Yet another good reason why I've been a blogging delinquent...
So, here's the story: Tre heard meowing in our basement that week, but couldn't find anything. She was home on Veteran's Day and in the basement, when Brewski made his appearance. She managed to coax him out of the hole in the wall he was living in (he's so tiny he must have burrowed in from outside) and he ate his weight in chicken. We took him to the vet who said he couldn't be more than five weeks old, which is pretty early to be away from the mother. He goes in for shots this coming week. We initially thought he was a girl and named him Gracie, but apparently we were wrong (in our defense, the vet said it's tough to tell at such a young age). Tre wanted to name him Reggie, but I refused. He doesn't look like a Reggie! Mom suggested Brewski and it's the only one we could agree on (Tre's list - Apollo, Quentin and Colton.. apparently the cat went to boarding school or something).
So.. yeah.. now we're cat people.. which is a little tough since i'm a little allergic to him, but we'll work it out... Benadryl is a god-send!
Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I made my first ever Amaretto Cheesecake. My grandpa used to make them and they were my absolute favorite. The mixer broke halfway through, but thankfully it didn't matter. The cheesecake came out great, so much so that i had to have 3 slices myself!
The only disappointing thing about Thanksgiving was that somehow, our Wii went missing. Our front room has been un-usable since June, when the ceiling fell in. We took everything out of the room and put it in the dining room until it was slightly cleaned up. Thankfully, we put all the stuff back in the front room a while ago, but didn't notice if anything was missing. We went looking for some Wii games yesterday and couldn't find them,. The more we looked, we realized that not only were the games gone, so is the actual Wii console, 2 controllers and charger. We're completely baffled. We didn't let anyone borrow it. It's absolutly random and all we can think is that some of hte workers that were here stole it, although that'd be pretty ballsy and obvious... if we had noticed it 5 months ago lol..Now.. we've got nothing, which really sucks as I spent half of Thankgiving playing Donkey Kong Country Returns at my parent's house and was looking forward to more of the same today.
What else? While I'm disappointed that Jennifer Grey won DWTS (not because of her, but because of my loathsome attitude toward her partner, Derek Hough), I know she deserved it. I don't know if I've ever seen anyone do that well on the show. However, I don't necessarily think it's fair. She did star in one of the most iconic dancing movies ever made. I was pushing for Lacey Schwimmer and Kyle Massey! They were way more entertaining! Although I have to say, all things considered, I didn't think Bristol Palin did too bad in the final. Did she deserve to be there?! I wouldn't go that far, but she could have done a lot worse.
I started reading The Hunger Games trilogy last week and I'm completely breezing through the books. I know they're considered YA (Young Adult) but so is Twilight and me and half the world enjoyed those as well! I highly recommend and i'm only halfway through the second one!
As always, I'll try to be good, but I can't make any promises! Hope you have great holidays!

Yesterday, I learned the allure of a $.10 superfecta, which I missed by one god damn horse in the Breeder's Cup. I don't know where that #6 horse came from but he sure did lose me approximately $100. Bastard....
If I don't get caught at work late on Wednesday (which will now happen since I have something I'm excited about to do), I'm going to my first Zumba class! I've never taken one but I've heard lots of great things about it and I think I'd really like it! I admit, I miss dance quite a bit, so maybe this will be a good substitute. I'll let you know how it works out (IF it works out).
I've been really busy with fall softball, so I haven't had the opportunity to go to the gym I shell out cash for every month. However, tomorrow should change that and I just hope it doesn't fall down when I walk in. My friend wants me to run this "Diva" Half Marathon with her in Long Island next October. As much as I hate running, it is my body's best way to lose weight (of which I need to do.. in spades) and it'll give me something to work towards.. Again.. we'll see how that goes.. Even my ill-fitting clothes haven't been able to motivate me, so we'll see what happens!
I'm excited to see Kathy Griffin tonight at the Palace. If I'm not mistaken, this will be my third time and she cracks me up every single time. Looking forward to that AND dinner at Bombers Burrito Bar.. Disco Fries, here I come!!!
I know I'm a little late, but did we even DISCUSS Project Runway? Hippy Gretchen over Mondo? Really!? Oh Nina and Michael.. what were you thinking? You just KNOW they bullied Simpson into it. Michael probably told her that she DIDN'T look like she as wearing a shiny trash bag that added 20 pounds to her frame... Bad choice.. that outfit did nothing for her body, which is much better than most!

1 - Not responding to any of their attempts to contact you OR
2 - Making up some elaborate, yet semi-believable story as to why you can't date them and apologize profusely for being an idiot.
I went with #2. I'm sorry! I know it might be wrong, but I would hate it if I had met someone and talked to them and then they never responded! For someone people believe may be an ice-cold bitch at times, I really do have feelings and I don't want to necessarily hurt anyone else's (unless they deserve it.. and PLENTY of people deserve it). So yeah.. I hope it works.. My "man" is really pissed that he found texts in my phone and I figured making a new facebook friend wouldn't help our already slightly volatile relationship... Hate me if you want, but I'm not good under pressure!

And thanks to Aubrey Huff for.. well.. the rally thong.. I'm a boxers/boxer briefs gal myself.. but I surely wouldn't kick Aubrey out of bed for wearing the rally thong.. While I was bitter when he left, I did always like him as a player and I'm glad that he could contribute so significantly to their win (HR wise.. not thong wise)...

