Gossip on the quick...

It’s been confirmed that Naomi Watts is pregnant with Liev Schreiber’s baby. Everyone assumed it after seeing her dress at the Oscars (which personally, I thought was pretty), but now we know it is to be true so best of luck to both of them. Speaking of the Aussies, Nicole Kidman has agreed to do a cameo on Nip/Tuck. Seems she begged creator Ryan Murphy to write a part for her and he agreed.

Paris Hilton (brain surgeon that she is) forgot to turn her car lights on because she was in a very well lit parking garage and got pulled over for it. When the cops checked her out they found out she has a suspended license from her September DUI arrest, and subsequently impounded her Bentley. Am I the only one that thinks “couldn’t happen to a nicer person?” Guess she needs to go to DMV and figure that situation out!

Big Pussy has dropped out of Dancing with the Stars. Vincent Pastore was unaware of the physical demands the show would have on his body, and has decided to drop out to give someone more worthy a chance. You have to give the guy a little bit of a break. I mean, he’s 60 years old and not in the best physical condition. However, I would be interested to see how the workouts the show places upon him would have affected his body. I bet the pounds would have dropped off like never before. I wonder who’ll take his place. If they want another Soprano alum, maybe Drea De Matteo could do it. I don’t think she’s been real busy since Joey and she’d look great in the costumes! Just a thought…

Not much else to tell. Heading to the movies tonight to see The Messengers with J. I owe him this, as he went to see the burlesque show a few weeks ago with me. This was my bribe and it’s time to pay up.

Finally, the O’s open up their Spring Training schedule with a game against the Florida Marlins tomorrow afternoon. The O’s have done pretty well in Spring Training the last few years, so I kind of hope they bit the big one this year. It’s one of those shitty rehearsal = great show type of deals. I mean.. it’s worked the other way around for the last few years, let’s just try something else. Have a great night!

Only 28 days....

and no, I'm not talking about Britney's rehab stint. Just wanted to remind you that today is the last day of February! I apologize for neglecting you yesterday. It was an insanely busy day and I hardly had a moment to myself. I ended up finally leaving work at 6:00, which was later than I hoped, but not unbearable. When I got home, I made chicken cordon bleu for myself and J. I paired it with niblets corn in butter sauce (my favorite) and garlic mashed potatoes (one of his favorites). Don’t get too excited: Both the niblets and the mashed potatoes were microwavable.. Baby steps people.. baby steps. Anyway, for some reason there were only three chicken breasts in my package, but they were monstrous, so having only one wasn’t so bad. J. was actually full after the meal (as well he should be since he devoured two chicken breasts and practically all the potatoes. He was nice enough to let me finish off the corn though). After debating about the whole Jesus’ tomb thing with my sister (she’s a huge fan of the Da Vinci Code and is totally enthralled with the situation), we went upstairs to watch Crank, starring one of my faves, Jason Statham. I should not watch a movie in bed, because it’s automatic that I’ll fall asleep, which I did. J. stayed up for the whole thing (another miracle) but I bet I saw maybe a half hour of it, total. Good thing he left it at my house so I can watch what I missed! What can I say? It’s been a tiring couple of days and it kind of caught up to me!

For the past two years, I’ve gone to NYC for St. Patricks’ Day. Do I see the parade? Just snippets, but it’s a hell of a good time and since it’s on Saturday this year, I can only imagine the debauchery. Anyway, I think I found this year’s t-shirt:
My sister will be wearing one that says “Drunky McDrunkerson.” You have to love that. Definitely not your typical t-shirts! Mine from last year said “Polish and Proud: Happy St. Patrick’s Day.” I hope it gets warmer out though. I don’t want to lose my coat and I froze my ass off last year.

Still busy today, but a little less so. It’s about time for lunch so I have to hightail it, but I’ll try to update you on some gossip and such later on. Happy Hump Day!!!!

It's been a long day...

I finally got out of work at 7:30 so I didn’t have the extra time to blog this afternoon. So, lucky you, I’m finishing things up tonight! The rest of my afternoon actually went by pretty quickly, even though it was insanely frustrating. I just hope to get out on time tomorrow and then my week will be pretty well set.

Anyway, Grey’s Anatomy. As expected, they didn’t kill off Meredith, instead killed off her mother. I can’t say I’m really disappointed, as I thought the mother plotline wasn’t that great in the first place. I was pretty sure they weren’t going to kill off Meredith, but I really didn’t see the mother thing coming. I’m waiting for Callie to knock Izzie’s block off, and I did like how Izzie felt Denny in that hallway. I admit I got a little teary over that. It was a good episode, but I think they could have finished the plot line in two, rather than three. How about them considering spinning off Addison’s character into her own show? I hated her when she first came on the show, but now I kind of have a soft spot for her. Also, Taye Diggs has signed on for a role in the show. I know he hasn’t had much luck when it comes to television shows, but the man is so easy on the eyes. You can’t deny that!

The Office was a stellar episode, directed by JJ Abrams. In a nutshell, Karen pulled a fast one on Jim by having him believe every guy at the party was an ex of hers. I don’t want to like Karen, but I enjoyed watching her put one over on Jim. Michael and Jan had their “coming out” party and as expected, it didn’t go that well. Jan tried to pull Michael into the bathroom for a quickie, but he wasn’t prepared for it and made Jan feel uncomfortable. Still, they did not break up (as expected) and for some reason are still an Office couple. Speaking of couples, Pam told Roy about the kiss between her and Jim and he FLIPPED. He and his brother broke many mirrors and glasses at the happy hour bar and Pam walked out. It looks like the honeymoon is over, and I don’t see the two of them getting over this. Also, I’m curious to find out what Roy is going to do and/or say to Jim and how that will affect his relationship with Karen. I don’t think she’s quite as “in the know” about Pam and Jim as she leads herself to think. What I’m trying to say is that it was another great episode and I can’t wait to see the next one, although it won’t be this week.

That’s the best I can do for now. Heroes is on and it’s centered around HRG and the Bennett family. After that, I’m actually skipping The Hills and Dancelife to watch the premiere of The Black Donnellys. I’ll let you know what I think, but I was happy to learn that it stars one of the stars of one of my favorite movies, The Sandlot. Thomas Guiry played the new kid in the neighborhood who knew nothing about baseball. Now he’s all grown up and starting trouble and I look forward to seeing it! Hope you all have/had a great night and I’ll try to post tomorrow. I make no guarantees as I should be pretty busy at work, but I’ll do my best. Hopefully I can get everyone out on time because I don’t want to stay late again.

This is how my day started...

I was on I-90 on my way to work when this pickup truck comes up behind me. I was doing about 73 in a 65 and he was flashing his lights and all such things at me. I couldn’t get over at that time so I brake checked him, and flipped him off. He gets around me (as I’m flipping him off again) and then gets in front of me and brake checks me. I’m sitting there laughing at him because I don’t know what he thought that was going to do, as I wasn’t the one in a great big hurry. It looks like he’s looking for something and he then flashes a badge out his window and waved at me. Um, what was that supposed to do? Even if he was a cop, he was obviously off duty so there really isn’t anything he can do but make me feel stupid which, well.. he didn’t. I pretty much laughed at him the whole way because he felt like he had to show that to me and that I would get scared or something. I just looked at him like “what is that supposed to do?” The greatest thing is that he had a handicapped license plate. I think I could have outrun him. Anyway, if you’re in that big of a hurry AND you’re a cop you should have a siren in your car. I would have gotten out of his way if there were a light and a siren. He was probably a correctional officer trying to get me to believe his badge was a cop badge (Note: My uncles are correctional officers, so that is not a dig on C.O.’s.). Anyway, if I get pulled over for no reason in the near future, it’ll be because that bastard called in my plates. Game on old man.. Game on..

My weekend was pretty mellow. Friday night I went to bowling, then headed over to the Super Wal-Mart to do my grocery shopping. I got lots of stuff for under a hundred dollars, but the checkout took at least 40 minutes. It was unreal. The guy actually announced everything that I had in my cart and it was just ridiculous. The big holdup was the woman two people in front of me, but I was already in line and wasn’t getting out. Big mistake. I always pick the worst checkout line no matter what. Anyway, J. was at my house when I got there so he helped me carry my groceries in and then we decided to play pool. I went looking for some beer, but apparently Tre had taken it all so…. we broke out the liquor. Southern Comfort for him, Amaretto for me. We have shitloads of liquor and I had completely forgotten about it until he asked if we had any. Unreal.. We were up till 3 am playing darts, ping pong and pool (I kicked his ass in ping pong and almost beat him in darts). The next day we got up pretty late and made it to the movies to see Reno 911: Miami. It was really funny, but I think it’s one of those movies where you have to really understand the sense of humor and like the TV show. Three older people left the movie after about 15 minutes. The movie was only an hour and 20 minutes long so after that we went to Meadowgreens for lunch. I got a steak sub, but they prepared it wrong and it just put me in a bad mood. I don’t get to eat what I want that much anymore, so when I get what I want, I want it how I want it, know what I’m saying? It turned out ok, but could have been better. I bowled that night with Jason (the knocker upper) and a few other people, which would have been more fun if I hadn’t bowled like absolute crap. I hung out at the bar for a little while, but was home by 11. Jason was going to follow me home (I’d had more than usual to drink, but I certainly wasn’t drunk) but I was milking my drink and it was for the best. I don’t think it would have been a good idea to have him follow me home. He spent the night telling me how great I was and all that, then that if I gave him another chance he’d drop his girlfriend like a hot potato. Classy.. I think he expected me to just be like.. OK! However, as much as I’m attracted to Jason, that’s where it ends. I could betray J. like that, nor do I want to. So, I spent the night in my scary house.. alone!

