I've been pretty busy at work and in life, so I'm going to try to simplify and give everything it's own paragrah and/or sentence. Hopefully I don't forget anything!
- Jason is NOT the baby daddy.. It's a pretty sad situation when you think about it. I mean, he's formed a bond and relationship with this child, and now he finds out it's not his? How awful could that be? And what kind of person does that to someone else!? I feel terrible for him. I know it's something he wanted, but I don't think he realized how it would afect him emotionally. The other day he said to me "Kara, this is the worst thing anyone has ever done to me." Be careful what you wish for, right? More to come on this subject, as now the poor guy will have to go to court to prove he's NOT the real father. So not only has she screwed him on child support for the last year, but now he's going to have to spend what will more than likely be an exorbitant amount of money to get her out of his life. This chick sounds like someone I'd like to meet in a dark alley. Seriously.. .who DOES that?
- I ran three miles on Thursday.. All by myself.
- J had his bbq on Saturday and I made an appearance even though I'm still bitter over the fact that I wasn't told about it (he insists I was.. I insist I wasn't). He certainly put the grill set I got him to good use! I give him a lot of credit, when he puts his mind to it, he sure can pull off a good meal. Well, it would have been a good meal had he not put onions in the meat, but it still turned out OK. Unfortunately for him, less people than expected showed up so he had lots of leftovers. Then again, maybe that's not as unfortunate as one would think. I left there to meet my cousin and softball buddies in Chatham for some cosmic bowling, then went back to his house afterwards. Two of his friends were still there so we played some drinking games and both passed out around 1:30, which was an improvement from 10:30 the night before. I'm telling you, Fridays are a killer for me.
- My friend Stephanie asked me to have a candle party. I have no interest whatsoever, but she's managed to guilt me into it. She's just starting to do parties for Party Lite candles and needs to do so many parties to get started. The way I figure it, if I were in the same situation, I would hope she'd such it up and have a party for me, so I shall do the same for her. So, keep your eyes open for an invite my friends.. Don't worry. I don't expect anyone to buy anything, but show up and make it look good and you might find something you like!
- Big Brother - last week Natalie won HOH, which means I have to listen to her whiny, annoying voice for at least another week and a half. Last night she nominated James and Joshua (as I'd expected) for eviction and if it stays that way, it's pretty obvious that James will be the one to go. Seriously, if Natalie makes it to the final two or wins, I might have to give up on Big Brother.
- Top Chef - The chefs had to come up with a menu that would satisfy the attendees of a block party, by using ingredients they found in the pantries of the residents. They were split into two teams, neither of which REALLY impressed the judges, but Eric's corn dogs sent him packing. Apparently the kicker is that he's made corn dogs (with lobster or something, of course) at his restaurant, therefore he should have known that transport would take the crispiness right out of them. Plus, corn dogs are probably the only thing on that show that I'd eat, so I have to say I was disappointed to see them not done justice.
- For the second year in a row, I could come in second in my old work's Final Four Pool. However, if Kansas keeps playing the way they have, I won't have a chance! Hell, it'd be nice to win back the money I put out, ya know?
- I'm looking to find a loan so I can consolidate all my debt. Anyone know of one with a good interest rate?
- Today was Opening Day at Camden Yards. Cal was there, and I wasn't. Don't worry.. I'm not bitter (That's a lie.. I'm CRAZY with bitterness). Anyway, the O's lost 6-2 to the Rays (not the Devil Rays anymore) which can only mean one thing: the start to a horrendous season. But hey.. maybe it'll be the start of an upward swing.. I mean.. you've gotta hit the bottom before you can make it to the top again, right?
- Happy Belated Birthday to my other man, Vince Vaughn (March 28) and happy birthday to my friend Shani! Hold off another couple hours so that new baby has it's own birthday.. Plus, if you wait till April 1 I bet your husband never forgets the baby's birthday!
- My sister got a summons for jury duty in the mail on Saturday. I got all excited when I saw it, then I realized it wasn't for me. Seriously, I'm the only person in the world that WANTS jury duty, and I can't get it. WTF?
Today I (to quote Office Space) "had a bit of the Mondays" so I'm going to relax, watch How I Met Your Mother and try to figure out how to replace my EZ Pass with one that works (I'm getting sick of being "that girl" on the bridge who stops traffic... and not in the good way). Remember, don't believe a word of what anyone says to you tomrorow.. although I'm sure I'll havea story about how I couldn't take my own advice in that regard.

This post is for the men in everyone's lives
Not only did this make me laugh, but it's so true.
Anyone want to forward this to J? I think it'd look a tad obvious coming from me ;)