The O's season is over, and while they may have lost their last game, they did go out with a bang. August and September were GOOD months! I got to go to two games and the O's managed to win them both against non-cellar dwelling AL East teams. What more could a girl ask for?
Soccer team scored our first win last night.. We are now 1-2-2... One win is better than none, am I right!?
I'm gearing up to buy my next Kindle book.. I have a list and while I tried to find a free ones, they're mainly the classics and stuff I would never read, so that kind of went by the way side. I mean.. why read Pride and Prejudice when you can read Tim Gunn's "A Guide to Quality, Taste and Style"... Decisions...
Speaking of Project Runway, two out of three of the mean girls are gone and Mondo is KILLING it! If that man does NOT make it into the Final 3, I'm no longer watching. ok.. that's a lie, but I probably said that about the whole Chris Daughtry thing on Idol and I stuck to my guns, so don't tempt me..
Finally.. I need a Halloween costume.. as every other year, I'm thinking flapper.. but I'd like something more inventive.. My brain's not complying.. I take requests..

Check out Justin Timberlake in The Social Network, opening this weekend! Looks like an interesting flick and I loved the music in the trailer.. a haunting cover of Radiohead's "Creep" as sung by a Belgian girl's choir by the name of Scala & Kolacny Brothers. I've tried to find some other stuff of theirs online, but to no avail.
Tonight I'm going to finally see Easy A! Nothing like some funny mindless fluff and popcorn for dinner.. At this rate I might see The Social Network by Christmas...
At least tomorrow's Friday..

So let's concentrate on TV instead, shall we?
I have yet to watch last night's Top Chef reunion, but that didn't stop me from hearing about this. I am downright giddy and already rooting for Jamie, Jen Carrol and Dale (gay Dale, not Asian Dale). I haven't had the time to get into the dessert show, but this will surely bring me back!
Tonight marks the premiere of MANY shows, including The Big Bang Theory on it's new night. I'm not thrilled about this, as my DVR was already in overdrive on Thursday nights, but I've come to love this show and can't wait to see what happens with Blossom and Sheldon (Sorry Mayim, you'll always be Blossom to me!). Anyway, to hold you over, hopefully you can check out this funny clip from Craig Ferguson...
Almost forgot, not even J-Lo and Steven Tyler will get me to watch American Idol this year.. Fox should stop beating a dead horse and concentrate on something else.. If I knew what that was, I wouldn't be looking for said part-time job now would I?
OOH! Kathy Griffin is coming to town (have I mentioned that yet?) and I'm so excited! I got tickets this morning and while we got the cheap seats ($100? COME ON! Not a chance) they're still on the first level and pretty decent, so I'm happy!!! Granted, she's worth every penny, but I'm trying to SAVE, not spend!

I met a guy on the 4th of July, at a mutal friend's party. Things had been going pretty well, I thought. He's in the midst of getting a divorce so we kept things low key. Well, at least that's what I thought was the case. Come to find out, while I thought we were dating, he was of the opinion that we were simply sleeping together.. You can imagine my surprise. This happened last Wednesday.
Last MONDAY, we had decided to get tickets to the Red Sox -Orioles game that took place this past Monday at Fenway (cause apparently, that's what you do when you're just sleeping with someone..) Obviously, he chose not to go, leaving me holding the bag on these two tickets. Again, you can imagine how I felt about this, not to mention the situation itself. Also, after me asking on both Wednesday and Thursday how he wanted to contend with this situation, he waited until Friday to let me know he didn't want to go. However, I had already assumed the worst and set it up so my friend from college would go with me. Long story short, she and I had a great time AND the Orioles won... which made me happy just cause they won and purely out of spite. If I may say so myself, I got some good seats! Lol.. It took every ounce of self control I had not to send him a pic of the view... I'm taking the high road on this one, that's for damn sure, and if that whole karma being a bitch thing is true, I've got some REALLY good shit coming my way!
So, at this point I'm basically going to rely on the kindess of strangers/friends to find me a man because I am obviously the worst judge of character in the world. So yeah... work on that blogosphere.. I like 'em tall and bald. At this point in my life, there aren't many restrictions. Oh wait.. non-smoker :). There.. now hustle on out there and score me a man!
Glee started last night, and I didn't realize how much I'd missed it! I mean.. Jay-Z, Lady Gaga AND a song from A Chorus Line!? Did Ryan Murphy read my diary? (I don't have a diary, but I sure wish I did.. then I wouldn't have to recount these stories from memory alone!)
Speaking of musical theater, does anyone else simply adore Mondo on Project Runway!? I wasn't really feeling him in the beginning, but after his triumphant win this past week and his adorable wardrobe homage to "Cabaret", how can you not love him? I love him about as much as I want the mean girls (Gretchen and Ivy) to bomb a challenge big time (yes.. even more than Ivy bombed the one before last).
Fall co-ed soccer is going ok.. we've had two ties and one loss, all of the games were ones we could/should have won, but we've had some really crappy calls by referees who don't speak English... therefore, we're not quite sure what the call is half the time.
It's DVR time, as the new fall season has begun! Hope you enjoyed your hump day! (See? I'm trying to be a better blogger!)
Monday, September 20, 2010
But don't worry... while work is increasingly busy and bowling, soccer and fall ball have started, I'm giving up on men, so that should free up some time in my busy schedule! All I can say about that is that I should have known better.. When things seem like they're going well, you should know the hammer's about to drop!
Anyway, I had some friends in town this weekend becuase they were competing in the Warrior Dash up in Windham, NY. This is what they looked like afterwards...
Sexy, right? As much as I chose not to do it this year due to my increasingly pathetic state of unathleticism, I can't wait to give it a shot next year! It was so much fun to watch, that I can only imagine what doing it myself will be like! So thanks to Amy, Dan and Beeson for showing me a great time this weekend and keeping my mind off my pathetic love life (or lack thereof as the case may be).

Happy 50th Birthday Cal!!!!
And yes.. I still find him sexy.. thank you for asking....

