Why is it that when someone says to you "have you lost weight?" you initially react happy and say "Why yes I have. Thank you!" Then you think "Oh god.. was I that much of a cow? Am I still?" Your self esteem really just can't win.

Yesterday, I texted one of my best friends from college and told her I was making ghetto mac and cheese. She instantly knew that meant I had no milk, so I was using water instead. Gross? No way... RESOURCEFUL! That's how you know who your friends are - they know the weirdest things about you.

PS - O's beat the Yanks in extra innings after an hour long rain delay. I bet that really chapped Joe Girardi's ass after he begged to have the rain delay start while the Yanks were still up. Sorry Joe - you're playing in Baltimore, not NYC!!! Let's pray for a sweep, although I'd rather they kick this much ass against Boston cause believe it or not, Boston fans are becoming more annoying than Yankee fans.. which is impressive since I live in NY! Let's go O's!!!

Yep.. this is the elusive J, but if you say you saw his picture here, I'll deny it forever! And yes.. I hate the goatee :). This was a picture of us at his niece's birthday party last weekend. He HATES having his picture taken, so I don't really know how it happened and how he actually smiled for the camera.

As much as I enjoy long weekends, they sure do lead to long weeks, don't they?

I had a ball game Friday night (we won) and afterwards, our team went back to Jackson's in Old Chatham, which is our home bar. Anyway, if you don't know the area, Old Chatham is in the middle of nowhere, as is the bar. As I walked into the bar, I noticed an older man sitting at a table by the bar. The more I looked (subtly of course, even though I was probably on my fourth beer on an empty stomach), I realized he looks JUST like my advisor at Castleton State. I couldn't resist going up to him to find out if it really was him... AND IT WAS! Seriously! How small a world is it!? I was too preoccupied with hoping he didn't ask me what I was doing job-wise (he was a marketing professor and with his "guidance" I graduated from CSC with my B.S. in Marketing) to bother asking him why he was there in the first place? I mean, it's not like we were in Albany or anything. It was very surreal.
J ended up having to play in our ball game for a short while on Friday night, as we were a little lacking in the guy department. I was a little concerned. The people that run our team wanted him to play centerfield but I quickly nixed that, as J has no depth perception whatsover! He played right field instead, which I thought was a better fit! Anyway, I know he can hit, so that wasn't much of a concern. He only got two balls hit to him all night and he almost had a good play at first on the first one. The second one: different story. I was catching the ball got hit out to J. Well, there was a guy rounding third and I knew J was going to be coming up throwing which, ordinarily, would be fine. However, the sun was completely blocking my view and I never saw the ball until it was over my head. J does have a good arm and thankfully he overthrew the ball something fierce! A few runs came in and I know he was embarassed, but it didn't really affect the outcome, as we still won by a decent margin. He's still talking about the throw though. I guess if I could throw it that far, I would be too..
After going out on Friday night, J and I spent the day lounging on the couch, watching baseball and softball ALL day long. Seriously.. ALL DAY LONG, minus an hour and a half where J slept and I watched Johnny Dangerously. It was kinda funny and entertaining. I mean, how do you not love Joe Piscopo and fake NY accents? Anyway, after I finally dragged myself to the shower, we went to dinner and the movies, where we saw the new Indiana Jones movie. Let me just say, it's no Raiders of the Lost Ark, but it's got funny parts for sure. I can't say I didn't enjoy it, but I just expected more. For a George Lucas movie, the special effects just didn't seem as good as I thought they would be! That and (spoiler alert) the crazy Roswell subplot did NOT leave me wanting more.. just a touch confused.
Tre and I watched American Gangster last night. When we went to the video store, I asked Tre how long it was. She said 1 hour and 53 minutes. About 2 hours into the movie, I realized the movie was 153 minutes, NOT an hour and 53 minutes. Regardless, I really liked the movie. I think I just have a thing for mean Denzel....
O's beat the Yanks yesterday and right now it's pretty much a home run derby. It's the top of the 6th, with the score tied 8-8. The balls are literally flying out of the park, it's crazy!
I have sucked Tre into the "Lost Footage" of the Real Housewives of New York City. I'm such a bad influence on her.
I think I'm going to the Bahamas in October! One of the couples on my softball team is going on a 4 day (long weekend) cruise and they booked a couple cabins. Well, Tre and I (admittedly, while drunk) asked them for the information and I think we're going to go! I'm so excited, especially because the price is relatively cheap. I mean, I already have the money in my savings, so really all I need to do is save up some more money for the bar bill.
I heard a rumor today that a Planet Fitness is going into the old Grand Union building in Valatie. That would be really awesome, except I'd hate to lose the price I pay at the gym I'm at now. Then again, it'd be so worth it to go to another gym if it's open 24/7 like I think they are. That, and for a few extra bucks a month, you can tan. What more could you ask for?
Speaking of fitness, after my two mile run today I ate an entire box of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese... by myself.... in one sitting... with two hot dogs. I really need help. At least they were lite hot dogs.