Sunday I had to do breakfast with the girls. I made this overnight stuffed French toast, which I thought was going to be great, but it was kind of bland. Ok.. REALLY bland. The girls gave it a valiant effort, but I ended up throwing the rest of it away when I got home. What a waste of groceries! I spent the rest of the day finishing up my book and watching the Law and Order SVU marathon on USA. I went to my mom’s to weigh in (somehow I lost four more pounds.. I LOVE her scale, cause mine is about a seven pound difference from hers) and then we had an awesome roast beef dinner, complete with mashed potatoes, corn and rolls. I bought leftovers home for J. to bring for lunch today. He came over and we were planning to watch SLC Punk, but it got late so we just watched the Oscars and fell asleep.

Speaking of the Oscars, some quick thoughts:

Cameron Diaz - vast improvement. Not great, but greatly improved.
Reese Witherspoon - the single life agrees with her. Gorgeous!
Jennifer Hudson - Big girls should not wear a dress with pockets or a bolero jacket, and Andre Leon Talley should know that.
Andre Leon Talley - don’t quit your day job.
Ellen DeGeneres - the red tux was a tad small, but other than that, entertaining.
Eddie Murphy - Norbit. Nuff said.
Jennifer Lopez - should never leave the house in anything but a ball gown.
Martin Scorcese - Finally! So well deserved!
Mark Wahlberg - GRRRRR…

Ok.. that’s all on that for now. I’ll be honest. I fell asleep before any of the big awards came on and boy was I getting frustrated. The show didn’t end until 12:30ish!!! I mean, the only awards that were real surprises were Best Picture and Alan Arkin’s upset of Eddie Murphy for Best Supporting Actor. I’m pretty happy with both winners so I can’t complain.

It’s gonna be a long night here tonight. I have a closing tomorrow and things aren’t even close to done so I’ll try to post more later on, as I have yet to give you my Grey’s Anatomy opinion. I know it’s what you’re waiting for. Happy Monday!!!!!

Friday, February 23, 2007

Finally, Friday!

I’ve been waiting for this day all week. I’m telling you, the short weeks wreak havoc on you! I don’t know why, but they do. You’d think they’d be easier to get through but I think you get used to having that extra day and then getting back into the swing of things is even harder! Today is also a payday. Granted, I paid bills this morning so it’s pretty much gone, but payday Fridays are certainly better than regular Fridays! We even got “birthday breakfast” this morning, which the office pays for. I had half a bagel, as the bagels from Uncommon Grounds are ridiculously huge. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to have housed a huge bagel, loaded with butter, but I refrained. Oh yeah.. I’m brimming with self-restraint these days.

I got my hair cut last night, then made an appointment to have it cut and get a manicure the night before I leave for Ireland. This way I figure everything will be fresh, including my out of control (sometimes) eyebrows. Can’t go to Ireland looking like I haven’t waxed in months or else the Irish boys won’t buy me beer! Anyway, after that I went to my parents house and printed out my resume and other such things. It needed to be postmarked by Monday so I mailed it out today. Is it tacky that I mailed it from work? I had to! No one at home had a stamp so I had to wait until I got in today to buy one. If they’re nosy enough to look through the mail that’s going out, then they deserve to know I’m looking for something else! However, in order to keep my vacation time (and/or get paid for what I don’t take) I can’t leave until after April 10th, which is my one year anniversary here. I feel like a loser for not sticking it out for a year, but I might go to the loony bin if I do. We’ll see what happens..

The roads were a little more slippery than I had anticipated last night, so I wasn’t really that upset when J. neglected to come down for the Moosehead. Well, that and he actually (miracle of miracles) has today off so I think the last thing he wanted to do was get up at the buttcrack of dawn when he doesn’t have to. I told him he could have stayed in bed and slept at my house, but I get ready for work in my room so it wouldn’t be quiet and he knows I have this thing about leaving the house without my bed being made. OCD? Perhaps… or maybe I just like my room to be neat. Don’t judge me. Anyway, Tre and I met our friends Jen and Matt, and Tre's friend Angela (I’m not insanely fond of her. I dated her brother years ago and it seems she’s held a grudge against me all those years, even though there really wasn’t a reason to. He and I get along just fine! She only recently started to talk to me, and I’m not really good at pretending I like someone when I don’t. I’m trying, as she’s not a terrible person or anything. I’m just a grudge holder) at the Moosehead and it was dead as a doornail, which is a rarity! We got seats at the bar, too much popcorn and finally ordered. I was very excited to try the French Dip because while I wanted wings and moosefries, I think that would have pushed me over the Weight Watchers edge! Anyway, the brain dead bartender tells me they’re out of French dip. So, I order the grilled chicken sandwich, plain with cheese. She brings me a grilled chicken sandwich with nothing on it, but a huge side of mayo. Um.. who said anything about mayo? I get her to bring me some cheese, which is provolone. Luckily, I don't mind provolone, but it's not really the normal cheese you bring out when someone asks for cheese! It was ok, but not what I really wanted. I then went home, snuggled on the couch by myself (after locking all the doors) and caught up on Grey’s Anatomy and The Office before I hightailed it to bed (Tre and Angela trekked up to Albany to go out with a mutual friend of theirs so I had the house to myself… Did I mention I HATE having the house to myself? Well... when I'm alone I hate having the house to myself.. If there's someone there with me.. having it to myself isn't all bad). I have to run out and get some documents signed, but I’ll be back later with my takes on Grey’s and The Office. I might have to milk this errand as the roads are still a tad slippery…… ;)

Now tell me who the baby daddy is!

We thought it would be tomorrow, but just this afternoon the Judge in the Anna Nicole Smith case rendered his verdict: He gave custody of Anna’s body to Dannielynn’s guardian ad litem (her guardian as appointed by the Court) and he will determine where her body is to be buried. The Judge suggested she be buried with her son, Daniel, however the guardian is supposed to work with all three parties to determine the burial. If that’s the case, why was there even this drawn out court case? No clue! I’ll bet she’s buried with her son, as that’s how it seemed she wanted it. I’m a little surprised that Howard K. Stern seems to have won this battle, but once the paternity issue comes to light, I have a feeling Larry Birkhead will win the war. If you want up to date information on everything Anna Nicole (and I mean everything) go to TMZ.com as they are insanely thorough and quick!

Not that I need an excuse to post a picture, but spring training has started and my boy is feeling 100%. Granted, he looks like he’s come off a good bender (or plays for the Yankees) but I still adore everything about him. He may not be bald, but I do dig the stubble. Seems the O’s are going to capitalize on the speed they have (mainly in B-Rob and Corey Patterson) and try to steal away some bases this season. It might be another fourth place finish for us this year, but I think we’ll give more teams a run for their money than they think we will (thanks to Orioles.com for the picture).

It’s sleeting. I really loathe bad weather. It ruins everything. At least my car is parked in a garage so I won’t have to wipe it off or anything! Anyway, my sister was planning on coming out up in Albany tonight (she’s on school break) but has since decided she would rather go to the Moosehead. I haven’t been there since I started Weight Watchers and I would like to go, but I was really looking forward to my mellow night at home. I know she won’t let me have it, but it sounded good at the time. I guess it’ll have to wait until Saturday night. Tre and J. are away, which really sucks for me, mainly because I hate sleeping in our house by myself. I hear every single noise and I’m usually positive that it’s in my room or coming into the house. It doesn’t help when J. tells me stories of weird things that have happened to him in our house. One time I was in the bathroom getting ready for bed and he felt the bed go down as if I’d gotten in. When I did get in, he asked me if that was the first time or if I had gotten up to go to the bathroom or something. Nope.. first time. I asked him why and (smartly) he said “nevermind.” He finally told me a few weeks ago. He then told me of a few weird incidents in his house, which led me to tell him of one I had in his house. One morning he left and I asked him to put the dog in the cage before he left. An hour or so later I swore I heard the dog’s footsteps behind me (I was laying in bed, facing the wall) so I turned around and was about to say “God damnit, you said you’d put the dog in the cage,” but no one was there. Shit like that freaks me out.

Anyway, it’s getting close to quitting time (yay) so I’m going to fake some work.. Ok, not true. I’m quite busy so I should be doing some, I’ve just lost my motivation for the day. I’ll let you in on what kind of night I had when I get in (early) tomorrow. I kind of like my early in - early out Fridays. Not sure if anyone else does, but such is life! Have a great Thursday and be sure to tune in to The Office and Grey’s Anatomy!

The short weeks are the worst

Another morning of swampiness! Thank god it’s almost lunchtime, as I’m starving like Marvin and I could use an hour of not staring at my computer screen!

