunfight with a Swiss Army Knife. I did enjoy the little scene they showed from The Dark Knight prior to Christopher Nolan accepting the award for him. It was a great performance and I'm glad he won, although it's a shame he's not there to appreciate it.
My gay friend Chris says Drew Barrymore's hair is retro. I do not agree. I think it's more wind tunnel. Other than that, she looks amazing!

Ricky Gervais is up next, and I think he has a drink in his hand as he's shushing everyone. That's why the Globes are better than the Oscars. He's a little peeved that he's not nominated, but apparently gave Kate Winslet good advice: Holocaust movies mean awards! Now the men on his shoulders are talking to him. It's getting a little scary.. come to find out he's there to introduce the nominated film "Happy-Go-Lucky," which I think actually played in Hudson for like.. a day.

UGH.. I loathe the Jonas Brothers.. I don't exactly know why, but I just do. Obviously, they're here to introduce the nominees for Outstanding Animated Feature: Bolt, Wall-E and Kung-Fu Panda. I'm kinda peeved that I haven't seen any of them. I'm way behind on my children's movies. The award goes to... Wall-E! I think it's hysterical that animated films have directors. I just don't get it.. Someone explain it to me!

Johnny Depp, looking only slightly skanky. I don't know what that facial hair is, but apparently everyone loves him. He never did it for me. Anyway, the nominees for Best Supporting Actress are: some girl from Vicky Cristina Barcelona, some girl from Happy-Go-Lucky, Meryl Streep from Mama Mia, Emma Thompson from Last Chance Harvey and Frances McDormand from Burn After Reading. Sally Hawkins from Happy-Go-Lucky is the surprise winner. Poor girl has no idea where she's going to get to the stage and all these celebrities are stopping her. She is completely starstruck and it's kind of adorable! Ugh.. I hate it when they cry. I have no f'n clue who she is, but I have tears in my eyes and will probably bawl my brains out before the night is through. Emma Thompson checks to see if she's ok, but I really think she might faint. I wonder if anyone has! At least she remembered to pick the award back up after she put it down.. that's a plus!
Don Cheadle.. Sporting the bald look and introducing "Burn After Reading," which I'm still pissed I haven't seen. I know it didn't get great reviews, but I am still really interested! BTW - The Coen Brothers have never hired Don Cheadle and he's only SLIGHTLY bitter..

Eva Mendes is up next.. She looks beautiful in white, but holy bow on that dress. The necklace is a nice touch though. She's here to introduce the HFPA, Jorge something or another. Yeah.. he's Latin of some sort and very glad to be there. Doesn't want to give a boring speech, so he welcomes everyone and requests everyone have a good time. Good job Jorge!

Hayden Panettiere and Zac Efron: Why does she always wear a dress that looks 8 sizes too big for her. The nominees are Michael C. Hall (Dexter), Jon Hamm (Mad Men and my pick), Hugh Laurie (House), Jonathan Rhys-Meyers (The Tudors) and Gabriel Byrne (In Treatment). The award goes to Gabriel Byrne... WHAT? He couldn't even show up to accept the award. I hate it when they do that.

Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto from the new Star Trek. Sylar is kind of sexier every time I see him. I feel dirty about that. Nominees for Best TV Actress, Drama are: Sally Field (Brothers and Sisters), Sally's looking a little old tonight... January Jones (Mad Men), Anna Paquin (True Blood and my pick!), Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer), Mariska Hargitay (SVU)... She's not there! WTF? YAY!!! Anna Paquin won! That's so cool!!! I just finished watching the show this past week so it's fresh in my mind and so exciting! Well.. at least I got someone to win. I think that's quite a coup for a show no one thought would last a full season.

OH DREW BARRYMORE... What is that hair? It's like.. boozy Dynasty wife or something, circal 1988. NOT attractive.
Eva Longoria sure is gunning for Best Dressed. That dress is AMAZING.. I'm pretty sure we won't hear any pregnancy rumors after tonight! She and Simon Baker introduce Rumer Willis as Miss Golden Globe, with mom Demi Moore blowing her kisses.

