Disturbing Celebrity Couple News
And the dread sets in....
Bowling was good. It went by pretty quickly and only one game was insanely terrible. The other 2 almost made up for it. Friday night I was in bed before the Cardinals won the World Series. It was that non-interesting. However, congratulations to the Cardinals on their win and on being the lowest rated World Series ever. I'm pretty disappointed in the Tigers in all honesty. I thought they'd at least give the Cards a run for their money. Apparently, I thought wrong.
We were supposed to attempt Monday Night Football at Meadowgreens again tonight but Tre is coming down with something so she bailed. I think tomorrow will be a pretty late work night for me so I don't mind having a night of doing little to nothing. That reminds me that I need to charge my camera for our little Halloween festivities that are going on here tomorrow. Yep, I have to wear my costume to work. They get REAL into Halloween in my office. We have a luncheon and everything. Even the nasty attorney I hate (ok, the woman, not the man) gets all sorts of dressed up. I hope she remembers to bring clothes cause I'd hate to see her still in her costume at 8:00 tomorrow night. I already have my bags packed in case it's wicked late. Then I can just crash at J's instead of driving all the way home. Speaking of J., he made me watch The Evil Dead on Saturday night. I'm not real good with horror movies and i crashed out for the first part, but then was wide awake for the last 45 minutes to an hour.. By myself as he had crashed too. Not good.. the movie or me being the only one awake for it. It's a pretty terrible movie, but I'm sure that's the allure of it. Didn't keep me from having trouble sleeping though. No wonder he never wants to watch scary movies with me.

What a long day....
I had the house to myself last night so after wings at the Moosehead for the first time in forever (they were awesome, as were the Moosefries), J. came over and we watched part of Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments countdown. I jumped, I'm not gonna lie. Anyway, he is way into the overtime at work this week so he didn't have to go in until 6 (it's usually 4). So, when his alarm went off at 5, I was pretty much up for the duration. I know no sleep happened in the 25 minutes between the time he left and the time my alarm went off, as I went in early today for said closing. So.. I'm pretty beat and I still have bowling to contend with tonight.
As I told you, my cousin Chrissy and I went to see Employee of the Month on Wednesday night. I really don't know why I don't go to the Crandell more, because to get in and get a large popcorn and soda, it cost me $8.00. $8.00!!!!! It costs more than that to get into the movies in places up near Albany! There are advantages to living in "deliverance country." Anyway, the movie was funny. Pretty entertaining and I didn't even hate Jessica Simpson, which I think is pretty impressive. I'm usually not a fan of Andy Dick but he stole most of the scenes he was in. Dax Shepard (of early Punk'd fame) played the Head Cashier at a BJ's kind of warehouse and Dane Cook is a lowly boxboy. Jessica played this girl named Amy who apparently ONLY likes the Employee of the Month, which Dax has been for the last 17 months. Anyway, I don't know about you, but it's pretty much a no-brainer (looks wise) between Dax Shepard and Dane Cook. Maybe it's the bleach blonde hair and brown eyebrows, but that's so not for me. Give me Dane in all his slacker glory any day. So yeah... nice, mindless entertainment. If you like Dane Cook, I say give it a shot.
The Detroit Tigers need to win one tonight or it's over! I really thought it'd be a better series than this. I mean, the Tigers DOMINATED through the ALCS so I'm a little surprised that they really haven't brought anything to the table. It ain't over till it's over, so give us some good TV, Detroit!
TGIF Mo-Fo's. Have a great weekend and make sure you keep those umbrellas handy for my East Coast buddies!!!
Just wanted to give you a little something something in picture form to get you through the weekend. Have a great one!

It's been a very busy day at work
Like they pay me enough to care (that should go over well when i wear it to work on Tuesday)
Stressed is Desserts spelled backwards
A rainbow with fluffy clouds (seemed very Brownie-like to me)
Fear of Vegetables - Lachonophobia
You Say I'm a Bitch Like It's a Bad Thing
I think they'll be a good start. Maybe I'll try to find some patches or something this weekend at Wal-Mart. Oh god, did I just say I'd go to Wal-Mart? On the weekend? I'd go to Target but I'll walk out with 800 things I don't need so maybe I should sift through the white trash, swallow my pride, and hit up Wally World on Saturday. Or maybe not. Guess you'll have to wait and see!
The time has come, the walrus said and in this case he said it to Jerry Springer. He FINALLY got booted from Dancing with the Stars. I didn't see the show and didn't really need to, as it was his time and has been his time for quite some time. Monique Coleman was also in the bottom two and I think it's gonna be her turn next week. She's the only girl left and the least recognizable of all the contestants. It's finally a competition! I'm going to have to start watching again. Damned America's Next Top Model has dragged me away from my beloved Dancing with the Stars!! I know who got booted and I'm disappointed, but I haven't watched the episode so I'm not going to talk about it until/unless I feel her departure wasn't deserved.
I started watching Top Chef last night, mainly because I'm so used to turning on Bravo on Wednesdays at 10. It wasn't bad. The bitchery and backstabbing was pretty intense and it's only the second episode! My problem with the show is that i'm not into food. Ok, I'm not into good food and/or culinary masterpieces so the food doesn't do anything for me. However, it is kind of interesting to see what they can do, coming from such different backgrounds. I think I'll give it another shot if only because I want to see Marisa get booted out on her so called "sexy" ass! I was hoping someone would stab her with her own knife set but alas, no one dared.
My aforementioned friend Lacey put in her two weeks notice yesterday. As if I wasn't miserable enough here as it is, she's leaving me. I'm not bitter but I'm getting a little concerned that there was hardly any turnover before I got here, now all of a sudden three people have left in six months. If it keeps going this way I'm going to get a complex. Maybe that's the world's way of telling me this is NOT the place for me! ha ha
Finally, here's one for all the Earl fans. Have a great night! I'm planning on some Moosehead wings and a couple beers because it looks like staying late isn't going to happen. Now that is what I call a good end to the day. Have a good one!

Some little, yet slightly important things
As an American Idol fan (not from the beginning) I thought this was a pretty funny quiz. See how you do. I wonder who does better - avid porn watchers, or American Idol Superfans. I wouldn't mind seeing Chris Daughtry in either way, but this just gave me an excuse to post yet another photo of him. Thank you Details Magazine!
Bravo has renewed Work Out for another six episode season. I didn't want to like this show, or Jackie, but damned if the whole thing wasn't the best train wreck I've ever seen. Bravo hasn't let on who will or will not come back, but who doesn't want to know if Jackie really cut the cord from domineering head case Mimi? I know I do!!!!
Finally, the St. Louis Cardinals took a 2-1 lead over the Detroit Tigers in the World Series on their home turf with a final score of 5-0. Series continues tonight with Jeremy Bonderman throwing for the Tigers and Jeff Suppan taking the hill for the Cardinals. Game starts at 8 pm so DVR America's Next Top Model and watch some baseball!
Tonight my cousin Chrissy and I are headed to the movies to see Employee of the Month. God knows I'm not a fan of Jessica Simpson's acting, but Dane Cook is a relatively funny guy and that is the only reason we're seeing it. I've had some friends say it's absolutely hysterical so we'll see if it lives up to the hype. I would have seen it sooner but it never came anywhere near Hudson until now. Great thing is that it's at the Crandell which is the cheapest movie theater around. Popcorn for dinner. Yee Ha!

