1. Cal Ripken on David Letterman
2. Chris Daughtry on Craig Ferguson
3. My fleeting youth
I found a gray hair this morning. It’s my first. I should have just called in sick. Normally, I have blonde highlights in my hair, so if I did have a gray hair, you probably wouldn’t be able to see it. Well, my hair has been pretty dark as of late, so it stuck out like a sore thumb. I was blowdrying my hair like normal and the light hit it just right. I didn’t rip it out, as it might just be my eyes playing tricks on me.
How long do you think it’ll be before there are clips of Cal and Chris on YouTube? I’m pretty pissed I knew nothing about their television appearances. Way to go with the publicity! Not that it matters. I was out like a light by that time last night. As a matter of fact, my friend Amy texted me around 11:30 because Cal was hawking bats on QVC. Got that text this morning. Yep, I normally turn my phone off when I go to bed on school nights. Weekends, not all the time. Granted, I don’t have a land line so I should probably keep it on at all times in case there’s an emergency, but I haven’t gotten there yet. Anyway, I had gone to the gym last night and to make up for my Applebee’s mishap, I was on the elliptical for an hour, and the treadmill for 30 minutes. My legs feel like they’re going to fall off. I came home, made a quick dinner, packed my bag for tonight (dance class) and fell into bed. I forced myself to stay awake for Top Chef, which was only an OK episode (in my opinion).
The Quickfire Challenge was for the chefs to make a snack food, and they had three condiments to work with - Mayonnaise, Italian Dressing and BBQ Sauce. I was shocked at how many of the chefs were big fans of mayo! I can never remember what they make, but the mohawked guest judge chose Sam and Marcel as the winners. Oh yes, there were two winners. This is because the Challenge was to have two teams, each of whom is going to open a restaurant in less than 24 hours. Sam chooses Ilan and Mike; Marcel has Elia and Cliff. You can tell Cliff was none too pleased to get Marcel, but such is life. The boys name their Italian restaurant Lalalina (after their significant others - YEP, Ilan is straight.. I never was real sure until last week when he started bitch slapping Marcel with the virgin talk… gay men don’t do that) and the other group goes with MEC (their initials) for their upscale diner. Honestly, I was surprised they went with the diner concept, and that Marcel was so very open to it. I would think he’d want a foam showcase, but maybe he’s grown up. Cliff decides he wants to be up front, even though Elia has experience with it and expressed a great interest in doing it (HELLO FORESHADOWING) Anyway, the boys were nervous, as they’ve had Elia’s burgers and apparently they are to die for! The designers the groups were given didn’t really do too much, or at least waited until the last possible minute to do.. well.. anything! Elia got to see a side of Cliff she didn’t like when he continuously raised his voice at her. Not a good sign. Anyway, the customers came in and most chose Lalalina because “they can get a burger anywhere.” Um.. not THE BEST BURGER!!! Cliff kept the judges waiting way too long when they showed up at MEC and left a very bad impression on them with his “front of the house” skills. They thought the food was ok, but I think it could have been better had Cliff served it in a timely manner. The judges then head to Lalalina and are surprised to find the Italian restaurant doesn’t have a wine list. BIG no-no! Like.. Clay Aiken/Kelly Ripa no-no! Then, there is an olive pit on their table. Yeah.. the judges are insanely impressed at this point. Apparently Ilan wasn’t the best choice for front of the house either, as his skills didn’t impress the judges one bit. At the Judges’ Table, they can’t come to a conclusion over who won. It seems they’re all just trying to stay afloat and no one is really trying to win. So, the Judges bring each team in for a little pow-wow before they decide who will go home. Once they bring both teams in, Elia is sent out of the room first for taking a risk on the diner idea, and doing a lot of the work. Ilan and Marcel soon follow.. not necessarily because they did a good job, but mainly because they prepared the only dishes the judges found appetizing. So.. Sam, Cliff and Michael are on the chopping block. I’m pretty much thinking it’s between Cliff and Michael as Cliff was just horrible at everything he did, and Michael didn’t seem to do anything. His big flaw was not using up his entire budget at the supply store, although I don’t think you can blame him for that. I mean.. once the guys tell you they can’t afford wine, why would you buy wine glasses? Really, it seemed like Michael was getting in the way more than anything else, so it was his time to go home. I think he knew it was coming. I mean, the only real good dishes he made were when he was drugged up! But hey.. he made Top Chef history and he always had a smile on his face. Next week looks to be a STELLAR episode, as it looks like two people will be kicked off to bring us down to the final 3 in Hawaii. That is, unless they pull a Project Runway and use a decoy. It seems the rest of the group might do something a little mean to Marcel (shocker) and the episode looks to be a juicy one. I am already counting down the minutes!
Time to fake some work. Gossip and other such things will come along later this afternoon…
PS - Happy Birthday to my friend Craig... Love and miss you lots!!!

Does this disturb anyone but me?
The demise (well.. one reason for it) of Marilyn Manson and Dita Von Teese’s marriage was due to his burgeoning relationship with Evan Rachel Wood. If this is true, then I find it to be insanely disturbing. If it’s not true, I still find it insanely disturbing! The girl is exactly half his age, for one thing. Granted, she’s 19 and can make her own decisions, but what woman find attractive about this man, I’ll never know. Perhaps she’s going through this weird “I need to be like my character in Thirteen” rebellion. Who knows? The other rumor going around is that Lindsey Lohan was constantly calling the Manson/Von Teese residence because she wanted Manson to go out partying with her. Apparently he’s a hell of a cocktail party entertainer. All I can say is, WTF? All of you beautiful women (Rose McGowan included) can, and hopefully will, do better.
In Office news, it’s been confirmed that Joss Whedon (of Buffy fame) has been tapped to direct an episode. I can only imagine what kind of episode it will be. Maybe no one will speak, or maybe Pam will slaughter Angela. Either way, how can it be bad? Immediately following his installment, there’ll be one directed by J.J. Abrams, one of the creators of Lost. Those are going to be two crazy weeks in Scranton, that’s for damn sure!
George Michael has pled innocent to charges of being unfit to drive and possessing marijuana that stem from an incident where police found him passed out in his car and blocking an intersection in London. He was not in court, but his attorney passed on the plea. She also asked that the charges be dropped as his blood sample was taken illegally. We’ll have to wait until the next hearing to see what happens with that. I adore George Michael. His greatest hits is one of m favorite cd’s. I just wish he could get his shit together. Plus, shouldn’t all these famous people with DWI’s and the like, have a driver, or some sort of handler that would at least call them a cab? I just don’t get it.
If you can believe it, there was snow on the ground this morning! I truly believe this is the first time all winter there was more than a slight dusting of snow on the ground. I even slid a little pulling out of J’s brother’s driveway. Is it sad that it made me kinda happy? I mean.. I love all this nice weather as much as the next guy or girl, but it really is winter and if something doesn’t happen soon I can just see some crazy freak storm happening as I’m trying to leave for Ireland. Speaking of which, I spent all day looking for flights and found a non-stop both there and back. However, it didn’t occur to me until I told my traveling buddy about it, that we are flying back into the States on Friday the 13th. I’m not really a superstitious person, but it does freak me out a bit. Then again, Crystal is the girl who scheduled her latest child’s C-section on Friday the 13th, so I think it’ll probably work out. Regardless, think good thoughts on Friday, April 13th… deal? Have a great hump night and make the most of it!

