Just got back from seeing The Hangover.. FINALLY! Absolutely hysterical!! There are so many great lines and parts, that there's no possible way I could pick just one. However, I'm pretty sure I have a wicked crush on Bradley Cooper. He is one sexy son of a bitch! I mean, I even complimented his hair and we all know I could care less about that. As a matter of fact, I'm not normally even a fan of hair! So yeah, definitely a must-see flick, with PLENTY of quoteables, including Fat Jesus and Raytard... If you've seen it, you'll get it. If not, check it out and get with the program!

I'm attempting to make up for months of neglecting my Netflix queue (where am I? London?) by watching the movies I get as quickly as possible. Sunday I watched Rachel Getting Married and The Wrestler. Both were very good, at least I thought so! Anne Hathaway was definitely worthy of an Oscar nomination for the role and Mickey Rourke was just so... well.. sad! I loved wrestling when I was a kid and totally thought it was real, and I have to say, it LOOKED quite real in the movie. Before I saw the movie I kind of thought the role was overrated, but I'm glad I was proven wrong again, much like I was with Heath Ledger's Joker performance. And yes, if I look anything like Marisa Tomei when I'm her age, I wouldn't ever wear clothes. She looks AMAZING!!!

As we should know by now, I'm a big fan of True Blood, and while I can't watch it right when it airs since I don't have HBO, I always manage to find a way. Last night I searched everywhere on the internet and finally found a site that would let me watch the third episode, which has been touted as the one where things really get started! I don't want to spoil things, but let's just say it didn't disappoint me! I'm just pissed that there's no new episode until July 12th.. WTF HBO? Anyway, Eric the sexiest Vampire Sheriff I know I've ever seen, might not have always been quite so... dirty sexy hot (and the fact that I think a blonde is hot is, in itself, a mirace). First of all, his father is Stellan Skarsgard, who played Matt Damon's Harvard professor nemesis in Good Will Hunting (not hot). We can get over that.. however, he played male model Meekus in Zoolander. If I recall, he was kind of skinny and NOTHING like what he is now. He growed up REAL good!

I'd write more but I'm full of popcorn, which apparently was not as good an idea as it seemed at the time. Plus, there's no real news beyond the Michael Jackson saga and we all know I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole. Well that and all the stuff on my post-it is too old for anyone to care about. Get ready for your hump day!

Today I met my friends' son, Parker Smith:

He's a little bitty thing, with BIG lungs if you know what I mean.. I have some better pics of him, but I can't seem to figure out how to rotate the image so you'll just have to deal until I figure it out!

Last night, I tested out this recipe I got for beer margaritas.. I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome!

Other than that, my weekend was pretty mellow. I DD'd on Friday night, and basically caught up on my TV shows on Saturday and cleaned.

Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett were married yesterday at the Playboy Mansion. Hef was supposed to walk her down the aisle, but she opted to have her brother do the honors instead.

Billy Mays (of Mighty Putty fame) has died at the age of 50. No one has been real precise as to the cause of death, but apparently he hit his head during a US Air landing when tires blew on the plane during landing. What a crazy week it's been huh?

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend and are looking forward to the fact that (for most) it's a short work week!

I knew I couldn't NOT post about this, but I was avoiding it at all costs, for fear that all will turn on me and my opinions, but such is life I guess, so here goes!

Bad things seem to happen in 3's and it certainly did so in the entertainment world, with the passing of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson.

I don't have much to say beyond that all three will be sorely missed by both their families and the entertainment world, however I can't pretend the Michael Jackson thing shocked me. Timing wise, yes. 50 is far from old, and the fact that he has three young children is even more tragic! But seriously.. he's been said to be in ill health for years.. It was bound to happen sometime. Is it unfortunate? Absolutely. He's an icon in his field and has done more for pop music than probably anyone else will. But if you had asked the majority of the common folk mourning his loss about him on Tuesday, the phrases child molester, pedophile and freak would probably have come up more than the phrases and accolades he earned in his career.

I certainly don't intend to belittle his death by any means. I find him to be one of the most talented people to ever walk the earth and I only hope he is forever remembered as the King of Pop.. not the guy who dangled his baby over a balcony, know what I mean?

I feel a little bad for Farrah.. She had a few hours before the Michael Jackson news overtook the news. She put herself on display (and no, I"m not talking about that Playboy spread), good or bad and I respect that.

Then there's Ed... He's Ed McMahon for God's sake.. what more do you have to say!?

Hopefully, the three is over..

