This past weekend was the MAAC tournament at the Times Union Center, and much to my chagrin, I learned it’s the last year it’ll be there, at least for a while. Siena pulled it out on Sunday, although they played pretty crappy the first half. Granted, I’m not any college basketball expert, but when you’re 6’9, a guy half your size PROBABLY shouldn’t get a rebound over you. Just a guess.. Plus, I usually do well in my March Madness pool so for the sake of this blog, I’m as expert as you’re gonna get! Anyway, Siena made it to the finals, which took place on Monday against Fairfield. Fairfield came out guns blazing, and at one point were up by 15 points over Siena. During the first half all I could think was “what a waste of money!” The game was terrible!! Siena couldn’t buy a basket, and certainly not free throws! Thankfully, Siena is a second half team. They were down by 12 at the half but managed to tie it up and send the game into overtime. I don’t know what kind of half-time speeches Fran McCaffrey gives, but they must be doozies!!! Anyway, Siena blew Fairfield away in overtime, winning the MAAC title by a final score of 72-65. The second half and OT were incredibly exciting! I think my friend Danny spent the entire half laughing at me every time I jumped out of my seat. What can I say? I love college basketball, which means I’m going to have to start thinking about my brackets! Selection Sunday is this Sunday!!! Anyway, congratulations to Siena and good luck in the NCAA tournament, which they’ll hopefully get another bid. I’ll miss you MAAC tournament! It’s always a fun weekend, but I can’t see myself heading over to Springfield to partake. Convenience is key!

I went to my first REAL yoga class this weekend at the Sadhana Center for Yoga and Meditation in Hudson. The class was listed as “basic” from 9:30 – 11:00, which seemed like a really long time. To be honest, it FLEW by! The teacher, Donald, was an in-shape older gentleman, and he was very good, at least in my limited yoga experience. However, he tried to put my heels on the ground during downward facing dog and he was sorely disappointed. Perhaps after a few more classes! I’m not real down with the chanting part, and therefore could NOT look at my friend Lynn while it went on, but other than that, it was pretty good. There was a headstand portion that Lynn and I didn’t partake in. My headstand days are long gone.. I’m hoping to do it again soon, cause I certainly felt it the next day AND I was sweating throughout. He went pretty fast through the poses, but there were a few that you did often, so it wasn’t ALL that hard to figure out. I highly recommend the class if anyone’s interested!

Corey Haim died this morning of an accidental overdose. Considering he’s been plagued with substance abuse problems most of his life, I’m not all that surprised. I find it so sad when people can’t overcome their demons, and when you know Corey Feldman is going to use this as a publicity opportunity.

I bet you’re as shocked about this one as I was…

Let’s talk about the Oscars:
I’m ok with all the winners in all honesty. I didn’t see Avatar and I just thought a movie that wasn’t made with 8 tons of CGI should have won, so I’m glad it was The Hurt Locker, which I also haven’t seen. It was an amazing thing to have Katheryn Bigelow win Best Director and it’s always nice to rub that into your ex’s face, whether they’re on good terms or not! As expected, Sandra Bullock was adorable and gracious, as was Jeff Bridges. I thought Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were pretty capable, and who can turn down a musical number by Neil Patrick Harris!? I heard the dancing was good, but I didn’t catch that, or much of the show to be truthful. I was a little tipsy from the Siena game! Anyway, let’s just say the show was… status quo. Nothing crazy, except for that weird lady that pulled a Kanye during the presentation for Best Documentary Short. That guy sure can’t catch a break, huh!?

Free time has been at a minimum for me lately, so I’ll TRY to do a post about Oscar fashions, but I make no guarantees. I know, I disappoint you all so much!

Fur will surely fly tonight as Part One of the Real Housewives of the OC reunite to dish the dirt and sling some mud. Part Two will air tomorrow night. The NY Housewives are back and it’s now Jill v. Bethenny (Sorry, I’m on Team Bethenny for this one.. Jill’s being a TOUCH catty)! I’ve always loathed Ramona so her crazy antics aren’t much of a surprise, although I was a little shocked at the Countess during her shakedown with Bethenny.. Still on Team Bethenny, even if it’s only because she called LuAnn a dumb, drag queen.. unfortunately not to her face. It’s only the first week so I’m sure my alliances will change… except Ramona will always get on my nerves.. like Vicki… (Sorry Chris)

Happy Hump Day all… One week from today I’ll be sucking down beers in NYC.. Gotta love St. Patty’s Day!!!