If you're anything like me
you can't wait until January 22nd for new episodes of Heroes to start. My DVR is chomping at the bit! Here's a brief preview to keep you at bay.
It's official that Sydney, Australia is the newest area of residence for the hard partying Real World cast. I can only imagine what kind of trouble they'll get into, as the area their house seems to be in is definitely in close proximity to plenty of bars. It's a beautiful city, although I doubt they'll notice! It would be cool to see them hit up a rugby game or something. That is, if they're allowed anywhere but bars. It seems the Denver cast was not allowed to go to any sporting events or concerts, although I'm unsure if it's because the venues didn't want the cameras around, or the boozers just made a bad impression. International seasons of the Real World have never done well, so I'm curious to see how this one goes. Then again, it is in a beautiful country that almost always has great weather (and apparently the most in shape people in the world) so at least they won't be confined to their house for long stretches at a time. I wonder if they'll be anywhere near Russell Crowe's harborfront property... I see a phone throwing in their future.. if not something heavier!
In other MTV News, they have announced the cast for the newest installment of Road Rules. I don't believe Road Rules has been on the air since 2004, and this one includes old cast members (isn't that what the challenges are for?), but all the challenges are in the LA area because it's practically a revolving door policy for the cast members. The viewers are supposed to be in control, but not entirely. Will I watch? I don't know. I'd gotten a little tired of Road Rules in the past years, but this one might bring me back considering I know what kind of drama will go on (which is why I watch the Challenges). I guess if there's nothing else on (much like the Rolling Stone show), I'll probably give it a shot.
In sad Hollywood news, it seems long time pals Jeremy Piven and John Cusack are on the outs. From what Piven has to say, Cusack isn't a fan of Piven's new found fame, even though he's stood by him since high school. I like both guys, but I have to side with Piven. He's been in most of Cusack's movies and doesn't seem like the type of guy to bite the hand that feeds him. I hope these two crazy kids can put their issues behind them and reappear, a la Lance Armstrong and Matthew McConaughey.
Finally, Apple has introduced their Iphone, which is basically an Ipod and telephone combined. Everyone is raving over how cool it is but I kind of like having my music and cellular service separate. Then again, I'm a huge computer moron so I'd never be able to figure it out anyway. Cingular customers will be the first to get their grubby little hands on one, but it won't be for a few more months. Almost lunch time and I'm STARVING! Hope you're all enjoying your day and I'll try to hit you back later.

Putting on your "game face"
I’ve never been the kind of girl that rolls out of bed looking fabulous. More the type that looks at the guy next to me and wonders how the hell he’s still here after seeing me in the morning. I guess that’s when you know someone really likes you: when they don’t run away in fright the morning after. I mean, what can I say? I have thin hair and skin that tends to get red when I sleep. So, you can imagine my horror when I realized I had forgotten to bring any makeup to J’s last night. All I had was some lipstick in my purse which was so not enough. Luckily, I realized this last night so I was able to take some precautionary measures, a la Kathy Griffin. As a D-list celebrity, she tries to milk every perk she gets. I remember an episode where she had a show and had her makeup (and I believe her hair) professionally done. She slept sitting up so as not to disturb the makeup. I didn’t go to that extreme, but I was conscious of the fact that nothing was going on my face this morning. When I took a shower I made sure not to get my face wet at all. It’s not an easy task. So, any makeup you can see on my face today, is left over from yesterday. Gross, but a necessary evil. I'm a little pasty and blotchy, but that's the real me. I really need to put together a complete overnight bag so I never forget anything. I also forgot deodorant, which is not a first for me. Not only do I look like crap, but I smell like a man. It's also now glaringly obvious that I need my eyebrows waxed. Oh yeah.. it’s gonna be a great day.
Before that, J. and I went to Applebee’s for dinner. He thought of the idea and was really proud of himself because they have the Weight Watchers menu. The Weight Watchers menu is great, but not for someone like me. Everything is good for you because it’s loaded with veggies, which I do not eat. He even said “maybe we need to get you started eating some sort of vegetables, because this can’t be easy without them,” and he’s absolutely right. Anyway, I was going to get the Tortilla Chicken Melt, which is an appetizer, but basically it’s a chicken and cheese quesadilla loaded with vegetables. So, I asked our waiter if the insides were already mixed or if I could get it with just chicken and cheese. He looked at me kind of strange and then said that it was not already mixed, but it would look kind of pathetic without the veggies. I should not have let him deter me. I should have just done it anyway, but I was so hungry and completely lost. I got my staple - the chicken fajita rollup, which (the way I eat it) consists of grilled chicken and cheese in a flour tortilla. I mean, how bad can that be? Granted, I ate the fries too… and two mozzarella sticks. But I accounted for all of it and that’s what your 35 flex points are for, am I right? So… I felt guilty, but I guess I’ll just work out like a fiend for the rest of the week and not go over my points. If I don’t lose, then it’s my own fault and I won’t make that mistake again. Seriously, why is weight so easy to put on, but so damn hard to take off?
That was my night, besides basking in the afterglow of Cal’s impending induction into the Hall of Fame. I have done nothing of substance today and I have some leftover gossip from yesterday, so I’ll be back later, as I’m sure this influx of work will peter out in the near future. Have a great morning and more to come later.