Last Hump Day in March
J and I did go see Be Kind, Rewind last night. It was pretty funny, but the ending kinda sucked. That, and Mos Def talks like Mushmouth from "Fat Albert" so there were a few funny things I missed. If you like Jack Black, you should definitely see it, but don't expect a cinematic masterpiece.
James won the Power of Veto last night on Big Brother, and subsequently took himself off the block, forcing Adam to pick another houseguest to go up in his place. He chose Sharon, which pretty much solidifies the fact that Chelsia will go home tonight, unless something really, REALLY strange happens. I really like Chelsia and she had been a pretty good player. Joshua has managed to stay under the radar and he or someone in his crew better win Head of Household or he might see his first time on the block coming pretty quickly.
My friend Shannon cuts my hair, and it always looks really awesome when she gets done. Of course, I can never make it look remotely like she does, but I guess that's why she has her job and I have mine. Anyway, I'm getting it cut after work and while I SHOULD go somewhere to show it off, I'm just going to end up at the gym, ruining it with sweat. It's too bad too, cause I'm wearing a relatively cute outfit today that would go really well with good hair.
Penn Jillette and Monica Seles got voted off Dancing with the Stars. I didn't get to watch Monday night's show yet, but after watching last week's I'm not all that surprised. Apparently Adam Carolla has more fans than Penn Jillette cause they were equally horrendous.. Fun to watch, but still horrendous.
OOH LORD.. the Hills is back! I know I shouldn't love that show, but I do. Anyway, I'm sad to say that I actually LIKED Heidi for a second, when she was a total bitch to Spencer when he followed her to Colorado after she said she needed space. Obviously not the sharpest tool in the shed that Spencer. Anyway, if I didn't already know they were still together and taking advantage of totally staged photo opportunities, I'd probably have more respect for her. I also want to know what kind of cell phones these people have that allow them to call their buddies in France. I mean, that bill will more than likely be atrocious, wouldn't you think!? To sum it up, Lauren and Whitney go to Paris - Lauren ruins a dress, but Alberto Ferretti loans her another one anyway. She lets a rocker dude take her out on his Vespa for a tour of France, but she totally doesn't give him more than the cheek kiss. He was kinda skeevy to be honest, but if you like that rocker thing... Brody's a tool and mere days after dropping her off at the airport, is parading around a new "girlfriend," hence the moonlight Vespa ride. I can't wait for shit to hit the fan.
J's on vacation next week. In his insomnia induced hazes I continue to try to get him to agree to go to Opening Day at Camden Yards with me. He's obviously not tired enough yet....

Summer is Fun
Cause it's concert time!!!
Counting Crows will be at SPAC with Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles on August 12th. I really hate concerts at SPAC, but it's Counting Crows and I missed them the last time they were close.
Also touring the US (although I'm sure no where closer to me than NYC) - George f'n Michael. Oh yeah... enough said.

Question
If we can make safes out of fire proof material, why don't we do the same with houses? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

One Week Till Opening Day
and in honor of that, I have this story to tell:
My friend Tim is a morning drive DJ for a country station in South Florida. Well, as we all know, Florida is one of the "places to be" for Spring Training. Through his job, Tim has met many people, most of them people I've wanted to meet my whole life that he meets first. Don't worry.. I'm not bitter.. Anyway, on Friday he was able to go to the Orioles spring training game against the Cardinals. After countless phone calls and text messages, I was able to relay to him the O's whose autograph(s) I would really appreciate. He was down by the dugout and Kevin Millar is on double deck. When he gets on deck, Tim asks him for his autograph to which Kevin replies "I'll get you when I come back." Sweet, right? That's what Tim thought.. until Millar got up to bat and was subsequently drilled on the fingers. Needless to say, he didn't come back to give Tim that autograph, as he was grimacing in pain and taken away to the locker room. Tim sat there like a dejected child, (I'm imagining) ball in one hand, pen in the other. It was a story that could only happen to him! Still, the O's play there again on Wednesday, so he's assured me he'd get there early and wouldn't let anyone get away from him! I wish him lots of luck and thank him plenty.. And oh yeah.. Millar is fine, so Tim better REMIND him of his promise of an autograph... and not take "no" for an answer!

Happy Belated Easter
Hope everyone had a lovely day. It was sunny out in my neck of the woods, although still a touch cold for this time of year. We had the family over and as per usual, it got a little loud in the house. We're good like that. Mom made prime rib, twice baked potatoes and corn. I admit, I missed the ham. I'm a big fan of ham. Still, the prime rib was good, as were the potatoes. Mom also made banana cream pie from scratch AND Robert Redford Cake. I have no idea why it's called that, but it was really good, perhaps like Robert Redford. I wouldn't know from personal experience so I can only speculate. Tre and I got Easter baskets for the first time in a few years. Yes, my parents are queer, but that is why we love them! I got a running shirt, Cadbury Creme Eggs, Marshamallow Peeps, white chocolate non-pareils from Vasilow's and some trial size stuff from Bath and Body. At least that's all I can remember off the top of my head, as my mom had me put it out of the way and Tre and I subsequently forgot our baskets at the end of the night. The only thing I missed this year was Cadbury Mini Eggs.. I didn't see them ANYWHERE and they're my favorite, even more so than creme eggs. If anyone has any they don't want, I'll gladly take them off your hands.. and don't try to pass off those damn malted milk eggs.. I can see right through that trick..
I was supposed to run three miles yesterday, but that didn't happen. I went to the gym, which was supposed to be open from 8-12 and found the door locked with no note. I went to my parent's house and ran on their treadmill, but I only made it through a mile before I thought I was going to die. Not quite sure why. Tre and I had gone to Meadowgreens the night before and I had my first ever Jager Bomb, but I felt fine in the morning. Tre, Nikki and I decided we shoudl go out and watch some basketball Saturday night, so we had pizza, wings and beers. It was a really good time, until the end of the night when I lost my brackets. I bring them with me EVERYWHERE during March Madness because I can never remember who I have in my pool. Well, in trying to get out of the bar Saturday night, I must have left them there. Luckily, Nikki was nice enough to text me my picks for the day. She's a good egg. I'm doing OK in my pools. All my Final Four teams are still in, so that could be a miracle in and of itself at this point. I can't wait till they start playing again on Thursday!
J and I went to dinner after bowling, then back to his house to drink beer and watch a movie. Yeah, we made it through 2 beers a piece and about an hour of War. This is the second time we've tried to watch it, and he insists he's seen it all. Well, when I woke up during the end credits, he was snoring like a buzz saw, so I really don't think he's seen it all quite yet. I've already threatened him with bodily harm if we don't go see Be Kind, Rewind this week, mainly because I'm shocked it came to Hudson and have no clue how long it will last. J was a no-show for Easter, which I kind of understood, but was still disappointed about. He called just as we were sitting down to dinner and had just gotten out of work. He definitely worked more than 12 hours that day so I felt bad, but I guess I thought he'd make some sort of effort. Then again, I've never worked over 12 hours on 4 hours of sleep, so I should give him the benefit of the doubt. To compensate for being "slightly" bitchy on the phone, I brought him home some pie. That's enough, right?
OH MY GOD - Fabulous news! My cousin Chrissy and her boyfriend Kenny got engaged yesterday! Congratulations go out to them.. they're a perfect fit as far as couples go, and I can't wait to see the ring. I have to admit, I cried. I don't know, it's weird. This is my first relative that I'm really close to to get married, so it was just a different feel than when your friend tells you they are. That, and when my friends get engaged I immediately think of how much money it's going to cost me. What can I say? I've been in enough weddings in the past that I can be a tad cynical about stuff like that. However, I have to say that of all the weddings I've been in, no one (knock on wood) has gotten divorced.. That's a pretty good track record. Anyway, they're probably going to do a small church service with just immediate family, then a party, which is very much the way they are. I can't wait and I couldn't be happier for her. She shocked me with that news today, especially since Kenny has had the ring since November and asked my Uncle for permission about a month ago! I have no idea how he kept it in all this time! So, Congratulations Chrissy and Kenny!!!
Slow day today... we should have the day after holidays off just to digest! I'll be back with a story later..