Best Supporting Actor: Nominees are Neil Patrick Harris, Denis Leary (for Recount), Jeremy Piven (WE ALL KNOW WHO I"M ROOTING FOR), Blair Underwood, Tom Wilkinson (for John Adams). The award goes to... Tom Wilkinson. Damnit! I knew it would happen, but I can still be disappointed. I hate that TV miniseries and movies go along with shows. I don't think it's fair and I never have, not just because my main man Piven won. I would feel the same way even if NPH won.. and I would have been happy, cause he's a funny funny guy! I really enjoyed watching him on SNL last night. His skit about Broadway was absolutely hysterical! It would have been kind of cool if NPH had won too, considering he's the only nominee that wasn't on an HBO production.

Ooh.. they get to give out the award for Best Supporting Actress too: Eileen Atkins (Cranford?), Laura Dern (Recount), Melissa George (In Treatment), Rachel Griffiths (Brothers and Sisters) and Dianne Wiest (In Treatment). Yeah.. I don't really care who wins, but the Golden Globe goes to Laura Dern.. I'm cool with that. I haven't seen Recount, but I heard good things about it and I really like her. She was Miss Golden Globe in 1982. She shouldn't look that good. Forget what I said.. I hate her. Then again, I'm not a fan of the dress or the hair so maybe I'll let this win slide. So, the guy who directed Austin Powers directed Recount huh? Interesting..

First political statement of the year. I guess it's appropriate that it's by a woman who starred in a movie named "Recount."
Ok.. Jennifer Lopez had twins and looks STUNNING in that dress. I'm not saying it's a real attractive dress, but it sure as hell is a dress you're going to remember. J-Lo tries to get the cameraman's attention, but he's a little more interested in the nominees. Poor Jen.. Can't catch a break. The nominees are Amy Adams, Penelope Cruz, Viola Davis, Marisa Tomei and Kate Winslet. The award goes to (SHOCKER) Kate Winslet for The Reader. I think she's already crying and she hasn't even gotten to the podium yet! Good thing she's at the first table, cause it sure did take her long enough to get up there! She's got a list and kinda makes me sick, cause she really is ridiculously beautiful. And she has an accent. God, I hate her. I love how British people pronounce the name Bernard like Bernerd.. It sounds so much less dorky! I love the Globes.. They hardly ever cut anyone off when they run long.

Whoa.. Sting.. holy mountain man! Oh.. Best Original Song.. yeah, that's a boring category thatI would only care about if Huey Lewis and the News were nominated for their contribution to the Pineapple Express soundtrack. DUH.. Bruce Springsteen won for his song "The Wrestler" from... you guessed it.. THE WRESTLER! How mortifying for him would it have been if he'd gotten beat by Miley Cyrus?
Ok here goes: I'm going to try to live blog the Globes! I don't know how long my attention span will take it, but I'll do it for a while. I didn't get to see most of the red carpet so I'm sure I'll manage to make some observations about that too. Please don't expect too much... and I apologize in advance!

Saturday, January 10, 2009

I've had such a crazy busy and tiring week that blogging has taken a backseat. Ok.. well.. it's kind of in the trunk, but I'm working on getting it back to shotgun, I swear!

LOTS to cover, so let's not waste any more time:

As we all know, I don't pay any attention to politics, current events (unless you can find it on TMZ) or.. well.. the news. But I saw Ann Coulter's interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show this week, and all I can say is DAMN.. that bitch is batshit crazier than most! I just remember her continuously referring to our new president as B. Hussein Obama. Yes.. he's the antichrist Ann, cause however many years ago, his mother gave him a middle name that HAPPENS to be the same as a scary dictator type. You're right.. it's all his fault. Like I said.. the reigning Queen of Crazy Town..