Call for the Hall
Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn are the newest inductees into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Ripken garnered 98.5% of the vote, coming just short of Tom Seaver’s record breaking 98.84 percent. It was the highest voting percentage ever for a position player. I think it’s pretty obvious that Ripken would have surpassed Seaver, but many abstained from voting as it wouldn’t be fair to vote for anyone in the “steroid age.” I could see this if either of the two (Ripken and Gwynn) had ever been accused of abusing steroids, but come on. Be a man and make a decision! So basically, these sportswriters are never going to vote again, because I don’t see the steroid age coming to a close anytime soon! Why waste their ballots? Looks like the boys from ESPN.com might agree with me. (Photo thanks to www.orioles.com)Anyway, kudos to Ripken and Gwynn (but mainly Ripken, as he is my man and always will be). I will see them both when I make the trek (albeit short) to Cooperstown on July 29th for induction day. Those beautiful blue eyes might look slightly older and haggard, but I will still fight tooth and nail to get close to them anytime, not just Induction Day!
Note to the haters: I’ve read a lot about people saying that if it weren’t for “The Streak” would Cal be in the Hall? (My answer: Hell yes) I’ll pose another question: If McGwire hadn’t hit all those home runs, would he have even been nominated? Think about it.
To answer the question of whether Cal should be in the Hall, I have to hand it to my nemesis, Peter Gammons: "I do think he's the most underrated, great defensive player that I have ever covered in terms of understanding hitters, the relationship between pitchers and hitters, positioning, doing things right. The other thing that can't be underestimated is how he became such an icon, that he became the model for millions of kids in this country in how to play the game right, in how to do things right. That really stands for something." And Gammons isn't the only one: "To me, he's a slam dunk even without the streak," said Ken Rosenthal, who covered Ripken with The Baltimore Sun for more than a decade and now works for FOXSports.com. "He proved that a tall man could play shortstop, enabling players like Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez to follow.
Goose Gossage was just a few percentage points shy of getting in and Mark McGwire didn’t even make a blip on the Hall of Fame radar with 23% of the vote, which I think is exactly what ESPN had projected he’d get. Do those folks know something we don’t?
He didn’t break records with his induction percentage, but I’m still insanely proud of my man, and I promise to bawl my brains out on July 29th. No one is ever really a shoo-in for the Hall, so congratulations to both Ripken and Gwynn. They are both role models in the sport and I’m glad the world sees it that way.
Morning Roundup
I lost 2.4 pounds this past week. I expected more, as I usually lose a considerable amount of weight the first week, mainly because I’m not eating half as much as usual and I’m working out 100% more than normal. So, I was a little disappointed, but I will not let it deter me. My mother lost 7 pounds this week. She insists it’s water weight, but that puts me quite a ways behind on our bet. Hopefully she’ll peter out and I will forage ahead cause $20 is $20, no matter who it’s coming from! My cheeseburger and fries with gravy were superb though, I’ll tell you that!
When I got home last night I was thrilled to see that West Side Story was playing on Turner Classic Movies. I own it on VHS, but since the VCR has died I haven’t watched it all the way through in a very long time. Normally when I’m on the phone, I have the TV on mute. Oh no, I made two important phone calls with the strains of West Side Story in the background. For two and a half hours I didn’t change the channel, even when Tony and Maria sang “One Hand, One Heart,” which has never been my favorite song. I even found myself teary at the end, when both the Jets and Sharks come together to carry Tony’s lifeless body from the playground. No wonder it won 10 Academy Awards. I can’t believe it was made in 1961, and that Amber Tamblyn’s father played Riff. What a hottie in his day! I thought he was even cuter than Tony and I don’t even like light haired guys. What I’m trying to say is, check this gem out if you have yet to see it. I promise it’s worth it, even 46 years later.
I talked to my friend Crystal last night, and she’s officially put me in charge of finding airfare for our trip to Ireland. I’m really excited, and I even managed to find my passport so it looks like I’m really getting all my ducks in a row. I hope to find flights this week. My mom found one for $448 (without taxes) but it looks like it’ll be closer to $550. We’re only there for one weekend night so we’ll have to make it phenomenal. I’m leaving Rachael in charge of the London sojourn, if we decide to do that still. It’s the only other place in the world that I really want to go (overseas that is) so it’d really be fun to check it out!
On my way to work this morning I turned to the XM Comedy Channel and found Margaret Cho - Drunk with Power. I had just put this special on my Netflix queue yesterday, so I couldn’t believe the whole thing was on my radio. I listened to it for as long as I could and it reminded me why I think she’s so funny. I mean, she’s been around for ages (I believe this show was taped in 1996) but she still knows how to be contemporary and slightly racist without offending anyone. I might have to put her other specials on my queue too. I should see if she tours anymore.
Anna Nicole Smith has come out of seclusion with her boytoy (eww)/baby daddy (double eww)/lawyer Howard K. Stern and was whooping it up in Hollywood, Florida. She was also showing off this tattoo on her upper back. It’s supposed to be a portrait of her new daughter Dannielynn, and her deceased son Daniel. I admit, I caught an episode or seven of her show on E! and that tattoo looks NOTHING like her son. I mean, his face has been all over the news since his untimely death, you’d think the artist could have done better. As for the baby.. hell, it’s a baby. It probably looks similar.
Congratulations to my friends Tara and Tim, who just found out they’ll be giving Brady (our favorite baby/hunk of man), a baby brother! Tara is due in May, I believe, as are most of my friends! It seems no one wants to be pregnant alone, so they all do it at once. Again, so not drinking the water in this town.
Finally, if you’re a tad bored today (as I am), check out this pop culture game related to the VHI/Entertainment Weekly World Series of Pop Culture. I haven’t had a chance to try it yet so feel free to gloat over your scores. I’ll be back later regarding Cal’s announcement into the Hall.. T-minus 1 hour.

I haven’t had a chance to try it yet so feel free to gloat over your scores. I’ll be back later regarding Cal’s announcement into the Hall.. T-minus 1 hour.