I woke up today, thinking it was Friday. That really isn't the way you want to start your day.

However, J brought me a breakfast sandwich from The Coffee Bean, which was phenomenal. He only had to work a few hours today (he'll pay for it by working a few hours tomorrow) so I got breakfast. Yum!

Karma really is a bitch, and I knew I'd jinxed myself the minute I mentioned it on the blog, but what can I say? It's like being a proud parent..

This isn't going to be enough, but sometimes you have to take what you can get.

I FORCED myself to stay up to watch Top Chef, and I'm glad I did. FINALLY, Dale got the boot! It was definitely between him and Lisa (who's been in the bottom often and didn't put out one good dish during restaurant wars) but Dale, as executive chef, should have had more leadership and put out better dishes than he did. While I wanted him to go, I was still surprised that it was him and not Lisa that was ousted. I was also surprised to see him crying in his exit interview. I mean.. I've seen him be emotional, but in a dickheaded type of way... never REAL emotion... very surreal.. Anyway, the final five are Antonia (I'm rooting for her), Richard, Stephanie, Spike and Lisa. We'll find out next week who makes it to the Final Four!

I don't watch Idol, but in the episodes I caught, I really enjoyed David Cook so I'm glad he was named the winner. I think he'll sell more albums than that Archuleta kid, although he is also very talented. How much egg did the judges have on their face though, since the night before they'd basically declared David Archuleta the winner?! I wonder if he got a spanking from his overbearing father? Poor kid...

Is this the slowest week ever, or what?

I got a bit ahead of myself in yesterday's post by saying the O's were facing the Yanks, then the Sox this week. That's next week. This week it's the Yanks and the Rays and they got off to a great start last night by shellacking the Yanks 12-2... and not letting Mussina get out of the first inning. I'm pretty sure that would be one of the worst starts of his career.. or for his sake, I hope it was! That's all I'm going to say, as I've been an O's fan long enough to know the tide can turn pretty damn quickly!

Why do people who are on vacation always want to tell you how great it is where they are? My parents are in Myrtle Beach and my mom keeps calling to make sure the weather up here isn't better than the weather there. Yeah.. it's not, which means it was a great week for them to go on vacation, but still makes me a little bitter!

In a not so shocker, Kristi Yamaguchi took home the mirrorball trophy on Dancing with the Stars and has been touted as the best contestant ever! That statement, of course, has started the rumor that there'll soon be an all star season of DWTS. I'm not sure how I feel about it, as most "all star" contestants have already made their great leaps and bounds. It's not as much fun if you already know how far they've come.

J surprise me last night by kinda making plans, and we went here for dinner. We had heard about it a while ago, but since J's roommate is home, I don't really spend all that much time there (he kinda screws up my morning routine) during the week. Well, J is watching his brother's dogs (which is a whole 'nother story) so we went there for dinner then came home to watch a movie. We watched Shoot 'Em Up, which was.. interesting. I'll be honest.. it wasn't my first choice and I was more interested in watching the O's - Yanks game, so I chose it because it was the shortest of the ones J wanted to watch. Anyway, he had to work at 4 so we were in bed around 10. After my non sleeping Saturday night there, I was so happy to take my Ambien and pray it worked. It did.. It was like the dogs weren't even there. It wasn't the best night of sleep I've had, but better than I expected.

My sister had to wear pants to the gym tonight because she accidentally wore two different sneakers to the gym. She made me promise not to laugh, but I couldn't help it. Speaking of my sister, I got a call on my cell phone from a boy.... for her. I told her that if she gets drunk and gives out a fake number, MAKE SURE IT'S NOT MINE!!!

