You know the old saying
J. and I texted for over an hour and a half Sunday night.. Near the end he asked if we could get together for a movie or something? I simply asked "why?" His response was "do I need a reason to ask you?" and my response was "well.. since we broke up.. yes you do!" He explained that he misses hanging out with me and was trying to take the first step towards us being friends. I let him know I appreciate the effort and it's sweet and all, but it's only been three weeks. WAY too soon.. Granted, he's an emotionless robot who can obviously turn his feelings (or lack thereof) off and on, but I am not. Therefore, I'm going to need a little more time before we can be buddy buddy. He understands. Honestly, it didn't matter if he understood, cause that's just the way it is right now. I'm a girl, and still kind of smarting over the break up. That's the way it is! So, someday we'll be friends... just not right now.
Tre and I went to see No Reservations last night. It wasn't bad.. predictable, but there are worse ways to spend a few hours. God, I've said that about a lot of movies lately. Nothing has really blown me away, except for Hairspray.
Time to start the day.. enjoy yours and I'll try to get through mine. Perhaps there'll be more later :).

It was inevitable
Unfortunately, the O's couldn't pull it together and get a win over the Yanks today, but who the hell cares? It was Cal's day and nothing can change it or put a damper on it. As it was said during the introductions of the Hall of Famers, it was pretty obvious that most of Baltimore was in Cooperstown so I'm sure very few O's fans were there to notice the loss!
Speaking of the O's, I was happy to see Paul Bako start this afternoon. At least he knows how to run out a ball. And whose idea was it to have Ramon Hernandez be the running part of a hit and run, considering the fact that he has yet to leg out ANYTHING! Granted, he's a great catcher, but he's certainly no speed demon!
Happy Hall of Fame Day!!!
PS - Just watched Fatal Attraction for the first time ever. Is it just me or did Michael Douglas have the best hair of the 80's or what? It's amazing! Much like White Goodman in Dodgeball. It's a freaking work of art. Also, I had the pleasure of watching Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction and her new show Damages. Yet another stellar show from FX. If you have the chance, definitely try to catch it. I'm totally hooked! My final question from Fatal Attraction is this: How long did it take viewers to figure out if the daughter was a boy or a girl? If no one had ever said "she" during the movie, I wouldn't have had a clue. With the short hair and ambiguous clothing it was kind of a mystery. I mean, in the beginning I wasn't sure if her name was Ellen or Allen! A little creepy, but still a really good flick.
Today's the Day
Yesterday, my friend Nikki and I went to the Mets afternoon game. I had originally gotten the tickets for J. and I, but obviously I felt weird about taking him since well, we haven't really talked since the break up. Nikki is a Mets fan so she was the perfect choice to take his place. We took the train from Hudson, which bought us into Penn Station. We then had to navigate the subway to get us to Shea Stadium. Nikki and I both have a little problem telling our left from our right, so we figured we'd have to ask for help! However, we got our Metro card without incident and managed to take the 1 train to the 7 train to Shea. We were very proud of ourselves and will continue to be, as I'm sure no one thought we could do it on our own. Obviously, we're not known for our directional skills.
We settled into our seats and they were great! I did a good job, if I say so myself. We were underneat the upper deck so if it DID rain, we were covered. However, we sat all the way to the top where we were able to get a gorgeous breeze and with the humidity yesterday, I don't think we could have asked for anything more.
Here was the view from our seats:
Who doesn't want to see David Wright from behind?
El Duque pitched really well, and the Mets won 3-1.
It was an awesome day. The subway ride from Shea was EXCRUCIATING though.. We were sweating our ass off just sitting on the subway. The funniest thing is, we must have been the only car that wasn't air conditioned because everyone that walked into our car commented on how disgusting it was, yet we had a seat so we weren't moving. We went from drunk to sober in a manner of minutes and that is not necessarily a good way to be! We got back to the train station around 8:00 and ended up at Melino's watching the O's-Yanks game which turned out really well for me, even after a ninth inning scare. We were only going in for one drink, but had four, and didn't pay for any of them. Sometimes your local bar has it's up side.
Anyway, I need to take a shower and get myself ready to lose my shit when Cal gets inducted. I'll try to post about it later if I am emotionally able. I hope you all had a great weekend and I'll get back to you later.