The other day on the way to work I heard "Freedom" by Wham. It was then and only then, I realized why George Michael named his classic hit "Freedom 90." Seriously.. I never realized it until then. It went completely over my head. Perhaps if he'd made "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go 90" I would have gotten it a little sooner.

On the MSN web page the other day, they had a link where you could find out who your celebrity love match would be. I was intrigued, so I clicked it. NOTHING ever gets blocked on my work computer, however I couldn't find out who my celebrity love match was because it was blocked as the content was "cult/occult." Does that mean my celebrity love match was Marilyn Manson? Ew.

Oh yeah.. this snow can stop ANY TIME. I'm supposed to go to Sue's baby shower tomorrow and while I'm not saying I adore showers of any kind, I'm anxious to give her my present! However, she knows about it and threatened my life if I risked mine to come to her shower, so at least I know she'll understand if I can't make it.

90210 is BACK with a vengeance! An HIV scare, teen pregnancy and a fake illegitimate son. Oh 90210, how I've missed you so!

Then there are my Housewives.. This week's episode was pretty catty, mostly thanks to Vicki and Tamra. I'm not saying Lynne is the sweetest girl in the world, but be a little more subtle when you completely ostracize someone! Next week's episode looks like an ultimate trainwreck when Gretchen gets drunk and seemingly seduces (or allows herself to be seduced by) Ryan, Tamra's son! I know!!! It's what to watch!

Soccer was.. well.. interesting. It was the first game of the session and only hours prior, our goalie bagged. We had enough players, but NO GOALIE! Who wants to play goalie? No one! lol.. Nikki and Alyssa picked up the slack and did a great job. We lost to a great team, 3-2, and the one goal they got could not have been stopped by ANYONE! Unfortunately, I could not have kicked a ball if it had been glued to my foot. I don't know what my problem was, but I seriously whiffed at least twice. I just didn't have it that night for some reason.

T-minus a day until I start Weight Watchers again.. the constant eating has commenced and will continue through tomorrow. Thank you for asking!

I went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button this afternoon. I really liked it, but I don't know if I would say it was the best movie I've ever seen. It was really long and didn't feel like it, but I guess I expected more. The makeup was amazing and it was a great story. I guess there was just so much hype, ya know? Kind of like Heath Ledger's performance in The Dark Knight.. but that lived up to it. Let me reiterate.. I really enjoyed it..

Speaking of today, THIS happened not far from where I live. Actually, on the highway I take to get to work every day. Thank God no one was hurt but the gunman! The chances of that are pretty slim, wouldn't you think?

I hate to disappoint my sister, but her boyfriend got married...

Get well soon Patrick Swayze!!!!

I've spent a busy night basically doing nothing but playing around on Facebook, so I'm gonna call it a night! I'm going to attempt to live blog the Golden Globes tomorrow, but I make no promises! Drive carefully if you're in the Northeast!!

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Thanks to Shannon, I am no longer a hot mess. At least my hair isn't and that is a step in the right direction.

I'm gonna suck it up and try Weight Watchers (again) next week. That means, guess who's eating their face off this week!? I started with a Quizno's chicken carbonara sub and I can only imagine where it will end. I'm supposed to have jury duty next week, but since there's a big trial going on this week, my hopes will surely be dashed (I mean that.. I REALLY wan jury duty)!

Is it really true!? Will this be the year Lindsey Lohan realizes A "Oh yeah.. I don't like chicks in that way" or B "If I do date chicks, I'm gonna make sure they're hot!" Only time will tell.

As I'm sure everyone knows, John Travolta and Kelly Preston's son Jett died on New Year's Day while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas. There's been lots of speculation about the true cause of his death and even whether the family's belief in Scientology has something to do with him not taking correct meds for his seizure disorder. Regardless, someone's child is dead and that's a terribly unfortunate thing. Hopefully people will respect their privacy, at least for a little while!