I NEVER have my camera with me when I want to, but last night was an exception. This was the view on my way home from work:

It was the most perfect rainbow I had ever seen. I couldn't get far enough away to get the full effect, but it was unreal! You could actually see where it ended (well... where it looked like it ended) and I can vouch that there was no pot of gold to be seen! What a farce! I could have used it in this economy!!

It's a good indication that the day isn't going to go your way when you pull out of your driveway directly behind a tractor. Once I passed him I got behind, you guessed it, ANOTHER tractor. Seriously!? Where do I live? Kansas!?

Since I was late (thank you tractors), I was speeding to work. I have a lead foot anyway, but today was a little more than usual. Luckily, a kind driver flashed his lights to let me know there was a State Trooper hiding in the weeds, not in his normal spot. Thank GOD! The last thing I need right now is a speeding ticket!

It really bothers me when people say "hello, how are you?" Not that part, but when I do answer with "good thanks, how are you?" and they don't answer! Um.. I answered your question, and I asked you one back. The least you can do is answer it, even though I don't really give a shit how your day is going. I feel like I've mentioned this peeve on the blog before, but I think it bears repeating..

If you pay any attention to this blog, you'll notice the same two movies have been at my house for MONTHS... I finally managed to watch Girlfight last night, and am in the process of watching Memoirs of a Geisha as we speak. Both have been good, I just didn't quite have the interest in them. I love watching movies, but when I feel like I'm forced to do so, it's not as much fun. I just felt like I had to suck it up and watch them cause I certainly wasn't getting my money's worth!

I was going to watch Jon and Kate Plus 8, with their big announcement and all, but it's already all over the internet so why waste my time!?

Speaking of splits (seriously.. what is HAPPENING in Hollywood these days?) add Billy Joel and Katie Lee Joel to the list (I mean really.. who saw THAT ONE coming?) along with Jane Kaczmarek and Bradley Whitford. I'll admit, that last one totally surprised me. They always seemed so perfect for each other and so in love! I guess that's why they're actors, right?

Rumor is that Katie Holmes will be making an appearance on the finale of So You Think You Can Dance. It's been kept pretty hush-hush, but there's always a source "close to the set" to give the skinny..

Damnit.. since that sugar daddy post on facebook did nothing, I was thinking of a new career but now even that could be an economic failure!

Matthew McConaughey's wife is expecting their second bundle of joy, while it's once again rumored that Gisele Bundchen is sporting the most sought after model accessory.. a baby bump!

Things are a little crazy at work lately.. I'm pretty sure one of my co-workers is batshit crazy... like certifiable and another has shingles. And did I mention that we're not getting raises this year and there's a kibosh on the overtime? Perhaps NOW you see the significance of my need for a sugar daddy..

Ball game tomorrow night, and visiting with Brian and Kate's new addition on Wednesday. Gosh I hope this week goes by as quickly as today did! Hope your Monday wasn't too tough to get through!!
This morning, my friend Rachael and I were discussing my man situation (or lack thereof):

R: Heehee. You date the most random boys. Maybe you should just slap them all before you start dating them...
K: I don't do it on purpose :(. Aren't you supposed to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince?
R: A lot of frogs, Kara. Not EVERY frog. ;-)
K: Hmm.. I missed that part.

I'm thinking she either just called me a whore or is saying I have no taste in men... the second one would obviously be true. If the first were, I'd certainly get more action...

Funny how your not so busy weekend, turns into something more. Happy Father's Day, first of all! Hope everyone was good to their daddies! I know I had a great lunch with my Dad, not to mention I got him the O's sweatshirt he very subtly hinted about, so that worked! Earlier this morning I tried to run up a hill. That didn't go so well. I made it about halfway up before I gave up. What can I say? It was MUGGY!!!!

Friday night we went out for my friend Nikki's birthday. Here are some pics of the short lived debauchery that ensued:

We had a great time, even thought the night started and ended earlier than anticipated, and I STILL haven't gotten into the hot tub that everyone threatens me with!

In the "what a small world" category... I'm sure everyone's heard that Mia Farrow's brother committed suicide earlier this week. The twist is that he did it in his gallery in the small town of Castleton, Vermont, where I went to college. Not much happens there besides underage drinking so I'm sure it made quite an impression on the town!

True Blood started last week, and I could not have been more excited. What made it even better is that it was a weekend of free HBO, so I was able to watch it in real time, as opposed to avoiding all talk of it until I get to Sue's to watch it with her! Anyway, it started the new season with a bang and (SPOILER ALERT) unlike the books, Lafayette is ALIVE!! Seriously.. how could they have gotten rid of him anyway? He's the most entertaining character on the show!