Another way to make work go by
I know I didn' t like Fergie's "London Bridge" song when it first came out, but it grew on me. However, I can't say the same for "Fergalicious." I am just flat out refusing to like it. That'd be like me say I'm "nytrolicious." WHAT IS THAT? Seriously, you can't just make up a word and be it. Didn't they teach her that on Kids Incorporated or was it all illicit drugs and orgies with Martika? Oh wait.. it probably was.
MILESTONE
Anyway, I learned something about myself today: I’m addicted to post-it notes. If there were a post-it note rehab, I’d be there. As I look around my desk I realize that I have about a million post-it notes peppering my desk to within an inch of its life, which makes it even more amazing that someone hasn’t alerted me to this problem earlier. I have the phone number for Tivo customer service on one, my grocery shopping list on another. Keep looking and you’ll see a list of books I want to read and some passwords for my work computer (way to keep those hidden from sight, Kara). EVERYTHING is on a post-it. Maybe it wouldn’t be quite as obvious if I got the colored kind. That’s a step in the right direction, right?
Note to self (and others): When you see the commercial for KFC Bowls, they LOOK like a great, hearty meal. Yes, they taste good going down, I will not deny this. However, approximately 15 minutes after ingestion you will think your body has been infiltrated by the monster from Alien (which I saw for the first time just two or so years ago). Therefore, I only recommend eating one if you have a lot of time on your hands post-meal. And a good book to read.

Party Pictures
This next picture is of the bunch of us that dressed up. There were pirates, kings and queens and even an old lady with a cane!
This is a picture of some of the girls at the softball team party on Saturday. Great food and an awesome time as always!
One of the many things that irk me
Kara: Hey "so and so."
So and So: Hi Kara, how are you?
Kara: I'm doing good, how are you?
So and So:
I asked you a question. Granted, I really don't give a shit about the answer, but you could at least say "I'm fine, thanks." THAT is the way the conversation is supposed to go, not as it's listed above. That's your lesson in etiquette for today. Live it, learn it, love it.
Snippets
It's late in the day on this gloomy, gloomy Monday and I'm excited to know that I can go straight home after work. The closing that got postponed last week was supposed to go off tomorrow, which meant a LONG Monday night at work for me. I even bought my overnight bag inside because it had sneakers in it and I figured I'd need it (not because I thought I'd have to sleep at work.. that would be awkward). However, it got pushed back until at least next Wednesday or Thursday so normal working hours are in order. I still have barely spoken to "attorney who made me cry," but I got the information he needs so I should just suck it up and bring it to him. Instead I'm going to hope he leaves before me and then throw it on his chair.. right on top of the whoopie cushion I put there first. (That's not true.. I dont' even own a whoopie cushion - does anyone besides clowns own one these days?)
J. and I went to see The Prestige last night. It's directed by Christopher Nolan of Memento and Batman Begins fame (two movies I really enjoyed) so I was pretty sure I'd like it. I did, but I got a tad confused at the end which is so unlike me. I think my weekend had caught up to me. J. saw the ending coming from a mile away but I was still floored by it. So, really good movie. I recommend it. Chrissy and I plan on seeing Employee of the Month on Wednesday night. She and I really like Dane Cook and will try to forget that Jessica Simpson is in the movie to check it out. I hadn't heard much from reviewers but I had some friends who saw it and said it was absolutely hysterical so I'll keep you posted on that one.
Time to fake some work... more to come later!

Frustration, thy name is Blogger
So, today is the day we celebrate the birth of John Krasinski, who is not only my favorite Polack, but also Jim Halpert on The Office. I didn't get to watch last night's episode yet but I can only imagine that he was looking quite normal guy handsome as always. Anyway, apparently he was born in 1979, which makes him three years younger than me. Guess it's a good thing I'm in my "younger man" phase. Happy Birthday John! Party like it's 1979 my man.
In other great news, there is going to be a movie version of Fraggle Rock. Just last night J. and I were discussing Animalympics and other such great 80's things done by HBO, but little did I know that this was on the horizon!! AND Ahmet Zappa is involved? Even after the hellish week I"ve had, this could make it all go away... Until Monday.
Tonight is my friend Bob's surprise 34th birthday party. Yep, I said 34. With everyone turning 30 this year Bob got a little bitter that everyone was getting parties thrown for them. He has a new girlfriend who fell for it, therefore is throwing him a surprise party, costumes optional. I think he'll be pretty shocked since who gets a surprise 34th birthday party? I will be busting out the Brownie outfit and hopefully pictures will be up on Sunday or Monday. Saturday is the Softball Team Party at Jackson's and I'm sure some of those picture will not be fit for the blog which can only mean a good time is to be had by all.
Enjoy your weekend kids!
Separated at Birth?
As I watched Carlos Beltran choke in the 9th inning last night (watching a beautiful pitch go by to strike out with bases loaded, down by 2) I thought... "wow.. he looks so familiar." I figured it out. The man on top is Carlos Beltran (just in case the Mets background didn't give it away). The man on the bottom (well, I hope he's on the bottom. Blogger has been screwing with me all morning and all I wanted to do was post my thoughts on this issue) is Daniel Sunjata of Rescue Me and The Devil Wears Prada. Am I the only one who sees the similarity? I had to get that off my chest. More to come later. Happy Friday!

