Just a reminder... my birthday is coming up... gifts are optional, but appreciated. I'll take a tall, bald man, but this would be a decent substitute as well.

I couldn't bring myself to watch "More to Love," but I'm happy to know that I do not weigh enough to be considered as a bachelorette. That makes me feel better.. Then again, after all the smore eating that could ensue after my birthday, that could change!

The blog should have just gone on summer vacation, cause then I wouldn't feel so bad about not having the time to post.

My co-worker and I are taking over the job of a woman who's retiring (on Friday) so between our normal duties and training, free time is certainly a rarity!

It must have been one of those weekends for pseudo celebrity breakups, huh!?

So You Think You Can Dance had it's 100th episode last week, along with the highly touted performance by Katie Holmes. I'm not saying it was bad, but I don't know what people expected. She was adequate and did it for charity. Nothing wrong with that! Anyway, Janette and Jason were eliminated, and it made me realize how much I don't want anyone to go anymore! I genuinely like all of the contestants and they're all so good that they really have to completely shit the bed for me to think they should leave. Janette had NEVER had a bad dance, so I felt really bad for her to get the boot. Jason was also at his best in last week's dances, so it really was a shame for him to have to go as well. Melissa and Ade just get on my nerves for some reason. I agree they're talented, but I just never warmed to them! Anyway, they performed a very touching Tyce D'Orio routine about breast cancer, so you KNEW they weren't going home. I know all the dances have themes, but it surely is the luck of the draw. I mean, who was gonna NOT vote for the cancer dance?! Somehow, Evan is still riding high, having not been in the bottom two yet while in the Top 10. I adore him and vote for him, but I am still surprised by the fan base he has. Now if only he could butch it up for the latin dances...

Remember how everyone in New York has been bitching about how cold and rainy it's been? Besides missing ball games, it really hasn't bothered me until now. My eczema THRIVES on the heat so I guess I've gotten lucky that it's taken this long for the heat to come. I'll take 70-80 degree days any time!

Laura was evicted on Big Brother, which wasn't a shock. The only shock was that Ronnie didn't have the balls to put Russell up against her. He regretted it once Russell started to follow him around the house harassing him. The housemates found it annoying, which I found it comical. Jessie won HOH for the second time in three weeks and subsequently put up Jordan and Michele, mainly because he doesn't think they can beat him in the POV competition, allowing him to backdoor who he really wants. I'm not sure who that is, but tomorrow is another episode!

Why can't things be easy for my NYC housewives?! Speaking of the housewives, the new Atlanta season starts up this week and while for some reason, they aren't event television to me, I'm intrigued by the weave pulling and the drama that looks like it will ensue.

Not only did Kendra Wilkinson's show get a second season pickup with E!, but apparently she's inked a deal to publish her memoir. Why do people who are in their 20's think they've lived long enough to write about their life? Granted, it's always entertaining to hear about the inner workings at the Playboy mansion, but other than that I'm not sure I really care, which is amazing considering how much I LOVED The Girls Next Door. I'm so intent on not watching it with Hef's new skanky twin girlfriends.. that's just weird.

That's all I've got. Unfortunately, my life has pretty much been encompassed by softball lately, which is my fault for joining another league, but I've kind of enjoyed it. I'm getting the opportunity to play the outfied, which I haven't done in a long time and I forgot how much I like it! Tonight's game was yet another rain out, as apparently a monsoon went through Nassau 2 hours before game time which really sucked because it ruined my managerial debut!!! I had a sick lineup all set to go...

Nytropalooza 2009

Oh yeah, those are Nytropalooza t-shirts! My sister tie dyed them all herself and she did an awesome job! Everyone loved them and many asked where they could get their own. Maybe we'll think about that for next year..
It's been a very busy week - Finally got to see Transformers 2, which was really good, but also really long! I knew that going in though, so I wasn't surprised..
Randi and Kupono were let go on SYTYCD and surprisingly, Evan wasn't even in the bottom two! I was pretty happy about that, but this week could be his last. Then again, I said that last week and apparently his fan base is way more than I expected so I guess you never know! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. PS - I still want to do dirty things to Tyce D'Orio. I can't help it. Even when he's bawling like a little girl after watching a routine he choreographed about breast cancer, he's still kinda sexy and saucy!
Does anyone else think TMZ should just change it's name to MJD (michael jackson death)? Cause I'm pretty sure that's all they're reporting on these days.
So, Mischa Barton has pulled a Britney. I mean, when Nicole Ritchie distances herself from you, you know you have to be one hot mess!