Benedict Arnold
Here's some entertaining baseball reading I forgot to post yesterday.
Hope he doesn't hold his hand on his ass waiting for those return phone calls.

Bad Way to Start the Weekend
I need new tires.
I've been up J's ass for the last month to take my car in for an oil change. After all, isn't that part of the fun of having a boyfriend? I just don't do the car thing. That's what mechanics and AAA are for. J loathes my ignorance for all things cars, but takes my car in for oil changes anyway. Life is good. So yeah.. I've been bugging him for at least a month and finally got sick of waiting. My steering has just felt kinda loose and not right, so I brought it to the shop. They called me this morning to let me know that three out of four of my tires are basically down to the tread and I need new ones. I guess it makes sense. I've had the car for almost two years and have put 32,000 miles on it in that time. Still, with that and the oil change, it's over $400 I just don't have. Thank god my mechanic bills me and doesn't want the money up front. Oh yeah... and did I mention that 10 minutes after I made the appointment with the mechanic J offered to take my car in for an oil change? Yeah... perfect timing.

St. Patty's Day Pics
So yeah.. who doesn't love meeting new boys? When J saw these pics he was like "Um.. yeah.. so there's you and the bald guy." Apparently my reputation precedes me...
That's me and Higgie dancing in the booths at McFadden's.
The group from Hudson (minus one) - Fish, Danny, Me and Tre.
We had a really great time and there were many more pictures, but I'm unsure as to how many I can get away with and still have them come out normal.

Doing the Right Thing
FINALLY, someone on Big Brother made a smart move. Let me catch you up: James won HOH, after making a deal with his only competition, Natalie, to not put up her and Matty. Seemed stupid at first, since Matty is a liar and manipulator and needs to go, but whatever. You have to do what you have to do. Anyway, no surprise, James puts up Ryan and Sheila, both of whom admitted to being two of the three votes to NOT bring James back into the house. The third vote was Matty of course, but he's not admitting to it and making it look like it was Adam. He even has Natalie doing his dirty work in trying to make the others believe "A-Baller" was the elusive third vote. James makes it a clean sweep by winning the Power of Veto and decides he's going to use it. I almost put my hand through the TV when he said he was going to put up Adam and not Matty, but luckily, Sharon got it through his thick skull that Matty was the third vote. Therefore, last night James took down Sheila and put up Matty. Natalie is PISSED.... I love it, I can't wait to get her dumb, skanky ass off my television and I'm curious to see who she latches on to (Ryan) when her Matty is gone. I'd be shocked if Matty didn't go, but stranger things have happened!
I fast forwarded through the male version of Dancing with the Stars last night and I have to say, not so bad. I mean, Adam Carolla was a trainwreck, but still wasn't as bad as I had heard. I'm still voting for Guttenberg. He just looked like he was having such a good time and couldn't get the shit eating grin off his face! Obviously, Mario was very good, and will probably stay for quite some time, which I'm so not ok with, as I LOATHE Karina Smirnoff.. There will always be someone the masses think has an "unfair advantage" and it looks like this year, it's Mario. Too bad Bruno already used all his "Super Mario" references on Mario Lopez. Anyway, Cristian de la Fuente(?) was very good, but I'm sure he'll suffer from no one knowing who the F he is. They all get to dance again next week, and I'm not sure who'll go. Penn Jillette and Adam Carolla were certainly the bottom two, but both could have substantial fan bases, if Carolla's "MEN" get sucked into watching with their significant others (much like I tricked J into doing last night... sucker). I heard the women were pretty good and that Kristi Yamaguchi was a front runner. I taped it, so I guess I'll have to check it out before one male and one female couple (I think) get booted next week.
So... I suck at cooking. I've been pretty broke lately and J was basically my bitch all last week, buying me dinner and such. So, I thought I'd make him chicken cordon bleu, mashed (from the box) potatoes and corn. Yeah, the breasts never defrosted all the way and were really too big for this meal. As usual, I can never get the sides to work, so all the cheese melted out. This was our exact conversation when J told me he was on his way to my house:
K: Listen, dinner's not gonna be so great, but can you just lie to me and pretend it's ok?
J: Don't I always?
K: (pause) Ouch.. that's not very nice.
J: But it made you laugh didn't it?
And it did.. however, I'm still not sure if he was joking or if EVERYTHING I make sucks. I mean, I made a mean taco a few weeks ago... That should count for something.