Yet another member of my family is delusional
Since we're on the animal tip, my sister's friend is coming to visit next weekend. Apparently, she can't find anyone to watch her dog, so she asked if she could bring him. (NOTE: I do not remember what kind of dog it is. My mom seems to think it's a golden retriever, but I'm not convinced) Anyway, my sister thinks I'm a terrible bitch because I said that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I mean... when you can't find someone to watch your dog, you board them, you don't bring them with you. It wouldn't be that big a deal but we're going to be gone pretty much the whole time she's here, so the poor dog would be alone in a strange house. Sure, the dog is great at your house and places he/she is familiar, but what about a brand new place that he/she's never been before. I'm just skeptical about it and I'm not raising a finger to clean up any mess it makes. My mom tried to put it into perspective and asked what I would say if one of my friends asked the same question and my response would be the same to anyone: "are you fucking kidding me?"I don't know.. I guess I just think it's rude, but obviously, that's just me. Yet another story I'll keep you posted on.
I'm not a crazy animal hater, I swear. I'm just not a big fan of pets that aren't my own, that's all. Happy Hump Day my friends.. Hump 'em if you got 'em...
Camden Yards Send Off
Go to Rob's blog if you want a first hand account. I'm sure it's great, I just haven't gotten over my bitterness to read it for myself. I'm that girl....

My Dad
Hairspray
Letter to Lindsay Lohan
Cocaine may make you skinny, but skinny girls and jail don't mix. You're going to need all your pole dancing skills you learned for "I Know Who Killed Me" to ward off those jailhouse lovers you're going to have once you put on Paris's orange jumpsuit. Honey come on! You're a trainwreck and you're ruining the career your cuteness began. No one wants to hire a crackwhore (except maybe Suge Knight, but it sure as hell isn't for an acting gig, if you know what I mean). Buck up little cowgirl.. go to a REAL rehab facility where they don't let you out to go shopping and get rid of those toxic friends you've made. They only want to be around you for the celebrity anyway. The only reason you're less of a mess than Britney is because you don't have kids.... yet. Best of luck to my favorite TMZ camera whore.
Sincerely,
Kara
PS - Your mug shot was WAY better than Nicole's ;)

Crazy things
I no longer feel dirty
Less than week until Cal's induction ceremony. Am I bitter that I'm not going to be there? Hell yes! However, I will watch it on TV and bawl my brains out in the privacy of my own (or my parents) home. My mom tried to find cheap flights so Dad and I could go down tomorrow for the game where they do a special send off to Cal for the induction ceremony, but she couldn't find anything. What a birthday present THAT would have been!! Speaking of which, I have NO idea what I want for my birthday (August 15). My sister asked for some golf club but I'm lost. I guess I could ask for the Wii since I've now lost my access to it, but it's WAY more expensive than the golf club and I'm afraid I wouldn't use it quite as much as I think.. I don't really NEED anything.. I want lots of things.. but need? Totally different story..
Yet another reason for me to not be single
I really do have way too much free time on my hands.