Last night I stopped at the store on the way home as I (once again) was going to make J. and I dinner. I don’t mind making dinner if I know someone else will eat it. It seems like a big waste if it’s just for me, know what I’m saying? Anyway, I decided to go with the Weight Watchers Macaroni and Cheese recipe. It seemed just fine and easy to make, which it pretty much was. However, when I bit into it, it just didn’t taste… right. What can I say? I could not live without cheese. I love it and feel everything should be smothered in it. Therefore, the macaroni and cheese was heavier on the mac and less so on the cheese. It tasted just fine.. just not as cheesy as I’d like. To quote J: “it’s not that bad.” Thanks. I know that’s not how he meant it, but still. I do feel bad that he has to eat everything I make, but with his appetite (and the fact that he eats portions equivalent to that of a competitive eater) he doesn’t seem to mind, as he basically gets to eat whatever I don’t. Considering a “normal” portion size is about a cup, I’m not eating that much! However, I haven’t been exercising as much either. I meant to get up today, but it just wasn’t happening. I’ve been sleeping poorly lately.. waking up a lot and such, so I really did need the extra sleep. Or at least that’s what I’m continuing to tell myself. We’ll see what happens this weekend, and if not, next week is a new week!

After dinner we watched “From Hell” (his choice, as I chose the night before). I’m not that girl that swoons over Johnny Depp. If he was bald, maybe. But he’s not, so I don’t find him that attractive. The movie was about Jack the Ripper and it wasn’t a bad flick. However, we both fell asleep right at the end so I’m not really sure what happened. I’m not into period movies all that much, even ones with subject matter I find interesting, as with Jack the Ripper. I think I was just drained from the day and didn’t have the energy to concentrate. Plus, I’m not a huge Heather Graham fan either, even though she was in Swingers. That’s the bright spot of her career by far, cause who wants to be known for the rest of their life as “rollergirl?” Ok.. well.. probably Heather Graham, but whatever.

So, that was my night. I know.. me and my crazy life! I really can’t wait to get through the day and the week. Tomorrow I have to run out and get signatures, so that’ll be a nice hour and a half or so out of the office. Can’t complain about that. Something else I can’t complain about: The closing I had that was scheduled for Monday was pushed back to Tuesday. This SHOULD mean that I don’t have to come in this weekend. Key word there is “SHOULD” considering the heinous bitch is in charge. She’ll probably call me in just to ruin my weekend. I’m sure she’s good like that. My big plan for tonight is to get a haircut, print out my resume on pretty paper, make a grocery list and find out the big death on Grey’s Anatomy because I’m ALMOST positive it’s not Meredith. Anyway, I might be back later with some Office stuff, considering Rainn Wilson is hosting SNL this weekend, but we’ll see hwo the afternoon pans out.

PS - Britney’s back in rehab.. again.. Guess third time’s a charm, especially when your club-hopping, wife-beater wearing, soon to be ex-husband is starting to look like Father of the Year. How can you not love Hollywood?

I'm kind of busy at work, who'dve thunk?

No, I’m not complaining. I’m happy to be busy.. also happy that the closing I’m busy for has been pushed back a day, so hopefully I will not have to come in over the weekend. I’ll have to stay late on Monday, but that should be it. Thank God. I can’t even fathom coming here on the weekend. I hate coming during the week. The weekend would surely be the death of me.

I’m pretty sure I sprained my finger after yesterday’s paper towel holder incident. When I woke up this morning I could hardly bend it. It’s gotten better as the day has gone on, but it’s not 100%. I have a relatively big bowling tournament next week and I’m supposed to bowl Friday and Saturday this week. I guess I’ll have to play it by ear (or finger, as the case may be).

I tried to get online at 6:50 to register for the Pop Culture IQ Test last night, but it said I had missed registration. This peeves me because they said you had to be registered by 6:55 (it was clearly before 6:55) in order to take part. I tried over and over again, but it didn’t work. Therefore, yet another year you won’t see me taking part in the World Series of Pop Culture. You’ll have to deal with my posts about how much better I could have done than the people that did get on.

I made this cheesy pasta dish last night (basically, chicken helper without the helper). It was pretty good. So much so, that I bought a serving of it in for lunch today. One cup of something really isn’t all that much food. I think J. liked it. He ate about as much as I did, but he had a late lunch. Honestly, I don’t think he’d tell me if he didn’t like it, as he doesn’t want me to stop making him dinner! After that we watched The Boondock Saints. It was a pretty good movie. I guess it came out for one day in its initial release and now has a bit of a cult following. It’s about these two Irish brothers in Boston who decide to take all the bad people out of the world on their own. There was some funny dialogue and Willem Dafoe as an openly gay FBI agent. As one would expect, he had some of the best lines in the film. If you haven’t seen it, give it a shot. Sean Patrick Flanery isn’t tough to look at and who doesn’t love an accent?

Not much else going on so I’ll get to some gossip: In another shocker (note the sarcasm) Britney has left the Promises Rehab Center after roughly a day, much like last week’s rehab stint in Antigua. Is it just me or is K-Fed looking like Father of the Year? Speaking of train wrecks, the Judge in the Anna Nicole case will render his decision on Friday morning, as her body is deteriorating faster than normal. I’m shocked by that, as I didn’t really think anything in her body was made of a substance that COULD deteriorate. Dancing with the Stars is scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to the “star” portion of their title. Click here for a list of the cast for the upcoming season. Personally, I’m rooting for Apolo Anton Ohno, as I know a certain friend of mine will be too (C. Howe.. you know who you are). I don’t see a clear frontrunner or favorite like last year, so it could be entertaining. Considering how awful Idol was last night (I heard.. I taped it and have yet to watch it) I might have to put it off for a few more weeks. Hopefully the girls will step it up. If not, it’s going to be a LONG season.

Almost time for lunch so I’ve gotta get a move on. Hump like no one’s watching!

What more could a girl ask for?

A new "cycle" of America's Next Top Model begins next week, and now this.... Oh happy day!!!

I'm pretty sure I called this one

Who had the over/under in their office pool?

Girlfriend doesn't need rehab... she needs to stay home with her family and kids for more than a few hours. I don't get the whole rehab thing. What is she getting rehabilitation from? I mean... when people go in for drugs and alcohol, I get it. But for racism and questionable behavior? Can you really rehab that?

Would it be pathetic

if I had to leave work to go to the Emergency Room? I went to the bathroom, washed my hands and was reaching for the paper towels when I underestimated where the towel dispenser is and BAM… slammed my hand into the wall. I’m talking hard! It hurts like a bastard. No swelling as of yet, but the pain goes down into my wrist when I do certain things. Only me… Do you think you can get Worker’s Comp for something like that?

Tonight I’m going to attempt to take the Pop Culture IQ Test on VH1.com. It was supposed to happen last week but apparently there were lots of problems logging on so they’re doing it again. If you do well on it, you could be one of the three people to form a team for the World Series of Pop Culture. Chances are slim to none, but it’s much like the lottery: You can’t win if you don’t play! So.. along with attempting to cook dinner for J. tonight, I hope to be able to take a few minutes out to take the quiz. I’ll let you know how it goes.

There was a death in last night’s episode of Heroes, but not quite what you’d expect. They said “a hero is going to die.” Granted, one of them did, but it was someone that was only introduced in that episode and her ability (insanely good hearing) may drive Sylar crazy! I’m sure what they were talking about was the death of Simone, who wasn’t really a hero… or at least it was never revealed that she was. Isaac shot her accidentally when he was trying to shoot an invisible Peter. I can only imagine the ramifications of those actions, considering she had hinted to Nathan that she’d leak Peter and Nathan’s powers to the press. She didn’t do much for the show, so I’m not really that sorry to see her go. Hiro and Ando have parted ways, but I’m sure it’s only temporary. Parkman and the Radioactive Guy will finally get to confront HRG (Claire’s Dad) next week, which will more than likely answer some questions for Claire, who has plenty questions and suspicions regarding her father. Is he good, bad or indifferent? Guess we have to wait until next week to find out!

In sad news, Kathy Griffin’s father died over the weekend. He was a central and comical part of her show on Bravo and best wishes go out to her and her family during this very difficult time. I mean, even if you don’t think she’s funny, she’s really having a hard time catching a break in the last year!

XM and Sirius have decided to merge, although how that will affect current customers is still up in the air. Apparently the receivers for both are not compatible with the other so there’ll probably be a lot of reconfiguring and new receivers for all. Does that mean eventually I’ll get Howard Stern!? I guess it doesn’t really matter since I’m not in the car long enough to really enjoy it, but it’d be a nice alternative. It’ll be a while before everything’s figured out, so I don’t think I have much to worry about for quite some time.

In celebrity news, Ray Liotta has been arrested for drunk driving. Ray Liotta is one of those men for me that I’ve always loved, but has gone the way of Tom Skerrit recently. He was such a hottie, and now he’s very hit or miss. I have no desire to see his mug shot, as I’d like to think of him circa Goodfellas. That’s my fantasy Ray Liotta…

Someone put me out of my misery...

I took an Afro Latin dance class at my gym last night. It’s only offered on Mondays at 5 pm and since I had the day off, I figured I’d give it a shot. My cousin Chrissy took it a few times and raved about it, so I’ve been trying to find the time to try it. Wow. It was intense! I admit, I eyeballed the clock the whole time, not because I wasn’t having fun, but because I thought my body was going to give out on me. It was an amazing work out and I don’t know if I’ve ever sweated (is that a word?) that much in my entire life. Fifteen minutes into the class I had basically sweated out every toxin I’d consumed in the last three months. I can only imagine the amount of calories you burn by taking the class. It wasn’t really difficult, but there were no breathers. You were constantly moving, even when you took a drink. My arms, thighs and lower back burn like a son of a bitch today, but I think it’s a good pain. I wish I could do it again but I’m not even out of work when it starts. The class was taught by Mon Ray, a tall, incredibly in shape black man with blonde hair. I’ve never seen anyone move like him and he was incredibly energetic, making sure all the girls were shaking it as best they could. He was a definite hoot and if I could take it again (when I recover) I would. It’s offered at two more area gyms, but since I’m not a member it’ll probably cost me $10 or so to go. It’s good, but I don’t know if it’s THAT good! But yes.. here I am at my desk, trying to find a comfortable position. It’s not working all that well. I’m sure eventually I will thank Mon Ray, but today is not that day!!!