Apparently it's good to be bad
The world has come to an end and the evil villain has once again, won out. Jeffrey Sebelia (or as the PRGay Boys like to call him - Angry Little Peanut) has won Project Runway. Will wonders never cease? All the scandal and drama came to a head on last night’s show where Tim Gunn exonerated Jeffrey of (most) wrongdoing and he was allowed to compete at Bryant Park. Just a few things I’d like to point out:
1. Tim Gunn made me teary. When he stood there like a proud papa, voice cracks and all, at their last “gather ‘round,” I wanted to cry. I adore him and that is why he, and not Jeffrey, is pictured on this blog. Long Live Tim Gunn!
2. Isn’t it interesting that Jeffrey “just happened” to have another pair of leather pants with him? I don’t recall seeing any alterations done on those bad boys either.
3. Also, wasn’t it funny that he made a denim skirt “just in case” he couldn’t use the leather shorts? I mean, how could he have known they’d make him take those shorts out of the show? Obviously something was fishy with them and he was well aware of it.
I don’t consider myself a fashionista, but I think I have a slight sense of style. I don’t wear brown shoes with black pants (it’s a necessity in my Halloween costume, but that doesn’t really count) and I shun leggings. However, I thought pretty much everything in Uli’s collection could be worn by a normal woman, and they could feel beautiful in it. I admit, the clothes looked different walking down the runway than in pictures. I really liked Jeffrey’s collection in pictures, but not so much on the runway. Did he hire models based on the fact that they couldn’t walk? Cause some of those girls were heinous!!! But anyway, I adore Michael but his collection was just kinda…. whorish. As Heidi said - he needs some time to mature and he WILL have a place in fashion. Hell, now that he’s with Brandi he can dress her to the nines wherever she goes! I’m sure that will work out for him. Laura’s collection was beautiful and very Laura. However, it didn’t surprise you. There was no one piece where you were like “wow, I had no idea she had that in her,” and I think that’s what the judges were looking for. It was definitely a tough decision between Uli and Jeffrey. As much as he’s angered me all season, he is talented. Only thing is, I wish they had given it to Uli only because Jeffrey already has a career and is pretty much established. I would think this show would be to help those who need it. Not for those who have already started doing their thing. I’m curious to see what Jeffrey can do in the future and I do admit, I loved the dress he put on his model, Marilinda. It was pretty interesting and looked gorgeous on her. However, he might want to stick to the rock and roll jackets and pants and such, cause a few of those girls with empire waists were looking a little (to quote Tim Gunn regarding Allison’s plus size model) “zaftig.” Regardless, it was a great season and congratulations to Jeffrey. Put that in your pipe and smoke it Angela!
Now what am I to do with my Wednesday at 10 time slot? Perhaps I’ll give it to Top Chef. As we all know, I’m far from culinary… or domestic… Maybe I’ll learn something. I do have to give it a shot though, because I made my blogging buddy Rob get into Project Runway (he hated Jeffrey so he probably is none too happy with me right now) and it’s his turn to return the favor with Top Chef. If I know Bravo (and I’m pretty sure I do) the first episode will be on all weekend so I’ll try to catch it.
As we’ve discussed quite frequently (ok, I’ve written, you’ve read.. whatever) I loathe my job. Well, today that was solidified when one of the attorneys (and not the heinous bitch everyone thought it would be) made me cry. Granted, I’m a relatively emotional person so crying is something I do. But I do NOT do it at work! So, I was asked to get some information but in doing so, realized it couldn’t be done the way this attorney wanted it to. I told him that and everything seemed fine. So, I got the information and was asked how I wanted it transmitted. Assuming it would be a plethora of info, I thought it’d be best to ask his advice. Wrong idea. He basically berated me for getting the info that way (when that was the only way to get said information) and wasn’t listening to a word I said. I don’t claim to be good at my job right now, but I am pretty good at taking orders and doing what people tell me, which is what I thought I did. So, he leaves and I go to bring a file into another room and once the other paralegal starts talking to me, it’s over. I’m crying like a 6 year old that skinned her knee falling off her bike. It’s that crazy oh-god-I’m-going-to-hyperventilate crying too. I know what that’s like because I did it in 6th grade when I was given lunch detention in Technology Class. Apparently, hyperventilation is a “get out of lunch detention” card. Regardless, I did not cry in front of said attorney, but I still feel like an ass and in all honesty, I really want to punch him because he made me feel like an ass and incompetent when I’m neither. So, I decided to stop working (since I can’t concentrate anyway and really have nothing to do) and write this blog to make myself feel better.
Hmmm… not much left to go with here. I’ve detailed my insanely embarrassing day and already touched upon America’s Next Top Model and Dancing with the Stars so what’s left? Oh yeah… BASEBALL! Tonight is the deciding game in the NLCS and the World Series starts on Saturday. The Mets tied it all up last night and will hopefully win it tonight. What can I say? I’m still bitter about 1969 but I like the Mets. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t mind a little more staring at Albert Pujols and Eckstein (and I’m not normally a fan of the blondes) and it would certainly make it easier for me to choose who to root for, but I’m hoping the Mets pull this one out tonight. Regardless, I’m hoping for a good series because if I recall correctly, the last few have been slightly anticlimactic. So, what the hell - Let’s Go Mets!
I’m going to crawl under my desk in the fetal position and pray this day ends real soon so have a great one and I’ll catch ya on the flip side tomorrow. Payday Friday! Life is good.

Sometimes a mind is a good thing to change
On to the most important thing: PROJECT RUNWAY! The second part of the finale airs at 10 p.m. and I’m anxiously awaiting its arrival. I hate to predict who will win, because I don’t think it’s fair. I mean, we’ve already seen picture of their collections so it’s kind of an unfair advantage. I admit, I liked Jeffrey’s collection. Do I want to admit that? Absolutely not. But, I can’t really pick him because I don’t even know if he’s REALLY still in the running. The editing on this week’s clips make it look like he’s not there, but those kids at Bravo sure are sneaky! I adore Michael and really wish he’d win, but I don’t think his collection was that great. Laura and Uli both kind of did their thing that we’re used to seeing and I don’t know if they’ll be rewarded for that. I guess what I’m saying is that it’s anyone’s game and I’ll be as surprised as the next guy over whoever wins. Last year I wanted Daniel to win, but I liked Santino’s collection the best. However, he also thought outside of the box but was not rewarded for doing so. You just never know where the judges will go so I’m not going to make a prediction. Is that fair? Not really. But I’m pretty much happy with whoever wins (as long as it’s not Jeffrey). I mean, Santino at least had his Tim Gunn impressions to fall back on. Jeffrey’s got nothing!
So let me tell you what happened to me this morning: At 1:45 am, J’s cell phone rang. He jumped out of bed to answer it but then just turned off the ringer without answering the call. I asked him who it was and he said “someone I don’t want to talk to.” Um yeah, that wasn’t an answer. So, the voicemail alarm goes off and I said “if someone’s calling me at 1:45 am on a Tuesday, I’d probably want to know why (hint hint).” His response was “it’s a drunk dial” and he subsequently went to bed. It never ceases to amaze me how easily and quickly men can fall asleep. He left for work around 3:30 and around 4 am I fell into the toilet (he left the seat up). As I dried off, I couldn’t stop thinking about how it was kind of shady that he wouldn’t tell me who was on the phone. I texted him later to let him know I thought it was shady. I’m not really the suspicious type to go through his cell phone while he’s in the shower, ya know? I figure, just ask. So, he called me as soon as he got out of work and we discussed it. He told me who it was and didn’t even realize he was being shady. It was pretty late and he was very shocked that the phone even rang. So, we’re still giving him the benefit of the doubt on that one. I trust him 100% so that was never an issue. I just wanted an explanation. I’m a girl. Curiosity is our thing. I was afraid he’d be upset, thinking I don’t trust him, but he hasn’t mentioned it so I think it’s all good. He’s even going to get me an oil change on Friday. Boyfriends can be a pretty good thing to have. I hate getting my oil changed because I always end up paying way more than I need to because I know nothing about cars. Now all I have to do is hand over a check. I like it that way.
Ok, it’s kick off time on America’s Next Top Model AND Dancing with the Stars. Bottom two on DWTS are Joey and Jerry. Bottom two on ANTM are Jaeda and AJ. Now, I’m particular to AJ, and I think Jaeda should go because she’s been in the bottom two a couple times already. AJ has done some great pictures and she deserves a second chance. Let’s see what the judges decide:
It’s AJ – she’s gone!? I don’t f’n believe it. Damn you Tyra! Damn you! To quote my friend Tim Burger “it’s racial.” (You might not find that funny but if you knew the hand signal that goes with it, it’d knock your socks off). NO ONE got booted from Dancing with the Stars thanks to Sara Evans. Thank god I have Project Runway to look forward to. My thoughts on that to come on Thursday!