I don't think I should be single
This is our bar crawl posse at our first stop, the Half Moon
Me, Tre and my friend Jack, in from Worcester
The bird is still sitting outside the window. I went to Wal-Mart on Saturday and got some bird food because I felt bad. I mean.. we're not letting it in the house, but it has been here since Wednesday and shows no real signs of leaving. Everyone that sees it says it looks like a house bird, as we suspected. I looked in the paper, but didn't find anything regarding a missing bird. Guess I'll just have to keep feeding it and hope it doesn't die!
Other than that, I didn't do too much this weekend. I finally got through Domino, which was a pretty interesting movie. I enjoyed it, even though it got shitty reviews. I still have The Motorcycle Diaries, but I haven't felt much like subtitles. My attention span has been pretty lackluster as of late.
Oh my god, I totally forgot what happened on Friday night!! Back story: There was this girl who used to live across the street from my parents. Well, she's a nice girl, but basically a crackhead. Anyway, a few weeks ago she asked my mother to cash a check for her and of course, it bounced. So, my mom has talked to her several times and she keeps saying she's going to bring the money, but never does. Well, I walked into Meadowgreens Friday night and she was sitting directly across the bar from me, with her very big boyfriend. Come to find out, she had also done the exact same thing to my friend Danny, so I ran out to tell him she was there once he got off the golf course. Well, I made him come inside so she could see him (Danny's not very hard to miss) and she ends up calling him over and giving him the money she owes him. Well, she got it from the boyfriend, but she still paid him back. So, I called my mom and told her what happened and she was like "why don't you say something to her?" I REALLY didn't want to but I was pretty peeved that she could sit there and spend money when she screwed over my mom. I really had no intention of saying anything but she went into the bathroom so I took the opportunity to confront her without making a scene. As I get into the bathroom, she's the last person in line and she smiles at me. I basically told her not to smile at me and to shut up because it was my turn to talk. She kept trying to talk to me and I kept having to shut her down. So, I just said (in my meanest voice) that she's fucked my mother over enough times and she has a lot of nerve sitting here spending money when she's done that. She KEPT trying to talk and I finally had to tell her to shut the fuck up. I also am pretty sure I told her that if she didn't bring my mom her money I was going to hunt her down like a dog. She didn't show up that night like she said she would, but our neighbor said she drove by the house twice yesterday. If I didn't scare the ever loving crap out of her it was a miracle.
A woman's work is never done.

Good Intentions
Our friend Fish had called earlier in the day with the invitation of a chicken parm dinner at her house. I'm so low on groceries and cash that tomorrow I'll probably have to whip out the credit card if I want to eat, so of course I said yes! After a great meal, the three of us were sitting around shooting the shit when Fish said "how about we go see Harry Potter?" Well.. everyone wanted to see it and we had an hour or so before it started so it was a go. Tre and I ran home quick, where we encountered a baby bird on our windowsill. I think it thinks it can get into our house so all you can hear is the fluttering of wings as it attempts to do so. We felt bad for it because it's so little. I'm not sure if it can get it's own food or anything, so before we left for the movies we threw pieces of a hot dog roll outside. I don't know if the bird ate it, but Tre told me that the bird is in the same place this morning. I don't have a clue what the allure of it is, but I just hope it doesn't die or anything. It's so tiny!! Anyway, we go to see Harry Potter and I guess we got there pretty early (we all know how I feel about being late for the movies) cause we were the only people in there. Ten minutes later the place filled in and we watched some shitty previews before the movie started. It was good, don't get me wrong. Much darker than the other films, but good. However, I think I just expected more. The climax wasn't very... well... climaxy!! And is it wrong that I kind of enjoyed the angry, brooding Harry Potter? Is that kid legal in real life? If not, I'm gonna start to feel dirty any minute now.
Anyway, got home just in time to wash my face and brush my teeth before hopping into bed to enjoy Rescue Me. I don't know if anyone watches the show, but I almost shit a brick in the first minute when Tommy's wife accidentally left their baby in the store parking lot and he was about to get hit by a garbage truck. I was like.. come on! How much tragedy can one family go through? Thank god it was only a dream. He's another one I feel kind of dirty for finding sexy. I never liked him in his stand up days but for some reason he totally pushes my buttons now. I think it's the firefighter's uniform. That makes sense.
Tonight I'm meeting the girls I used to work with for beers and a burrito up at Bombers. I can't wait. I haven't seen them in a while and I love me some burritos! If only I could get through today. It's been a rough week work wise. My motivation is extremely minimal. So, I'll try to post again tomorrow but I make no promises. My friend Jack is coming into town from Worcester and it looks like we're going to entertain him with a bar crawl on Saturday. I might need to go to bed early on Friday to prepare. Have a good one!