What a great weekend!

Friday night was supposed to be the festivities surrounding my cousin Lindsey’s 21st birthday. J. and I met the group at Meadowgreens, where Lindsey had a pretty nasty headache. We then went to Melino’s and had a few drinks there. Well, Lindsey had a few drinks, hten went to the St. Charles. Tre, J. and I had a few more drinks and called my cousin Laura (Lindsey’s sister) to bring us home. She offered and we gave her a couple bucks for doing it, as college kids usually are in dire need of some extra cash! It was a fun night and it was nice for J. and I to be able to get drunk together and not have to worry about driving.

Saturday we all went to Earth Foods for breakfast. I almost always get the chicken quesadilla there, but since it was breakfast time I got an omelet, some turkey sausage and a bagel. The bagel was good. I should have ordered the quesadilla. J. and I picked up my car and then spent the rest of the day on the couch watching a marathon of Reno 911. It was a very lazy Saturday. Around 7 I got up the energy to take a shower, but decided not to go see Hannibal Rising. I didn’t really want to see the movie and I didn’t really want to leave the house! Lazy? Maybe, but I’ll live through it. Instead I watched The Illusionist. It wasn’t bad which was surprising as my sister hated it. The Prestige is better and comes out on video tomorrow so I recommend that also.

Sunday I decided to go to Pier One and see if I could use up my gift card that Tre had gotten me for my birthday. I went down to Kingston and perused the merchandise, but was unsure of what I wanted to get. On the way home I stopped at the new Super Wal-Mart in Catskill and picked up a few things. It’s a pretty nice Wal-Mart (and that says a lot considering we all know my disdain for the Wal-Mart) and the food prices were actually really cheap. I think I will probably do my big grocery shopping there to save some dough. I would have bought more, but there were no carts to be found so I could only buy what I could carry in my arms. That night was pretty mellow. Tre and I watched Glory Road and Deliverance. One was a feel good flick! Deliverance was pretty much what I expected, and I’m glad I finally saw it. I’ve been on one canoe trip in my life and it was a disaster so I wasn’t planning on going on another one anyway. I DEFINITELY will not be going on one again after seeing Deliverance, that’s for sure. Anyway, I made tacos, downloaded some updates for my laptop and looked for jobs online. Oh yeah.. it’s gotten THAT bad. Leaving might be worth not getting paid for my time to go to Ireland.
Today I watched the movie “The Ringer” with Johnny Knoxville and Katherine Heigl. What can I say? It was on HBO when I got up this morning so I thought I’d give it a shot. It was funny, but only as funny as the trailer. It wasn’t a total waste of time though, let’s put it that way. After that I called my mom and had her accompany me (again) to Pier One. I really just needed a second opinion on what I wanted to buy. I ended up getting a cute chair for our living room, a mat for the laundry room and a beaded curtain for the laundry room closet. Everything looks better than I expected so I was pretty happy with the purchase. What was even nicer was that I only had to spend $15.00 on everything. Not a bad deal if you ask me!

Anyway, I very much enjoyed my holiday weekend and I wanted to update you on what’s been going on. I’ll try to get to the gossip later as that crazy bitch Britney shaved her head and Tom Brady knocked up Bridget Moynahan. Guess that whole “she’s getting skinny to compete with Gisele Bundchen” rumor isn’t exactly true. Hmm.. I guess I just caught you up on the gossip, but I’m sure there’ll be some more tomorrow!

Oh yeah.. this is the picture I was supposed to post a few weeks ago of me and my newly svelte friend Tim. He's ALMOST as adorable as me!!!

Sometimes you just need a change of pace...

I decided I need a new call tone for my phone. You know, the one people hear instead of a ring? Right now I have Daughtry - It’s Not Over. J. hates it and it’s not a very good rendition so most people can't even tell what it is. Anyway, I went onto the Sprint website and here are some of my choices. Let me know what you think:

“If You Were Gay” from the musical Avenue Q (if you see one Broadway show in your life, let it be this. It’s hysterical!);
“Brass Monkey” - The Beastie Boys;
“If I Had $1,000,000” - Barenaked Ladies;
“No Diggity” - Blackstreet;
“The Distance” - Cake;
"Sexyback" - Justin Timberlake
“Sunglasses at Night” - Corey Hart.

Nothing from Counting Crows, Huey Lewis or Live floated my boat and they don’t make it all that easy for you to search, so I got bored kind of quick. I started looking for a new phone instead. I can get a $75 rebate as I’ve had my phone for over a year, but that’s really not much with the current price of phones.

Anyway, I got some work (finally) so I should make an effort for the short time I’m still here. Happy President’s Day!!!

And the snow came...

After I left work on Tuesday, I went to J.’s as I figured it’d be easier for me to drive to work from his house, rather than mine. When I got there, he gave me the one thing I’ve been wanting for weeks…. NO cheeky monkeys, not that! A copy of The Departed, just released. That was his way of “celebrating” Valentine’s Day in a passive-aggressive kind of way and I’m ok with it! He also made me dinner: Lemon Pepper chicken with mashed potatoes and corn. It was pretty damn good too! He also went to the store to get food so I wouldn’t be stuck in his house, starving for two days, which was kind of sweet of him. Every once in a while, they turn on the sweetness. Gotta give him props for that. I gave him his card which he thought was funny and that was it.

I got a very lovely phone call early on Wednesday morning, letting me know that my office was closing for the day. Thank goodness because there was no way in hell I was driving into work on Wednesday. Earlier that morning I had made J. call me when he got to work (I was at his house) and it took him double the regular time and he said the roads were pretty crappy. I spent the morning watching school closings, Dawson’s Creek and the aforementioned Brick and Scrubs. I also had plenty of bonding time with J.’s roomie and his dog. Great fun, that it was! J. ended up having to work late because most people had called in, so he asked me to marinate the steaks he had bought. Ok, I think I’ve made it pretty clear that I don’t know shit about cooking. I actually called my sister and asked her how to marinate. First problem: The only thing I can find in the freezer besides chicken are boneless, skinless breasts (?) of pork. I assume that’s what he’s talking about. I then put them in the sink and ran hot water over them to get the defrosting process underway. A few hours later I poked holes in them (he told me that would make the marinade sink in a little better) and thought I marinated them. I smothered the pork with marinade and then put them on the baking tray and back in the fridge to further defrost. As I’m patting myself on the back I come across my second problem: I marinated it with the wrong thing. He had two bottles of marinade in the fridge; one a steakhouse marinade and the other a mesquite. Well, he had used the mesquite (along with the lemon pepper) the night before and had wanted me to use the steakhouse. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now! I let him know I did it and he didn’t really care either way. Plus, it wasn’t steak so I figured it would work out better the way I did it (or so I’ve told myself). Anyway, I used about half a bottle of the marinade and let them sit. He got home and called his mother to see how he should broil the steaks, as he’d never really done anything but cook them on the grill, and considering the snow and cold, that wasn’t really an option. She gave him directions and everything was well. I could hear him pounding around in the kitchen, but thought nothing of it. He comes into the bedroom (where I’m still watching Scrubs), sits down on the bed and gives me this weird smile… then starts laughing. So I said “I’ve never marinated before, give me a break!!” Well, he’s still laughing and is trying to tell me how to do it, but I really don’t care at this point and he knows that. Yes.. it’s a funny story about cooking, as usual, and I’m sure he’ll tell everyone I know. He did say that the steaks turned out just fine, even though I marinated them poorly and in the wrong thing (Ok, he didn’t say it quite like that, but I know what he was thinking). However, he did have his own brain fart: He said to me “I’ve never had a steak come out this white before.” My response: “That’s because you bought pork, not steak.” We both kept eating until I couldn’t stand it anymore and just burst out laughing. Yep.. that was my Valentine’s Day!

I called in on Thursday. My car was buried in his driveway and there was no way it was getting out without some extra help. I don’t shovel. I never have and hope to God I never will. You have to start that when you’re a kid. My sister was always the one that would help Dad, while I sat inside with a hot cocoa and a BabySitter’s Club book. I’m ok with that. Therefore, you understand why I was agonizing about getting my car out of its snow covered cocoon. So yeah.. I called in and told them I spun out into a field on my way to work and that was motivation enough for me to go home. Honestly, there’s a huge hill I have to get down on the way from J.’s and I was kind of nervous. And oh yeah… you couldn’t see my car. Anyway, I had nothing to do and nowhere to go so I vegged out for most of the morning, but when I emerged, my car was miraculously dug out of it’s little igloo! J.’s roommate decided to shovel the driveway and since my car was in there too, he dug it out for me. I was very pleasantly surprised and yes, I could have gone to work, but I didn’t. Instead I finished disk 2 of Scrubs, checked my email and listened to his dog whine for two hours while he went skiing. I could have left but the last time I put the dog in its cage is when he jumped through J.’s window, so I didn’t really want to take that chance again. J. came home around 3 and we hung out for a bit before I went home. Sue and I had decided we weren’t in the mood to go to dance that night, so I went home and had Moxie’s pizza with my parents, then a slice of awesome ice cream cake at my Aunt and Uncle’s to celebrate my cousin Lindsey’s 21st birthday. I’m now officially old. Actually, I will officially feel old tonight when we take her out and we’re with all her friends. So yeah, that’s the plan for tonight. J. and I are meeting everyone out after bowling and since my cousin Laura is driving us around, we can BOTH get drunk, which is a rarity for us. Should be entertaining to say the least. I’m sure there will be shots (which I’m not good at) and I think my Uncle Jackie is videotaping the festivities. Granted, he could be lying but it’s a great idea if he’s not! I hope to remember my camera so I’ll take some pictures and we’ll see how Lindsey handles her big night out!