And it did.. however, I'm still not sure if he was joking or if EVERYTHING I make sucks. I mean, I made a mean taco a few weeks ago... That should count for something.
Things I Hate About the Gym
The skinny bitch(es) in the matching outfit that never sweats... EVER.. She even puts the fan directly on her so she has goosebumps, as opposed to sweating. And yes.. I'm pretty sure it's not some crazy medical condition.. just vanity.
Sweaty guy that always gets on the treadmill next to me. It's bad enough having my own sweat on me, I don't need yours too!
Smelly guy - Do I need to explain?
Stalkers - those people standing behind you, just waiting for you to finish your workout so they can get the next available treadmill/elliptical. It's because of these people that I put a magazine over the display.
Chatty locker room ladies - I can hardly breathe when I'm done, which makes it difficult to hold a full fledged conversation with SOMEONE I DON'T KNOW!!!! Sometimes a girl just wants to be left alone, hence the headphones...
Cell phones - I can pretty much guarantee that you're not so important that you can't take some time out of your day to walk on the treadmill WITHOUT chatting to your buddy on your cell phone. Get over yourself.

The aftermath
I could drink a lake's worth of water and still not feel hydrated.
Yesterday was an absolute blast! We had a really great time and met some new people, as always. I hope to get the pictures up either tonight or tomorrow, so I promise they are forthcoming.... and entertaining.
I thought I'd get some good, passed out sleep, but the train ride must have ruined that for me, as I woke up over and over again. I have a feeling that I'll be asleep before J tonight.. even though he had to work at 3:00 this morning.
And still no news on the paternity test. I know.. I promised, but apparently these things take time!