On my way to work
The breakup recovery is going well. I can now tell the story behind the breakup without my eyes welling up with tears, which is one hell of a breakthrough since I'm an easy crier. As I've said, if anyone has any nice, preferably bald (when I say bald I mean like Jason Statham or Vin Diesel, NOT like losing their hair and combing it over bald) friends, feel free to hook me up. I mean.. my ovaries aren't getting any younger. I think I'm gonna try to go for an older man this time. The younger man thing obviously didn't work out, and so not for the reasons I anticipated.
I shit the bed at our softball game last night. I caught really well, but at the plate I fizzled. I had one amazing hit, but the left fielder jumped to snag it. Bastard. Anyway, even after smothering myself with bug spray I got a killer bug bite behind my knee. I'm telling you, this thing is more of a welt than anything else, and the pain from it woke me up at least four times last night. It was almost like a cramping feeling. So weird and painful!
It's been a pretty low key week so that's really all I've got for you now.. Enjoy your hump day and a very Happy Birthday to my friend Amy over in Salisbury, Mass. You may be getting older, but I still love ya anyway!

Nytropalooza 2007
As we all know, I’m not a Boston Red Sox fan (nor will I ever be), but my friend Tim made me go to this site and I laughed my ass off. What can I say? Nothing is funnier than a guy with a thick Boston accent. I don’t know why, but that’s just the way it is.
I’m pretty tired so I’ll cut this post short. Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and if you weren’t at Nytropalooza, you probably should have been.
Me and HiggieThey were bitter about being the shittiest beer pong team at the party. Me and my dance girls, Sue, Kerri and Shannon.
PS - My friend Eryn got engaged this weekend so congratulations go out to her. At least she's considered marriage material, unlike myself (allegedly)!

Free time, or lack thereof
Saturday I got my hair cut. I say it’s nothing really drastic, but it’s pretty short. I cut off most of the sides and back because it was getting on my nerves and I was only keeping it longer for the wedding. Now that it’s over, I can do whatever I want… and I did. I’m sure you’ll see from the many pictures I’m sure I’ll take and post this coming weekend. After that I went to my friend’s brother’s graduation party. There was a little awkward moment when a guy I’d kind of hung out with was the bartender, but it turned out ok. Me, Tre and Jen ended up at Melino’s, but I spent most of the night in the alley next door talking to J. I won’t get into any details, but I will say it was a really good conversation for us. On Sunday I even went to play ball with him and his buddies, which was a good time. I was a little tired (I’ve been sleeping really crappy lately) but it was still a better way to spend the day than I had anticipated. We chatted for a bit afterwards, but nothing big. I went to my parents for dinner and he called me while I was there (my phone was in the car) to ask if I wanted to go to dinner with him. Obviously, I had already eaten so I just called him back to tell him that. We talked for a bit then and as we were getting off the phone he asked if I wanted to have dinner on Tuesday. I already had plans but I suggested Wednesday. We’ll see what happens. I’m REALLY trying not to get my hopes up, but it’s hard not to. He’s coming to the party and even got the day after it off like I’d asked him to. In all honesty, I didn’t expect him to want to come. He’s also insisting that we’re going to the ball game, but the jury is still kind of out on that one. I mean, if things don’t work out I don’t think I’d be too excited to spend a few hours in the car with him and enjoy a ball game. But that’s just me. Anyway, I’ll keep you posted, as dinner has yet to be confirmed so I could be all giddy and schoolgirlish for nothing. I really hope that’s not the case.
Last night I won $3 when Vlad Guerrero won the home run derby so Thanks Vlad!!! That means tonight is the All Star Game. I doubt it’ll start much before I get home from the movies. My friend Lynn (a brand new mom) needs a few hours out so we’re going to see License to Wed. It got shitty reviews but it has John Krasinski in it, so what more can a girl ask for? Anyway, I don’t need to watch the beginning of the All Star Game because there are no Oriole starters. B-Rob should get in at some point, but there’s still plenty of time. He was looking mighty cute at the Home Run Derby last night though. I was pulling for Prince Fielder in the first round, but he couldn’t pull it out. When it got down to four we decided to place bets and when I woke up this morning, I found out that I was the winner. I was pretty much the winner regardless. After all, I was the one holding the money in my sports bra.
It’s been a pretty quiet couple of days and hopefully there’ll be more to tell in the next few. I have a lot going on at night (like getting kegs and going to movies) so I doubt I’ll get to post much before Nytropalooza, but be on the lookout for many pictures and hopefully some good stories. Hope your day isn’t going by as slow as mine!