I’ve done NOTHING today. Like I had anticipated, my co-worker is giving me the deep freeze today. I totally forgot about a deadline since I was out yesterday, and she ended up having to do some work for me. In all honesty, it shouldn’t have been that much as I’d passed the torch to the attorney who needed to finish things up. All she had to do was check it and mail it out, but she’s been cranky all week so I’m keeping my distance. Anyway, I leave at 4:30 (yay) as I got here around 8 am, so only an hour or so of faking it. I need gas desperately! I thought I could make it home but my ¼ of a tank quickly changed to that point where the gas light turns on. Gas is at least $.07 cents higher near Albany but it’s so damn cold out that I don’t want to stop twice regardless of price. Ok.. went off on a bit of a tangent on that one. Anyway, have a great weekend and I’ll try to get some pictures up over the weekend. The HOLIDAY weekend! That reminds me. I’m off on Monday. Now if only I could have had today off. A 6 day weekend sounds good to me! Have a good one!!

Let's Talk TV

Ok.. first things first - Grey’s Anatomy. Now, they said there would be a death and technically, there was because Meredith was flatlined when the show ended last night. However, I really can’t believe they’re going to kill her off. Hell, the show is named GREY’S Anatomy! Also, her dying would be so blatantly obvious considering she was thrown into the water last week. My guess is that she’s going to be bought back to life, but I can’t imagine who else they would kill off! We did get our brief Denny Duquette appearance, and how nice to see Kyle Chandler in his paramedic glory. Much sexier than that football coach garb they have him wearing on Friday Night Lights! Anyway, I guess we need to tune in to see who’s going to bite it, if that’s the case! Oh yeah.. Izzie.. definite Rockstar!

I have yet to watch The Office as I got home near the end of it last night and didn’t want to ruin it. So, once I watch that this weekend, I’ll let you know what I think Somehow (I won’t say how or with whom) I managed to watch Top Design this week. The remaining decorators were split into three teams and there was animosity from the get go! They were each given a postcard of a beach location and had to build and design a cabana that was innovative and reflected their area. Team St. Tropez consisted of Carissa, Ryan and Goil. It was obvious from the start that Carisa and Ryan were going to butt heads (and I’m pretty sure Goil called her Larissa a few times) so I wasn’t surprised to see Ryan in the bottom, as his choices weren’t real helpful (Carisa saw St. Tropez as classy, while Ryan saw it as topless ladies). Their design was pretty innovative, even if their furnishings were anything but! The team of Matt, Elizabeth and Eric got Miami and seemed to be doing a good job until it came to their heinous color choices, spearheaded by Elizabeth (although they all did agree). They were so NOT Miami and kind of gaudy. That choice sent Elizabeth into the final three and Matt joined her and Ryan for his lack of vision. Obviously, the winners were Felicia, Michael and Andrea, although I can’t remember what their location was. Their cabana was really great, although it did lack a roof. However, it best epitomized what the judges were looking for so they won a weekend getaway in Santa Monica (I believe). Elizabeth was sent home, and she was pretty upset about it. She didn’t do much for me so I’m ok with seeing her go. What should have gone was judge Kelly Wearstler’s knee socks and open toed shoes combo. At first I thought she was wearing teal boots but no, it was worse.

Wednesday night I watched Bones, which I’m really getting into. However, it’s now on hiatus for a month while American Idol is on. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Idol, but I don’t need to watch it three times a week. Who has that time!? I am ok with the Top 24, but no one has wowed me yet like last year. I guess only time will tell!

I did watch Brick, a movie I got from Netflix, during the snowstorm. It was decent. A little hard to follow at times, but still good. One of the lead characters was played by Nora Zehetner, aka Eden from Heroes. It was kind of a whodunit, film noir set in a high school (at least that’s what the envelope said). I don’t think my attention span was in on it, or it probably would have been better. I also got through the first two discs of Season One of Scrubs that J. has been up my ass to watch. Now I only have three more hours to watch before he starts in with season two.. I should make him bring that down for me so I can do it this weekend sometime. I never got into Scrubs when it first started, but I’ve caught it in syndication and I find it to be pretty hilarious. I’m always the last kid to the party.

I’ll try to give you the scoop on the last couple of days later. TGIF!!!!

I'm back!

Did you miss me? Damn right you did. More on that later but I wanted to bring you this interesting little tidbit of news. Let's hope Chris Daughtry comes to his senses and makes the same decision (I'm sorry.. that's so mean. I don't know his wife and I'm sure she's a nice gal... but a girl can dream). Oh PS - Speaking of American Idol.. they put a baldie through to the Top 24 and my little beat boxer made it as well. Hey C. Howe - the Jack Osbourne lookalike is from Greenville, SC! Now you have a claim to fame for your adopted hometown and now, I can watch.

Let it Snow?

I’m anticipating a snow day tomorrow, and if that is true, you won’t be seeing much of me until maybe Thursday. I plan on staying at J.’s house tonight (he lives closer to my work) but if it’s snowing like a bitch when I get up there is not a snowball’s chance in hell that I will come in (no pun intended). They don’t know where I’m staying plus, I have to get down a pretty steep hill and some windy turns to get from J.’s to work and I don’t have a really good feeling about that. I was going to just drive home tonight but he went to the store and got stuff so we wouldn’t have to leave the house for the next few days. I think this was his way of celebrating Valentine’s Day and doing something nice for me, since he “doesn’t believe” in it. I bought a book and plenty of movies to his house to entertain myself with tomorrow. Hell, I might even clean his room if I get that bored!

Anyway, here are some news and/or interesting tidbits I’ve heard about today:

There is going to be a death on Grey’s Anatomy and apparently it’s someone BIG. Someone you would never think they would kill. Meredith would be too obvious since she’s already languishing in the bottom of the ocean (would it be the ocean? I don’t know, but you get the point) so I’m very curious. It can’t be Burke as I don’t think they would have gone to such trouble to rehab him if they were just planning on killing him. They say it’s big, but I really hope it’s no one major. Although it could explain the Denny Duquette appearance that seems to be coming up. Maybe he and Izzie will reunite in Heaven..

Speaking of Heaven, Happy Birthday goes out to my grandfather, Ray Konderwich! Granted, he’s not really getting older, but I’m sure he’d appreciate the shout out.

This week marks the “Business School” episode of The Office that is being directed by Joss Whedon. Will it be reminiscent of his work on Buffy? Well, Dwight spends most of the episode tussling with a bat. Speaking of Dwight, Rainn Wilson will be hosting SNL on February 24th. I’m not sure who the musical guest is as of yet, but I’ll see what I can find out. If not, he could probably entertain the audience with a medley of songs on his recorder!

In American Idol news, Kellie Pickler’s father has been arrested for assault on a female companion with a steak knife. Oh Clyde, don’t let a steak knife send you back to the pokey!!! Also, tomorrow night the Top 24 will be announced, and I will finally be allowed to watch and/or DVR Idol again. I think it might conflict with America’s Next Top Model. Whatever is a girl to do!?

Speaking of crimes, bandits (do we even use the word bandits anymore) broke into the Hollywood Hills mansion of Faith Hill and Tim McGraw. Apparently they didn’t get anything but a small amount of money. What a waste of a robbery!!!

A dog that is part owned by Bill Cosby won the Terrier Group at the Westminster Dog Show. It will now compete for Best in Show. The dog is a Dandie Dinmont named Harry, after Prince Harry. It’s kind of cute and apparently a very winning show dog!

Since I may not be able to blog on Valentine’s Day, click here for a list of the most romantic movies set in New York. I was going to bring my laptop to J.’s but I wasn’t sure if his roomie had a wireless connection so I figured it’d be one less thing for me to pack, as it seems I’ve packed everything but the kitchen sink as it is. What sucks about that is I can’t take the Pop Culture Aptitude Test on VH1.com. If I did well on it, I could be part of the internet team on the World Series of Pop Culture!! Oh well… maybe next year… again!

Hope you all manage to get out of the snow unscathed. Have safe trips to anywhere you need to go (or just don't go anywhere at all!) Hope everyone has a Happy Valentine’s Day, whether you "believe" in the holiday or not! (Oh yeah.. if you go to kiss your sweetheart, make sure you have good aim... us chicks hate it when you miss)!!!

Was this really necessary?

I don't know what the O's ever did to God to piss him off, but I pray they fix it, and SOON!

Did you miss me?

Yep, I did it. I called in sick on Friday. It couldn’t have felt better. I told them my eye was swollen shut. This way I didn’t have to do the fake “sick” voice which I’m not really all that good at. I will more than likely call in again on Wednesday, as it’s supposed to snow all day and I’m not risking my life to get here. I’m packing a bag for J’s under the anticipation that I could be camped out there until Friday. I might have to bring an extra bag for food and movies, unless I get motivated to clean his cesspool of a room. It could get that bad.