If there's one thing in the world I hate, it's condescending people. I had to call this government office today because they sent back a document we sent them. The reason they sent it back was ridiculous, as the information they're looking for is already in the document. Anyway, the woman I get on the phone is instantly bitchy and then talks to me like I'm a five year old. When I explain to her that the information wants is already in there, she continues to tell me how I can make it more.... obvious. It probably didn't help when I said "so, basically you want me to do your job for you, right?" Oops.. Yeah... I hate condescending people.

I'm getting a 401K... I'm all grown up :)

This theory was mentioned on both The Big Bang Theory and Bones season finales. I watched BBT first and found the concept interesting, but when they mentioned it the same night on Bones, I wondered if there had been a crossover in writers... but I'm pretty sure it was just a coincidence.

So one is officially a shotgun wedding, the other... we're not quite sure yet.. but hey.. ya gotta love love, right?

That's the best I can do.... it's getting late, I'm getting tired, and I need to finish watching A Home at the End of the the World. I should never force myself to watch a movie, just so I can say I watched it.. I never end up paying close enough attention or even enjoying it, which is so unlike me. Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed your hump day and the week goes by quicker than mine has so far.

I had great intentions. I turned the computer on last night (which takes forever) and even was sitting on the blogger site to type.. Then things got in the way. I had every intention of posting first thing this morning but when I got to work, the internet was down. It just came back up, but it's not going to give me enough "alone" time to do what I have to do so I apologize for being a terrible TERRIBLE blog slacker.

Quickly: Whitney won America's Next Top Model, which made me so happy.. I even let out a little shriek when she won, much like she did. It's about time a big girl (big as in size 6, not 2) took the crown.

My favorite freak of nature, Andrew, was ousted from Top Chef this week. I hated to admit that it really was his time to go, but I liked his outrageousness and the fact that he REALLY thought he was the best. Sushi? As a filling lunch for cops? Nutritious, yes? Filling? Hell no! Granted, Lisa KINDA threw him under the bus, but the judges already knew he was there. Unfortunately for him, the Judges are kind of sticklers for that "following the rules" thing..

Talk about stealing thunder: Andy proposed to Angela on the season finale of The Office, before Jim could get through his own elaborate plan of proposing to Pam.. WTF? Best ending ever though, when someone (I think it was Phyllis) walks in on Angela and Dwight getting it on in the office after said proposal.

O's swept the Sox in a two game set last week and took two of three from the Nats at Camden Yards this past weekend. It's a tough week as we start a series against the Yanks tonight, and the Sox again later this week.

The weekend was full of children's birthday parties and baby showers, all of which were way less painful than I had originally anticipated. No offense, but I'm a little "kidded" out..

Kathy Griffin and her man, one of the co-founders of Apple, have broken up. Apparently that happened when his secretary called Kathy to tell her he was already married. I feel bad for her, but I can't wait for the jokes at his expense when she comes to town on the 20th of June!

I was transfixed by this informercial the other day, and I'm still shocked I didn't buy it (yet). I mean.. if Tony Dovolani says it works, it must!

Dancing with the Stars was basically a Kristi lovefest last night, so it's highly possible that she'll win, although I hated her freestyle for some reason. She's amazing, and I feel bad for the guys cause while they ARE doing well, they are just not at the same level as she is. We will find out tonight who takes home the coveted mirrorball trophy!

I have no intentions of doing so, but I'm so afraid I'm going to get sucked into Living Lohan and Denise Richards new reality show on E! I have reality show issues.. I know.. Damn you E!!! You're starting to be my new Bravo!!

I don't know if anyone has ever seen American Anthem, but it is the BEST gymnastics movie ever made. Oh yeah.. I said it. I sure do wish I had it on DVD, but I'm afraid I haven't seen it in years as I only have it on VHS and it's taped off FX. Nice thing is, there's a commercial with Cal Ripken in it during the programming. Anyway, let's just say Mitch Gaylord has aged well and that is just one more reason to love him.

That's all I can get out for now.. I'll keep trying if you keep reading...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELL!!!! Today is my babysitter (obviously not now, but when I was a kid) and friend Shell's birthday. I'll respect her age and not tell everyone what it is, but I wanted to wish her a very happy birthday since she is one of the blog's faithful readers!!

Ever hear a song and you don't know why, but you have to sing it at the top of your lungs? That happened to me on the way to work this morning. The song: The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia (the Reba McEntire version). I felt the strange need to belt it out while in my car this morning. I was slightly ashamed of myself, but proud that I knew all the words... Weird..