What do these people do if they have to (god forbid) go to the bathroom in PUBLIC!? Not every public bathroom is kind enough to keep paper seats in stock, am I right?
What can I say? It struck me funny...
I'm not a huge fan of the magazine, but I'm pretty sure I might have to go out and buy the new issue of Rolling Stone.... and find a way to get a job on the set of True Blood, while I'm at it. Speaking of which, I'm FINALLY all caught up! I don't have HBO so it's a struggle to keep up to date, but there are some sites that I've found online that help. The buffering sure can be a pain in the ass though! I usually go to my friend Sue's to watch, but she just HAD to have a baby yesterday, so I'll cut her some slack. Welcome to the world Julia Caterina Cusato, or as I'll continue to call her... Julia Gulia...
I follow "BigBrotherLeak" on twitter, which is kind of a big mistake.. Granted, I get spoilers when the HOH competition go over the alotted TV time limit, but then I also know what's going on in the house in real time. It's not usually a big deal, but since Sunday night's episode came on much later than usual thanks to golf and 60 Minutes, my DVR missed it. I tried to catch up with the leak, but when I looked at a recap online, I realized I went WAY beyond what had happened on that episode. This made me realize, I'm not sure how much I like my action to be spoiled! I might have to unfollow for my own good, cause I'm way too nosy to NOT look at the feed.
Lauren Froderman beat out my boys, Kent and Robert, to win So You Think You Can Dance. I finally watched the finale last night and I have to say, she deserved it, as would any of them have if they had won! Lauren's "My Chick Bad" hip hop routine solidified her as a front runner for sure, as she proved last night. NappyTabs and Travis Wall were surely the choreography All-stars of the show, but I'm hoping that for next season, we can get more Sonya and Mia. Mia cracks me up behind the judge's table, but her choreography is kinda the shit.. And oh yeah.. give me some more Wade.. I miss Wade, even if his wife has to come with him!!
Would someone please explain to me how this woman has "options?" If Bravo is dumb enough to give her a show, I can guarantee it won't reach "Bethenny Getting Married" heights... I mean.. hell.. even I wouldn't watch it! Don't do it Bravo.. DON'T DO IT...
I'm almost ready to buy my first book on my Kindle! I've been waiting until I finish the last book I've been reading, so I don't get distracted. I'm still weighing my options.. I've thought about Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang or another hardcover book, cause I almost always wait for the paperbook, for the sake of space and simplicity. But since I've just found four I want to read in under a minute, I'm thinking this'll happen. Oh lord.. this could get expensive...

Talk about birth control!
The genitals of the drone honey bee explode and snap off inside the queen bee during mating."
Anyone? Bueller?
Here's your answer: It is a FACT! The snapped-off penis acts as a genital plug to prevent other drones from fertilizing the queen.
I'm thinking that if I were a male drone honey bee, that's a chance I might not want to take... I wouldn't want anything that explodes or snaps off to be anywhere near my "wobbly bits," know what I'm saying?

I know I've said that other food items are the best inventions ever, but this MIGHT take the cake...
The final three on SYTYCD are Kent, Lauren and Robert. While I've been on Team Kent from the get-go, for once I'm ok with either of the three winning! Any of them would deserve it, although I give Lauren and Kent an extra phone call cause they had the good fortune of dancing to "Hip To Be Square" by Huey Lewis and the News. Granted, it didn't seem difficult enough for the finale, and the judges agreed, but that's not really THEIR fault (or Huey's for that matter).
If you haven't seen Inception, RUN, don't walk to the theater to check it out. It was completely mind-bending and insane and reminded me again of why I think Christopher Nolan and his work rock on so many levels..
Big Brother is back, and this week should be the end of the most annoying, pathetic showmance I think the show has ever seen - Brendon and Rachel. She spent the whole episode tonight bawling for being on the block and not winning the POV, then having to "console" whiny Brendon for the same thing.. God, I can't wait until either of them are gone.. preferably her, cause if I have to hear her scream about "her man" in the diary room one more time I might rip my hair out. Believe me honey, after this show, he's all yours, cause no other woman is gonna want a piece of that!
I'm only down two episodes of True Blood at this point, thanks to the internet.. It's been a long, hard road, but I've finally found a site or two that will allow me to not miss the shows by much, even though my sister won't let me have HBO :(. Entourage is a different story and is my next concentration. See!? You wonder why I never update this blog anymore.. work is crazy busy and I play catch up on my downtime!!!
And another reason I have no time.... I got a Kindle for my birthday!!!! I have yet to download a book cause I'm still reading a paperback at the moment and I know that if I download something, I'll never finish it. I'm sure I'll still end up buying books cause I do like having them, but it'll be nice to have any book I want at my fingertips at a moment's notice. I need to do more research but I can't WAIT to use it!!!!

FINALLY, some good news
Honestly, I'm excited about this. He's a proven manager who is hopefully excited about turning this team around. Plus, it must be nice to know that any improvement is better than the shit storm that's been happening on the field all year. He will reportedly begin his uphill battle on Tuesday v. the Angels.
Good luck Buck!!!!

I finally was able to ditch the Palm Pre (which I've hated for months) for a Blackberry.. one without that freaky ball thing.. Oh. My. God. I think I'm in love.. it's so much simpler than the Palm Pre (which is what I wanted) and I don't need a 500 page manual to figure things out... so far! Wish me luck! I'm slightly technologically inefficient, so we'll see how it goes!
Sports-centric blog today:
George Steinbrenner died of a heart attack on Tuesday at the age of 80. The All-Star game began with an appropriate moment of silence for the long-time owner of the Yanks. He's made one hell of a name for himself in baseball (good and bad) and his legacy with the Yanks will long be remembered. The Yanks also lost their long time public address announcer, Bob Sheppard, who died on Sunday at the age of 99.
The National League won the All-Star Game for the first time since 1996, with a 3-1 win over the AL, earning home field advantage in the World Series. And hey.. our boy Ty even got in the game.... which is more than we can say for A-Rod, huh? This is one of those "it's an honor just to be nominated" kind of things, right?