With all those people on earth do i really need to spawn?
Ouch.. good point.. J. and I went to Denny's for dinner Sunday night and this little kid was going to sit behind me but they moved. So as he noisily stomped away I said "yep.. can't wait to have 12 of those." He looked at me and was like.. “please, you don't even want ONE of those!”
Which really isn't true.. I mean... right now I don't.. but eventually I'll probably succumb to the grandparent pressure and infiltrate society with my genetically blessed DNA.
What can I say? My biological clock is so not ticking. Matter of fact, I’m pretty sure it’s on snooze. Maybe I’m selfish, but I like being able to do what I want, when I want to do it and not feel bad about it! Plus, I know I’d be one of those girls who’s like “I’m eating for two,” and I’ll have to go on The Biggest Loser to get my baby weight off. I just don’t have the time for that right now. Maybe by the time I’m 35 I’ll feel differently. Plus, I’m not sure the world can handle another me right now. There are nuclear weapons in North Korea for Christ’s sake!! (right? that’s what’s going on in the world? Cause I don’t watch the news - WAY too depressing.)
So, I’m not sure how I’m walking today, but it’s not normal. I tried to find a picture of the shoes I’m wearing online, but couldn’t do so. I’ll try to describe as best as I can. They’re frickin’ adorable! They’re black, BCBG shoes with little buckles on them and a relatively low kitten heel. They are probably the lowest heeled shoe I own so they should be much easier to walk in. However, when I tried on the shoes at DSW, the 7’s seemed a tiny bit tight so I got the 7.5’s. Big mistake. Big. HUGE (what movie kids?). Anyway, I love them and I don’t have the receipt anymore nor did I even see them at the store last night (where I bought adorable sneakers - Infusion by Skechers) so I stuffed them with tissue when I got to work. Four tissues per shoe. I think three would have been enough, but I went with four anyway. So, I’ve spent the day trying to walk like a normal person but alas, it hasn’t gone well. I have learned my lesson but you can bet your sweet bippy that I will stuff my shoes the next time I wear them, because I WILL wear them again. I am a slave to fashion… and cute shoes.
As I told you yesterday, my Ipod is on its last legs… which I think were just broken. It played just fine in my alarm clock today, and that might be its primary purpose until I can get a new one. I tried to use it at work and it wasn’t having it. So, I logged onto XMradio.com where I can listen to some of their stations for free. Normally I listen to Top 20 on 20 but (much like FLY 92) it’s the same 20 songs over and over again. So, today I decided I would listen to Lucy, which is like a new wave, alternative station. I haven’t once wanted to change the station. Ok, maybe when the White Stripes were on, but other than that it was all of my favorites. For example, the first five songs I heard were Wonderwall by Oasis, Never Let You Go by Third Eye Blind, Just a Girl by No Doubt, Pictures of You by The Cure and Punk Rock Girl by The Dead Milkmen. Not a bad combination of songs if I may say so. I guess I’ll try to suffer through. A friend of mine sent me a link to an MP3 player for $20 so that might be good enough to hold me over until Santa comes and puts an ipod in my stocking!
Well, I was unsuccessful at finding pictures to put up today since everything I tried to find wasn’t working for me. Therefore, enjoy the rest of your Tuesday and prepare yourself for Sarah Evans’ statement on Dancing with the Stars. Apparently she’s not even mentioning the husband. Um.. yeah.. everyone knows your husband’s a FREAK!!! Might as well just face it head on. Will tonight be the triumphant return of Willa Ford? We’ll all have to tune in and see.

Weekend Roundup
I found out on Friday night that my friend Lynn (whose wedding I was in back in July) is pregnant. I’m not drinking the water around here as it seems I’ll get pregnant. SO not what I’m interested in at this point in my life (and maybe never! I’m not exactly a kid person. If I hold a kid any closer than arm’s length, my friends start to think I’m not feeling well. I mean, I don’t hold a kid until I’m pretty sure that if I drop it, it’ll bounce Regardless, congratulations to Lynn and Michael on the impending birth of their first child! Also got some more details on my friend Crystal’s baby: His full name is Benjamin James Gniadek and he weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz. and 19 ¾ inches. Apparently he has blue eyes, dark hair and (according to his proud father) one hell of a set of balls. Men are so easy to impress sometimes! Again, congratulations to Crystal and Jamie!
The Detroit Tigers swept the Oakland A’s to make it to the World Series. Now if only it cold stop raining long enough for someone to win the NLCS, we’d have ourselves some good October baseball! Granted, the Mets/Cardinals series has been pretty good, not counting last night’s game of course!
I left my post-it note of topics at work so this post isn’t quite what I had originally thought. I got distracted today because after less than an hour, my Ipod decided it no longer wanted to work. It’s been sounding pretty nasty as of late, but I was giving it the benefit of the doubt. So, after work I stopped at the mall to go to the Apple store and to try and find a dark brown skirt to wear for my Halloween costume. I did find one at the Gap, but I also received my sash and beanie in the mail today which are kind of off in color from the skirt. I’ve decided that I don’t care because I’m not going to the mall again. It’s Halloween. It doesn’t have to be perfect! Oh yeah.. the Ipod. So, I bring it to the store and Matt waits on me. Matt is a self-righteous, geeky douchebag. I told him the deal and he said my battery had run down. Um YEAH, after it froze up on me I’m sure it did use all the battery life (which I never seem to have that much of in the first place) but that was not the original problem. He then listened to it and said that he was pretty sure my hard drive was finished. Great. So basically, my Ipod has shit the bed. He then plugs it in and it starts to work. Just before I leave he tells me that it works and blah blah blah, until finally he ends it with, yeah, it’s on its last legs. Well, thanks MATT, thanks for helping me out! So now I’m pissed.. not just at Matt for being a douchebag, but at my Ipod for not being able to handle it’s job. So, if anyone wants to buy me a Christmas present, a new Ipod will do… or advice on ipods, nanos, etc. would work too.
As I mentioned before, I've been watching the first season of Rescue Me from Netflix. I'm pretty upset that I didn't get into it when it first began because I've found myself constantly laughing my ass off. I just started watching this season so it's a little confusing at times, but it's also answering some questions that I never really knew I had. If you have a chance, catch up on this show before the fourth season begins. I don't think that will be until the summer so you have plenty of time to take my advice. I'll accept your thank you's in advance
Anyway, good news is that the closing I was supposed to have this week has been pushed back to next week. It’s good news now, but I’ll probably be singing a different tune this time next week. I’m watching Heroes and it’s one of those shows you really need to concentrate on so I’m gonna get a move on. Enjoy your night or day (whatever the case may be)!