I didn't mean to do it..
It was nice to have a day off in the middle of the week, and I used it to watch some movies. I got this indie flick “Hard Candy” which was quite good, but just a tad disturbing. It starred Ellen Page (X-3) and Patrick Wilson (Little Children) and it was a story of the internet, pedophilia and revenge. Good stuff. Anyway, later on that afternoon I went to a friend’s party and the weather was atrocious! Don’t get me wrong, I had a good time but the place was wall to wall kids. We all know that I’m trying, but I’m not a real baby person quite yet! I did rock my friend’s son to sleep while she ate so at least I felt like I accomplished something. I left a little after 6 to go home and watch Scarface. I really enjoyed it, but I was a little pissed off that I had to wait until the very end to hear him say “Say hello to my little friend.” I mean.. that’s the whole point of the movie!
One of the ushers from the wedding is calling me. I won’t get into details, but let’s just say he’s not my type. I gave him my phone number because we were all out and we didn’t want to lose anyone. I didn’t think he was going to use it for any other purpose. I haven’t answered the phone, nor do I intend to. Think he’ll get the hint?
TGIF… as much as working 8-5 can be tough, these 8-12 Fridays sure are nice.

A week of firsts
Last night, I used a grill for the first time. I've never grilled in my life and before she left the house, I made my sister teach me how to do so. It's not that hard, I just didn't know how to turn it on and that kind of hinders your ability to cook on it. I made myself an awesome turkey burger and then sat down to watch Top Chef. I was so relaxed, then five minutes in my mom, dad and sister came in and basically harassed me for watching a cooking show, considering it's not something I can do. As far as Top Chef goes, seeing Micah go was not a big deal for me. Granted, there were others that deserved it as much as she did, but her "american classic" was neither american nor classic. She wanted to go home to her child anyway, so it worked out for the best. Thanks to the 4th of July holiday, NOTHING is on that's new this week which really sucks since Rescue Me ended with the Chief and a gun in his mouth. After I got over my shock, I realized there would be no new episode until next week. Bastards.
No progress on the J situation. We had dinner together Sunday night and that went just fine. Just like normal really. However, the afterwards is just completely awkward. We don't really know what to do with each other. He actually kissed me on the cheek when he left. Um.. wtf? So, I kind of called him on it and he said he was still thinking. I let him know that patience is a virtue I don't possess so I'm trying to be good, but I don't know for how much longer I can do so. I don't know. I guess if you really do want to be with someone, you shouldn't have to think this hard about it, know what I'm saying? Ok good.. now stop asking me!
Ball game tonight and then maybe a party tomorrow. We'll see. It sucks to have the 4th in the middle of the week because you can go to a party, but can't get drunk or slightly sloshed cause you have to work the next day! Damn teachers and their cushy schedules.
Enjoy your Tuesday and your holiday!!!!

Wow...
Kate and Brian FINALLY make it official
Me and Tre at the receptionMe, Jen, Fish and Tre on the dance floor at the receptionTre, me and Jackie (obviously another bridesmaid) having a blast at the receptionIf you didn't have a good time at their wedding, you really didn't try hard enough, cause it was an absolute blast! There are so many more pictures I could post to prove it, but I think you get the point! The mani/pedis on Friday were so relaxing (even though I could never understand my nail guy... ) and lunch afterwards (and the cocktails that went with it) were great too. The rehearsal dinner was a bit long and well.. a bit of a clusterfuck, but it worked out well in the end. My hair came out better than I expected, Tre's speech was a bit of a tearjerker for me (only because she got all choked up first and she is not that kind of girl) but there was nothing but laughs at the reception. I have to go wash the eight pounds of hairspray out of my hair, but I wanted to make sure you got a post about it since I've been such a slacker lately. Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!