Note to God
Seriously... what have the O's ever done to you (besides suck)? It's really starting to get ridiculous...
Please stop.
Thanks and peace be with you.

In the last 24 hours
broken my favorite pair of sunglasses
struck out
misjudged balls in the outfield (two things I rarely do)
walked into a closed door
Someone (or something) is screwing with my mojo and I do NOT like it.. I would like it back by tomorrow when I hit up the Biergarten for happy hour to mourn the loss of my co-worker Ashley. Tomorrow is her last day and it's going to REALLY suck in many ways to not have her here anymore.
But hey.. Project Runway comes back soon, so that's something!
Speaking of shows, Rescue Me starts tonight, followed by "Louie" a semi-autobiographical show by comedian Louis C.K. I'll never stay up late enough, but if it's as funny as his stand-up, I'll tune in.

STATEMENT FROM DAVE TREMBLEY
"I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to Peter Angelos and Andy MacPhail for the opportunity to serve as manager for the Baltimore Orioles for the past three years. The results on the field were not what any of us would have hoped for, and I understand that the organization felt the time was right to move in a different direction. While I am disappointed at the outcome, I feel it was a privilege to wear the Orioles uniform each day and I thank all the fans for their tremendous support. I hope the team will soon return to the winning tradition they enjoyed for so many years."
Classy Dave... REAL classy! As much as I wanted him to go as well, I still feel bad about it and for him. You can't say he didn't try... I just hope someone else tries harder..

Just want to send a quick congratulations out to my sister and the Ichabod Crane girl's softball team. They beat my sister's nemesis, Burnt Hills, 6-0 to make it to the Class A final game on Friday afternoon. I can't make the game which sucks, but I'm sure they'll play their hearts out and hopefully WIN!!! Best of luck to all!!!

Well... we've lost Gary Coleman. Is it just me or are brain hemorrhages running rampant!? I feel like I haven't heard much about them until the last month or so. It's CRAZY! He lived a tough life, but he was an entertainer throughout and will be missed. How many times do you think I'll hear "whatchoo talking about Willis?" this weekend?
I think I'm jumping off the Insanity bandwagon. I did the first month religiously and I was really good about what I ate, which for me, is pretty damn hard what with the aversion to vegetables and anything good for you. I MAY have lost two pounds.. the entire month. I know the whole "muscle weighs more than fat" line, but come on.. It's the hardest I've ever worked in my life and I just can't fathom that I'd f'n GAIN weight.. I feel like a cow and I'm supposed to feel like a ripped goddess. Seriously.. Shaun T can kiss my fat ass. Maybe I'll jump on the Jillian Michaels train. I've got two of her DVD's that are collecting dust... And yes, I'll start running again. I hate every second but it's the only thing that works.
Season 2 of True Blood came in the mail yesterday. Only a few more weeks till the premiere and I have a LOT of memory refreshing to do.
I've been crazy busy at work and my partner in crime is officially leaving me... so don't take it too personally that I've been neglectful.. You're not the only ones ;)
Have a happy Memorial Day weekend!

For those of you who don't know, The Lark Tavern had a wicked fire last week. There's been an outpouring of support for the owner, Tess, and her staff, as it was (and hopefully again will be) a great place to meet up! Anyway, there's a web site and benefit set up for The Lark Tavern. Donate or show up if you're interested!
Oh LT.. karma's a bitch... Here's the story.. when I was a kid my ENTIRE family went to Disney World. Literally, there were approximately 20 of us. My cousin recognized Lawrence Taylor and went up to him to ask for an autograph. His response "I'm on vacation." Um.. really? Us too.. Sign the damn hat and stop crushing a kid's dream (Ok.. I do get it NOW that he was on vacation and didn't want to sign, but still.. that's the life you chose.. Deal with it!). You hope allegations like that aren't true, but it sure sounds like they are! I can't wait to see this whole thing unfold. You can't tell me LT couldn't have gotten some poontang for free, that's all I'm saying ;)
It always upsets me when those Real World couples go awry... And yes.. I'm still watching The Challenges.. I don't know why.. I think one of these days SOMEONE will "start getting real" instead of banging their way through F list celebrities.. SOMEDAY!!!
I'm sure Nigel won't miss the screaming, but Mary Murphy is no longer a judge on SYTYCD.. at least not this season. Mia Michaels will take her place, which I'm kind of bummed about since I love her choreography (most of the time).
In other casting news, Tim Gunn has joined the cast of Smurfs!!!
What do you do when you get released from your team at the beginning of the season? Play softball of course!!!
Patton Oswalt is on Twitter... Find him and follow him.. NOW..

To coincide with that statement, here's one more reason I can use to NOT eat lettuce (or as I like to refer to it "crunchy water").
Thursday, April 29, 2010
I can't tell if I'd go old school (Huey Lewis/Counting Crows) or something more modern. I'd probably do "Calle Ocho" by Pitbull.. Then again, I'd probably stick with "Poison" by Bell Biv DeVoe... Never Trust a big butt and a smile, ya know ;)
Wednesday, April 28, 2010
Wow.. does Heidi Montag look like an alien or what? Seriously.. it's worse on TV than in pictures.. how's that self esteem holding up?
Oh Matty.. not you too!
Could SOMEONE give Bret Michaels a break.. I mean.. like the guy hasn't had a hard enough year what with lights falling on his head and emergency appendectomies.. and oh yeah.. those Rock of Love girls.. never quite stick!
Jake Pavelka was the next to go on DWTS and while I love his partner, Chelsie Hightower, he never really grew on me. I figured it'd be between him and Pam but it was Niecy in the bottom.. WTF America!?
Divorce AND adopted child? Wow.. she really IS America's Sweetheart.. Good luck Sandra!!
Seriously.. how soon can So You Think You Can Dance start? I'm dying here! Really? Comfort and Ade? Ok.. Ade was kinda awesome but since he was with Melissa.. I had to not like him.. Comfort... eh... The rest, I'm completely down with and I can't wait for it all to start up again!
Check out Happy Town tonight on ABC.. is it gonna be this year's Harper's Island (and is that a good thing or a bad thing?)