TGI LONG WEEKEND
It's Friday... Is it just me or did it take FOREVER to get here!? Let me catch you up..
Wednesday night, Tre and I went to Fleet Feet in Albany to get new running sneakers. It was a really cool experience, and I'd recommend it to anyone. They bring out a "neutral" shoe and videotape you running on the treadmill. After that, they evaluate your needs and bring out some shoes for you to try on. In the test shoe, you could see that my calf was off kilter, pretty blatantly. However, when I put on the other shoes, it was straight as an arrow. Unreal.. I ended up getting the same brand of shoe I have now (New Balance) but a different make. Apparently the one I have might have too much support. Who knew that was possible? Nice thing was, they spent at least a half hour with each of us, and you didn't end up paying any more for the shoes than you would at a regular sneaker store. At least not that I'm aware of! If you're planning on getting into running, I think it's a great place to start.
After that, Tre and I went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. YUM! Not great for a girl with no money (that would be me), but still well worth it. The soup of the day was Baked Potato, which is something I never turn down... EVER! It was really great, too. After that I got Crusted Chicken Romano, which was ridiculously huge. I think I'm going to eat my leftovers for dinner tonight before bowling, and I might not even be able to finish them. THAT is how much food they give you. It's insane. I couldn't fit cheesecake into my belly, but Tre and I decided to split one so we got Dulche de Leche Caramel Cheesecake. OH... MY... GOD... it might be the best one I've had there so far. It was just so creamy and yummy, even after I dropped it in Macy's :). Speaking of Macy's, we had to go there afterwards because I wanted to get a bra or two. I was SERIOUSLY lacking in the bra department, so much so that I'm not even going to discuss it as I might be mortified. Anyway, I had a coupon and they had a buy 2, get 1 free sale, so how could that be wrong? Well, come to find out, it was buy 2 of each BRAND, get 1 free of that brand. When I went to the counter I had two of each brand, so the woman convinced me to get a free one of each brand. So I walked out of there with six bras and three pairs of underwear for $125.00. Seriously, it's a deal! Well, it took forever so Tre and I didn't get home in time for Big Brother. However, we settled in to watch what we DVR'd and eat our cheesecake.
Big Brother was well worth watching this week! Drama abounds as expected and James is eliminated, with Chelsia being the only houseguest voting for him to stay. The twist then comes in, with an already eliminated houseguest being allowed back in. America chose Alex, which was surprising to me, but fair, as he'd only been eliminated cause Amanda was a bubbleheaded moron. Anyway, after James comes out to talk to Julie, it's announced that the houseguests have to vote either a mystery houseguest in or James. James won and came back into the house with a vengeance, as everyone pretended to be happy. I think for the most part they were, cause they were sure it would have been Allison to come back, but she didn't even come in second in the voting, Parker did. Anyway, the show ended with the Head of Household competition which was going to be a battle of wills, as the houseguests were hanging in the air, standing on discs in the disco ball challenge. They were being pelted with "champagne" and lord knows what else. I know who won, but I'm not telling. Let's just say it's going to be a fun week in the BB house!
Next up was the season premiere of Top Chef. I can't really say too much about it as there are just too damn many people right now! There is a lesbian couple (Jen and Zoi - I think her name was Jen.. see what I mean about too many people?) so that's new. I LOVE this one guy Andrew. He just cracks me up and thinks so highly of himself. It's great television. I don't really see any true front runners at this point, but it's only a matter of time. To summarize - the show is set in Chicago this year so their quickfire challenge was to make a deep dish pizza. Talk about a train wreck. It was judged by Padma and Rocco Dispirito and some of them plain old tanked. We come to the elimination challenge and they will go head to head (winners v. losers of the quickfire) making old favorites. I believe they were chicken piccata, Duck a l'orange, souffle, shrimp scampi... yeah I can't remember the rest. Anyway, the antisocial Nimma got booted, while Stephanie (who shit the bed in the quickfire) took home the win. I was happy with the way it turned out. I wasn't ready for anyone but Nimma to go yet. Looks like it's going to be a season full of drama and more food I don't like... Good times..
I'm pretty sure THIS isn't necessary.
I knew he was gonna strike out, but I kind of wish he hadn't..
I stayed at J's last night, which I wasn't really expecting, so much so, that I hadn't even showered after running when he called me. We went to dinner at his favorite Italian place (because it's fast). Yeah... it wasn't. AND, the waitress told me their soup of the day was Potato Cheddar (see above) and it wasn't. It was Manhattan Clam Chowder. Talk about a letdown. We went back to his house and tried to watch War with Jason Statham and Jet Li. It was good (what I saw of it) but I just couldn't do it. We started it after 9 and had turned the TV off by 10. At least he has an excuse, being that he had to work at 4, as he did yesterday. Me? Nothing. I AM going to need to have a chat with his roomie though. I know it's his house and all, and I respect that. But we need to come up with some sort of showering schedule. I didn't get into the shower at his house until 7:20 today, making me a few minutes late for work. I hate rushing around in the morning as it is, and this was kinda ridiculous. I'll have to see what sweet talking I can do to work this out.
No co-worker today. I'm on my own, so this will more than likely be the last blog post of the day, and perhaps not again until Tuesday when I PROMISE to have some St. Patty's Day pics! As per usual, I'm headed down to NYC for the day. I ordered train tickets yesterday so it's a done deal. We leave on the 6:45 train and will be down there by 8:45. We then take the 7:10 train back. I figured that would give us plenty of time to get a good night's sleep before the work day on Tuesday. We shall see!
UGH... our downstairs fridge died. I went down there last night to get a Lean Cuisine Pizza to bring for lunch, and the damn thing was blowing out hot air. We threw away a ridiculous amount of frozen food (mostly mine of course), so I have a hot pocket for lunch today. It was seriously all I could find that I didn't have to put effort into. Luckily, my parents have a freezer in their basement that they barely use, so they're giving it to us. Happy Easter! Speaking of Easter... I have to get me a Cadbury Creme Egg, pronto.
OOh.. stick with me.. today we find out if my ex the baby daddy really IS the baby daddy. Seriously, is there EVER a dull moment with me?
Have a great weekend!!

Oh Yeah, It's On!!
The tables are turning on Big Brother. Last night there was a bit of an alliance (or so we thought) between Sharon, Joshua, James, Chelsia, Sharon and Ryan. All of them offered Ryan two weeks of immunity if he back doored Matt. Ryan subsequently won the Power of Veto competition, however he let Chelsia keep it and took $10k for himself (much to Sheila's dismay, as she was the prior owner of the ten grand). Anyway, Sheila took Ryan aside and basically begged for him NOT to put up Matty, going against the alliance she was supposedly a part of. When the Veto meeting was held, Ryan made a point of saying he felt like he was in the middle of everything and that he was asked to put up one of his boys.. and he did... James. Matty kind of threw it in everyone's face which made them like him even more (note the sarcasm) and most people were in shock, most of all James. I don't know how good a choice it was for Ryan. He has to PRAY that either Matt, Natalie, Adam or Sheila gets HOH next week or the target on his back will be substantial and he'll go up against Matty no doubt. Yep.. now that everyone is one their own, it's getting interesting! I think James will be the one to go tonight, as he has been more vocal than Sharon. All I can hope is that Natalie goes soon. I'm so sick of hearing her voice and watching her throw herself at Matt who so obviously wants nothing to do with her romantically. I'd feel bad for her, but she should have figured that out by now.
Top Chef Chicago starts tonight so at least my DVR will still know to tape Bravo at 10 p.m.! From what I hear, this season has a pretty talented group, and more woman than past seasons, including a couple. Should prove to be interesting. I would never eat anything they make, but damned if the drama doesn't make for fascinating television.
I'm also DVRing The Real Housewives of NYC. It's no Orange County, but I already have a favorite so that will more than likely keep me coming back. What can I say? I'm a Bravo whore!
So, my college rugby reunion is coming up at the end of April. I'm really not looking forward to it that much, only because it's made me feel kinda old the last few years and it just hasn't been as much fun as in the past. Well, my one friend has decided we're going and PROMISES me it'll be the last year, so I'm considering it. Anyway, she was telling me how she's going to bring her fiance, so I thought I'd ask J if he wanted to come. I know he'd get along really well with her fiance and my other friend's boyfriends also. I mentioned it last night and he didn't say no, so that's a step in the right direction! I think he's really interested in seeing a rugby game so I guess if worse came to worse, we could head up for the day on Saturday instead. I only planned on going for Friday night and Saturday anyway, but I can use him as my excuse not to stay through Sunday so as to not ruffle any feathers.
Tonight Tre and I are headed to Fleet Feet in Albany, where they fit you for sneakers. I know, it sounds lame, but they make you run in shoes and see how you run and how your feet react and such to find the best shoe for your foot. It'll probably cost me a bundle, but with the way I run I need as much cushioning as possible. I run/walk on the insides of my feet so it puts pressure where there probably shouldn't be any. If I'm going to attempt to run 15K, I'm gonna need as much help as I can get. I started a new program yesterday through Runners World that will hopefully help me out. I guess you have to do speed work and tempo work, whatever the hell that is. Tre is all gung ho about it so I guess I'll be her pet project of sorts. Now if only I could motivate myself to start lifting again. That would probably be helpful too. Regardless, I can now run two miles without stopping (at least) which is something I truly never thought I'd be able to do. We'll see where this takes me..
As always, hump 'em if you got 'em. Hell, you can try to hump 'em even if they're not yours, although I don't recommend it.