J forced me to watch Real Genius last night. I say forced because there were a million other movies I would rather have watched, but I was pleasantly surprised. GREAT 80's soundtrack and a comical Val Kilmer. Near the end I started to doze off, but I was still happy with it and surprised I've never seen it before. Funniest thing was, the guy who played Uncle Rico in Napoleon Dynamite had a role in the movie. I mean.. it's 23 years old, who knew he was in the business that long?

The O's defeated the Red Sox 5-4 last night. I know nothing more about the game, but isn't the a winning score enough these days? Oh wait.. I did read something about Melvin Mora hurting himself in the pregame warmup, but I haven't found out anything specific. Who cares? (not about Melvin of course.. I sure do!) At least we won!!!

I have got to stop eating. I've realized I've been stuffing my face lately and it's not a good thing. My sister is doing this Isagenix diet, which I am considering doing. It's similar to the Medifast thing I did, but you can eat organic food so it's a little less limiting. You only eat shakes and you cleanse your body a few times during it. Tre is doing the 30 day but a lot of our friends are doing the 9 day. There's more cleansing involved, but if you're looking for a quick drop of pounds, it's a good thing. I'm thinking about the 9 day myself. 30 days is a VERY long time!! We'll see how she does on it, then I'll make my decision. As usual, it's not cheap so it's something you really have to think long and hard about. I should just suck it up and do it, but it's summer and lots of things are going on, giving me MANY excuses to put it off!

Speaking of summer, it's f'n gorgeous outside! I can't wait to get out of here. I'm heading to my cousin's modified softball game, then my own ball game. Tre is having her team over at the house for a bbq so I'm not all that upset that I'm not going to be there. However, tonight is the season finale of America's Next Top Model and somehow I'm going to have to watch it when I get home or else I'll just learn about the winner on the internet, which I totally want to avoid. Seriously, what was the world like without the internet and DVR?

Time for me to put my nose to the grindstone... Remember.. it's hump day, so do your thing if you get the opportunity..

I'll get to the good stuff (Ya know... TV and celebrity gossip) but first I have a dilemma: I really like my job. I really like my boss and my co-workers. However, I'm not 100% sure my boss needs me as much as she initially thought, hence, I'm a touch bored at times. Other times.. way more than a touch. I'm not actively looking for a job, beyond sending back in the recruitment letters sent to me by the State (none of which have yielded any fruit as of yet). So, I've been here a year and it's time for me to decide if I want to get into the office retirement plan. I have NOTHING as far as retirement goes, so I know it's something I need to do, but I don't want to waste anyone's time or money. I mean.. I could be here two months, two years, who knows? So I guess it's not really an issue as I should probably just sign up and continue to hide my lust for state employment, yet I feel guilty about doing so. I know I don't go to church, but damn I've got that catholic guilt thing going on like it's nobody's business! If anyone has any advice, I'll gladly take it, even though it looks like I've already talked myself into my decision!

The Hills - anticlimactic. I could have figured it all out (although I was slightly surprised at Heidi f'ing up her job to go back to LA with Spencer) just from the commercials, but I expected more. That and I thought it was an hour long show. The half hour just didn't do it for me. I think new episodes will be coming in August, so this is NOT the end of the show (yay!)

Dancing with the Stars - I forgot to vote today, but I'm pretty sure Marisa Jaret Winokur will get the boot. She's done well, but her dances were just not up to the caliber of the other competitors. Side note: There was a guy in A Chorus Line that could have been the twin brother of her partner, Tony Dovolani.... and that is a GOOD thing if you know what I'm saying. Anyway, next week is the final and then we'll see if Kristi proves to be the front runner she was all season (ya know.. if she doesn't unexpectedly see the red light tonight).

Reaper has been renewed by the CW, but there's still no word on whether ABC will renew October Road - at least not for the Fall :(. That can't happen. I NEED to know who Sam's real father is, even though I think it's Eddie Latekka... As far as Reaper goes, the show has really been great lately, I just wish they'd pick a night! The CW keeps switching it from Tuesday to Thursday (which is where it looks to be going) which really sucks cause I do NOT have the DVR space to tape that, Grey's Anatomy AND The Office... whatever will I do!?

I have to admit, this brought a smile to my face and fond memories of Madame Trash Heap.

I watched How I Met Your Mother last night and if I thought I could fit into any of Lilly's clothes, I'd check out Marshall and Lilly's auction (if you check out this site, be prepared.. there's lots of traffic so it takes a while to load). Last night was Britney Spears' second appearance on the show and I really hope they don't bring her back for a third appearance, even though they left the door open to do so. It's just not worth it..