Freaky things are apt to happen
Onto bigger and better things: The New York Mets beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Playoffs last night, behind a stellar performance from Tom Glavine (once coached by Leo Mazzone, just to throw in my O’s - I mean, this IS a blog about the Orioles too ya know). I don’t normally watch the NL series because I’m a big AL fan. Even though my team sucks I know more about the AL teams so I normally root for them in the World Series (unless it’s Boston) but considering I’m from New York and I’ve always had a soft spot for the Mets, I might have to cheer for them when they make it through. I mean, if they don’t make it through I’ll be shocked! They’re a great offensive and defensive team and have proved that all season. Plus, David Wright is pretty easy on the eyes. As a girl, that always helps. Don’t get me wrong, he’s no B-Rob or Nick Markakis, but I wouldn’t kick him out of my bed for eating veggies! Speaking of the AL - Detroit is up 2 games to 0 on the Oakland A’s. I have caught both games but I really just like listening to the announcers say “Placido Polanco.” Has a nice ring, doesn’t it? No, really. I adore my baseball and understand it, but it’s hard to watch when your team isn’t in it (right, Yankee fans?). Plus, I have yet to see Tommy Lasorda have a commercial with the O’s in it. I’ve seen the Boston one (which is hysterical) and the Indians, but no O’s. Bring it on Tommy!
In pseudo celebrity gossip, apparently the hottest new couple is Brandy (of Moesha and America’s Got Talent fame) and Michael Knight - everyone’s favorite designer from this season of Project Runway. I mean, how cute are they? Apparently they met through a mutual friend and have been dating ever since. She even sat front row at this runway show in Bryant Park. I think Brandy’s looking for some free clothes, that’s what I think. But hey.. best of luck to these two lovebirds!!
So, I’m thinking of taking a trip to Ireland. My friend Rachael has been living there for six months and has been up my ass from the get go about making a trip over. Now, I’m still paying off my plane ticket to Australia and that was two years ago so I wasn’t really jumping at the chance to pay for another international plane ticket. However, our mutual friend Crystal (who introduced us in the first place) has discussed coming over there in April and Rach thought it’d be a great time for me to come to. It’d be nice to go over with someone. I mean, traveling alone has its perks but sometimes it’s good to have someone else to talk to besides the nice old lady in the aisle seat. Plus, I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland and with her being there, it’s an opportunity I can’t pass up! Apparently, the boys are pretty giving with the fun and drinks so that’s even less things I have to pay for. I mean, if I spend that money on boob shirts I doubt I’ll have to pay for anything while we’re out! What can I say? If you have them, you should use them for good, not evil… unless they really deserve it! So, I bought the subject up to my mom and she was way more gung ho than I thought she would be. She even went online to look up flights for me and Crystal. So, hopefully I’ll be heading to Ireland for a week in April to help Rach celebrate her birthday. I was kind of unsure about it but this opportunity will probably never come up again so I don’t see the point in wasting it. Speaking of Crystal - congratulations to Crystal and her husband Jamie on the birth of their son, Ben. She had him this afternoon by C-section so we’ll give her a little bit more time before we broach the Ireland subject.. ya know.. a few weeks! Anyway, now Emma has a baby brother. God save that child! Hopefully I’ll get some pictures in a few weeks so I’ll post one up here for all the world to see.
To add to the randomness of my life lately, this is what happened to me today: I got a text message on my phone that says “hey kara.” Pretty ordinary, right? Not quite. The phone number it’s from is 011-393-401278778. Swear to God. I even tried to find out if 393 was a country code but I got sick of looking for it. So, if you texted me from out of the country (I’ve called overseas enough to know that 11 is the code that gets you out of the country), let me know cause it’s just another day of me wracking my brains. I was going to text it back but I can only imagine what the charge for that would be, then I was afraid that it was just some sort of scam where they can steal my cell phone number and I’d get all these wacky charges thanks to my curiosity. So, if you can help me, I’d appreciate it!
Hope you enjoyed your Friday and I hope you enjoy this little comic that Lacey sent to me. Have a great weekend!