I wish this were true, but to be honest, I really don't believe it..

My two least favorite DWTS dancers are engaged... Ok.. maybe not my 2 least favorite. I definitely hate Derek Hough more..

For once (besides when Peyton hosts), I'm actually looking forward to Saturday Night Live this weekend. Neil Patrick Harris is hosting and Taylor Swift is the musical guest.

In baby news, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are the proud parents of another baby girl, while Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O'Connell welcomed twin girls.

So yeah.. we talked about me going to the gyno yesterday and I have to pose a question that might be slightly embarassing.. for me: Does anyone else's doctor give rectals during their annual? I've done some research (asked my friends) and it seems like I'm the only one who gets doubly violated once a year! However, I prefer to think of it as my doctor being overly thorough. It's all in how you sell it, right?

And on THAT note, I'm gonna call it a night.. I just can't concentrate on 90210 and type at the same time! Well, that and I would like to start praying the storm won't come. However, if it does (as Al Roker assures me it will) I might not bother making the trip in to work. That's what floating holidays are for, right?

Monday, January 05, 2009

Sometimes you just know your day isn't going to go well. Case in point:

I was just saying how great I've been sleeping lately (minus Ambien) and I woke up at 4:00 am.. wide awake. I think I might have fallen back to sleep around 6. My alarm goes off at 6:10.

I look like a bushwacker. My hair is a month overdue for a cut and I pray to God I don't have to meet any new people, lest they think I work here on some sponsorship program with the homeless.

As I walked out of my house to clear off my car, I sailed down my three back steps.. on my ass. And yes Mom, I WAS wearing my brand new boots. As I slid around my car, I started to think "hey.. that snow last week wasn't so bad."

To top it all off, today was my annual visit to the gynecologist. I really love my doctor, but every year she asks me if I'm married (No.. not so much) and so this year I told her I was gunning for a geriatric pregnancy. She then let me know it was 35, not 34 (woo hoo.. a whole 'nother year) and that they used to be called AMA pregnancies, standing for against medical advice. Yep.. that's encouraging.

I think J and I are on a break. Ya know.. like Ross and Rachel on Friends, except we're fatter, shorter and don't have as good a haircut. I say I think, cause I don't think either of us want to be the one to make the decision. Nope.. neither of us can pull the trigger. That can't be a good sign.

And to make the weekend even better, Saturday night I was called a C U Next Tuesday for the first time in my life (I know.. really) and the Colts lost.. in overtime. Maybe if Peyton's WIFE hadn't been at the game, they would have won.. Bitter.. party of one!

There's only one thing that can brighten a girl's spirits (besides my trip to Sue's tonight.. FINALLY) and that was the premiere of Rock of Love Bus on VH1. I didn't get to hear most of it, as J and I were on the phone ignoring what the other was saying (hee hee) but I do recall a girl doing a test tube shot out of her vag. Seriously.. Even Brett Michaels said in 22 years on the road, he'd never seen anything like that before. Amazingly enough, she was eliminated, along with a group of some other fame whores.. He was kind enough to give the ex-porn star a second chance though. That Brett Michaels.. he has a heart of GOLD!

If New Year's Eve is any indication of how 2009 is going to be, I see a lot of fun in my future! Probably one of the best and fun New Year's I've had in a very long time. Thanks to Nikki for putting it all together and for including me in it. It was well worth it!!!I think I might like shrimp. Seriously! I'm getting adventurous in my old age.

Thank God Jen has long arms. She took LOTS of pictures like this.. I could have never done it and actually had people in the pictures. This is Me, Fish and Jen on the dance floor.

All the women at our table. Everyone looked great and had a blast!

Nikki, Eddie and Tre would rather sing to Celine Dion, than slow dance to her music. This is me, having a Roz's Danceworks flashback. Mom thinks she still has my hat like this in the attic. She might be right.

Hope everyone had as great a New Year's Eve as I did!
