I ran my second 5K ever on Friday night in 38 minutes. The first one I ran in 37:38, but I ran the whole thing. This one had a few hills, which is something I don't do ever. So, I made it approximately 2 and a quarter miles before I walked for a bit. I was pretty happy that I finished it and hopefully I'll manage to run the whole way through my next one.

Saturday I went up to Vermont for our annual Scorpion Bowl weekend, which was fun. The weather was hot and I wish I'd had the chance to hang out more and see more people, but the weekend was way too busy to do so. I left the house around 9 am and got home around 12:30 am. It was a VERY long day and the last thing I wanted to do was get up early on Sunday, but there was a softball game so I didn't have a choice. I walked twice, got a hit and caught the entire game. Needless to say, I was sweaty and exhausted. However, I had a baby shower directly after so I basically had to body shower and try to salvage my hair in order to get there close to on time. Tre and I had big goals for Sunday, but they never materialized.. Instead we both passed out on the couch.. guess the weekend had finally caught up to us!!

My co-worker has just started selling Madison Handbags, so I'll be having a party in May. I'm excited cause I want one for myself and hopefully people will buy and/or have their own party so I don't have to pay full price!!!

The Food Network has announced a show called "Worst Cooks in America." I'm pretty sure I should be in the running to be on it.

Sadly, Bea Arthur died over the weekend and in other sad news, it seems Heidi and Spencer actually DID get married and are spending time in Cabo San Lucas.. what do you think the chances are they'll get swine flu? Cross your fingers....

Apparently the Albany Firebirds offered Michael Vick a contract.. unbeknownst to most of the Firebirds and their front office. Apparently it was a bad idea gone wild..

In a bit of a shocker, Chuck Wicks and Julianne Hough got voted off DWTS this week. Melissa Rycroft was out with a rib injury and had the lowest scores, but it looks like the sympathy vote paid off, because she and the love of my life, Tony Dovolani live to dance another day. I admit, I didn't want Chuck and Julianne to go home, but I did give Melissa and Tony three sympathy votes out of my six online votes. The final five are Shawn Johnson, Lil Kim, Melissa Rycroft, Gilles Marini and Ty Murray. Who would have thought that!?

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are expecting twin girls via a surrogate, so maybe all that marriage ending talk will stop.. for a while.. I have a feeling those girls will give Suri Cruise a run for her money in the fashion department.

Is this week ever going to end!? It has really been the slowest week ever and I'm looking forwared to heading out for the Kentucky Derby on Saturday and maybe even winning a little cash with a well placed bet... but don't worry.. I'm not holding my hand on my ass waiting for THAT to happen. My betting skills usually revolve around which horse is wearing the prettiest color!

So to add to the Jason saga, I hadn't heard from him since last week's debacle, when he texted me on Saturday night (after 10:00 - beer muscles anyone?) and we had this exchange:

J - Hate me?
K - To use my phrase you used against me "I really don't like you right now"
J - Gotcha
K - What did you expect?
J - Was just wondering. Didn't expect anything
K - That's a good thing

He then texted me last night - "Like me yet?" A text which I didn't respond to. I then get a text today telling me that the place where he works is closing as of Friday, so guess who's out of a job. I've been there and done that (the whole unemployment thing) so obviously I have compassion, so of course I responded to the text, but sent another one making it abundantly clear that these were extenuating circumstances and that I did not yet like him or want to talk to him. I don't think he got the point though. I talked him off the ledge and also sent him some job postings. What can I say? I'm a giver.

That's all I've got for you guys. Perhaps if the O's were doing better, I'd have a bit more to say but alas, that is not the case right now! I was going to go to a game with my Dad on May 20th at Yankee Stadium, but I ended up having a ball game so I decided not to take the tickets. The train that goes straight to Yankee Stadium doesn't start running until the 23rd and if I'm going to Yankee Stadium, I'd much rather go that route and NOT sit in the bleachers. So, still no plans to catch a game this year...

Anyway, I'll try to be better with the posting but lately the last thing I want to do when I get home at night is turn on the computer. I'll try harder I promise! Hope you all got over the hump ok and made it through the warm weather we had this past weekend!!
Thank God I don't have a boyfriend or I'd have to abandon the blog altogether!! And no, that doesn't mean you all should pray I don't find one.. I might have less time, but at least I'd have more ammo!!!

Sorry I've been a slacker. Just had lots to do and little time in which to do it.

You can't tell me that you don't think there is SOMETHING wrong about this advertisement... And yes.. this was the "pet of the day" on the Register Star (Hudson's local newspaper) website.

So remember how the other day I was telling you about me saying what might be one of the meanest things ever? Well.. apparently that's not something you can come back from. As you might have been able to figure out, I said it to Jason, and he decided that "he doesn't know who the hell I am anymore" and other such nonsense. Apparently the boy has never EVER said something he regrets and/or didn't mean. So, basically, I'm the devil and he wants nothing to do with me. At first I was upset, but the more I think about it, the more I get angry. I mean, people make mistakes and I've done nothing but try to atone for it for the last four days. Apparently, that's not enough. He thinks I should "move on, because he doesn't think it would ever work between us anyway." That's unfortunate, but hey... you can't make someone feel a certain way and if something that small makes THAT much of an impact, then I don't know what to say or do about it and maybe that's ok. Seriously, if I ever attempt to date someone who's name starts with a J again, make sure someone tells me to run away screaming (Toine - not quite sure if Jimmy is off limits on this one... he might get the bye).