So anyway, Friday was nice. I downloaded songs to my Ipod, watched Rumor Has It (glad I waited for it to come out on DVD) and went to the gym. That night at bowling I had a good feeling. My first game was only 160. Not quite the vibe I had been hoping for. My next game was 221 and I lost the jackpot by 2 pins. Final game was 211, and I lost the jackpot by one pin. For total I bowled a 592, as did my other two teammates. The odds of that happening are pretty slim and that meant we all split the final jackpot. So, I made $3 on the night. Unreal! J. had called earlier in the day and told me that he wanted to booze it up a bit that night, so he bought beer to my house and we played pool and talked. It was a fun night, but I got a little tipsier than I had thought, and had to get up to avoid bed spins around 2 am. Luckily, I got over that and fell asleep (well, passed out) pretty quickly.

Saturday was kind of a wasted day. I caught myself up on Grey’s Anatomy (GREAT shows lately) and The Office. I was extremely peeved that Pam left the wedding with Roy, even though he has been looking much better since that pesky DWI he got after Pam dumped him. I guess if it was that easy to get Pam and Jim together it wouldn’t be much of a show, right? At least that’s what I’m trying to tell myself. Anyway, that night I dragged Justin to a burlesque show by The Lipstick Lovelies at the Lark Tavern. (If you live anywhere from NYC to Albany and you haven’t caught their show, you really should. It’s great!) A few friends I used to dance with are in the show and I thought he might find it entertaining. He actually enjoyed it! Granted, there were half naked girls, but he even found the songs and dances to be funny, so that was pretty cool. We had dinner there with my friend Sue and her husband, who’s a hoot and a half to say the least. It was a really great night and we were home and in bed by 11:30 as J. had to work the next day.

Sunday morning I rolled out of J.’s bed with all these aspirations for the day. Then he got out of work early and we went to breakfast. I got nothing done on Sunday, but it was worth it. I ate like a cow this week so I can’t see my weigh in going really well tonight, but sometimes you have those weeks! Anyway, we went to Friendly’s for breakfast and then lounged around for most of the morning/afternoon. He watched the Pro Bowlers Tour with me and I tried to explain scoring, lane conditions and the like to him, but he wasn’t understanding. We switched to Mythbusters before the second game. I guess it’s something that’s so second nature to me that I don’t really know how to explain it to someone. Later on that night my sister, our friends Kate and Brian and my friend Melissa (she used to work with me) all met at Bombers Burrito Bar to cheer on our friend Justin in the Adult Spelling Bee. I definitely should have entered! There were some tough words, but I think I would have done pretty well. Apparently they have one in the fall too, so maybe I’ll enter then. He came in 10th out of 32 competitors so congratulations go out to him. Also, if you get the Times Union, look for him in Friday’s edition! It was a valiant effort and entertaining to watch.

Now here we are… it’s Monday. My alarm didn’t go off again this morning and I’m still unsure why. I know I didn’t sleep through it because it gets louder the longer it’s on and I’m a pretty light sleeper. I guess I need to be woken up to a buzzer, but I really hate it. It’s so… dramatic! So I missed the gym again today. I guess a three day hiatus might have been just what I needed, as I’ve been getting a tad bored. My sister keeps insisting she’s going to give me a weight routine but she hasn’t had time. I could do it myself I guess, but I don’t really know what I’m doing! I did not watch the Grammys so I can’t wax poetic about the heinous outfits on the carpet, and I still haven’t gotten around to blogging about Top Design. Maybe later on this week. Time to do some work. I went to lunch with a co-worker today and got a little hosed on the bill, so I’m still silently fuming about that. I know she didn’t do it on purpose, and it’s my fault for not saying anything, but still. The nice thing was, I saw a girl at the restaurant that I haven’t seen in quite some time. We were pretty good friends when I went to Columbia Greene so it was really cool to see her, even though we didn’t have a chance to talk at all as I had to get back to work. Anyway, like I said.. back to work!

Is this a sign?

My ipod is on shuffle... Manic Monday just came on.

Here's one way to get everyone off that astronaut story

Something shady is going on here, don't you agree?

I have a new obsession

And if you're anything like me, I think you will too..

My alarm didn't go off this morning..

I don’t know why. It was set like it’s been set for the past week, but the only reason I woke up was because I heard my sister banging pots (or at least that’s what it sounded like) a little before 7 this morning. I guess I needed the extra sleep, but I had everything planned to go to the gym, as I didn’t go Wednesday and had no plans to go on Friday. I really hate when my schedule is fucked with. Speaking of banging, I’ve been feeling much like banging my head against a wall this week, as it’s been insanely not busy at work (I know what you were thinking, dirty birds). I think I’m going to come in tomorrow and then “go home sick.” I can’t take it. Not on a Friday. More on that to come.

At the movies last night I saw the trailer for a new Katherine Heigl movie, “Knocked Up.” Heigl plays an entertainment reporter who gets knocked up by a one night stand, played by “The Forty Year Old Virgin” and “Freaks and Geeks” actor, Seth Rogen. It looks like the story is basically how they get to know each other and deal with the fact that they’re having a baby. I’m looking forward to it coming out. It comes from the same group of people who made The Forty Year Old Virgin and while I still haven’t totally embraced the funny of that movie, this one looks like it could be a winner and make a movie star out of Heigl.

While watching, “Because I Said So,” it occurred to me that I don’t like Diane Keaton as an actress. The only movie I ever liked her in was “The First Wives Club” and that’s only because she had Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn to play off of. Her character was so annoying and irritating and I don’t know who dressed her in the movie, but her clothes were heinous. I don’t think there was ever a scene where she wasn’t wearing a huge, wide belt (above her natural waist). Also, the fact that she looks better in her underwear than I do really put a bad taste in my mouth. SPOILERS AHEAD: It’s not that the movie was bad, it just wasn’t that good. I really like Mandy Moore and I really liked her character, but I don’t think she made any realistic choices. I mean, if you’re miserable with one guy and jubilant with the other, don’t stick with the one that makes you cry! It’s not like you’ll be single and unhappy since you’ve got the other one just waiting for you to come to your senses! Also.. at the end, Diane Keaton married Stephen Collins (the Rev. on Seventh Heaven), who is also the father of her daughter’s boyfriend. What kind of mother does that!? I mean… they’re now stepbrother and sister!!! The whole movie you talked about your daughter’s happiness, and then you marry his dad!? No!!! Would they be able to get married now since their parents are married? I mean, technically they’re not blood related, but I just found that to be really strange and I was not pleased with that ending! But hey, the popcorn was good. There’s always an upside. Plus, Chrissy and I figured out that our next date with be “Music and Lyrics” starring Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. What can I say? Cheesy, but funny. Tre even said she’d probably see it and she LOATHES Hugh Grant. That’s got to be a good sign!

As I’m sure you can see, another boring day awaits. I watched both episodes of Top Design last night so I’ll let you in on what I think of that later on. It’s no Project Runway but what it lacks in substance, it makes up for in pissy gay hissy fits. What more could a girl ask for?

I gave it a shot

Last night at dinner, J. got a salad (as usual, I refused mine). As he was eating his, I told him to give me a small piece of lettuce with dressing on it (ranch) just so I could see what I was missing. The answer to that question is NOTHING. No matter what you put on it, it still tastes like crunchy water. Maybe with ranch dressing, chicken, bacon bits and other tasty goodness to mask the lettuce, it'd be ok. But I doubt it.

Funny how things change...

As I mentioned earlier, I had lunch with my friend Tim this afternoon. We had such a great time chatting about things that had been going on in our lives, and about all the people who have changed, for better or worse. I was quite surprised when I saw him, as he is now about half of his former self! It’s probably been two and a half years (give or take) since I’ve seen him and he’s shed well over 100 pounds. Knowing how hard it is to do (especially the amount he took off) I commended him all lunch hour! Apparently he is/was doing some sort of weight loss plan down in Florida that is reminiscent of LA Weight Loss or Weight Watchers. Also, as a pseudo celebrity in those parts (he’s a DJ on a local morning show) he’s been tapped as their spokesperson and has commercials running during his morning show. Even while he’s up here he’s making money off those commercials! I took a picture of us before he left so I’ll try to post that in the near future. Anyway, it was a great time and it was good to see him and catch up!

As usual, today is not flying by fast enough. I’m considering taking a sick day but I think it would look shady if I took Friday off. Plus, my sister is taking it off too and doesn’t it defeat the purpose if you can’t be home by yourself? It’s not like I have anything special to do, but I have nothing going on at work either. Call me crazy, but I’d rather watch Deliverance than sit at work trying to think of ways to fake work. I’m sure I won’t have the balls to do it, but it sounds like a good idea.

In TV news: TLC is coming out with a modeling show called “The Petra Nemocova Project.” It seems like it will be the anti-America’s Next Top Model and more “realistic” to the way the modeling world works. I admit it, I’m intrigued. Are you surprised?

CBS has tapped Mark Paul Gosselaar to play a public defender in an office run by Janeane Garafalo for an upcoming pilot. How soon do you think it’ll be before Screech cameos as one of Zach’s cases? Could be sooner rather than later if he keeps up his Celebrity Fit Club escapades!

Here’s a clip from tomorrow night’s brand new episode of The Office.

In another stellar cameo, Stan Lee will appear in the February 19th episode of Heroes as a bus driver who has an encounter with Hiro. How does Hiro get all the sci-fi geek guest stars!?