How could I forget?
Tomorrow is the announcement of who has made it into the Baseball Hall of Fame. I (and many others) already expect that our man Cal Ripken will be a no-brainer, as Tony Gwynn should be. I'm just slightly perturbed by what will happen regarding Mark McGwire. I just feel like if he's let in on the first shot then all this hoopla over steroids means nothing. I'm not saying he's been proven guilty or anything (as I have no evidence to prove this point), but I think it would just put such a black mark next to two men who wanted nothing more in life than to play baseball. I was watching ESPN Saturday morning and there was a story on whether sports writers were goign to vote for McGwire.. It seemed very few had plans to do so. Next up were Bonds, Sosa and Palmeiro, all of whom are/were Hall worthy before any of their scandals erupted. If they get into the hall at all, they might as well forget it being on the first try! I don't think Palmeiro will ever have a shot in hell. I mean, he did test positive, and then blamed a team mate on his "false positive." Come on... go down by yourself, don't try to bring others with you! I have always been a huge Raffy fan, but I can't condone the behavior in this case. It's like the guy who knows he gets drug tested on Fridays at work, but smokes pot the night before anyway. You deserve what comes (or doesn't in this case) to you. Anyway, I can't wait until 1:00 tomorrow to hear the announcements and I just wanted to remind the rest of you!
Rainy Days and Mondays ALWAYS Get Me Down
It's true.. The weather was so crappy this morning and I could not bust out of the funk I was in, even when it got nicer later this afternoon. There really isn’t much to say about the weekend. It was a tad on the boring side. Friday night I went to bowling and bit the big one. It was just a bad, bad experience! The knocker upper got wasted and proceeded to beg me to drive him home. I declined, but made sure someone would take him home. As much as I don’t want to be with him, I don’t want him to get a(nother) DWI or have an accident. He then spent the rest of the night texting me (while I was at J.’s) to tell me that I miss being with him and that if I don’t want to be with him, he wants to be with my bowling teammate. Yeah, THAT will get me back! I think the fact that he just stopped going to his job kind of puts a bad taste in any girl’s mouth, don’tcha think!? Anyway, I don’t know what (if anything) will go on with my bowling teammate, I just don’t want it to happen. No, not because I don’t want him to date anyone, it’s just that I like her! I mean, he constantly tells me that he’d drop anyone for me in a heartbeat and that’s ok to know if he’s dating someone I don’t know. But I know this girl and like her. Then again, I guess I should let people make their own mistakes. Talk about awkward.
Anyway, J. and I watched “Kiss Kiss Bang Bang” on Saturday morning. I was planning on watching it alone as I needed something to do, but he and the dogs followed me out of bed. I once again slept like shit and was sweating in places I didn’t know you could sweat from. Not for any good reason, might I add.. Only because I was surrounded by dogs. I got up to get some fresh air and couldn’t bring myself to go back into bed. It wasn’t that early. Anyway, the movie was really funny. I was surpised at how much I liked Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer. I highly recommend. It has a pretty decent and entertaining story, and lots of great lines to quote from. Shortly after that, I left to enjoy the day. I couldn’t believe how nice it was outside! I went to the gym and almost died in there. It was so stuffy and hot. I guess that’s what happens when it’s 70 degrees outside in January!
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I LOATHE Wal-Mart. The one in my town is so dirty and white trashy that I can barely stand going in there, and only do when I have no other alternative. Saturday’s trip was to get oil and an oil filter, as J. continues to tell me that he’s going to change my oil. He also insists he’s going to teach me how to do it. NOT going to happen. He was appalled when I told him I don’t know how to change my tire. I don’t pay AAA every year for nothing! Cars are the one thing I’m insanely girly about, in that I know nothing about them and won’t pretend to care. So I had to call him from Wal-Mart because I didn’t know what kind of oil to get, and then again to find out where I would find out which filter goes to my car. I learned a little something at Wal-Mart that Saturday… Right before some dirty kid drooled on my shoe in the checkout line. Give me Target any day.
Kate and Brian came over to watch the Colts beat the Chiefs. I’m a Peyton Manning fan so I was rooting for the Colts. They’re really the only team I watch, as I’m not a huge football fan. I’m only just learning the rules and such. Granted, I understand more than I anticipated thanks to rugby, but there are quite a few differences. Anyway, I know Peyton didn’t play that great, but luckily the rest of the team did, so they’ll be playing next week. Tre, Kate and Brian went to our friend Nancy’s for the second game, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I don’t like football enough to do it. I watched The Office (hysterical), some episodes of Big Day and My Name is Earl, so I could clear out the DVR. Munich was on HBO but I missed the same initial 10 minutes I’d missed when I saw it in theaters (thanks CJ) so I didn’t bother. Plus, I knew I’d never stay awake to watch the whole thing. I was passed out on the couch by 10. Tre called me around 11:30 to pick her up and I then went to bed… by myself.. comfortably.
Sunday was a day of rest. I did go to the gym, but that was about the extent of it. Oh wait… I did laundry too. Necessary Roughness was on HBO so I got nothing done until it was over. God that is such a guilty pleasure movie. Tre and I went to Meadowgreens for dinner and found some of our friends there watching football. I had anticipated a quick dinner and then heading home, but every “last beer” Tre had, turned into another. I finally gave up and let someone else take her home. I was sick of waiting, and I was still kind of tired. I watched (completely accidentally) MTV’s Rolling Stone show. It was interesting. I’m pretty sure real interns don’t get the opportunities that these people are getting, and I’m pretty sure they only got cast based on their looks and how good a reality TV find they’ll be. I mean, the one Australian guy seems like he’s hardly ever written anything in his life! I’ll probably keep watching as nothing is on Sunday at 10 (I really do hate ABC for moving Grey’s Anatomy).
Today is weigh in day… and then Mom and I are headed to Kozel’s because I’m craving a juicy burger and French fries with gravy. Tonight I really do need to find my passport, and I need to call my friend Crystal. She called me yesterday but I forgot to call her back. We need to figure out when we want to leave for Ireland and come back, and then we need to look for flights. My mom found one today for $448 round trip, and it’s a direct flight. We’re flying out of Boston, as Crystal lives in Worcester and there’s definitely a better shot of getting a direct flight from there as opposed to Albany! I can’t believe it’s only three months away and considering the planner that I am, I can’t believe I don’t have a flight yet! Maybe by the end of this week.
I’m a little lacking in gossip today, but I’ll try to make up for it as the week goes on. Have a great Monday night!

A funny to jump start your afternoon
I don't know about you, but it's pretty f'n gloomy up in my neck of the woods! Everyone is in a terrible mood. I guess going from 70 degree weather on Saturday to gray and rainy weather today really puts a cramp in people's attitudes. Anyway, to help make up for it, click on this link. I will give credit where credit is due: I found this on Sandra's blog and it was too damn funny for me not to post it for all the world (well.. you guys) to see. More to come later, I promise!

Just one more reason to love New Yorkers
First the heroic rescue on the subway, and now this.
Whoever said New Yorkers are rude and self centered have NO idea what they're talking about.