Happy Birthday to Alex Trebek!!! My favorite Canadian turned 69 today!!
I know I should have more since I've neglected you for so long, but like I said, crazy week and one in which I'm not feeling 100% so I'm gonna hightail it to bed in a Nyquil induced haze to attempt to remedy my scratchy throat situation. Ball games Thursday and Friday so don't have high expectations and you won't be disappointed ;)

I told you I'd be busy, but I have a post-it chock full, so I'll throw some quickies at you to placate the masses:

Today is National Corn Dog Day!!! I love corn dogs, but only at the Chatham Fair. It kind of feels wrong to eat them at any other time. Regardless, if you can find one today, eat one!!! I'll make up for it over Labor Day weekend, I promise!

Painted toenails are (to quote Cher Horowitz) a full-on Monet.. From far away, it's OK, but up close, it's a big old mess. Mine are proof positive of this... But hey.. unless you have a foot fetish, you're not getting that close, so who cares!?

I'm afraid my faves, Evan and Randi might hit the road tonight on So You Think You Can Dance :(. They were both good, but everyone else was PHENOMENAL! Seriously.. really awesome! Alumni Travis Wall choreographed a piece for Jeanine and Jason that was just amazing! I voted, so I have no one to blame but America!!!

Emmy nominations were handed out this morning and True Blood was TOTALLY snubbed! WTF Emmy voters!? In an interesting turn of events though, Jim Parson (Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory) got a Comedic Male Actor nod. Wouldn't it be sweet if he won!? I love that show! Long live the dorks!!! Perhaps they could just determine the winner through a rousing game of "Rock, paper, scissors, lizard, Spock!"

So, stupid me reads all the stuff online about Big Brother, and all I can say (without ruining anything of course) is that I have lost ALL respect for my girl Lydia.. I felt dirty just reading this (Don't read if you don't like spoilers).

Did I miss the memo that said Jeana Keough is leaving the Real OC Housewives for real!? I didn't believe it!! :( I hope this new "fan" gives Vicki a run for her money, that's all I'm saying!

I'm disturbed to find that Letourneau (as in Mary Kay) is in my Word dictionary. As in, I spelled it wrong, but the computer spelled it correctly for me. What is the world coming to?

Scream 4 is in the works, however Neve Campbell isn't saying yes... at least not yet.

In all my hub-bub about the Daughtry CD coming out on Tuesday, I neglected to mention that FINALLY The State has come to DVD. Unfortunately, they couldn't get a lot of licensing from songs used in the sketches, so I've heard some not so good things about that. Regardless, it's still the same pudding and other things we want to stick our balls in!! Last night I caught parts of "Michael and Michael have Issues" on Comedy Central. I think it'll be one of those shows that grown on me. I enjoyed it, but it's not yet must-see for me, which I find interesting cause I like that quirky sense of humor and I follow them both on Twitter!

So, Tony Romo dumped Jessica Simpson right before her Barbie and Ken themed birthday party. And she's sad and confused? Um... where's the confusion!? A 29 year old woman thought it was OK to have a Barbie AND KEN themed birthday party. I'd have dumped the crazy bitch too.

Renee Zellweger has signed on for a third Bridget Jones movie, wherein Bridget wants to have a baby. Start eating Renee!!!

I'm so tempted.

Ok.. post-its are done! I have another batch of mac and cheese to make and then some drinks with the girls, after we help Tre with her super secret Nytropalooza entertainment! I'm gonna try to take plenty of pics from the party, so it'll be like you were actually there!

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

I adore them both, but I just can't get behind this... I'm having a bad enough week, someone PLEASE tell me it's just a rumor!!!