If you live in a relatively metro area and want to see the Oscar nominees for best picture, click here.

I don’t know if any of you saw the Snickers commercial where two guys kissed as they tried to eat from different ends of the Snickers. In order to squash the homo undertones, they then proceeded to rip out their chest hair. I’m sorry, I laughed my ass off at this commercial and I can’t believe it’s that big a deal that they’re never running it again. I did happen to see it at my ultra religious cousin’s house on Superbowl Sunday. I don’t think I need to say that it went over like a fart in church. A really loud, offensively smelly fart during the Priest’s homily.

Hump the Day Away

It’s hump day. That usually makes me happy, I admit. However, I may have made a small oversight in some paperwork for work, and I’m not sure how that’s going to suss itself out. I’m sure it’ll turn out fine, but there’s this impending dread looming around me. I’ll keep you posted.
On a good note, I get to have lunch with my friend Tim today. I’ve known Tim since high school when he wrote in my yearbook “when we getting naked?” I keep pushing the date back, but I think he still holds out hope, which doesn’t hurt a girl’s self esteem! He’s a DJ on a country station down in Florida, and just happened to be home this week. Unfortunately, this is the only time we could find to get together. I came in a half hour early so we’d have a little extra time to catch up. I think we’ll just walk next door to the Albany Pump Station to get lunch. It’s close and will give us even more time to chat. I think this will really turn my day around, and who doesn’t love an extended lunch?

Tonight me, my sister, my cousin Chrissy and my friend Lynn are all going to see “Because I Said So.” What can I say? I like Mandy Moore and sometimes nothing makes a girl feel better than a chick flick…. and having popcorn for dinner. I’ll give you my review tomorrow. It hasn’t received great reviews, but it was 2nd at the box office this weekend so I’ll give it a shot.

OOH.. great news.. my mistake isn’t a mistake after all. This day is already looking up!

Last night was pretty mellow. J. had said he was going to make me dinner, but when I got to the house, nothing was cooking. That kind of put me in a cranky mood because it was so cold out and I really didn’t want to have to go outside again. He took me to this cute Italian restaurant, which I’m sure wreaked havoc with my Weight Watchers! I ordered chicken fettucini with garlic and oil (instead of fettucini alfredo), which was really great. However, the order was SOOO huge that I barely could eat any of it. Now J. has something to eat when he gets home from work today. I also had two slices of bread with butter (mmm.. real butter) and a little bit of his fried mozzarella. All things considered, I could have done worse and since I worked out yesterday I’m not going to beat myself up over it. I’ll have a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch with Tim and popcorn for dinner at the movies.. Will there be butter on it? Oh hell yes.. but not as much as usual. I won’t eat anything for the rest of the night so I think it’ll work itself out. That’s what your extra points are for, right? He wanted to catch a movie after that, but there really wasn’t anything out that we would both see (we’re not good at movie compromise) or that we’d make the early show for. God knows staying up for the late show on a school night is not our forte! Instead we went home and watched A Bronx Tale. I made it through an hour (but I’ve already seen it) and he probably made it slightly more than that before we shut the TV off. We’re like old people sometimes.. except they can stay up way later than we can!

No crazy diaper wearing astronauts to speak of, so it must be a slow news day. I’ll try to log back on later with some gossip to brighten your day. If I don’t get a chance… hump ‘em if you got ‘em and this is your one week Valentine's Day warning!!!! J. "doesn't believe" in Valentine's Day and if I were single, I'd agree. But I'm not... I got him a card but I'm not expecting anything... So basically it'll be like the last mmm... 30 years!!!

To quote Buckcherry

Crazy Bitch

What a night!

If you haven’t gotten into Heroes yet, you must do so. Last night was an awesome episode, as was last week (I finally watched it before last night’s episode). I’m disappointed that my sister couldn’t get into it, because I want to talk about it with someone! Things are coming out that I never expected and I heard there’ll be one hell of a cliff hanger to end the first season. Believe it or not, I don’t get into shows so much that it irks me to miss an episode. It pained me to have to wait a week to watch this show. That says something.

Speaking of great TV, Jennifer Esposito will join the cast of Rescue Me for the season premiere. She will play a volunteer firefighter that has a history with Tommy Gavin, and may also turn into a love interest for the season. If I remember correctly, Tommy was basically facing a fiery death with Sheila (who I’m pretty sure got out of the burning beach house before he did) at the end of last season. Does this mean Sheila went back in to get him and died? I hope not, because a Sheila/Jennifer Esposito catfight would be an incredible bit of television, don’t you agree? That bitch is crazy (in a good way of course)! What I’m saying is, it looks like Tommy will still be alive and kicking next season, although with this show you can be dead and still remain a pretty central character.

If you love The Office as much as I do (what was I saying about not really getting into TV shows?), check out this link. It’s a 10 minute video clip of the greatest scenes from the show. It was a little lengthy, but had some really great moments on it. I don’t think I watched the show that much in the first season so it looks like I better bust out my Season One DVD and refresh my memory!

Could it be true? Are the 80’s really back? God, I hope so!

Former O’s pitcher Steve Barber died on Sunday from complications of pneumonia at the age of 67. Barber was the Orioles first 20 game winner and was named to two All-Star teams during his time there. He was also a member of the O’s Hall of Fame.

I lost 2 more pounds, but I think mom is still ahead of me which I’ll never understand. I’m at the gym at least four days a week, sweating my ass off. Speaking of which, my cousin wants me to go to this Afro Latin Dance class with her. They offer it at my gym, but only on Mondays at 5 pm. They offer it at her gym Saturday mornings at 8 and Thursday nights at 6:30 and it’ll cost me $10. I don’t know if I want to spend $10 on it right now, is that sad? Plus, there’s usually a cute boy in my bed on Saturday mornings and I’m not sure I want to get out of a nice, warm bed that early! Anyway, I’ll let you know what I decide. I will do it eventually. If I can find someone to go with me, I might try it on the 22nd. I don’t have dance class that night so I can more than likely make it to the class at 6:30. To celebrate our weight losses, mom and I housed a Four Brothers pizza. It was insanely good and also insanely expensive! $18.50 for a large pepperoni and extra cheese pizza. That seems a little much to me, but I didn’t pay for it. Just ate the shit out of it. It was like heaven.. Then I watched Heroes and The Hills before I hit the hay. That’s a lot of H’s! Anyway, time to work… hopefully more to come later.

I cared about (and am happy with) the outcome of the Superbowl!

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know the Colts won the Superbowl and Peyton Manning finally scored that elusive ring. After the kick-off I was a little concerned, but the Colts stepped it up, made it a game and then ran away with the title. I adore Tony Dungy but I think it was hysterical how they kept making such a big deal that he was the first African-American Coach to win the Superbowl. Not because it’s not an accomplishment, but because no matter which team won that Coach would be the first African American Coach to win the Superbowl. Catch my drift? Anyhoo… congratulations to the Indianapolis Colts! I didn’t catch much of Prince’s half-time show, but you know girlfriend was pissed that his “coif” got wet! I’ve heard mixed feelings about his performance but all in all, it seemed OK.

Great news - Tim Gunn insists he will be back for Season 4 of Project Runway. No, that was not a tornado, but the collective sighs of relief from the fashion world.

When I got into work today I learned our motherboard had been blown out over the weekend, so I had a feeling it wasn’t going to be a very good day. Seems everyone is on edge. Personally, I can’t wait to get the hell out of here, but that doesn’t really make it different from any other day now does it? It’s weigh in night, and after that I plan to watch last week’s Heroes to prepare for this week’s Heroes. I found out my friend Tim is in town, so I had anticipated meeting him out for a drink or two, but we’re going to do lunch on Wednesday instead. I really want to see him, but it’ll be nice to have a free night also.

J. and I went to see Smokin’ Aces on Friday night. Halfway through the movie he gave me this devilish grin and I knew he had figured out the plot. He does this all the time and it’s so irritating… in a good way of course, but still. Anyway, the movie wasn’t spectacular. There was a lot going on and lots of violence, but it wasn’t awful either. Certainly wasn’t a vanity piece for Jeremy Piven. He looked like death warmed over about 100 times. Not a bad way to spend a couple hours though, that’s for sure.

Saturday I cooked breakfast (pancakes and sausage) and J. and I basically hung out until I decided to go to the gym. He had to run home as he forgot his steel toed boots for work, so it worked out pretty well. Later on that night we went cosmic bowling with some buddies of mine from my softball team and my cousins. We had such a great time. It’s kind of hard for my sister and I to bowl for fun, as you still don’t want to bowl bad, but it really was entertaining and fun. I think we’re going to try to do it again next month and I was thinking of taking the girls when they come into town in late March. It was $10 for 2 hours and that was plenty! We hung out at the bar for a while afterwards, ate some garlic popcorn (which we all tasted the next day) and then hightailed it to bed as J. had to work at 6 am the next morning. I woke up famished, but had to wait until we went to brunch at Meadowgreens to celebrate my father’s 55th birthday. The brunch was great, I just wished that it had more breakfast foods. The only “br” part of the brunch were scrambled eggs, potatoes and French toast sticks. We then went back to my parents house to give him his present, a REALLY nice push cart for golfing. After that I agreed to go to Albany with my mother. She just wanted to go to Macy’s and I had nothing to do before the Superbowl so I figured, why not? I ended up getting three shirts that I can wear now and then two more that I bought to take to Ireland with me (or at least that’s how I justified the purchase). It’s nice to go shopping when the clothes actually look decent on you. While I may have only lost 10 pounds, you can see it in the way my clothes fit that I’m losing inches. Unfortunately, I didn’t measure myself before I started so I’ll never really know what I’ve lost. Still, it felt pretty damn good to not sit in the dressing room, depressed that nothing fit! After I got back I went to my cousin’s for their annual Superbowl party. I was having a great time, but I didn’t think I’d be home tonight so I needed to do some laundry and other such things, so I left just before half-time. After the win, I tried to go to sleep, but I did not sleep well at all. I was up way before my alarm for the gym went off this morning and that is never a good thing. I hope I can make it through Heroes tonight!