Anything to avoid work
I’ve always been a little jealous of people who have Verizon as a cell phone provider, because they have those cool call tones, where you can listen to music instead of an annoying ring while your party is reached. Of course, that’s dependent on taste. Anyway, my sister called me today and asked me to call her cell phone. When I did, I heard the melodic strains of the Notorious BIG (she’s black on the inside). I’ve spent the bulk of the afternoon trying to figure out what tone I wanted. As you can probably guess, I settled on “It’s Not Over” by Daughtry, whose lead singer looks INSANELY good in this week’s People Magazine. In case you all forgot, I posted a picture of him and his band... who aren't too bad in the looks department either. Anyway, I’ll tell you my list of songs I considered (let’s remember that I didn’t look at ALL the songs):Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart
Anything they had by Huey Lewis and the News
Brian Wilson - Barenaked Ladies
Daydream Believer - The Monkees
Everything You Want - Vertical Horizon
Hey Jealousy - Gin Blossoms
Like I said, I didn’t get through every single call tone but I will probably peruse them again, as I can get a call tone for any certain phone number I want. I’ll really have to think this through. I’m sure there’ll be more on this at another time.
I had to run out (take a break) around 3 so I called J. to see if he was awake. He then told me that two of his buddies might come over to booze it up a bit tonight. Friday night is usually “date night” so it kind of irks me when he does that, even though I don’t get home from bowling till around 9. Then again, I can’t really be mad because it’s his only night where he doesn’t have to work the next day so he should be able to have fun with his buddies, am I right? Anyway, he told me to come over after bowling but I’m not sure I want to ruin the cute little sausagefest the boys will have going on at the house. I guess (if worse came to worse) I could REALLY catch up on those Netflix DVD’s!
Quickies: Dita Von Teese (who has the surprisingly normal name of Heather R. Sweet) has filed for divorce from her husband of just a year, Marilyn Manson (Brian H. Warner). Apparently the two separated on Christmas Eve, but it seems Dita’s had some trouble finding her husband to serve him the papers. That can’t be a good sign. On the other end of the spectrum (in more ways than one) Chris Kattan got engaged to model Sunshine Tutt. The only thing I could find about her was that she is/was a finalist for Miss FHM 2006. The um.. interesting looking men always seem to find models, don’t they?
Ok.. I’ve slacked off all afternoon thanks to the sprint website so I need to do work for my last 45 minutes. Have a great weekend!!!
About Last Night...
At the end of my boring as all hell day, I hightailed it to J.’s and devoured my Chicken Helper. It put me two points over for the day, but the activity from dance class bought me even, so all is well in Points World. I spent much of my morning perusing the web site for tips on eating out and for some recipes. They have a potato cheese soup that I’m hoping to try in the near future. I mean, they are two of my favorite things in the world! I think I’ll probably spend some of my afternoon checking out the nutritional information on restaurant web sites to see if I can figure things out. Obviously, not much going on at work today, but I’ll try to make it look good.
I went to dance class, where we learned the new dance we had started a few weeks ago, but since everyone seemed to skip December, no one really knew it but one girl. The music is one of the larger drum cadences from the movie “Drumline.” I LOVE that movie and I love all the drum beats. We actually found it because one of the competition classes did a hip hop routine to it a few years ago. Regardless, great song and it makes me actually want to go to class, unlike our “Boot Scootin’ Boogie” routine. The dance was fun, but the song made me want to vomit a bit in my mouth. Anyway, we learned everything we’d missed and (as seems to be a trend) the other class wanted to see it. I think they’re just in shock and awe that “adults” still have rhythm. We then get the routine hounding about performing in the show. It’s not going to happen. I know Sue will refuse.. she’s had it with performing and from the get go we were told it was our choice. Another girl is getting married the week after the show and another will be 7-8 months pregnant. That leaves four of us in the class and if they’re not doing it, I’m not doing it. I believe I’ve mentioned it before that I really don’t want to perform for only one dance and pay for a costume that I’ll never wear again. Not high on my priority list. So, we played if off but we all know it’s not going to happen. Sooner or later they’ll figure it out.
It was such a nice night, so I ended up chatting with one of the girls in the parking lot for 15-20 minutes. I then played the good girlfriend and stopped to get J. a coffee on my way home. I was craving the hot cocoa, but I resisted. When I got home I was harassed by the dogs, and when I went upstairs J. was passed out on the couch. I woke him up real quick to give him the coffee and he was kind of out of it. So, I went to change into my jammies and such and then settled in on the couch to watch some TV. His cell phone rang… Nothing. House phone… Nothing. I woke him up because it was his brother on the phone, but he didn’t care. I finally took the remote from him. He woke up briefly, but had fallen asleep because he didn’t even flinch when I turned on the America’s Next Top Model marathon. (Side note: why can’t they just have an ANTM channel?) Around 10 I was pretty cold (he had the only blanket) so I went to bed to get warm. I gave it a final try around 10:45 to get him to come to bed and he almost moved. He finally came in around 2. He had been falling asleep at 6 when I got home originally, so I wasn’t really that surprised that he was so tired, but I’m pretty sure the bed would have been more comfortable than the couch.. especially when the dogs are involved. When he got up at 4:30 this morning he apologized, but I wasn’t really mad. I mean, I got three uninterrupted hours of dog-free sleep! I’ll let him make it up to me anyway. I was up for an hour or so this morning because Chavo, the basset hound, has figured out that if I’m still in bed there’s no reason he should have to go out or be forced into his cage. So, I got out of bed and walked downstairs. The minute he went through the doggie door I hightailed it back upstairs and closed the door. He was J.’s responsibility after that!
What else? Finally, it’s Friday. Granted, I’m making up work again, but won’t have to do that again until Monday. Tonight is bowling. I can’t expect it to go like last week, but I wouldn’t mind winning a little bit of cash for sure. I’ll probably head to J’s after that although I’m not sure how to get from Catskill to East Greenbush any other way than going through Hudson. I think I can take the Berkshire Spur but I’ve never had to so I don’t really know where that would deposit me. I don’t want to go too out of my way. Guess I need to research that. If it’s quicker it would defeat the purpose of me going home and then going an extra 25 minutes there when I can get there in the same amount of time another way. If anyone has any insight, let me know! I missed my shows last night, but I did DVR so my views will be forthcoming. I’ll try to be back with some entertainment news or random thoughts later, but enjoy your day and weekend!!

Seriously, put me out of my misery
I’m getting desperate.
Apparently Lindsey Lohan had to have an appendectomy today. Does anyone else think they’re really taking out her liver instead of her appendix? I mean, wouldn’t that make more sense? That AA shit she’s peddling doesn’t fool me. I think she’s just playing it safe until she turns 21.
In other Lohan news, it seems Kevin Federline tried to woo Lindsey via text message, to which she replied “why would I hang out with you?” Lindsey may be a lush, but she’s not as dumb as Britney (well, not in the men department). Is there some sort of celebrity phone guide so they can all text and two way each other? Because I can see no conceivable reason why K-Fed would ever be able to score Lindsey Lohan’s phone number. After his supposed separation from Brit via text message, he might want to stick to email.
Shanna Moakler seems to be cozying up to Jenna Jameson’s ex Jay Grdina, also a porn star. She’s been hinting all over town that she was with someone and is sublimely happy, but I always thought it would be her “Dancing with the Stars” partner, not an ex porn star. When Miss America’s fall, they fall hard!
For anyone who still cares (I mean hell.. even I don’t and I used to be able to tell you where each season was and who participated), there are rumblings that the new season of The Real World will be in Sydney, Australia. I have to say, the foreign Real Worlds haven’t gone over well so far, but Sydney is such a great city with beautiful weather, and it’d be a really good place to rejuvenate the series. If only they would stop casting the typical stereotypes. That’s what was so great about the first season or two of the show. No one played up their “roles” and were basically themselves, take it or leave it. The ghost of Mary Ellis-Bunim must be turning over in her grave!
Is anyone else so insanely sick of the Donald/Rosie feud? I really hope she shuts up and just lets him talk himself to death.
I wouldn’t kick Aubrey Huff out of my bed for eating crackers. (Thanks to the O's website for the picture)He’s no B-Rob or Nick Markakis but I’d give him a jump. I might have to start trolling Baltimore bars after games. He’s going to need to get acquainted with his new city, don’t you agree? My dad actually met Eric Byrnes one night in a bar in Baltimore (before he got traded obviously) so it’s a highly possible situation. What female fan doesn’t want to be a one woman welcoming committee?
Time has been wasted. I can guarantee I’ll be back for more tomorrow. Enjoy the return of new TV and count the days until Heroes comes back (January 22nd)!