The first performance show of the season for So You Think You Can Dance was by far one of the best I've ever seen, but someone had to go! The next week really didn't live up to the hype and while I didn't agree with everyone in the bottom three, of those, I thought the right girl left. As for the boy, I didn't think it was time for Max to go! Granted, it's harder for ballroom dancers with the solo, but I didn't think Kapono's was strong enough combined with the dancing to keep him in the competition. For once, I actually voted, so I have every right to bitch about who went home.

I've been trying to catch Top Chef Masters, but it hasn't been event television for me. Still, I've enjoyed watching these master chefs kind of get their ass handed to them, and even be judged by some old Top Chef competitors. It's nice to see that even the stars in their field suck every once in a while!

Oh, my New Jersey Housewives! The finale was this week and as expected, drama ensued. Thanks to what I call "getting told by the producers," Teresa invited Danielle to her "housewarming" dinner party (which was not held at her house). Shit hit the fan when Danielle busted out "the book" and laid it on the dinner table in the middle of the party. She then proceeded to bitch out Dina for peddling the book around, and after letting it go for a while, Mama Bear Caroline took the blame for it. It's doubtful that it's true, but I LOVED the way she went about it. Since Danielle ruined her dinner party, Teresa flipped her shit (and a table) to get her point across to Danielle that she's a skanky whore. I don't know if it worked, cause Danielle still thinks her shit doesn't stink. I'm just kind of appalled that she had no qualms about starting all this drama while her daughters sat by and watched. I mean, what kind of mother does that? At least Teresa asked people to take her kids out of the room, which was probably good considering the f-bombs that were dropped during this conversation. The reunion will air on both Tuesday and Thursday, cause while it was a short season (damn you Bravo!), there's a LOT of dirt to muddle through. God damn, I can't wait!

Speaking of which, does THIS surprise anyone?

Fakeness? On The Hills? Say it ain't so!! (hey.. I watch the show, yes.. but I'm not a TOTAL idiot about it!)

Let's just say that Lindsey Lohan is NOT having a good week: Yet another Samantha Ronson breakup and being accused of thievery? Oh Lindsey.. when's that comeback gonna happen? She needs rehab, jail, or... oh wait.. She DID all those didn't she?

I'm happy to say the O's have been doing well the last few days or so, sweeping the Phillies and taking two of three from the Mets, which was pretty satisfying for me. I think I won a bet off that one as well, if my buddy decides to pay up! Also, Matt Wieters got his first major league home run the other night and Aubrey Huff has done quite a job in the game ending, clutch situations! Ah, if only there were pitching (although even that's been decent as of late... for the most part).

I left one of my post-it's at work, so I'm afraid this is all I've got for now. If I find some interesting stuff on the post-it sitting at my work station, I'll be sure to update you.

Hope everyone enjoyed their Father's Day AND their weekend!

Wednesday, June 17, 2009

It's been a busy week and yes, I have a post-it, but no time to blog. To hold you over, I'll throw you some pics from Saturday's Flag Day celebration..

Nikki and I, kicking it on Fish's front porch for the pregame
Mmmmm... Margaritas.... YUMMY!!!Jen and I borrowed these hats from some guys in a band... I don't think they minded.. They say "no shots," but they never mean it!

It was definitely a good time had by all, even those who will remain nameless that had to go home earlier than others! I swear I'll post this weekend it's just been a crazy week, life and work-wise..

All I can say is, if you didn't watch the Real Housewives of NJ finale last night, it got ugly! But good ugly, as far as reality TV goes. Check it out and we'll chat about it later..

Happy Hump Day (as always)!

Thursday, June 11, 2009

I know, again with the slackerdom. What can I say? It’s been a very busy week for me and I warned you all on Sunday that it would be.

I can’t believe people were actually shocked by this revelation

Kendra Wilkinson and her fiancĂ© Hank Baskett are expecting their first child on or around Christmas Day. Guess who’s gonna be the godfather!?

James Van Der Beek and his wife have separated. Let the Dawson and Joey fans unite in joy! In other dumping news, Paris Hilton has apparently dumped one-time Hills alum Doug Reinhardt to the curb by her publicist, while Miley Cyrus and Justin Gaston have also split. Seriously.. what happened in Hollywood over the weekend?

If you’re a fan of the awkwardness that is called the fourth hour of the Today Show with Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford, you might not want to tune in next week. There’ll be a different Real Housewife a day in Kathie Lee’s place when she takes a vaca next week. That could be worth a DVR taping for sure!

DC has turned into the happening place to be for reality TV.