Scorpion Bowl 2010
Heather and Bobby's Wedding...
Thursday, April 22, 2010
Wednesday, April 21, 2010
The O's are off to the worst start in baseball. Thankfully, the Red Sox aren't doing so great either, so when I go back to Vermont for my rugby reunion this weekend, the only ones who can give me a rash of shit are the NY'ers.. of which I am one, so screw them ;) Yes, this weekend is Scorpion Bowl weekend, and after a false alarm, my camera is ready to go! I'm staying overnight this Saturday so there should be lots of pics. The night before I have a wedding, so there'll be lots of pics of that too! Thankfully, I've cleared out my memory card so there should be plenty of space!
Finally, the Free Tony movement has come to fruition!!!! I'm sad to see him go (but I love to watch him leave), but considering Kate can't dance her way out of a paper bag (and she's proven to be a raging head case bitch), all is right with the world.
If you, like me, can't wait for True Blood's third season to start, HBO is trying to satisfy you (just hope they also put them up on HBO.com for us non-HBO peeps!). I pre-ordered the second season today, so if anyone wants to marathon it with me once it comes in, feel free!!! I also ordered the 1st (half) season of Glee, as Tre is now a convert by watching the Madonna episode that aired last night. I thought it was great, but it was definitely not as funny as last week's episode! But who cares? It's Glee and it's supposed to be about the music, right? I hear they're planning on doing another Madonna episode, which would be awesome.. especially if someone could take on Human Nature. That's one of my Madonna faves (and let me point out that I didn't read the article I attached until AFTER I wrote this.. but it's nice to see someone else is on the same wavelength)!
If you're not watching Parenthood, you need to be! It's by far one of the best shows on TV right now, and it just got renewed for a second season. AND, it's rumored that two of its stars (Lauren Graham and Peter Krause) are dating!!! Sounds like a good match to me!
Rescue Me will FINALLY start up again on June 29th and I am anxiously awaiting its return. I might have to netflix the last season so I can catch up. It's been so long since the show has been on that all I seem to remember is when Shawn (white Shawn, not Black Shawn) used self tanner to masturbate and ended up with an orange penis. Could it get funnier? Yes.. yes it could..
Today is Administrative Professional's Day, and what with all the turmoil our company's gone through this year, no one was expecting much. I didn't even intend to eat the meal, as I heard they were wraps... most of which contain veggies, whcih I do not like. Thankfully, there was pasta (with veggies, but easy to eat around) and rolls, so I did partake, and the company was kind enough to give us all crisp fifty dollar bills as a thank you. I don't know if they understand how grateful we all were for the cold, hard cash, as that's what we really need. I'm grateful and so are my feet and hands, as I'll be using that money for my mani/pedi on Friday afternoon!
Hope the hump wasn't too harsh for you.. As I said, I'm going away this weekend, but I'll try to throw some pics up when I get back on Sunday. Enjoy the end of your week and don't forget to tune in to the Project Runway finale tomorrow night on Lifetime. I'm rooting for Seth Aaron, cause I think Emilio has only become douchier every time he gets on the screen and I really don't think Mila's black and white motif will pull it off. As always, stranger things have happened!

Lately I realize I've been blogging (IF I've been blogging) about shitty baseball and food. Now, the shitty baseball thing isn't my fault.. I'd much rather be blogging about GOOD baseball, but I'm an Orioles fan and this is how the cookie crumbles.
The food thing though, has become a bit of an obsession, and one I'm finding hard to give up. Every week I say i'm going to start eating better, maybe do Weight Watchers again, yadda yadda yadda. However, something (like a fund raising dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant) always gets in the way and then makes me decide not to start until the following week, where something inevitably comes up again to derail my goal of fitting back into my 12's.. Right now I'm a 13, hovering dangerously close to 14.. I don't like it, yet somehow don't find myself motivated enough to do anything to stop it. So, I'm thinking that after this weekend (life long buddy's wedding AND college rugby reunion) I'm going to have to suck it up and be a good girl, and for that, I apologize. I'll probably be a little cranky and obsessing over things I can't have, but really want, like the chicken bacon ranch pizza I had from I Love NY pizza today (Try it.. it's to die for). Instead, I'll just eat my lean cuisines and stop really doing crunches before bed instead of pretending I did. But someday, yes someday, I WILL have one of these... even though I'll be boycotting "Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the food network for the time being. They give me too many good ideas for road trips...

Congrats to the O's... Win #2 on the season today, which means we will not have the worst start in O's history... ah, sweet relief!