Is it Friday yet?
My motivation is at an all time low. I can’t seem to force myself to do any work today. I’ve sat here for the last hour trying to think of things to do, and not being able to start any one of them. So.. I’ve basically faked doing work. I knew there was a reason I told NO ONE I work with about this blog.
Let’s talk about Top Chef. I missed the first 7 minutes, but apparently somewhere in there Michael had to have a wisdom tooth out and his face looked HEINOUS. He had this nasty herpes looking thing on the side of his mouth and he looked kind of out of it. However, it must be great meds they put him on because he won the Quickfire Challenge, in which each chef had to make a dish sticking to a particular color. I can’t remember what his color was, but he, Cliff and Sam were the frontrunners. Cliff probably had the hardest time as he’s colorblind and got the color purple. He basically said that he’d heard eggplant was purple and worked with that. I really would like to see him and Sam in the final two. But anyway, I believe Betty, Marcel and Ilan were in the bottom three. Holy foreshadowing if that’s the case! However, Michael did NOT win immunity by winning the Quickfire Challenge. Poor guy! The guest judge is Ted Allen, food aficionado from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy,” who then (along with Padma) tells them their next challenge is to create a seven course meal based on the seven deadly sins for a dinner party at Debi Mazar’s house. Everyone then picks a knife with a sin on it. Michael’s big win is that he can trade his sin (Lust) with anyone else and he chooses Marcel (Envy). It’s off to the store where it’s basically become the “We Hate Marcel” club and amazingly enough, Sam seems to be the President. Marcel hears him talking about him behind his back and confronts him about it. Sam then just starts yelling at him like a fourth grader. As perturbed as I was by this whole deal, I couldn’t help but notice that Sam is getting hotter every time I watch the show. He’s sexy when he’s angry… Anyway.. it’s then back to the ovens to start their meal, as they have three hours to prepare. There’s minimal drama. I mean.. no more than usual with this group. Betty is making three soups and really, what that has to do with sloth I’m not sure. Elia has pride and has decided to make a roast chicken with veggies. Ilan and Marcel are tackling desserts, neither of whom are pastry chefs so it’s looking pretty sketchy from the get go. Michael’s initial thought was to make a seafood dish with crabmeat implying that crabs are envious of lobsters (or something to that effect) but there’s no more crab meat so he gets relegated to the caste system of battle between trout and salmon (Chef Tom was incredibly wary of this one and made it blatantly obvious). Honestly, I vaguely remember what the others made but they’re obviously no longer central to this episode so we’ll forget about it for now. So.. at Debi Mazar’s house everyone is frantically getting their stuff together and as much of a douchebag as he is, Marcel was pretty good about helping everyone plate their food. I couldn’t believe the pettiness of the rest of the group (minus Elia) when it came time to help Marcel. Everyone basically walked outside and ignored him until he came to ask for help. Granted, he said (to the camera) that he’d rather do it himself, but it’s not like he can serve all that food on his own. He did serve most of it and even managed to spoon feed that and some chocolate to Artie Bucco’s wife on the Sopranos, shocking almost everyone in the kitchen. He only seemed slightly embarrassed about it, but more happy that he’d made an impression, regardless of what it was! Marcel’s dessert consisted of a cherry tart type thing with (of course) foam, causing Ilan to bring out his snarky side and tell him that cherries are a depressant on the libido and that Marcel should have more sex and he’d know that. Hello Pot… meet Kettle. Anyway, when Ilan brings out his dish as the last dish (a rich chocolate cake with f’d up funnel cakes and brittle) he makes the point about the cherries to the group. I thought for sure he’d sealed his fate on that one. Michael actually wins the whole challenge and is asked to send in Betty, Ilan and Marcel. The Judges discuss Ilan’s comments and he tries to play them off as good natured fun, but Marcel knows Ilan is just being a baby (he’s learned from the best, Marcel) and basically rip apart all their meals. Betty’s soups were too thick and clung to the glass; Marcel needs to let up on the foam; Ilan’s cake was too much and the funnel cakes weren’t even close to crispy. As the judges are talking they say that after 9 weeks, Betty should know what the right equipment to use in making her soup.. well.. soupier would be. That means it’s her turn to go home. I think she’d been there way longer than she should have been in the first place and I really didn’t think Marcel or Ilan would go home before her. She’s done well, but she’s not a chef to the same extent that the others are. I feel bad for Elia as she’s the only female left. I hope she continues to do well. The previews for next week’s episode looks pretty good too. Only a few more weeks before the finale and then Top Design will start!
Shew.. that went longer than I had anticipated. Here’s some quick snippets for you: Emilie de Ravin of Lost has separated from her husband of six months, Josh Janowicz. His “big” credit is Hot Priest in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. What could have gone wrong!? Both the OC and the Megan Mulally Show have been cancelled but at least the OC will get to air their final episodes, while Megan will end ASAP! I feel bad as I’ve heard the OC really stepped it up this year after the departure of Mischa Barton. Bet she’ll never let it go that after she left, the series got cancelled. I know I wouldn’t. As I told you earlier, there is a clip from tonight’s Office episode on Yahoo.com. Follow this link to see that clip, plus a clip of Michael coming back to the office after his vaca. Both are pretty funny and I can’t wait to see the show.
The Gods Have Shined Upon Me
As I was watching (yet another) America’s Next Top Model marathon on VHI, a commercial came on advertising their airing of Australia’s Next Top Model. Top Model in Australia. I feel like I need to sing “My Favorite Things.” I can’t wait. I never got to see the British Top Model recap deal they showed on UPN. Plus, the fun is the drama! I don’t want to see a whole season in two hour long episodes. It looks like they’ll be showing all the episodes. I have no idea when it will start but I might have to fire up the DVR for them. I hope it’s not a marathon. I’ll never leave the house.
Speaking of firing up the DVR, new episodes of My Name is Earl and The Office are on tonight. I believe Grey’s Anatomy will start up again next week with a new episode. Anyway, on the Office we find out who Michael took on his trip to Sandals, Jamaica. From the trailers we can see it’s Jan, but I can only imagine the hilarity that will ensue when the rest of the gang finds this out! You can go to Yahoo.com and they have a teaser trailer for tonight's episode.
I did manage to watch Top Chef last night, albeit with a basset hound hogging the couch, so I’ll get to a recap of that later on today if I can. Last night I hit the gym and it wasn’t as crowded as I anticipated, which was nice. I then went home, made some bagel bites (10 points) and hightailed it to J.’s brothers house. I was pretty beat and was almost instantly cranky when I heard both dogs would be sleeping with us. Not that he and I take up that much room, but I was basically in a J. and beagle sandwich.. Not quite what I was looking for when the whole “playing house” thing came up. The next week and a half is going to be more trying than I had anticipated. Around 3:30 I heard what sounded like water running, but was really the basset hound peeing on the floor. Good times. I couldn’t have slept for more than a few hours as J. fell asleep before me and snored like a buzz saw. Luckily, the dogs were in their cages when I got up this morning so I could go through my morning routine without any interruption or dogs underfoot. Don’t get me wrong, they’re sweet dogs but the most I’ve ever had to sleep with is my parent’s chubby pug and a cat. There’s a HUGE size differential between that group and the one I slept with last night. Apparently my ass is a really comfy place for a dog to lay his head though. Was unaware of that until this morning.
I got a phone call from Lacey today to see if I wanted to go out to lunch. I wasn’t going to go but it’s such a nice day and it’d be nice to get out of the office. We’re going to the Pump Station, which is right next door to my office. Anyway, I figure if I order a grilled chicken sandwich I should be ok. I’m using the points values that are listed for Friendly’s, even though I don’t think the Pump Station would be any more than that. I’ll just eat my leftover chicken helper for dinner tonight and that shouldn’t push me too far over the edge. I do have 35 “flex points” that I can use during the week in case I go over, and I have gone to the gym which adds points. I shouldn’t agonize over it as much, but I just want it to work! I don’t anticipate any big nights out so I think it’ll be fine, but if anyone has any insight, feel free to lay it on me. I’m going to take a nap at my desk until lunch time. I’ll be back later with a recap of Top Chef and who knows what else!