Happy Birthday to my friend Jess over in Mass... I'm looking forward to heading her way in July for a girlie weekend on the beach (and yes.. we had to plan it in January just to make the effort to get more than two girls to go.. pathetic).

Wow...

Seriously... how beautiful is her dress?

Ok.. that's it for today. I have to run and watch Real Genius.... and pray J stays up past 9:00.. He FINALLY gets to sleep in and work at 6 so I might not have to take my Ambien at 8:30 to keep up with him. Enjoy your Tuesday night!

Monday, May 12, 2008

I forgot all about it: The Trivia Night went really well on Thursday night. My sister had five people, so that left me out. Therefore, J and I formed our own team. We were in third place until the final, when we wagered all our points, as did most of the other teams. Only ONE team didn't, and of course, they won, even though everyone got hte last quesiton wrong. The nice thing was because of that, the money that was supposed to go to the second and third place teams went back to charity. The food was great, and I won three prizes! They were all off of J's strand of tickets, but he doesn't need to know that, even though he's insisting that was the case. After that, he and I went to the Elks Club to hang out with some of his friends and continued our streak of great trivia on the "crack machine" there. We were out way later than I wanted to be, but if I hadn't been out that late I would not have seen Huey Lewis on Jay Leno, so it worked out.

Friday night was pretty uneventful: J and I just went to dinner with my sister and a few of our friends and had a few drinks. I had a lot to do on Saturday so I didn't want to be out too late. However, J accompanied me to Shop-Rite on our way home from the Val-Kin and I was pretty surprised at the looks we got. Like people don't shop at 11:30 on a Friday!? I had to get stuff for my candle party, and Hudson is a mess on Saturdays so I wanted to make sure it was already done. The candle party was a success, which is great because I really didn't expect much. I had sent invites out to like.. 50 people and not only did I get like.. 1o people (including my family) but lots of people didn't even bother to RSVP. I mean.. come on.. it's the polite thing to do! My friend Stephanie was the consultant and it looks like I'll be getting quite a bit of free stuff. I only did it as a favor to her, but it worked out really well for me. After the party I was kind of tired, so I basically caught up on the stuff I DVR'd last week and went to bed kinda early. I could have gone to a party with J at his Aunt and Uncle's, but there was a bit of a misunderstanding about that and I really didn't feel well enough to go anyway. I was sure I had a fever, but one never surfaced.

Sunday morning, my friend Jen and I went up to Albany to sub on a softball team. It turned out to be fun, even though we lost and it was my first time with shin guards on while catching. I don't like them, but I guess I'd rather be uncomfortable for an hour and a half rather than breaking my knee or something. We then celebrated Mother's Day by heading to my parent's house for dinner. I ended the night FINALLY watching The United States of Leland, which was an interesting and kind of good movie. Lots of known stars in it also.

Nikki's jig is up on Top Chef. It was only a matter of time (as I'm sure I've mentioned before) but she really shot herself in the foot by not taking responsibility on her team. Granted, I wanted to see Dale go, just because he's a big honking asshole, but she really deserved it. The team chose to do Italian food, which because she's Italian is apparently her specialty, but she can't pull it off! She's made homemade pasta three times but never pulls it off. She's just gotten lucky that someone else was always worse than her. Next week looks to be a doozy, as there's backstabbing aplenty!

I know there's probably lots of celeb news, but it might have to wait until tomorrow. I have two shows taping and two to watch (Big Ban Theory and How I Met Your Mother) so I've gotta wrap this up so I can do so. I know.. priorities. .Lots of good TV on tonight, including the finale of The Hills. Ok.. so maybe it's not GOOD TV.. but I adore it! I'll try to catch up tomorrow...
Well.. the O's are no longer in first (or second) but we're still above .500. That's something! Better stay that way too, if Melvin Mora wants to keep feeding his kids!

I don't have much time so I'll try to sum it up as quickly and easily as possible...