My co-worker is on vacation for the first time since I've been at this job, so it seems to be "let's see how stupid we can make Kara feel" week.. It has NOT been fun for me. Just when things seem to be turning, I got a ticket for being on my cell phone.... in the parking lot of Crossgates Mall. What kind of crap is that?! I'm not saying I didn't deserve it, cause yes, I was on my phone. However, I NEVER do that! I'm always on my Bluetooth so it would figure the one time I do it, I get caught. That's been my luck this week.

I blame Chris Daughtry, cause if his new CD hadn't come out today, I wouldn't have had any reason to go to the mall. Damn you Daughtry... Damn you!

Finally, a reason to watch the "Schmemmy's!"

They NEVER show the good shit on TV!!! Spoilers attached, so if you care, don't read! Russell wont the Power of Veto, but Lydia convinced him to use it on her, and put up Braden in her place. Apparently, that didn't go over so well. I kinda hope Chima goes.. she gets on my nerves already and it hasn't even been a week. She said it herself, the pawn always goes home! In this case, I kinda hope so, although I could care less cause I'm not a huge fan of either of them!
How is it possible I didn't know Daughtry was performing on the Today Show this morning!? I'm headed out at lunch to pick up their new CD.. yes, there are very few CD's I still buy and his is one of them..

So.. hopefully this makes your day like it made mine..

Happy Bastille Day!!!!

Ok.. I admit, I just got done watching it and it wasn't his best vocal performance... Home was way better and that's on the same page however, I really don't care. Look at him!!!!

Just got back from running the Boilermaker race out in Utica, this weekend. I'll admit, it started off a little sketchy (HEAVY rain and an organizational clusterfuck thanks to that rain), but it went much better than planned. I shaved another minute off my 5K time and everyone survived the 15K. It was a beautiful day to run and it was actually kind of fun (and mostly downhill during my part, thank God!!). The spectators were like nothing I've ever seen before and once we got our first beer, the after party was worth it as well. To round out the weekend we went to Red Robin (some of us for the first time) and OH MY GOD I don't know if I've ever had such a great burger. Granted, we hadn't eaten anything substantial in approximately 17 hours, but it was still amazing!
The finish line... the greatest site I think I've ever seen!!!
All the girls... next time we do a "girls weekend" we aren't sure running should be involved.. Drinking yes... running.. NO! Still.. good time had by all..

Nikki and I enjoying some well earned beers at the after party

I'm beat, but quickly, let's discuss So You Think You Can Dance.. I'm not mad at the results this week. As much as Philip is really good at what he does, he's not so great at anything else, so it's really only fair for him to go and you KNEW there was no way he wouldn't be on tour regardless. As for Kaitlin, she just never thrilled me like she did during auditions, especially when Jeanine has showed so much promise and Melissa had never been in the bottom. I can not WAIT until they have to dance with new partners this week!!

Ok.. I'm exhausted and have a wicked headache so I'm cutting this one short. Hope everyone had a great weekend and I'll get back to you when I can. In other words, don't expect too much this week. I have ball games three out of five days and with Nytropalooza coming up this weekend, my time can be better spent on other preparatory things!! But if it's any consolation, I think it might finally be summer.....

It took long enough, but FINALLY the cast of Project Runway's new season (ugh.. on Lifetime) has been revealed!

To almost go along with that, the cast for the new season of Top Chef has also been revealed today! The next session is set in Las Vegas and there's a relatively attractive set of brothers competing. Oh, the excitement!

Seriously, sometimes I think she's batshit crazy, but I also think Mia Michaels is so f'n talented that it's scary. She just choreographed this routine about addiction and it was so amazing and so powerful. Absolutely insane...

And I love everything about Tabatha and Napoleon, especially when they choreograph for my faves, Randi and Evan..

I was all worried about the show not taking it's usual break this year, but I'm wicked excited to know that it's coming back so soon!

So how dumb do you think Lindsey Lohan feels right now? She's getting sued over her spray tan empire (I couldn't even write that with a straight face) and she turned down Heather Graham's role in The Hangover. Oh, hindsight sure is 20/20 isn't it?