This may help..
If only "good on paper" meant something!
Aidan Turner got booted from DWTS last night and much to my chagrin, I still have to watch Kate Gosselin berate my Tony.. Make it stop America.. make it stop!
So... apparently the hub-bub surrounding the heinous plastic surgeries wasn't enough media coverage? Give me a break...
Kate Walsh may be single, and hopefully she's not unemployed real soon (yes, the chances are the slimmest ever since the show revolves around her, but stranger things have happened!) I'm bummed by this.. I still watch the show and there are few people I could see it going on without, so we'll have to wait and see who makes the cut!
That's all for now... too little time, but I'm trying! Happy Hump Day! :)
PS - Does anyone have a Kindle? I saw one this weekend and fell in LOVE... I'm hoping the price goes down thanks to the introduction of the Ipad... if not.. Merry Christmas to me!
And oh yeah.. I'm going to Disney World!!! Yes.. I'm 33 and yes.. I'm going with my parents, but who cares? I love it and I can't wait!

I spent my night watching the Butler-Duke game, and unfortunately, Duke was able to pull it out. It was an incredibly close game, with (I think) the biggest lead only being 6 points. Butler really proved themselves and I only hope they can do it again next year. WTG Brad Stevens, Gordon Hayward and the rest of the Butler Bulldogs.. And oh yeah... nice job Duke too... ;)

I went to see Alice in Wonderland in 3-D the other night. Now, I've seen plenty of Tim Burton movies but I wouldn't say I'm a fan.. I appreciate his vision, how's that? Anyway, I'm NOT a fan of Johnny Depp. I don't know what it is, but he's never been one of my faves and I don't find him particularly attractive. It might be my whole aversion to anything Wonka. It freaks me out.. like Mr. Rogers, the Letter People and Mummenschanz. It might just be a PBS thing, I don't know. Anyway, I REALLY liked the movie. I thought everyone in it was brilliantly cast and it was an entertaining story, as the time flew by. However, I still think 3-D is overrated. I could have saved $4 and gotten the same experience. If I'm gonna go to a 3-D movie I want things flying at me, making me feel like I have to get out of the way. It was cool to see, but I don't really think it did much to enhance the flick. Regardless, check it out if you get a chance!
Even more changes are coming on So You Think You Can Dance, which puts it all into perspective and kinda makes me excited! I'm just glad that the judges still have the same amount of input they had initially. I thought it was gonna turn into an American Idol type thing, where the fans choose who goes every week. As you can see with DWTS.. fans don't always know best.
Baseball starts over the weekend, and today the O's signed Julio Lugo, which will be a nice back up considering Roberts has been having lots of back problems and no one is really sure how well Cesar Izturis will do. At the very least, it'll be nice for the boys to get some random days off (as long as none of those days are when I'll be seeing them... whenever that may be!) In other O's news, Chad Moeller has been granted release, as he was beaten out for the backup catcher position by newcomer Craig Tatum, whose defense eclipsed that of the 35 year old veteran. I'll be sad to see him go. He seems like a class act and was a great role model for Wieters, as it seems he was for Tatum in Spring Training. However, with a team like the O's, sometimes youth and.. well.. DEFENSE win out!
I don't watch 'Til Death, but I might have to make an exception for this!!! No Joey though (enter obligatory "WHOA" joke here).
That's all for now. Hope everyone has a Happy Easter and enjoy the amazing weather the Northeast is going to have this weekend (and hopefully for avery long time!) Don't forget to eat your weight in marshmallow peeps (i'm doing it with mini eggs, so your favorite Easter candy will do).

Holy Crap - My 1,000th Post
I went to my first REAL yoga class this weekend at the Sadhana Center for Yoga and Meditation in Hudson. The class was listed as “basic” from 9:30 – 11:00, which seemed like a really long time. To be honest, it FLEW by! The teacher, Donald, was an in-shape older gentleman, and he was very good, at least in my limited yoga experience. However, he tried to put my heels on the ground during downward facing dog and he was sorely disappointed. Perhaps after a few more classes! I’m not real down with the chanting part, and therefore could NOT look at my friend Lynn while it went on, but other than that, it was pretty good. There was a headstand portion that Lynn and I didn’t partake in. My headstand days are long gone.. I’m hoping to do it again soon, cause I certainly felt it the next day AND I was sweating throughout. He went pretty fast through the poses, but there were a few that you did often, so it wasn’t ALL that hard to figure out. I highly recommend the class if anyone’s interested!
Corey Haim died this morning of an accidental overdose. Considering he’s been plagued with substance abuse problems most of his life, I’m not all that surprised. I find it so sad when people can’t overcome their demons, and when you know Corey Feldman is going to use this as a publicity opportunity.
I bet you’re as shocked about this one as I was…
Let’s talk about the Oscars:
I’m ok with all the winners in all honesty. I didn’t see Avatar and I just thought a movie that wasn’t made with 8 tons of CGI should have won, so I’m glad it was The Hurt Locker, which I also haven’t seen. It was an amazing thing to have Katheryn Bigelow win Best Director and it’s always nice to rub that into your ex’s face, whether they’re on good terms or not! As expected, Sandra Bullock was adorable and gracious, as was Jeff Bridges. I thought Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were pretty capable, and who can turn down a musical number by Neil Patrick Harris!? I heard the dancing was good, but I didn’t catch that, or much of the show to be truthful. I was a little tipsy from the Siena game! Anyway, let’s just say the show was… status quo. Nothing crazy, except for that weird lady that pulled a Kanye during the presentation for Best Documentary Short. That guy sure can’t catch a break, huh!?
Free time has been at a minimum for me lately, so I’ll TRY to do a post about Oscar fashions, but I make no guarantees. I know, I disappoint you all so much!
Fur will surely fly tonight as Part One of the Real Housewives of the OC reunite to dish the dirt and sling some mud. Part Two will air tomorrow night. The NY Housewives are back and it’s now Jill v. Bethenny (Sorry, I’m on Team Bethenny for this one.. Jill’s being a TOUCH catty)! I’ve always loathed Ramona so her crazy antics aren’t much of a surprise, although I was a little shocked at the Countess during her shakedown with Bethenny.. Still on Team Bethenny, even if it’s only because she called LuAnn a dumb, drag queen.. unfortunately not to her face. It’s only the first week so I’m sure my alliances will change… except Ramona will always get on my nerves.. like Vicki… (Sorry Chris)
Happy Hump Day all… One week from today I’ll be sucking down beers in NYC.. Gotta love St. Patty’s Day!!!