I don't know where to begin...
Cory Lidle, huh? Who saw that coming? I blame the Yankees. I mean, if they played the way they are capable of doing they would still be in the playoffs and Cory wouldn’t have decided to try to traverse the craziest air space in the United States. Seriously, who’s dunderheaded idea was that? Regardless, it’s an awful tragedy not only for the Yankees, but for baseball in general and my thoughts go out to all those involved. At least they still have Joe Torre. I mean, two tragedies in one week is really more than those fans can handle. I’m still confused on what the deal is with that because I heard he got a pilot’s license in ’03, but the guy with him was a flight instructor (at least that’s the rumor I heard). Guess it’ll be a matter of time before the whole story comes out, black box and all.
Remember our old friends, man and dog? Apparently there have been quite a few sightings of man, but not dog. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen man without dog, so I’m very worried about dog. He was (is) so cute and I’d hate to think something happened to him. I’ll keep you posted on their status.
For those of you who read my “movie music moments” post last week, I thought you might find this interesting. I think one of my top five made it on and I’ll take pride in that. It’s actually a pretty cool list; fun to peruse and remember those moments yourself. I’m not sure I agree with some but I think if a song was written specifically for that movie, it wasn’t eligible. I don’t want anyone freaking out cause “My Heart Will Go On” didn’t crack the top 10. God, I loathe Titanic.. and Leonardo DiCaprio. Thank god Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg are in The Departed or I don’t know if I’d be able to bring myself to see it. I mean, Nicholson and DiCaprio? Not quite the threesome I was hoping for!
In conclusion, this is the randomness that happened to me yesterday: Lacey (my co-worker and friend) and I were outside of our building because she needed a smoke break and I’m taking advantage of that. I don’t see why I get penalized by not getting a break just because I care about my health by not smoking. I could go on for days, but anyway… So, this guy walks out of the parking garage and stares at us. He then stops dead in his tracks, continues to stare, then walks away. Very weird. I think my reaction was to look at Lacey and say “what the fuck?” I had left my cell phone in my car (on) so I went into the garage after lunch to get it and realized I had a voicemail. This is the voicemail verbatim: “Hey, you or your twin sister wouldn’t be standing in downtown Albany right now, would ya?” Do I recognize the phone number? NO… the voice? NO, but it sounds a lot like J.’s so I call him first. He says no, it’s not him (which I was pretty happy about cause it’d be really sketchy if he couldn’t tell the difference between his girlfriend and her twin sister) and then told me to call the number. I hate doing that. It irks me when I accidentally misdial and people call me back to see what I wanted. If I wanted something from you, I would have left a god damn message. I texted to the number, but got nothing. About 15 minutes later my curiosity got the best of me and I dialed. The phone rang about four times and I was anticipating voice mail so I could just figure out who it was and be on my way, but mystery guy answered. I was “that girl” and said “who’s this?” He responded with “who’s this?” I realized I was being kinda sketchy so I said “Kara” and he said “It’s Jeremy.” Jeremy is a guy I dated a bit in the last year or so that I met on Match.com. It never really went anywhere but we talk occasionally. I doubt I’ve talked to him in three months or so. Come to find out, he’s crazy staring guy from the parking garage and I didn’t even recognize him. Apparently he got a job two months ago on N. Pearl and parks in my parking garage every day. Our schedules are completely different so our paths have never crossed, but he had a doctor’s appointment yesterday and that is when he saw me enjoying (somewhat) fresh air outside my building. I mean, come on. How f’n weird and random is that? I’m assuming I didn’t recognize him cause I never expected to see him there, but it’s just crazy. Funny thing is, I saw a guy I went to college with (we played rugby together) in my parking garage just a few weeks ago. I think I’m going to start parking on the street.

Finally - Skydiving Pictures!
Nikki, Tre and Sarah -
Sarah was the only one left to go when this was taken.
Nikki was happy to be on the ground
So was Tre
The end of a VERY long day
It took a while, but the pictures finally decided to download! I hope everyone enjoys them. I know we had a lot of fun while taking them, that's for sure!
Nothing real big to tell you today. Heroes was good last night. I'm really liking that show, although sometimes I have trouble following and/or where the plot is going. I think that's what makes me tune in every week for that same reason. I guess that's the benchmark of a good show, am I right?
Everyone is pretty much killing it with the latin dances on Dancing with the Stars. Well, everyone except Springer. He'll probably make it to the end for entertainment value only. I'm not saying that's a good thing because I don't think it is, but it once again proves my "fan base" point about this show. Doesn't make me love it any less though.
In case I forgot to mention it, the DVR is now operable and I've caught up on Project Runway (the reunion show) and America's Next Top Model. To sum it up: Keith is a pompous ass and needs to get over the fact that (no matter how talented, because he is) his 15 minutes are up and you don't fuck with Heidi Klum or Tim Gunn. You just don't. They will blackball your bitchy ass right out of the fashion industry. Speaking of fashion industry, someone who'll never get hired is Monique, who got booted from ANTM last week. The bitch rubbed her dirty panties on Melrose's bed! I mean, what kind of skank is that? I mean, Melrose isn't my favorite contesant but that's just repulsive. I don't think I'd wish that on Jade from last season and that was another crazy bitch.
Anyway, I have this lump thing on the back of my neck that I literally just felt so now I have to freak out about it and tell my mom. Yep, I'm that girl. Have a good night!

Nothing says peaceful like jumping out of a plane
Saturday was pretty boring. I spent most of it cleaning and had resigned myself to the couch to do some work (I know, I’m CRAZY on the weekends) when J. called again. He’s on a roll this weekend, that’s for damn sure! Anyway, we just went to dinner and watched the Mets game before we both crashed on the couch. Yep, we’re the most interesting couple in the world. It worked out well though because I had to get up early the next morning to go skydiving. Don’t worry! I didn’t go; I was just going for moral support for Tre, Nikki and Sarah. Anyway, the appointment was for noon and since we overestimated the time it would take to get to Duanesburg, we got to the skydiving place around 11:00. After they went inside to register, we were told to come back at 2, as there was a group of 13 ahead of them. So, to waste some time we went to Altamont Orchards, which is kind of a flea market type deal where we all bought fun things we didn’t need, and then we hit up the HISTORIC Duanesburg diner for some lunch. We were back to the place by 1:15 and after a bit of a wait were told that they wouldn’t sky dive until at least 3:30. After that, snarky Sarah came out. I think she scared the skydiving guys and they decided to intersperse Tre, Nikki and Sarah with the other group. In all honestly, they didn’t even go till probably after 4:00, but the skydiving guys made the effort to get the girls up there which was helpful. Everyone that worked there was really cool and they were fun to chat with. The day was gorgeous though! Unfortunately, I had worn a sweater and a jacket, as it was kinda chilly that morning. Luckily Tre had a t-shirt on underneath her long sleeved shirt that she let me wear or I would have spent the entire day dying of heat stroke. I did get quite a bit of sun, which was nice. Anyway, Tre went first and she was so excited when she got done! All the girls agreed it was one hell of a feeling and everyone had a great time. I really do regret not going. Maybe some other time. Paying for my sister’s was enough! Anyway, it was a VERY long day and I was pretty happy to finally get home…. And jump in the car to go to J’s, where I subsequently fell asleep about 30 seconds into the movie, “The Cave.” Obviously I can tell you nothing about it but Eddie Cibrian looks phenomenal in a wet suit.
Today was a bit of a waste, but it was nice to not have to go anywhere. I made a cheesecake from the mix I bought at Altamont Orchards. It was peanut butter cup… it was Yummy!! I also went to Hallmark and bought some candles and tarts. I go through candles and tarts like you wouldn’t believe. I guess I just really like the smell of something other than my house. I mean, who doesn’t? Anyway, not much else to say on this end. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, three day or not! (Although I’m sure those of us with the three day enjoyed it MUCH more).
PS - I'll post skydiving pictures as soon as blogger will let me. I tried, but it was to no avail.