Monday, Monday
I was supposed to go to my friend Sue's house tonight. We haven't seen each other in what seems like MONTHS, so we really need to catch up. However, she's sick so the plans fell through. I had already done all my laundry AND gone to the gym, leaving me with nothing to do tonight. I loathe being idle. Luckily, J got me a bootleg copy of Atonement from one of his buddies at work, so he saved the day. I thought it was a great movie, but I'm really glad I read the book prior to seeing it. I think reading it made things easier to follow, as a lot of background information was cut out.
Siena won the MAAC title tonight at the TU Center! That's what I should have done, but it was a little too last minute to get someone to go with me. However, March Madness will be starting so hopefully I can do well on my brackets again this year!
Would this not be the funniest (and most fun) wedding ever?
Matt Damon is expecting a baby with his wife... Guess he used a condom with Sarah Silverman..
So, I didn't make it to the gym all weekend, as I pulled my groin muscle during bowling on Friday night. It hurt so bad that I really didn't think I would be able to finish the night. I deserved it though. I had been cracking on my team mate for her calf injury and then karma bit me in the ass (or groin as the case may be). I couldn't bend at all.. it was excruciating. So instead I went home, cleaned out my DVR and got a drunken phone call from J at 2 am. Good times.
The next night two of my sister's friends from college came up with their significant others. J managed to get Sunday off for the first time I can ever recall, so we all went to dinner at Meadowgreens, then back to our house to play some board and drinking games. We had SUCH a good time!! I mean, it had to be a good time if J admitted he had fun and didn't just say "it was alright."
Due to the insane amounts of rain we got this weekend, we didn't have hot water again from Saturday night into Monday. I guess I should be grateful that we still had power.. So, Sunday night I went to my parent's house for chicken parm, chocolate cream pie and a shower. It was a really good excuse for me to hit the gym on Monday morning though. The gym shower was not as bad as I thought it would be, although I can only imagine what I looked like leaving the gym in my towel turban. I admit, I felt pretty good getting it done in the morning, but it's not easy to get up that early! Still, I'm considering doing it again... It's kind of nice to already have accomplished something by the time you get to work!
Oooh.. Big Brother - Ryan won Head of Household and put up Sharon and Chelsia. Tomorrow night is the Power of Veto competition which could probe to be very interesting, as Sharon does quite well in competitions. I can't wait to see who comes back in the house, although I'm sure it'll be Allison. I mean, how much more drama could you get?
I'd write more, but the season finale of October Road is on and that takes precedence. If I don't find out who Sam's father is, I'm gonna flip shit..