Not much else to tell… it’s been kind of quiet lately.. My advice is to simply stay inside and bundle up. It’s pretty fricking freezing in these parts! Have a great Monday night!

How could I forget?

I know Brian Urlacher is way more my type, but how can you not want these guys to win a Superbowl ring? GO COLTS!!!!!!!!!! (photo courtesy of FOX Sports)

Who's watching the Daytona 500??

Well... I am.. at least for the first five minutes or so....

The groundhog speaks....

Punxatawney Phil did not see his shadow today, signifying an early spring. Considering we had a late winter, I guess that’s a great thing! In all honesty, I don’t recall the groundhog ever NOT seeing his shadow so this is kind of a landmark thing for me. With all the TV lights I don’t know how the groundhog ever couldn’t see his shadow, but today was that day. Way to go Phil!

Lots of entertainment news to get to. I’m hoping my day perks up so I’ll try to get a shitload in now, just in case this is my last opportunity.

Patrick Dempsey (McDreamy) and his wife welcomed a set of twin boys on Thursday. The boys are named Sullivan and Darby. Irish much?

Don Vito Margera (Bam’s uncle) will stand trial on felony charges of groping three girls at an MTV promotional appearance. Two of the girls are 12 years old, and the other 14. Apparently they came up to him for autographs and a picture, and ended up getting the bad touch. Don Vito could get probation or face up to 6 years in prison. Speaking of which, I saw the MTV show “Bam’s Unholy Union” the other night. As most of his shows are, it’s entertaining, but that’s only because he’s not my kid. In a future episode he trashes his bride’s wedding dress. That would be cause to cancel the wedding for me!

Project Runway is staying at Parsons and producers are “confident” that Tim Gunn will return.

Speaking of Bravo, Top Design was Bravo’s highest rated debut and the Top Chef finale beat ABC’s “Primetime” in the ratings.

Last Comic Standing is replacing host Anthony Clark with Bill Bellamy. They have also recruited new talent scouts: Former contestants Alonzo Bodden, Kathleen Madigan and Ant. I liked all three of them, even though Ant can be tremendously over the top. Speaking of him, drama is aplenty on the set of Celebrity Fit Club. Apparently Screech has been sequestered for being a douchebag to everyone, but mainly for threatening former Idol contestant Kimberly Locke. It’s too late in production to replace him so he’s being kept away from the other contestants until the end.

Been real tired this week. Passed out before 10 last night and didn’t get to watch any of my shows. That’s what DVR is for!! Anyway, big plans this weekend, kind of. J. and I are going cosmic bowling with my sister, cousin and some of our summer softball friends. I think it’ll be fun! Don’t know yet what I’m doing for Superbowl. Sunday is my Dad’s 55th birthday (Happy Birthday Dad) so we’re going to brunch for him and then giving him his present. I think I”ll be a tad strapped for cash and don’t want to be tantalized by pizza and wing buffets, so I might just watch the game from the privacy of my own home. Only time will tell on that one. Anyway, time to get to work. I got in at 8 am today which means I’ve wasted two hours already. Can’t wait to get out of here at 4:30. Hope that snow we’re supposed to get really is only a dusting because I don’t feel like driving to Catskill if it isn’t. Have a great weekend and perhaps you’ll get more insight from me later!

PS - Happy Birthday Rob!!!

GOOD Baseball News

The O's have signed both Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis to a one year deal. Roberts signed for 4.2 million (exactly in between what he wanted, and what the O's wanted to give) but the details of the Markakis signing are not common knowledge. Just because they signed one year deals does not mean there isn't room for extensions, just that they'll worry about that during the season or next off-season. Really, we all know what this is: An excuse for me to post a picture of my two favorite boys (compliments of orioles.com). How many days till Spring Training!? I don't think I can wait. Oh yeah.. Orioles Fanfest has been rescheduled for April 1st and additional tickets went on sale today. Lots of stuff going on and if I weren't leaving for Ireland the following weekend, I'd probably try to make it down! I bet it'd be almost as good as Photo Day and when I find out when that is you can bet my ticket will be booked (ok, well, I wouldn't bet on it, but I REALLY want to go again).

This should be my last post today. It's been a quiet day. Like, I saw a tumbleweed roll past my desk kind of quiet. Looking forward to getting out of here and having a good night, as I hope you all do. I'll be back in the AM, hopefully not too early as that means I'm still experiencing pangs of boredom. Don't forget: new episodes of The Office and Grey's Anatomy tonight. Whoopie!!!!

I'm bored

and have nothing of substance to blog about. This is not a good situation.

I was right when I thought the bridezilla video I posted yesterday was a fake.

Happy 25th Anniversary to David Letterman!

Apparently Boston is the city you want to be in if terrorists try to attack, as other cities thought nothing of the "devices" used in the Adult Swim marketing campaign. Better to be safe than sorry!?

It's February...

who's still sticking to their New Year's Resolutions!?

In a shocking upset (note the sarcasm), Ilan Hall was named the winner of Top Chef. Honestly, I fell asleep around ten of 10, and woke up again at 10:45, so I saw very little of the show. It’ll be on Bravo constantly this weekend (and I DVR’d it) so I know I’ll get to see it. What I did see was the judges fawning over Marcel’s dishes, so Ilan must have really gone balls to the wall on this one. I was in and out for the rest of the show and happened to be out when they announced the winner. Obviously, I wasn’t able to stay awake to watch Top Design, but that is also ready and waiting on my DVR. In other words, I’ll keep you posted.

In what can only be construed as great news, Tim Gunn has decided to step down from Parson and work as Creative Officer at Liz Claiborne, effective March 5, 2007. If you read the press release, it states that Liz Claiborne is very supportive of Tim’s work on Project Runway and his new Bravo show, therefore it looks like it will only be a matter of time before Mr. Gunn signs his Project Runway contract. Also, the show could start sooner if they decided on a venue other than Parson’s as they may not have to wait for the school year to end. I’m sure more information will be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks. Congratulations Tim!!! (Thanks to Bravotv.com for the pic)

I’m probably the last to jump on this bandwagon, but I watched the show “Bones” last night, and was completely sucked in! I loved it! I have always had an interest in forensics and crime, yet I have never gotten into any of the shows that showcase these topics. Plus, it’s normally on when America’s Next Top Model is on so you can see my dilemma. Anyway, not only does it star David Boreanaz (who had a great run on another show I didn’t start watching until it was in reruns, Buffy the Vampire Slayer), but the storyline kept me intrigued, yet unsure of what was to come for the entire episode. I might have to see what I can do to get into it a little more, as there were backstories/relationships that I didn’t know anything about. If J. weren’t so tired I think he might have slapped me upside the head, as I asked TONS of questions. My point is, I highly recommend Bones.

To round out my TV news (it is Thursday after all) Ed Helms (Andy Bernard) has been promoted to a regular on The Office. Rashida Jones (Karen Fillipelli) is still recurring. What does this say about the Pam-Jim-Karen triangle? Well, you all know what I’m hoping, but apparently Karen will confront Pam on the subject on tonight’s episode. If you’re looking, here are some previews of tonight’s episode.

Once again, I cooked last night. I’ve realized I can get J. to do just about anything if there’s food involved. Case in point: He worked at 3 am yesterday and had to work at 3 am again today. If that were me, would I feel like driving a half hour farther from work on little to no sleep? No, I wouldn’t. However, when I mentioned that I was making dinner and he wouldn’t have to buy anything, he was at my house in 45 minutes. Makes me wish I’d learned how to cook earlier in my life, as a man’s heart really may be through his stomach! Anyway, I made these Crusty Ham and Cheese sandwiches, which were quite good. So much so, that I have one for dinner tonight! I think they were a little on the small side for J., but luckily fatigue pulled through before he realized he was still hungry. I also made these Frozen Peanut Butter Bites. They taste so good and you get a lot for only one point. Even my sister liked them, which is usually not the case when it comes to Weight Watchers type of food.

My friend Justin has been bugging me regarding an Adult Spelling Bee at Bombers Burrito Bar on February 11th. Justin and I were in spelling bee against each other in fifth grade. We both got beat by the most annoying (and ridiculously smart) third grader. At least we weren’t the oldest kids in the spelling bee cause I doubt I’d ever live that down. Anyway, I misspelled curriculum on my first shot and I don’t think I’ve ever recovered (nor will I ever misspell it again). He wants me to compete, but I told him I’d go there to support and cheer him on. My sister also thinks I should enter but I don’t know. I’m a relatively good speller but it’s kind of like how I would be on reality TV: I just don’t want to be the first one booted. I have another week or so to decide, but I think I’ll stick with being the cheering section. I did just find out that it was a $300 first prize. So yeah, I might enter.