A Chorus Line was PHENOMENAL! I swear, I teared up like three times, but I basically held it together. I can't help it. It's my favorite show and I never ever thought I'd get the chance to see it on Broadway and now I have. My mom had a really good time, blisters and all. We didn't have much time to walk around but we got to see Times Square and what we thought was a commercial shooting in Bryant Park. We had a great (and cheap) lunch at Simply Pasta (check it out if you're up and around 42nd Street) and then caught the show. Didn't see any famous people, but it was sooooo worth it. Mario Lopez was actually quite good, and he ended up walking up and down my aisle through the whole show. If I had leapt over the women sitting next to mom and I, I could have touched him. The woman that played Cassie didn't thrill me, but she's won a Tony so who am I to judge? My mom insisted she's never going ot the city with me again, because every single black man that passed us, looked at my ass. What can I say? They LOVE the junk in the trunk and I thank them for their appreciation! It was a long, tiring day but it was a really good time. Don't know how I'll top it next year. I think since I spearheaded this Mother's Day, Tre is in charge next year.

Tuesday night was my first night with Ambien and it was a doozy! I crashed out quickly and HARD.. I was not awake for this (or I don't remember it) but I usually set my alarm for J and let it go twice before I heave him out of bed. Apparently it went off once and I violently shut it off. All I remember is hearing his cell phone alarm (which is his last line of defense) and that's it. I don't remember him getting up, I don't remember him leaving or anything. He actually called me when he got out of work to make sure I woke up. Let me tell you something, if I can sleep like that, sign me up for the Ambien Train! Therefore, I was really looking forward to taking it last night. I was already tired, so I figured I'd crash pretty hard again. Not so much. I woke up a little after 2:00 and while I did go back to sleep, I thought the point was that I wouldn't wake up. I don't know.. I guess I need to give it some more time before I make a decision on it, but if the first night was any indication, I might just be in love..

Tonight is the American Cancer Society Trivia Night I've been talking about for the last week. However, I've spent so much time trying to recruit people to go, that I neglected to find a team for myself. Neither J nor I have anyone to play with, so we might just have to make our own team. We shall see what happens. Regardless, I'm looking forward to a fun night of trivia with my friends for a good cause. Remember, all are welcome, whether you want to play trivia or not.

I did manage to watch America's Next Top Model, which left the final three as Anya, Fatima and Whitney. Anya gets on my nerves and I doubt she'll make the fina cause she'll never be able to talk her way through a Cover Girl commercial. Fatima might win, but I really haven't liked her from the get to and I kinda want Whitney to win for all the fatties. Plus, I've liked her the best. Anyway, the finale is next week and then there'll be one less show for my DVR to tape. But then So You Think You Can Dance will start and shoot it all to hell.. Woo hoo!!!!

My day of leisure has been cut short, so I've got to get some work done and make the day go by. Hope to get back with some more information tomorrow so enjoy your Thursday!

Tuesday, May 06, 2008

Last night I went to Savannah's, which is the new home of my friends Sue and Pete. I say "new home" but I mean new business venture, as they're part owners. It's located at 1 South Pearl Street in Albany, where they have great food and awesome bands (usually Thursday - Saturday). Therefore, don't be surprised if that's where I want to go when we're out in Albany. Gotta bring people in to patronize the friends, don't you think? Check it out if you're in the area.

It's dead at work this week and I've been a MAJOR slacker today so I'm trying to get as much into this post as I can in a very short amount of time:

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are engaged.. I kinda liked him with Alanis Morissette, who is basically the anti-Scarlett... Interesting, don'tcha think? That, and last week they were publicly fighting on the streets of Boston. I love Hollywood..

Angela Kinsey (Angela on The Office) had her baby on Saturday. Now next season she won't have to keep hiding behind countertops and pocketbooks. Congratulations!!!

Here's another one for fans of The Office.

There could be a sequel to Anchorman in the works. I LOVE Anchorman, but it's rare that the sequel ever compares... that scares me. Then again, I thought the movie was dumb the first time I saw it, and now I LOVE it.. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

J and I are going to see Iron Man tonight, which I'm actually looking forward to it, even though it's NOT a biography of Cal Ripken... (like I could let that one slide.. give me a break). The movie has already made a ridiculous amount of money and apparently it's fun for boys AND girls.. I'll be the judge of that! I admit, when I first heard about it, I told J that was one he'd need to see with his buddies. However, I saw the trailers and was instantly intrigued. That, and I just love it when Robert Downey Jr is all sarcastic and snarky..

Don't go looking for a post tomorrow cause I'll be in NYC with my mom! As I've mentioned, I'm taking her to the city to see A Chorus Line on Broadway, which really, is just as much a present for me as it is for her. Mario Lopez is in it and if he skips the performance to stay in LA a little longer for the 100th DWTS show, I might seriously hunt him down and make him apologize to my mom. That's not out of line, is it?