Ball game tomorrow night, so you won't hear anything from me, but tune in to the season premiere of Big Brother AND Lost NYC Housewives footage.

Tuesday, July 07, 2009

I feel a little strange about the fact that 1) I have seen the Fox Family show "Make it or Break it" and 2) I have thoroughly enjoyed it and am kind of upset that I missed it so far this week. I think Fox Family is like Bravo though, so I"m sure an opportunity will present itself. For those not in the know, the show is basically a remake of the movie "Stick It," which I also (sadly) really enjoyed, even though it's basically a fluffy piece of crap. The greatest thing is that I somehow convinced Jason to see it with me... Ah, to be in love, the crazy things we do!

It looks like her character isn't the only one getting hitched...

NO!!! Not the Big Ragoo!!!

If Kelly Bensimon (oh, I'm sorry.. Kelly KILOREN Bensimon) is the only housewife back next season, there is no way I'm watching! I sure hope this is just a casting bump in the road! Speaking of the housewives, looks like Bethenny might have FINALLY found the one...

I really enjoyed the book, but I'm not sure how HBO could make a series out of Middlesex.

I hope Glee is a hit, because Jane Lynch has officially pulled out of Starz series "Party Down" for the Fox show. This reminds me that I actually need to watch ALL of Party Down in the very near future. I thought the first episode was hysterical, but I think anything Ken Marino is in takes the cake..

What is it about blonde ex-figure skaters that just screams "prison term?"

OK.. so I think we all know that Chris Daughtry could sing the phone book and I'd probably still scream like a little girl... The Lady Gaga song "Poker Face" has totally grown on me, but nothing is sexier than hearing him say "and baby when it's love if it's not rough it isn't fun." Check it out for yourself and no longer wonder about my love for him... (Thanks to Sandra for sending me the link this morning.. Now I'm angry that it took me until now to watch it!)

I think that's a good way to end my Tuesday, don't you!?

Monday, July 06, 2009

I wasn’t really feeling my lunch today, however I’m trying to be a good girl and not waste money if I don’t REALLY have to. So, I went into the kitchen to make my Smart Ones (roast turkey with mashed potatoes.. one of my faves) and when I opened the container it seems SOMEONE neglected to ever put the shrink wrap over the top of it. Let’s just say it sure did look like a hot mess and now I HAVE to go out to lunch. I had no idea what I wanted until my co-worker said she almost went to Moe’s. I had to go! Today is Burrito Monday!!! So sometimes, everything works out just as it should..

I had one of those Jeff Foxworthy “here’s your sign” moments this morning and unfortunately, it would have been me that got the sign! I was in the kitchen (do you see a trend?) and someone was at the coffee makers and kind of jumped as they got sprayed with coffee.. My response: “Hot!?” Yeah.. I said that. I kind of wanted her to turn around and go “no, dumbass.. it’s freezing cold.” But she was nice enough not to do so, which is somewhat surprising! So yes.. where’s my sign!?

Big Brother begins on Thursday and there are some weird things going on in the house, as far as competitions and such. Check out the cast when you get a chance.

It might be in his best interest if Jim Leyritz just stopped leaving the house… Well, that or just kept to himself... Maybe that would be better..

I don’t watch anymore, but I think the addition of Drea De Matteo to the Desperate Housewives could get interesting…

As if he didn't get screwed enough in the movies, Ron Weasely got the swine flu!!!

Ok, those were just some quickies that I found from my post-it that I left at work all weekend. Plus, I know I’ll never have a chance to check in later. Hope you’re all suffering through your holiday weekend hangover and working hard!

Sunday, July 05, 2009

Hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July festivities!