It's OOOOOOfficial
Aubrey Huff has passed his physical and has inked a 20 million dollar deal to play for the O's. He will more than likely be the starting left fielder, but he can also see time at first base, third base and DH. I like the idea of someone who has a record for being a good hitter. He might not be the best defensively that we could have found but he definitely won't hurt the team in any way. I mean, it can't be worse than the "up the back of the shirt" sort of catch from last season... am I right?
In other baseball news, check out this link. While I never have been (and never will be) a fan of the Red Sox, the story caught my eye. 112!? I think that'll be me someday. I mean, George Burns smoke and drank every day of his life and he lived pretty long. I figure adding fast food and taking out the smoking can only help me out in my quest to become the oldest O's fan ever.

New Year, New Look
I decided to change things up a little bit... also I was a little bored at work and wanted to make lunch come quicker. So.. hope you like it. I switched from the old blogger to the new Google blogger, which was a long time (and lots of harassing from the blogger people) coming. I hope it's a little more Oriole friendly!!
Quick gossip - Britney Spears apparently "was tired" and had to be taken out of Pure Nightclub in Vegas, where she was hosting their New Year's Eve party (for approximately $300,000). On January 1st she checked into a "spa" in Arizona. Who wants to take the bet that she's in rehab by St. Patty's Day? Or at the very least there'll be a crazy intervention. Looks like someone wasn't quite as ready for motherhood as she thought.

Temptation Crisis Averted
Last night I went and weighed in at my parent’s house. God, that was depressing. Nice to know I came 5 pounds shy of gaining back all the weight I’d lost last year. That sure makes a girl feel good. Anyway, while I was there I signed up for Weight Watchers online, which is pretty handy. It’s an easy way to tally up your points for the day and you can search for recipes and other tips online. I did it last year and really liked the simplicity of it, so I’m glad I was able to do it again. Today was my off day from the gym (maybe) so I was able to sleep in. Woke up and my legs are a little tight, but that’s to be expected. I had anticipated hitting the gym tomorrow morning but my plans for tonight fell through so I might try to go later. A couple of the women from work were getting together at someone’s house, but that woman’s son is sick so she had to cancel. It’s actually worked out pretty well for me, as they were getting Wings Over Albany and I’m not sure what that kind of temptation will do to me! It does screw up my big plan though because I had planned on not seeing J. tonight and heading home to sleep so I can hit the gym in the AM. He is watching his brother’s dogs so he basically can’t leave the house… or at least not overnight so I’m stuck commuting to and from his brother’s house. This is not a bad thing, as his house is about 20-30 minutes closer to where I work, it’s just going to screw with my gym schedule. So, I might try to go tonight, which I really don’t want to do as everyone has decided their New Year’s resolution is to get in shape and they all want to do it at my gym at the exact time I need to be there. At least that’s what my sister told me it was like last night. Anyway, I won’t know what I’m doing until I talk to J. after I get out of work so I guess there’s no point in agonizing over it. I cooked up some Fettuccine Alfredo Chicken Helper last night, and after eating the one cup I was allowed, I packaged up three more one cup servings so I could eat them later in the week. I bought one in today so I could eat it later on tonight, but now it looks like I’ll just leave it here so I can have lunch one of these days. Sometimes I’m so damn resourceful!
I managed to set up my DVD player last night (as you may recall, J. had to unhook it so he could set up my VCR so I could watch Emmett Otter) with no help. Ok, J. had told me what to do over the phone earlier that day, but I never once called him for help, even when it didn’t work the first four times. It usually helps to have the cord connected to the TV too. I missed that at first. Anyway, I watched one of my Netflix movies, Thumbsucker. It was interesting. I sucked my thumb as a child so I could relate to the difficulty of quitting. The story was about a 17 year old kid whose dentist (Keanu Reeves) hypnotizes him to get him to quit sucking his thumb, but in doing so, the kid realizes he needs another vice and allows the school to diagnose him with ADD. He is put on Ritalin and it dramatically changes his behavior, but then he comes to the conclusion that it’s basically speed and would rather suck his thumb. Vince Vaughn, Vincent D’Onofrio and Tilda Swinton were also in it. It wasn’t a bad movie. Different, but not in a bad way. I still have Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang and Layer Cake sitting at home. I saved these as I think they’re movies I could sucker J. into watching with me. My next one to come will be The Transporter 2. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a Jason Statham movie.. The man is hot, bald and has a British accent. My three favorite things… (ok, it doesn’t have to be a British accent.. any will do). I put a few more movies in my "queue" today... some indies and some older ones. I never realized how many good movies I've never seen until now. Unfortunately, I fell asleep for SVU, but I taped it so I’ll have to watch the whole thing this weekend. I tuned in at the end but was very, very confused. Ok, I won’t lie. I did fall asleep for a little bit, but the rest of the time I was watching an America’s Next Top Model marathon on VH1. I need help… it’s an addiction..