An advertisement for this service was on my car when I got out of the Siena game last night, and I was intrigued by it. I'll let you know if I have the opportunity or feel the need to try it. If you've tried it (especially in the Albany area, but I'm curious about others) let me know! It seems like a great idea, as long as the restaurants are down with it.

Speaking of funny ladies, I caught Kathy Griffin on this week's Law & Order: SVU. My sister said "I don't know if I can take her as a serious person." Thankfully, she wasn't too serious for too long, AND she was able to put a lip lock on Stabler... atta girl!!!
New Moon comes out on DVD soon.. :) More Jacob in Eclipse though..
Last night, Jim and Pam had their baby (a girl) and it was a pretty entertaining episode, including ALL the office mates.. Welcome Cecelia to the fold!!
The OC Housewives ended last night, while the NYC Housewives started some weeks of drama. I so love Bravo!
I remember watching this show, but I'll be damned if I remember Jeremy Renner being on it! Hell, I don't remember Angela from Bones being on it either.. Gotta love a career boost from reality tv!!!
The Oscars are on Sunday night and I can' t make any good guarantees. I'm going to the Siena Men's Basketball game on Sunday at 4, so not sure where the night will lead. If I'm home in time, there'll be red carpet fun for all!!! I didn't have a chance to see a lot of the nominated films, so I don't have any real favorites... Won't make me any less interested though!
Finally, May can't come soon enough..
Happy Friday.. pray my commute home is not as ulcer inducing as my ride to work... every moron in the world got in front of me driving 30 in a 55.. not cool...

If I were in the market for a roomie, I'd TOTALLY check out this apartment. Maybe I'm missing something by NEVER having logged onto craigslist.
True love or publicity stunt?
Apparently stupidity DOES run in families...
It's Monday.. the 1st of March.. I'm going grocery shopping AND to the gym tonight (Can everyone sing a chorus of "My Favorite Things?" Note the sarcasm..). Let the pain and bitchy blog posts about food and working out commence..

On a happier note - Here are some cruise pictures!
I had a different martini every night. These were peach martinis from our last night on the ship.
Tre and I, after we won trivia. Well, technically I won.. Tre was just the mouthpiece.
I have approximately 150 more pictures, but I don't think the blog could take it! As you can see, the weather was insanely beautiful and I apologize for (apparently) bringing this bad weather back to New York with me! The drive home from work on Tuesday was absolutely terrifying, especially since I was driving my mother's car. Mine had been in the shop for a week and a half getting fixed from that "rear-ending" incident back in January, so I drove mom's car on Tuesday and Dad's truck on Wednesday. I've learned that 4 wheel drive can REALLY come in handy. I'm just happy to have my car back. I missed her!!!
It's been a really busy week, so I've got nothing.. Hopefully the pics will hold you over and if not, I'll try to post some more! Enjoy your weekend!!!

Thankfully, the phone problem was solved. There was a tiny, miniscule crack on the screen, causing it to no longer work. The guy at Sprint told me that normally this would constitute damage, but since it was so small, they'd give me a new phone. I begged the guy to let me get a different phone because as much as I HAD to have it, I loathe the Palm Pre, but that wasn't feasible. So, I now have a new Palm Pre, minus all my photos and texts. So yeah.. that part kinda blows.
All day long, everyone told me not to worry about my license, that I could use my passport, blah blah blah. That didn't make me feel any better, even though it's true. This morning I hadn't had time to look for my license so it was tops on my list of things to do when I got home. I found it behind my tv stand, pushed under a box my new bathing suits came in. To say I was overjoyed would be an understatement.
I had a gold party on Saturday, where you sell back your gold for cash. I'm not going to tell you how much I made, but let's just say I did REALLY well. By hosting a party you get 10% of whatever is brought in by your guests. Everyone had a great time and walked out with money in their pockets! To cap off my day, I bowled in a tournament that night, scoring the best I have ever bowled for three games - 248, 237 and 278 for a total of 763. I had the first 9 strikes in the last game and could NOT feel my legs when the 10th frame came along. I threw the ball so well. I really thought I had a chance, but the 10 pin had different ideas. It's unfortunate, but really gave me a confidence boost!
I don't care what the reviewers had to say, I think Whip It was great! Not only was it funny, but it was insanely entertaining. Made me want to come up with my very own Roller Derby name and subject myself to more pain than I do every week in co-ed soccer, if that's possible. And I also want to beat up Juliette Lewis, but that might not JUST be because of the movie.
And oh yeah, the Saints won the Superbowl. It was a great game and now ALL the Manning teams have a Superbowl win.
6 more sleeps till VACATION!!!!