Speaking of DWTS - Cristian seriously rocked out with his cock out.. Not literally, but good lord the man should have danced with one arm for the whole show. He's sitting atop the leaderboard after impressing on both his dances! Kristi and Jason both took hits on their second dances, but it's more than likely still going to be a toss up between Mario and Marisa. At this point, I don't really care which of them goes although we all know how I feel about Karina.. and if Mario Lopez doesn't show up tomorrow, it'll give me just one more reason to hate her. And oh yeah.. I want to be Edyta Sliwinska when I grow up.. who do I have to get in touch with to make that happen? Apparently today is her b'day, so Happy Birthday to Edyta!!!

I've slacked off more than normal today, so I need to get a move on. Enjoy your night and I'll be back on Thursday with some movie and musical reviews! Happy Early Hump Day!

Yeah... I have stories..

Friday night, J and I went to dinner, then to his brother's house to play Rock Band, as per usual. I don't know if I've ever really mentioned it, but J does NOT do PDA. If I can get him to acknowledge we're a couple in public, it's a big deal. He's not a douchebag about it and I'm not saying I want you to make out with me in the aisle at Target, but a little something-something never killed anyone. Anyway, as I was playing the game, he actually kissed me... in front of people.. His brother actually dropped his drumsticks and said "Wow.. I've never seen you kiss her before." My response was "I'm just as shocked as you are!" So now that he made a big deal out of it you KNOW it's not going to happen again! Oh well, it was good while it lasted ;).

We'd been playing Rockband for quite some time (and drinking quite a bit - beer for me, Gentleman Jack for J) when J disappears. His friend and I went looking for him and I catch him coming out of the bathroom. His friend leaves and J kisses me (remember kids.. no on else was around) and I asked him if he was ok and where he had been. He then proceeds to tell me, he was throwing up. Ewwwww. I'm mortified and want to puke myself because I just kissed him. He then asks me if I could tell he'd been puking and I have to admit, I couldn't. He tells me this is because he knew I would want to kiss him (arrogant SOB) so he rinsed his mouth out with hand soap he found in the bathroom. He was so incredibly proud that he thought of it and kept telling me how he'd never done that for anyone else before. Oh yeah.. that's my boyfriend. Can you feel the love?

Saturday night, Tre and I hit Meadowgreens for the Kentucky Derby and the 80's Dance Party. We had a great time and I danced my tooshie off to a few 80's faves. Maureen danced with me and proceeded to tell me an amusing story including bodyguards and Little Debbie Snack Cakes (let's just say if you want to be "taken care of," offer up some Fudge Rounds). It got to be around 11:00 and Tre had done one too many Jager Bomb shots so I decided it was time to go. I called my mom and she picked us up shortly after. It was nice to get home kinda early since we had a ball game this morning. Let me just say, it was NOT easy to get Tre out of bed for the game! Good thing I did though, as she was our fourth girl. Anyway, we won our first game of the year and then hung out afterwards, as the weather got progressively nicer. When softball starts, it always reminds me how much fun I have with my team. So, here I am, sitting on my couch, catching up on my shows from the past week, doing my laundry and hoping my thighs stop burning. When softball starts I also forget how much catching makes my muscles sore!

News from the doctor is this: He prescribed me Ambien.. He thinks my laundry list of problems might stem from my lack of sleep. It's not that I don't sleep.. I do. I just wake up a lot during the night and I honestly never thought of that making me tired, since I rarely end up staying awake for more than a few minutes. Then last night, I woke up four times and it made me wonder. So, I'm going to fill the prescription and see what happens. If that doesn't help me, we'll do bloodwork to see if anything is wrong with my thyroid, iron and/or B12 levels. Only time (and some drugs) will tell.

Last night Tre and I went to Joe's for their wing night. They do $.25 wings, but we decided to order off their wing menu and I got butter and garlic parmesan wings. OMG they were sooooo good! Well worth the not $.25 price, that's for sure. I never go to Joe's, even though it's right down the street from my house. I guess you might say I'm not always sure what kind of crowd it will be. Well, last night people came out of the woodwork! I saw a guy that used to go to my gym, who I hadn't seen in at least a year.. He showed me a picture of his baby so I guess he's been busy. Then, I ran into another guy, whose Grandmother lives down the street from me. He went to one of the neighboring high schools and I was in complete love with him when I was younger. He lived in California for a while, but now he's back in town. So, we chatted for a bit and as we left he told me that I looked good. Um.. Yeah thanks! I've only been waiting to hear THAT for 20 years... ;) Still looks good though, I'll tell you that. Amazingly, I was able to hide the drool pouring out of my mouth, so that was a plus.