I've heard TV watching is overrated anyway
While I didn’t watch the shows, I can still report on them. Monique, the uppity bitch, got booted from America’s Next Top Model. From what I heard she got sick, skipped the photo shoot and then got booted. I’ll try to watch the rerun on Sunday night but make no guarantees as I have Monday off and will more than likely be attempting to ingest my body weight in alcohol. My sister and two friends are going skydiving Sunday morning so it should be an entertaining day. I’m just going up to watch. Hell, I paid for the skydive, isn’t that enough? Anyway, ANTM - well, as we saw in the preview, Monique and Melrose had it out (verbally, although I’d love to see that catfight) and everyone hates Monique. SHOCKER! So, I guess she and Eugena (who doesn’t impress me) were in the bottom two and it was time for Monique and her diva like behavior to hit the road. I’m almost sad because she would be great television, but there is only room for one diva on that show and it’s Tyra! In the shock heard round the dancing world, Vivica A. Fox was booted from Dancing with the Stars! I didn’t see the show, but she was one of the last ones I expected to go. Apparently Jerry Springer wasn’t even in the bottom two, which in itself is quite a feat. A newcomer to the bottom two was Monique, the girl whose last name I can’t remember and probably never will. I’m telling you, it’s all about fan base. I mean, Vivica is probably slightly more of a star than most of the others and maybe that’s what turned them off. Or it could be the old “Chris Daughtry” where everyone just assumes people are voting for you, so they don’t. Either way, we still have Jerry’s flat footed performances to look forward to for at least another week.
I was listening to my Ipod at work today (as I’m apt to do) and between Breaking Benjamin and a song from the Avenue Q soundtrack (I shit you not) the song “Only You” by Yaz came on. I happened to hear it on my XM a few weeks back and had to download it. For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m pretty sure it’s the song that is played at the end of “Can’t Hardly Wait” when Ethan Embry is full on making out with Jennifer Love Hewitt in the train station. Anyway, this got me thinking about the movie Can’t Hardly Wait, which got me thinking about songs from movies. Not necessarily the whole movie soundtrack, just one particular song that gets into your head. I’m talking “good” songs, not My Heart Will Go On from Titanic. God I hate that movie. Anyway, I’ve come up with a Top 5 of sorts, not necessarily because they’re great songs, but because they always remind me of the movie they’re from when I hear them. Here goes:
Tiny Dancer - Almost Famous: Come on! The scene on the bus where they’re all singing together after pretty much fighting the whole tour is priceless. Great movie moment.
The Hurricane - Dazed and Confused: All that song reminds me of is Matthew McConaughey, terrible 70’s haircut and all, wandering through the pool hall in those ugly, but very well fitted pants.
Spin the Bottle - Reality Bites: I don’t remember where this song is in the movie, but I think it’s the greatest soundtrack ever and I guess when it came out I just thought it was really cool for a girl to say “fuck” in a song. Especially about someone else.
Little Bastard - Empire Records: “My name isn’t fucking Warren.” So appropriate.
Sister Christian - Boogie Nights: Ah, how the mighty have fallen.
Granted, they’re just opinions (I mean, isn’t that what blogging’s for?) and you don’t have to like them, but I do.
Newsflash: Rumor has it, Vince Vaughn is back on the market. Yes, that was a bad Jennifer Aniston reference but I bet most of your are too ashamed to admit you totally got it. Anyway, seems like they might have broken up and I’ve still got a shot. Life is good. Tomorrow is a payday Friday and it’s a long weekend. Yep… Life is good.

Things are never what they seem
When I got home my sister was on the phone with the cable company and apparently they’re sending someone out to the house to fix the DVR… ON SATURDAY!!! Are you serious? What the hell am I going to do? I guess I’ll need to read the recaps of Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model tomorrow. I’m going to threaten Sue with physical harm if she forgets to tape The Office (again) and I’m going to have to crash J.’s party Thursday night so I can hole up in his room and watch Grey’s Anatomy. I think I need to go to television rehab. Thank god Project Runway is almost over. I hope I don’t like Top Chef as much as Rob thinks I will, or else I’m really going to need meds.
Congratulations to my friends, Tara and Tim, who just let me know they are going to have their second baby! I’ve posted the most adorable picture ever of their son, Brady and for Tara’s sake, I hope the new baby is nowhere near his size. He was a hefty 10ish pounds at birth and I think it’s time to give Tara a little break on that one! Unfortunately, she managed to get knocked up before her 30th birthday so maybe we’ll have to do some big celebrating for the 3-1 instead! No idea when the baby’s due yet, but he/she should be the late spring/early summer baby they had been hoping for (or didn’t know they were hoping for, as the case may be).
After J. and I got home from Friendly’s he made me watch the show “The Unit.” Let me say, I’m a big fan of men in uniform so I wasn’t really against watching it, but I wasn’t really thrilled either. However, I got completely sucked into it. I don’t watch anything on Tuesday at 9 (at least not religiously) so I might have to start watching it on a regular basis.
Today, my friend Jeromy (Happy Birthday Jeromy!!!!) sent me this movie title quiz where the people are missing. All you can see is their clothes like they are the invisible man or something. It’s actually very cool! There are 60 movie titles. I’ve gotten 45 so far and that’s with LOTS of thinking. Anyway, I don’t know if anyone has seen this quiz online because I REALLY need to know what the answers are. Jeromy and I are going to compare what we have (because it’s his birthday, I’ll admit he has 49 answers) and hopefully get some more answers. I’d link you to it, but I have no idea where it is. I want to say it’s something I’ve seen before in Entertainment Weekly but I’m not positive. Any insight would be greatly appreciated by everyone that’s sent me an email asking what the answers are!
Well, it’s Project Runway Reunion Day and Hump Day. What more could a girl ask for? THEIR F’N DVR TO WORK, THAT’S WHAT!!!!!
Don’t ruin it for me unless it’s something I’ll need to know before this weekend.