Letter to Afrim's
After last week's soccer debacle, I wrote a letter to the guy that was a douchebag.. and blind cc'd it to his boss... :) Hey.. actions have consequences.. deal with it.
Dear _______ –
I’d like to take a moment to clear up the events of the last week.
First of all, I want to thank you and the staff at Afrim’s for being so helpful and accommodating for the last three sessions. We’ve really enjoyed easing ourselves back into the game of soccer and are saddened that we won’t be back until the Fall.
However, I want you to know that if it weren’t for your rude and unprofessional conversation with my teammate, we would still be playing this session. She was simply calling to clarify things and swearing at her was just the tip of the iceberg. I don’t know what brought on that outburst, but it was completely unwarranted and I hope that’s not the way you treat people in business. I understand that you don’t work in a stereotypical office, but it doesn’t give you the right to say the things you said to her. I can only hope that if you looked back on that conversation, you would do things differently. Perhaps you were having a bad day. After all, we all do. That doesn't warrant you speaking to her the way you did.
You made a point of saying that we were making a big deal out of nothing. You’re entitled to your opinion. However, considering we drive up to an hour to get to games, it’s important to know what is going on and not just a day in advance. That, and we are paying your facility. I don’t think it’s fair that we weren’t at least asked or told in advance (of more than a day) that we were being pushed to a level we weren’t comfortable with. We had lost our goalie and a few other valuable players and yes, I understand that looking at our goals against and record for the past two sessions, we would be bumped up. However, we were not the same team and as I’m sure you’re aware, the loss of a goalie is pretty devastating. Unfortunately, it’s not a position just anyone can play. While we were unhappy about going to that level unprepared, we had no intentions of not doing so, until your conversation with Allyson.
I was disappointed and surprised to hear that “5 or 6” teams were unwilling to play us. We had a problem with one team, and I admit, it was a warranted issue. It was a physical game and things were said and done that probably weren’t very sportsmanlike on both sides. I understand that. However, if there had been complaints about our game play I really wish you (or someone else) had taken me aside and let me know about it, perhaps even suggested we go up a level. What we consider playing aggressive, may not translate as such to other teams. If you feel there would be another league we would be better suited for, I would be more than happy to consider it instead of the Moms league.
Like I said, we’ve had a really great time the last couple of months and are eagerly awaiting the Fall session to start back up again. I really wanted to write this so there would be no hard feelings and we could clear the air about it. I apologize for the late notice on our not playing, but it was the only thing we could do, as we really did hem and haw over our decision.
Thanks again for all your help over the past few months and we look forward to playing again in the Fall. Maybe even at Level 1….
God damn, I'm eloquent..
My plans for tonight fell through so I have NOTHING to do. I mean, I already did my laundry and went to the gym! Therefore, I should be back with more later..
Heaven has a name
and it is Dairy Queen. 2 burgers for $2.22!? How can you go wrong there? I also got the Blizzard of the Month - Mint Oreo.. I haven't had it yet (I'm kinda full) but I'm very much looking forward to it. DQ AND Girl Scout Cookie delivery in one day? Can life really get any better? Well, if Peter Angelos sold the O's to Cal Ripken, yes... but I think that's really the only way.
Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer, although apparently he's not on death's door like many outlets have been reporting.
As "Angel Eyes" has always been one of my favorite songs, I was saddened to hear that Jeff Healey died earlier this week. I can honestly say I never knew he was blind!
I know it may be kinda pathetic, but I spent many a minute perusing this page cause I really DID want to know what they were up to. Ah, the good old days!
Sometimes I LOATHE the internet and my inability to stay off it. Although I taped both shows, I already know who won Project Runway and who got booted from Big Brother.. I'd tell you, but I'd have to kill you....
Time to do some work and then go to the gym to work off the bazillion calories I've eaten today.. Perhaps DQ is not heaven, but the devil in fast food form......

I'm a Reject
I didn't get into the Radiologic Technology Program at Hudson Valley. They gave me four things I should do to make my application more appealing when I reapply. Um... no thanks. I'm not going to pay you so I can read Beowulf again just so I can do x-rays. It makes no sense. I took 400 level english classes, so no, I'm not going to start from scratch and pay you to do so! I knew it was coming, but it was still a bit of a shock. I mean.. I got rejected from a community college, essentially. I know that's not really how it is, but still.
I still smell like chlorine. Last night a few of our players went to my friend Allyson's to soak in her hot tub and bad mouth Afrim's. It was a good time! We had beer, pizza and wings and soaked for way too long. And oh yeah.. we got our WINNERS T-shirts!!! :) While I was in the hot tub, my father called to tell my sister and I that he couldn't get our hot water heater to turn back on (we had flooding in our basement earlier and I think it hit the heater or something). So, I called J to see if it would be ok if I stayed there last night so I could take a warm shower in the morning. I say warm cause it's kind of a crap shoot at his house as to whether you'll get hot water and how long it'll last. Luckily for me, his roomie wasn't home so I had the hot water all to myself!
I have some stuff to do, but I hope to have some more info for you later after I binge on a Dairy Queen lunch and my newly acquired Girl Scout Cookies (thin mints and do-si-do's). Don't worry.. I'm going to the gym later!

The O's
If the front office keeps F'ing things up, I think I'll charge them for my laser tattoo removal.
Soccer Drama
Last night I got a phone call from a girl at Afrim's, telling me that our game was moved to 7:40 instead of 8:40. She then proceeds to tell me that is because we got bumped up to Level 1. I asked if we had a choice in the matter and she said "no, not really." Um.. ok.. aren't I paying YOU? Shouldn't I have a choice what division we play in? So, I was pissed off by this turn of events, only because we've lost some players and our goalie. Not having a goalie can make a huge difference. The play in Level 1 is much faster and as you can recall, we didn't fare so well in Level 1. I called some of the girls and everyone was pretty peeved that we didn't at least get asked if we wanted to go up, rather than just put us up there 24 hours before the game! It seems the games are earlier too, which is nice and all, if we didn't have two people who can't get there anytime before 8 due to work commitments!
So, Allyson (one of our players) called Afrim's for an explanation of things. She was basically berated by the guy who had, up to this point, been extremely helpful and nice to us. He was rude and unprofessional, at one point telling her to be quiet so he could get a word in edgewise and just being demeaning by calling her "honey." He also said that 5 or 6 teams in the division didn't want to play us so besides our goals against (obviously without Fish not a real accurate representation of our team) that was why we were going up. What I find funny is that two teams joined the league yesterday (so they say). So, if five or six teams didn't want to play us, shouldn't he have known this LAST week or earlier? So yeah.. I'm pretty sure he's lying.
Anyway, we've decided to bail on this session and come back full force in the fall. I don't like the fact that it looks like we don't want to lose. That's not the case at all. To be honest, we were going to play until Jason pulled his attitude on Allyson. It just gave everyone a bad taste in their mouth and made us really not want to give Afrim's our money for a while. I think Tre is going to call and let them know which is probably a good thing. Tre kind of can't be mean to anyone. If I got Jason on the phone, we might never be allowed back into Afrim's! I was thinking about writing a very well thought out email to him regarding the situation, but I really don't want to waste my time if I don't have to. I'm disappointed.. I love playing, but hey.. softball's coming soon and not only do I have my own co-ed team, but J seems to think I'm playing with him on Friday nights. I think it's only because he really likes my bat, but whatever.
This drama has taken up my life for the last 12 or so hours, but I'll try to be back with more later.