Busy weekend on tap.. tonight J and I are going to dinner to celebrate my first real Friday that I don't have to bowl (and am not busy). After that, we're headed to his brother's house to play Rock Band and Mario Kart. Who ever thought I'd spend a Friday night playing video games? I sure as hell didn't? At least there's beer involved. Saturday is the Kentucky Derby so I'll be shuffling between a friend's party and my cousin's table at Meadowgreens. Can't get too drunk though, as we have our first ball game on Sunday morning (unless the rain comes in). If it doesn't, my other cousin's son has his first communion, so regardless, things are going on! Somewhere in there I'd like to do my laundry and head to the mall to get some makeup. I've been using Bare Minerals for a year or so, and it's just gotten to the point where I think it irritates my skin. I have really sensitive, dry skin as it is and I don't think putting powder on it is helping. That, and it doesn't cover as well as I need it to sometimes. My face gets VERY red and if I cover it up, it looks like I'm wearing a Kabuki mask. Not attractive. Anyway, my mom had a sample of some liquid makeup from Lancome and when I put it on today, my whole face felt better. So, I'd like to run to the mall and see if I can find one that's right for me, but it doesn't look like I'll have enough free time for that. Maybe some day next week instead.

As much as I enjoyed listening to him (as we all know, I'm a sucker for a man with an accent) it was Mark's turn to leave on Top Chef. His vegetable curry and his real thought that Chef Tom Collichio didn't like him, turned off the judges and sent him packing. However, Lisa's dismal attitude and underseasoned chicken put her in the bottom, along with Stephanie, who was there for the second week in a row. The big winner was Antonia, who not only aced the quickfire, but also won the week's challenge. Previews for next week included "wedding wars" where the chefs look dead on their feet, as they have to cook for 14 hours. Fatigue and food do NOT go well together so I'm sure there'll be plenty of blow ups. Woo hoo!

My new fave (after Claire got the boot) Katarzyna was let go from ANTM because of her lack of personality. If I were her, I would have left the room and yelled to Tyra the correct way to say my name, cause Tyra butchered that shit all season, no matter how many times Kat tried to tell Tyra the correct pronunciation. 4 girls remain...

Addison came back and I laughed my ass off for the whole episode of Grey's Anatomy.. Ok.. maybe not the WHOLE episode. After all, it's a hospital drama so people die and such, but there were some funny exchanges between Izzie and George, and Addison bought up some interesting observations while she was back at Seattle Grace. So the real question is, did Hahn turn down McSteamy because he's a douche or because she'd rather get it on with Callie? Stay tuned!

Enjoy your weekend and bet wisely!!!
One month in and we're ahead of the Yankees.. I know it's too good to last, but I'm content with it for now..

So, I've decided to turn over a new leaf since today is the first day of May.... NO MORE TITLES.. I spend more time trying to think of a title than I do posting, so hopefully it's a good leaf to turn over.

Today was the first day in my entire life that I put over $40 in gas in my car. Good lord I miss the days when I was in college - $.99 a gallon. Wow.. I think I just aged 40 years by making that statement.. Next thing you know I'll be telling my friends kids how I used to have to walk to school uphill both ways, barefoot in the snow.

I'm only working a half day today (yay) because I have a doctor's appointment. Hopefully he'll address the multitude of problems I've been having lately, including (but not limited to) headaches, extreme fatigue and a bloodshot eye. I'll be shocked if I don't have prescriptions for a cat scan and bloodwork by the time I leave.

I beat Guitar Hero on the easy level last night however, I'm not quite sure I'm ready to move on to Medium. They add another note (finger) and more notes. Problem is, I have REALLY small hands (not like a carnie or anything, but pretty small) so it's really hard for me to move my fingers over to reach the new note. Guess that just means more practice!

I hope to have a night at home tonight, so I'll try to find more stuff to post later. I know, I've been saying that for days, but my nights have kind of gotten away from me lately (hence the fatigue).

Words of advice: Wait for Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay to come out on DVD.. it's not as good as the first one and I saw way too much penis and vag than I needed.. Two words: bottomless party..