Weekend recap into '07
I cut out of work early on Friday and was able to get some errands done. I went grocery shopping, basically to commence “Operation Slimdown.” I got lots of Lean Cuisines and Smart Ones (they’re easy for lunch) and tried to remember my old standby’s from the other times. Mainly English muffins, eggs, fake eggs, fat free cheese (do not use for a grilled cheese sandwich - it’s not real good with the melting process), etc. I had plenty of time to chill out before I went to bowling, which is a rarity for me. I had bowled like utter shit the last time I was there but I threw my $5 into the jackpot anyway. First game out of the gates was a 235. I got beat for the jackpot by my teammate, who bowled a 238. The next game I had the first three strikes, then left a split, which I picked up. I threw the next eight strikes to finish with a 277. That’s the best game I’ve ever bowled, even when I was at my prime in high school and college. I was shaking at the line as if I could bowl a 300. It was an unreal feeling. In order to shoot a 700, all I needed to do was shoot a 188, which shouldn’t really be that hard for me, considering that I haven’t missed anything all day. Well, I have this complex. When I was in high school I could NOT hit 600. It was just this incredible mental block that I couldn’t get over. I mean, I could have a series of 500 going into the third game and I’d find a way to screw it up (ok, maybe it wasn’t THAT dramatic, but you get the point). Before I go on, let me point out that I have hit 700 before, so it’s not like it would be a first for me. Anyway, I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn and I missed two ten pins in a row. I threw a strike in the 9th frame and knew I had to have the first one in the tenth to surpass 700. You guessed it… I couldn’t do it and I ended with a 184 instead of the 188 I needed. I admit, I was pissed and disappointed with myself, but it was a pretty damn good series and I’ll probably score some extra cash for it at the end of the bowling year. I think all the stress gave me a migraine as I could see these little cones in front of my eyes and subsequently got a nasty headache on top of my left eye. Excedrin Migraine is a miracle worker.
Saturday Tre and I went to the mall to use our gift cards. I got an armband for my nano and some stuff at Bath and Body Works. We then tried to find something to wear on New Year’s Eve. I found a pair of black pants and she also got a pair of pants, but she got them at the cute girl’s store, while I was relegated to Macy’s. God I can’t wait to fit into real (cute) clothes. After that I met J. at his house and we went to Chili’s for dinner with his brother and sister in law. I really like J.’s brother. He’s my age and he’s entertaining as all hell. The two of them together are pretty entertaining. The wife? Not so much. She’s a bitch and she thinks she’s much smarter than she is. She’s got a very good job that she had to go to school for so I’m not saying she’s stupid by any means. But she has that theory that anyone who didn’t go to college has no brain in her head. She actually made a comment regarding J.’s New Year’s Eve party in that no one there had a brain in their head. She then asked if I was going to the party. Unfortunately, I wasn’t, so I couldn’t make her look insanely stupid, as I would have liked to. Hell, I’m not related to her! I gave J. a lot of credit for not saying anything to her in regards to that comment. I used to feel bad about some of the things he’s said to her, but I can see she clearly deserves to be put in her place. Anyway, she and I don’t really have much in common so we basically spent dinner commiserating about our shitty service and listening to J. and his brother shoot the shit. It was still early after dinner, so I coerced J. into going to Barnes and Noble with me where I used my gift card (or its proceeds) to get three books: Cell by Stephen King, The Memory Keepers Daughter by Kim Edwards and The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer. There were tons more books that are on my list but I settled on these three. I’ll start Cell tomorrow as I just finished my Christmas book on today’s lunch break. After that we went to see We Are Marshall. I know it didn’t get great reviews but I thought it was a good movie, and did a good job of honoring those that died in the Marshall plane crash. It certainly wasn’t a vanity piece for McConaughey. He did not rock the plaid pants quite like he did those skin tight puppies he sported in Dazed and Confused! Regardless, it was worth seeing, and even a bit of a tearjerker. Capped off the night with a White Hot Chocolate from Dunkin Donuts. I LOVE white chocolate, but I have to say that I’d stick with regular hot chocolate. Not that it wasn’t good, it was. It was just…. different. I can’t decide if that’s in a good or bad way.
New Year’s was ok. We went to Meadowgreens and had a pretty good time. The food was really good. I didn’t hear the band all that much and the crowd was a little older than I had anticipated, although I never once thought there were going to be a ton of young people there. Does this mean I’m getting old? Anyway, New Year’s has always been kind of anticlimactic for me. It’s basically an excuse to drink on a weekday. “YAY, it’s Monday!” I went home around 1:30 (thanks to my pregnant friend Lynn) because my friend Danny was being a douchebag. I just didn’t feel like dealing with it. For some reason he always feels the need to be mean to me when he’s shitfaced, as opposed to anyone else. I didn’t even say anything to provoke it this time. But it’s ok, cause he was drunk. That’s the excuse and for some reason that’s ok. Fuck that. If I were a bitch back to him and called him names, everyone would be mad at me for being a bitch. So instead I went home, made some cinnamon rolls and some late night phone calls, and hopped into bed.
So today is the start of the new year. I might be using this blog as my weight watchers journal so I have somewhere to write down what I eat and so I feel guilty when I fall off the wagon. Granted, I don’t know how many people read my blog, but at least then I’ll feel like I’ve let someone down besides myself! I did make it to the gym at 6:00 this morning. I did 30 minutes on the elliptical machine and 25 minutes on the treadmill… walking for four minutes and running for one. What can I say? Baby steps! I know I can do longer, but since I’ve done nothing for so long I didn’t want to wear myself out too much. The gym was dead, which was also nice. So… when I got home from the gym I had an English muffin (2 points) with I can’t believe it’s not Butter spray on it. I washed it down with a cup of orange juice (2 points). Lunch was a Lean Cuisine Pepperoni Pizza (8 points) and there might be a snack in there somewhere later for 2 points. Tonight I’m going to make chicken helper fettucine alfredo and I can have a cup of that for six points. I think J.’s going to love all this as he’s certainly getting bigger helpings of food now that mine are smaller. I can eat up to 24 points a day and eventually my working out will allow me even more points to eat. I’ve done this a few times and I really do know what I need to do, and one of those things is the motivation to get my fat ass up in the morning and out to the gym. So far, so good.
I heard a rumor
No.. not that you've got a broken heart.. I heard the O's might have sealed a 3 year deal with Aubrey Huff. Side note: my college roomie my first year was named Aubrey. It was a girl though. I'd never really heard of that name until then. Anyway, it seems the deal may be pending a physical this week, but the Baltimore Sun seems to be reporting it for 20 million dollars. He'll fill in the holes we need (seemingly) at first base, the outfield and even third base if necessary. I think he'd make a good fit and I hope it works out. Anything that'll stop the Brian Roberts trade rumors will make me a happy girl, although that won't happen until we unload Rodrigo Lopez.
Anyway, no pictures, but more later on the long weekend. Hope everyone had a great new year. Yay 2007!