True Blood returns on Sunday night for its second season. I bought the first season on DVD a few weeks ago, but I haven’t had a chance to watch yet. I’m thinking that might be Sunday’s goal, what with me more than likely nursing a Hudson Flag Day hangover! Hey.. very few things happen here, we take what we can get. The weather looks nice and the pregame starts at noon. What more could you ask for?

Sunday, June 07, 2009

Yesterday I ran my second OK 5K race ever, and I am very happy to say that I shaved 2 full minutes off my time from last year. I'm sure the weather had a little something to do with it, considering it was about a million degrees last year, but I'll take it! Rested most of the day yesterday, then got ready to hit the town with my friend Stephanie for the night. However, we had to stop at Meadowgreens first and put a wager on the Belmont Stakes. My cousin Chrissy won some cash, but the rest of us were shut out. Here are some pics from last night:

Our gaggle of girls, basically the minute we got into the bar.

We met these guys right when we walked in. When I found out how old they are, I nicknamed them Baby Gap and Gymboree. They didn't seem to mind!

Me, Steph, Brian and Jen

Tre and I at Mahoney's

Those were for you Maureen!! You get what you ask for!

Today is going to be a day full of laundry and perhaps some cleaning. A waste of a beautiful day, but has to be done!

Anyway, happy belated b'day to Chris (even though I DID wish it to him yesterday, I didn't get a chance to log onto the blog to do so)! Hope your birthday weekend was the best!

Could have an interesting week on tap, but I'll blog to the best of my ability! Don't get your hopes up ;)

Santa Claus brought me a desk calendar for Christmas called "Getting in Touch With Your Inner Bitch." This was today's entry:

An Inner Bitch Reminder:

Any woman who's ever worn a bridesmaid dress knows everything there is to know about toxic niceness.

All I can say about that is AMEN.

What’s that phrase about biting the hand that feeds you?

I don’t know who all of them are, but I respect their beliefs..

I thought this was kind of a given…

Matt Wieters made his Orioles debut on Friday night and was put to the test on the first batter, who bunted on the newbie. Wieters made a very clean play and gave O’s fans hope for the future. His hitting hasn’t been quite what they’d hoped, but he’s a puppy and according to sources, Markakis never started out too hot and look at him now! Off night tonight for the O’s after watching Ichiro extend his hitting streak and losing 2 of 3. Maybe a night off is just what the doctor ordered.

Congratulations to go out to my friends, Brian and Kate, who had their first child yesterday. His name is Parker and he was 6 lbs, 2 oz and 19 inches long. The funniest thing is that just yesterday morning I texted Kate asking if she was ever having this kid. Mere hours later, I had a picture mail from Brian proving that she did indeed, have him! The same thing happened when my friend Sue had her baby back in February. I called her on my way home from work to see if she had the baby, and I get a call less than an hour later from her sister, telling me that Karley was born. It’s crazy. I’m like, the baby whisperer or something!

Also yesterday, my mom had surgery on her foot to get rid of a bunion. That is some nasty stuff! I could see the pins through the ace bandage and everything. I do NOT want to see what’s underneath that bandage (no offense mom). She was doing alright yesterday, but the drugs obviously wore off today and she’s in quite a bit of pain! I have to compile some books and movies for her to watch during her non-mobile phase, as obviously my cooking won’t help!

Friday night, my friends and I converged on Joe’s, as our friend’s band was playing there. It’s not a place we frequent, but since the band was playing, we made the trip. Down the street. Yep.. it’s literally down the street. It was like a sauna in there, but damnit, they have great wings!!! Their first song was a little shaky, but they pulled it together and we had a good time. Tara wanted to be sure to point out that the bathroom there has a curtain (I believe it’s hunter green lace) over the mirror, like the mirror is a window. Apparently I drank too many pitchers (and shots, so unlike me) to make this observation! I guess when you have two kids to get up with in the morning observing, rather than drinking your face off is a better option! My sister and our friend Amy insist they’re going to build a stage so these guys can play at Nytropalooza 2009, but I’ll believe it when I see it!