I started off my long weekend by heading to Six Flags New England with the girls. We hit the big rides first, which means my stomach was NOT feeling so hot afterwards. I made it through all the big rides and had a blast, but I sure did waste money on lunch, cause I really couldn't eat it. It downpoured as we were eating lunch (convenient) and we then got soaked on a flume ride, so we might as well have just stood out in hte rain instead. Same effect.. We all won super hero capes (mine is purple batman cape) and they came in handy as umbrellas when the rain tried to come again later in the day. And yes, we were the over 30 year olds wearing capes around the park. I mean, we weren't gonna see those people ever again, what did we care, right?! Anyway, it was a fun, but extremely tiring day and I think we were all ready to pass out on the ride home. When I got home I stayed awake long enough to watch Transformers (the first one) and then hit the hay, even though I found out this guy I've ADORED for years was out that night. Not even THAT could have gotten me out of bed, so what does that tell you!?

Thursday night was interesting.. I went to J's sister's house for dinner. I had to pick up something I ordered from her and so she ordered pizza and we hung out for a few hours. I was kind of.... unsure about it. I mean, she's his sister, so obviously I'm the bad guy, but considering she mentioned dinner, perhaps she knows he's a dink and that's just life :). I was waiting for her to address the elephant in the room, since she's usually a pretty direct person, but she never did. I certainly didn't, as I didn't really think it was my place. Regardless, it was nice to see the whole family. His niece is even funnier than she was before and it was fun to catch up with his sister and brother in law. However, I'm very curious to know if he knows that went down. I have a feeling I'll never know, much like our break up! lol..

I caught "Dance Your Ass Off" on Oxygen the other day and while it's no So You Think You Can Dance, it was pretty entertaining. That, and I felt like such a loser by watching it while laying on the couch that I hopped on the treadmill to watch instead. It was entertaining. I doubt it'll be event TV for me, but I'll definitely try to catch it, as I already have favorites..

As far as So You Think You Can Dance goes, I could not have been happier with Vitolio's ousting this week. I don't know why, but he never grew on me and I found him to be a little cocky and annoying. He'd been in the bottom too many times not to go, but I wasn't sure what would happen. I was a little concerned for my girl Kayla, as her solo was far from great and if she had been in the bottom before, I think she would have gone instead of Karla. I honestly didn't want to see any of the girls go, but (as Cat Deeley would say) "that's why I hate Thursdays!" We're already down to the top 6 couples, and Nigel finally announced the secret (or non-secret) that will be Katie Holmes' performance on the show on July 23rd, SYTYCD's 100th episode.

I'm kind of embarrassed, yet still excited by this.

Apparently sometimes that whole "when one door closes, another will open" adage really rings true.

This afternoon I have my first softball game with a new team. I'm curious to see how it goes. Apparently our team isn't so good, which doesn't bother me all that much, even though I sure do love to win. I just don't want to not play well. I'm forcing my sister to hit me some grounders and fly balls before the game so I don't go in cold. I haven't done anything but catch in co-ed the last two years, so I'm a little out of practice at other positions. Also, there's a "coach" who I have a feeling thinks more highly of himself and his coaching ability then he should. Luckily there is a 2 inning minimum play rule (ya know, like tee ball) so he can't bench me the whole time! So yeah.. hopefully I play well, cause I really hate showing up for nothing, especially when I know I'm as good as, if not better than most of the other players.

Well, it's a lazy Sunday, so I need to finish my laundry and practice my skills! Hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend. Don't count on a post tomorrow.. ball game in Nassau to contend with.

2110 Eutaw Street is a new promotion the O's have going on, where you sit in a certain section in the outfield that's labeled as such for Nick Markakis and Adam Jones (#'s 21 and 10 respectively). You also get a really cool t-shirt that says "I live at 2110 Eutaw Street!" Well, I'm happy to say that after too long of a hiatus, I've managed to get the family back to Camden Yards and on August 29th and 30th we're going to go watch them play Cleveland. On the 30th, I will get my t-shirt, without the aid of Ebay, as I'd originally expected I would have to! Nice thing is that on Saturday night we'll get to see Harold Baines get inducted in the O's Hall of Fame. I've always liked him.. I'm seriously bouncing off the walls I'm so excited.. I'm sure Cleveland fans won't be quite as.... abrasive as the usual AL fans (you know who you are).

Wednesday, July 01, 2009

Well, all I can say is that THIS is a great thing to wake up to! Suck it Sox fans.. at least for one night!