Welcome to March
It's already been pretty busy, hence my not having a chance to post but I plan to remedy that right now!
First off.. what a night.. I finally managed to watch The Recruit and when I got done, SWAT was on FX. What more could a girl ask for?
Friday night Tre, Danny, J and I went to the Siena game. We had tickets in the First Niagara box and we had a blast. There was a slight issue when some random guy called J "Limp Bizkit" but it all worked out. I mean, what a dated reference.. I think that's why J let it go because this guy really should have come up with something better. Anyway, we started at Hill Street Cafe where we ran into one of our friends from softball. He was also bowling in the tournament the next day so we made a side bet of $1 a game. More on that later.. We also ran into my cousin, her boyfriend and some other friends. Guess the Siena game was the place to be on Friday night! Anyway, the game was really good. Siena kicked ass and everyone got a little buzzed, if not more. By the time we got home I was more than ready for bed, and passed out pretty quickly.
I woke up really early Saturday morning so I could do my running before the tournament. Call me superstitious, but ever since I started running before my bowling league, I've been kicking ass. I think it helps with my timing. Anyway, the roads were wet, but basically fine, after what was SUPPOSED to be a solid storm the night before. I got to the gym and there were no cars and a note on the door. Yeah.. I was kinda livid. I definitely could have used the extra sleep. I didn't have the time to sit around and wait for the worker to get there, so I just resigned myelf to the fact that I wasn't going to be able to run that morning. I went home and started to watch America's Next Top Model that I had DVR'd earlier in the week. At 7:53 Tre comes in and asks when I'm taking a shower, as Dad was picking us up at 8:15. The night before she had told me he would be there at 9, as the tournament was postponed an hour for inclement weather. So, I ran around the house like a chicken with my head cut off to get ready and guess when Dad came? You got it.. 9:00. Great way to start the day. We hit the Whitestone Cafe for breakfast (AWESOME) and made it to the bowling alley with plenty of time to get our stuff together. Tre and I bowled right next to each other and my ex Jason finagled his way onto my lane. So yeah, we were spending the whole day together. Tre and I bowled really well the first half of the day, averaging well over 200 per game. We were leading 1 and 2 going into the second block.. which is where we both shit the bed. I started out bad and just couldn't make up the deficit from that one bad game. It didn't stop either of us from making the Top 5 though, so while we started drinking, we had to continue to bowl. Our team ended up winning the whole tournament and it was off to the Elks Club for the "banquet." I was in charge of the women's jackpots so I wasn't really around much, until after the money presentations. I won a little bit, which was better than the goose egg I won last year! Well, since the bowlers from across the river aren't on our side that often, we all decided to go to Melino's for a little after party. And oh yeah.. did I mention my sister had already offered Jason our couch to sleep on? Yeah.. so the plan was for one of the guys to drive me, Tre and Jason down to the bar in Jason's car and Jason would sober up enough to drive back to my house. That was the plan.. Guess who ended up sobering up? You got it.. me. I could tell from the get go that Tre and Jason wouldn't be viable options, so I took one for the team. We had a good time at Melino's: I drank water, Tre and Jason did jager bombs while Jason stared at me and told me how beautiful I am. Well, he's observant, you have to give him that! I got everyone home and to bed safe and sound. How they felt in the morning was not my responsibility or concern!
Sunday I woke up to Jason looking for his keys, but I was still prettty beat so I passed out again shortly after he left (I forgot how much it takes out of you to bowl eight games in one day!) I had plans to meet up with my friend Kim for lunch. We went to paralegal school together and she's been splitting time between Latham and White Plains for the last couple of years, so it's been kind of hard to get together for any extended amount of time. She called me that morning and we made plans for later on in the day, so I decided to hit the gym, even though it was the last place I wanted to be. I ran for 28 minutes straight, and I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack when I was done. My legs were killing me and I was exhausted. I took a shower an settled in on the couch to watch my DVR'd shows and wait for Kim to call. She was running WAY behind schedule, but it worked out. We met in Valatie at the Dunkin Donuts (we always used to hit the one in Schenectady between classes so I thought it'd be a great place to go for old times sake) and had a chance to catch up for an hour and a half or so. It wasn't enouhg time, but it was better than nothing! From there I headed up to J's house for the night. He had to work at 4 so I knew it'd be an early night, which worked out really well considering I think I was in bed before he was. He bought a computer this weekend so we had these big plans to set up his Itunes and such, but we both passed out before we had the chance. He did manage to do it today and so far, he hasn't lost any of the songs I put on it. So far.. Doesn't matter much though, since I managed to get my ex, Bill to find me a program that would allow him to take the songs off Itunes onto his computer. It's good to have smart exes.
That's about the extent of it. No time for any pop culture news and notes in this post. I'm too busy watching Colin Farrell work out on the beach. You can see how that would take precedence. One work day down, four to go.