Tuesday night, I went to my sister’s sectional game (they lost.. terrible umps also!) and after that me, mom and Tre had dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (awesome). While Tre went to get my car, I walked through the mall to Macy’s to pick up some makeup at Lancome. This very tall, very well dressed black man was getting directions at one of the kiosks in the middle of the mall and he was a bit ahead of me. He suddenly turned around and then passed me, and I’m thinking “poor guy must REALLY be lost!” So as I get to Macy’s, I hear a voice say “excuse me.” I turn around, and it’s that guy. He asks me if I know where the Verizon store is, but I tell him that I don’t, as I don’t have Verizon. He then asks what I have and I tell him Sprint (Why? I have no idea). He asks me my name, and if I live in Albany and not once do I think to not answer his questions! He tells me his name is James and he lives in Atlanta but used to live in Albany. When I tell him where I live (because he asked) he tells me he had been down to a bar in Hudson, the Quarterback Club. I let him know that was in Catskill, not Hudson! Anyway, we’re chatting and he suddenly asks me if I’m single, which totally threw me off. Luckily, some people he knew were coming out of Macy’s, so he stops to say hi to them and they to him (and me, guilty by association!) As I’m sitting there, I’m like “what do I do?” Do I leave or do I stay and I was just flabbergasted by the fact that I’m just realizing I’m getting hit on.. in the mall. So once he’s done with his conversation, we start to walk into the mall and he again asks me if I’m single. I just kind of started to smile and laugh cause he was NOT letting up! I finally said “no, not really” (hello bold-faced lie) and he said that was too bad, but he was very glad that he got to see my beautiful smile. He said he was sorry for bothering me and I had to admit to him that he kinda made my night. I mean, who doesn’t want to get hit on, even if it’s in the mall?!
In breaking news, David Carradine was found dead in Bangkok, Thailand and right now, it looks to be a suicide. He’s best known for his role on Kung Fu and as “Bill” in Quentin Tarantino’s “Kill Bill.”

This past weekend Susan Boyle lost Britain’s Got Talent to a dance team named Diversity. She was quite gracious in defeat, but shortly thereafter was checked into a hospital for “exhaustion.” Can’t say I blame the poor thing. A week or two out of the media spotlight will certainly do her some good!

I think I have this… seriously! I’ve had some weird elbow pains lately…

Why does Hollywood always insist on ruining a good thing? I hope they don’t, but I love this movie so much that it’ll have to be AMAZING!!

This ALMOST makes me never want to eat an Egg McMuffin again.. ALMOST..

Speaking of eating, Tre and I had our first experience at a Buffalo Wild Wings Bar and Grill this past weekend. They put one in at the Kingston Mall, so we had dinner there. We got spicy garlic boneless wings (very spicy.. not all that garlicy) and I had a garlic parmesan flatbread which was awesome! I’d definitely go back and I’m glad they finally filled up the space that used to be occupied by one of the best restaurants ever.. The Ground Round! At least now when the commercials come on TV, I know what it’s like!

Remember when I felt real dirty about finding Daniel Radcliffe attractive in Equus? Well.. I now have a reason to feel dirty because (to Twilight fans) I am firmly on Team Jacob, in that I don’t find Robert Pattinson even slightly attractive… and even a little skeevy. Now that I’ve seen the trailer for New Moon, I love Jacob even more… and then I found out he’s 17. I feel so Mrs. Robinson.
I know, I’ve been a slacker! To get back into your good graces I’m going to try to do a few small posts today, and update you on my week.

This one will be a Bravo-centric post. It looks like my girl, Jeana Keough, has yet to commit to another season of the OC Housewives, and it might not be in the cards for her. That would leave Vicki as the only original housewife left and while I’ll still watch, I won’t enjoy it as much. Come on, we ALL have our favorites!!!

Shit hit the fan on Tuesday night’s episode of the Jersey Housewives, as Danielle was “unmasked” as crack-whore (ok, those are my words), delinquent, ex-prostitute, Danielle Staub. It was a little anti-climactic for me, but I really enjoy it when Danielle (who acts like she’s holier than though, but is kind of a ho.. ok.. not kinda.. she IS a ho and SUCH an awesome role model for her children) gets called out on her shit. I mean, Dina doesn’t pretend to be anything but what she is, and I dig that about her. Danielle, lives in her own world of delusion, and I agree with Caroline that I wish Jacquelyn would just step out of it. There’s not good in every person, as is evidenced by her! And seriously people, I wanted to jump through the television and rip her cougar claws off my Albie! It was painful to watch…

Bravo is changing its tagline “Watch What Happens.” I kinda like it, although if I never have to hear Andy Cohen say it 1400 times a reunion, it’ll be too soon!

Top Chef Masters premieres next Wednesday, taking over the spot vacated by last night’s Make Me A Supermodel finale. I was slightly surprised by the outcome, but Branden really did grow throughout the season, while Jonathan (hubba hubba) and Sandhurst were impressive throughout and just never really stepped it up the way they should have in the final.

Top Chef’s next season will be set in Las Vegas, where many past contestants made their living both before and after the show, which should give us some interesting and entertaining challenges. Think Siegfried and Roy will guest judge!?