Sometimes I Loathe Modern Technology
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned what my Halloween costume is going to be, but I decided I’m going to be a brownie. Not the edible kind (unless you’re a certain someone of the opposite sex), the girl scout kind. My mom even thinks she has my old sash and beanie in the attic. How freaking funny would that be? So, really all I need is a white blouse, khaki skirt and brown knee socks. I am so gonna rock the knee socks. I wish I could find those cute little orange things that attached to your socks. I don’t’ know what they’re called…. maybe they were considered garters, I have no clue. But, J. and I need to go to Boscov’s tomorrow night and they have Brownie stuff so I’ll have to see if I can find something. If not, I’ll have to find some stuff online. When I walked into work this morning I was greeted by Lacey and Petra, our receptionist. Halloween is a HUGE deal in my office so we had been trying to come up with some sort of trio that we could be. Well, they had decided this morning (thanks to a wacky wig they found as a muse) that the three of us were going to be TLC, but someone would have to look dead since only two of the three are alive. Yep… they were serious. After trying to get me to be characters from Labyrinth (I think Lacey really just wanted to be David Bowie) they finally settled on Napoleon Dynamite. To the left is the picture they sent me to tell me and my response was: “I guess I’m Pedro.” Petra is tall with very curly hair so she’d have to be Napoleon. Lacey will kill the side ponytail and fanny pack so she has to be Deb. I own a pair of cowboy boots so I have to be Pedro. I’m so sick of not being cute for Halloween. I mean, really! But, I will do the best I can with it. All I really need is a bolo tie, a western shirt and a kick ass wig. If anyone has anything of the sort, let me know.. Oh yeah.. I also need a porn star mustache. My sister let me know that I am NOT (contrary to popular belief) a good looking man, so this costume should be extremely interesting. Not to worry, I’ll take pictures.
I need an oil change. The date I’m supposed to be due back is November 11th. Obviously, I drive too much so my car usually needs to go in much sooner. I’m already overdue mileage wise. However, the last time I went to the Jiffy Lube (took my car in myself like a big girl), I ended up paying about $50 for an oil change. Apparently, that’s too much, or at least that’s what everyone has told me. Yep, I’m THAT girl that knows nothing about cars (and computers, and cooking - the three C’s basically) and always gets taken for a ride, and not the good ride! So, I’m trying to use my feminine wiles to get J. to take my car in. He goes to some place where he gets it for like $20-$25 and I would so be down with that. He said he’d go with me on Saturday if he doesn’t have to help his brother move (which I know he will) so I’m going to try to guilt him into taking it in for me. Unfortunately, guilt does not really work on him so I’m going to have to come up with a better idea.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I had to sub for my father in his bowling league last night. That was a train wreck. I couldn’t have sucked more if I were a two dollar hooker needing a crack fix. It was excruciating. I dumped the ball in the gutter twice (something I NEVER do) and missed all seven 10-pins that I left. Granted, as a right handed bowler, 10 pins are probably the most difficult spare that isn’t a split. However, you shouldn’t miss ALL SEVEN that you left. I mean, odds are you’ll at least pick up one. I just hate going into that league and stinking it up! Granted, it’s early in the season but I really shouldn’t suck that bad. I was pretty disappointed and then to come home and have there be no “Heroes?” You can imagine the obscenities that were hurled.
I’m supposed to be going to see Hollywoodland tonight so it looks like I’ll be missing Dancing with the Stars. Hopefully Springer stinks up the joint and finally gets booted. Play it safe this week, boys. No one likes the cocky kid on the playground and it’d be a travesty to be kicked off before Jerry Springer and the chick whose name no one knows just cause you wanted to make a splash!
Anyway, hopefully Tre (the electronics genius that she is) will figure out what we’re doing wrong with the DVR so we can tape Nip/Tuck and watch SVU. I will sacrifice something to the electronic Gods if you just let me tape my damn shows!!!!!!!!!!!! Come on.. I’m a relatively nice girl who only wishes harm on those who wish harm on me. Just let a sister see Julian McMahon’s ass in slo-mo. That’s all I can ask for..
Tomorrow is hump day. Act accordingly.

Money makes the world go round..
Saturday I began to catch up on my Netflix viewing. I watched The Notebook which was a very good movie. I’m not really one for period movies. Granted, it was only set in the 1940’s or 50’s but still. I like my movies in modern times. I had expected way more on the crying factor because A. I am a sap and B. I cry at the Maxwell House commercial when the kid comes home from the Army. So, I planned to be sobbing my brains out come the end of this flick. I found it to be slightly predictable, but still good. Sadly, I cried more watching The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants on HBO the next day. Don’t get me wrong, I teared up, but friends of mine were insisting I would be weeping. Not the case. Sunday I also watched Brokeback Mountain. Goodness, they didn’t waste any time with the man on man lovin’! I guess I didn’t expect the sex to be that early in the movie and so.. well.. violent! I think I just thought there’d be lots of making out, not full on anal. Ok.. so it wasn’t FULL-ON, but you get the point. It was a pretty good movie.. A little slow and I’m pretty sure if this was a movie about a man and a woman no one would have gotten Oscar nods (except Michelle Williams - trampy Jen sure has come a long way). I mean, kudos to Hollywood for embracing the man on man love story, but playing gay should not equal an Oscar nomination.
Anyway, Saturday was my friend Sarah’s 30th b’day/housewarming party. I didn’t get to take any pictures because J. and I weren’t able to stay that long as we had to go to my sister’s soccer game. Cross town rivalry! You can’t miss that stuff. Anyway, her team won continuing their undefeated streak and even had a pretty good article written about them in the Times Union. For those of you that don’t know, Ichabod Crane is in the Patroon Conference which isn’t the most illustrious of them all. So, for the Times Union (an Albany based paper) to write about them, well, they must be doing something right! Tre was pretty excited about it when she got the call last night so hopefully they can keep their momentum going. Words of advice: DON’T bring your new man to a game coached by your sister when he has played the sport she’s coaching. That’s all I’m going to say. I learned my lesson and J. won’t be accompanying me to another soccer game. Maybe we’ll try it again come softball season.
Today has been a really slow day which is going to morph into a really slow week as most of our attorneys will be at a conference in Chicago this week. I’m not complaining really, but it’s kind of hard to find things to do when there’s no one to give you work! I feel a sick day coming on..
I ordered this adorable lunch bag today. Granted, I won’t be able to get it for another 8-12 weeks but I had to order it because there weren’t many left. There were three options but only one left when I went online to buy it. It’s for a great cause (The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation) and $5 of the $9.95 cost will be donated. I say go online and get yours before they run out!
Hmm.. I’m trying to think of some good gossip but I’m coming up with nothing. I’ve got to bowl for my father in his league tonight. It’s mostly men and way more competitive than mine so I’m a little nervous about it. I did pretty well when I did it last year but that was much further into the season. Luckily, the guy I’m supposed to bowl is in Vegas this week so that will help alleviate the pressure. I love Vegas. I wanted to go real bad and he said if I bought the tits, he’d bring the money. I don’t know about you, but it sounds like a good deal! I mean, I DO have tits. I really should learn to use them for good and not evil……
Well, it’s the end of a Monday and I hope everyone was able to get through it. Happy Yom Kippur to my Jewish friends (of which I’m unsure that I have any) and have a great night everyone.