Grease at Proctor's
SHUT UP :)
Seriously.. EVERYONE knows every single song from Grease. It's been around for over 30 years and then some. MILLIONS of actors have played the roles on screen and on and off Broadway. Regardless, no one paid money to hear you sing, so how about you open up a big can of "shut the fuck up" and let the pros do their job?" Thanks.. you're a doll.
Kara
As for my half-assed review, the show was pretty good! The Vince Fontaine warm up was pretty funny, especially when he asked where people were from and someone shouted out Climax, which led into a joke throughout his opening AND showed up in the show (Yes, those not from this area, Climax is a real city in Greene County and my friends giggled like fiends when we drove through it on our way to a wedding). If it WAS staged, you'd never know it, cause this guy looked genuinely surprised by it. The show had not one, but two American Idol alums in the midst. Ace Young played Danny and while his accent left little to be desired, his acting chops, dancing ability and vocals were definitely good enough. He still looks pretty damn good too, even with those ridiculous pompadours!
The show was advertised heavily as "starring Taylor Hicks," but he only played Teen Angel, surfacing for one number, which he performed just fine. Like Ace, the vocals were strong... thank God. The dancing, was another story! As anyone that watched Idol knows, Hicks was basically told NOT to dance, his movements being a bit... herky-jerky, for lack of a better term. He proved that again last night. He was certainly entertaining, just a bit too campy and over the top for my taste. Maybe it's cause I'm a Daughtry fan, I don't know! During his "Beauty School Dropout" number (where he descended from the sky, of course), Frenchie was all up in his business and at one point, looked him in the eye and said "I voted for you." I have no idea how she or he kept a straight face, but the audience loved it. Anyway, the audience stuck around after the show to hear him sing a song from his new CD, which was quite good! It was more of the soul based stuff we're used to hearing from him, and he was already out signing autographs when we got out of the theater.
All in all, great job by the actors! One in particular (Rump!?) had an amazing voice! He was a touch chubby and I have to say, I just didn't expect such a voice to fall out of his mouth considering I thought he was simply there for comic relief. I stand corrected. I adore Proctor's, and now I'm just going to wallow in the fact that Spring Awakening is coming the ONLY week I've gone away in like.. years.. Bitter.. party of one!

After a not so wonderful first half, the Indianapolis Colts stepped it up, and now my boy Peyton is headed to the Superbowl once again (along with the rest of the Colts of course). They'll be facing the New Orleans Saints, who beat Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in overtime. I think it'll be a great game and while I want the Colts to win, if they DO get beat, I'd rather it was by the Saints as opposed to old, indecisive Brett Favre.
We hit the PBR (professional bull riding) event on Saturday night at the TU Center, and it was both entertaining and smelly. Thankfully, we were sitting up in one of the suites so the smell was only an issue when we decided we needed a closer look. We got over that real quick.. We then cut many, many rugs at the Dublin Underground, and had many, many drinks. And pizza.. pizza with cold cheese is almost always the right way to end a night of drinking!
Jersey Shore may be over, but the comparisons will never die!
The Screen Actor's Guild Awards were held on Saturday night, and the main award winners were pretty similar to the winners at the Golden Globes, leading us to believe the Oscars will follow suit. That would make for a pretty boring show though, don't you think?
Thursday, January 21, 2010
Tonight is the last episode of Jersey Shore and in honor of that, let me direct you to THIS article. Who knew lots of fake boob cleavage could be both sophisticated AND sexy? Apparently I didn't get the memo on that one! Regardless, I'll be tuning in to see the rest of the train wreck just like TONS of other people I know... The reunion that follows should be entertaining as well!
After a day of football watching and beer drinking, I managed to get home in time to catch the Golden Globes. I have to admit, I didn't do so well predicting the winners, but I was THRILLED that Glee made a splash and won the award for Best Comedy, Musical. It was kind of nice for there not to be a sweep by 30 Rock for the millionth time! I missed the red carpet (I taped it, I swear) but someone PLEASE tell me this is just some clever photoshopping!
Speaking of TV, how did I not hear until this week that my favorite baldy (ok.. second favorite), Billy Zane, has a new show! Granted, it's definitely not on at a convenient time for me (Thursdays at 8) but I'm taping it anyway.
I don't know if anyone is watching High School Reunion on TV Land but me and Sandra, but I think we're both enjoying it, for the most part. What I'm NOT enjoying, is the biggest d-bag I've ever seen on TV, John. He's an idiot, ignorant and many other words I prefer not to use in public. Sandra thinks he'll reform and I think if he does, High School Reunion will be a miracle worker. Check it out - Wednesdays at 10 on TV Land.
Week Three of Co-Ed Soccer.. We show up for our 9:55 game and the other team is nowhere to be found. They finally show up... with one girl. You have to have at least two on the field at all times, so they proceed to ask us if any of our girls would play with them. Um.. NO! We don't drive 45 minutes to play against each other and we have ample girls so we don't have to play the entire game, cause we're all old and out of shape. We agree that they can play with only one girl, just because we still want to play. Midway through the first half, a miracle happened. I scored a goal. My first one ever, and it was LEGIT! I think everyone was in shock and awe, and I'm sure the other team really enjoyed the insane happy dance I did, not quite understanding the magnitude of what had just happened. At least now I've done the unthinkable and no one can crack on me anymore. Anyway, the team we played against were actually a fun, nice team, minus one guy. I think he was peeved that we didn't give him any girls, and he proceeded to knock Nikki on her ass, with nary an apology. He crossed the line completely though, when he blasted the ball right into Allyson's head. Thankfully, Allyson was able to get her hands up, so he only broke her wrist as opposed to her nose. Let's just say, he got an earful and I would love for him to know what he did, as it wasn't official then. So, we lost the game AND we lost Allyson, which really sucks! Still, believe it or not, we're having a great time and I'd love to apologize to Afrim's for being whiny bitches... but come on. The guy was like.. five feet away from her and was up 5-1. It was completely unnecessary.
If you've got nothing better to do next week, maybe you should try out for Jeopardy!!!
Gonna be a real busy weekend.. Heading to the TU Center for Professional Bull Riding, then out to Savannah's (The Dublin Underground) for lots of dancing!!! I'm really looking forward to it so Friday better go by quick or it has me to answer to! THEN... The Colts play the Jets on Sunday afternoon and I hope to be somewhere (maybe my own home to avoid annoying Jets fans) watching the Colts win! Enjoy the weekend!!!