Last night I decided to go to Express and the Gap and see if I could fit into some size 12's. I have my rugby reunion on Saturday and I'd really like to look good, not like I'm wearing jeans that are too big. So, I went to the Gap and got a pair that I can wear with flip flops or sneakers. However, I tried on a pair that were so perfect... except for the fact that they were about a foot too long. I'm not kidding.. it was kind of crazy how long they were. Considering I don't have the time or patience to do the whole alteration thing, I didn't buy them. I went to the Express in Colonie Center, which was so much better than going to Crossgates where I almost bitch slapped the skinny salesgirl. I managed to find ONE pair of size 12's and even my Mom agreed they looked good on me, so it must be true! As I was leaving Macy's (where I parked), this black salesman was VERY friendly and made sure to tell me to have a good night and then some (I'm not saying it to be racist, him being black will be important later on in the story). Anyway, the whole time I'm regretting not buying the jeans that were too long. I swear, they fit me like a glove!! So, I went into work today and was telling a couple of people about it and they're all like "there's a tailor around the corner." Great.. NOW you tell me! So, after only a little bit of deliberation, I decided I needed to go back to get them... RIGHT THAT SECOND. I was so afraid to wait for the day to be over that I went out the minute the mall opened to get them and luckily, they were there. Funny thing is, I parked in the Macy's lot, same as I always do and when I walk in the door, the SAME guy is working the counter. I wasn't aware it was him until he said "you came back!" How random is that?! So he's then asking me if I worked there, cause why else would I have been back so soon. So I had to tell him that it was because I let a deal slip by and had to take advantage. Luckily I was on the phone when I left and he had a customer, so there was no time for small talk. What can I say? The black boys seem to love my junk in the trunk and there is nothing I can do about it but appreciate that they appreciate! When I went to the Gap the salesgirl there also remembered me. If these people close the store, shouldn't they not have to open the next day?

Today was Administrative Professionals Day, so we got some gifts and had a nice luncheon at work. I managed to walk away with a few candles and votive holder, along with $20 in Simply Certificates. I certainly can't complain about that AND a free lunch.

Project Runway is FINALLY coming back and I'm so excited, even if I have to watch it on Lifetime. Speaking of Heidi Klum, she is also pregnant once again, and seemingly hoping for a girl so her daughter has a partner in crime. I'm sure she's also looking for she and Seal to have a biological girl, as Leni is her daughter with ex, Flavio Briatore.

Dog Chapman was shot at while out trying to pick up a fugitve, but don't worry.. he didn't get hit AND he got the guy.. eventually!

I finished the Tori Spelling book, Stori Telling, while at the gym last night. I love a good memoir, but I really enjoyed reading this book. I've kind of always felt bad for Tori cause I thought she got a bad rap and her book was very entertaining. I might even pick up her new book, Mommywood, cause I can only imagine what insights she'll have on motherhood!

I left my post-it at work, so I'm sure there's a ton I'm missing, but I really tried to give it a go!

Happy Administrative Professionals Day, Earth Day and (most importantly) Hump Day. Hump 'em if you got 'em and try to find me one as well!!! Preferably bald with good arms and whose name doesn't start with J ;)

NO!!! A kid from The Sandlot can't go down the wrong path!!!

The Rock of Love Bus reunion show was a bit of a snoozer.. and I'm also guessing this one ain't gonna last either. Damn you Bret.. when are you gonna find the one?! Daisy of Love starts on Sunday!!!

There's gonna be a lot of chart carrying on Grey's Anatomy, as Ellen Pompeo (Meredith) is pregnant..

I bowled in the pro-am on Friday night and had an absolute blast. Our pros weren't throwing the ball so hot, but regardless, they shoot 200. When one of our guys didn't, we decided they should buy us a round, and buy us rounds they did. I hadn't had a chance to eat dinner, so I was pretty well in the bag by the time it was over. After the tournament they do a shoot out, where 8 guys bowl against each other to see who gets the most strikes. We all threw in $5 and picked out of a hat and believe it or not, my guy won! In the meantime, I was trying to find a ride home and managed to say the most heinous thing I ever could say to someone and because of that, I'm in the midst of a bit of an issue. I've spent my entire weekend apologizing in text and voice mail messages, but only today did I get any sort of response, which consisted of a text saying "I really don't like you right now." This is something I understand, but it also makes me mad that he's using my own favorite phrase against me.

Saturday night consisted of burritos and disco fries at Bomber's, then the roller derby bout, whcih was an absolute blast! I'm telling you, if you get a chance, definitely attend! It was pretty much exactly how I thought it would be, except the rink isn't on an angle like it usually is on TV. In our drunken haze Tre and I put together a kick ass roller derby team of our own. It's too bad no one can really skate anymore. They're doing an open call tomorrow night if anyone is interested!

The O's dropped four games to the Red Sox this weekend, which definitely helped to put a damper on things. The first three games were close, but the third was a blow out, and now we've got Melvin Mora on the DL, which is so not a high point.

Because one Kardashian reality show is never enough...

I've had a really hard time with my running lately, which is really unfortunate since I have to run my first 5K of the year on Friday. At least it'll be nice out, which I hope will help, not hinder my ability to run/jog/walk. I don't have very high hopes, as you can see!

Sorry I've been a slacker as of late. Last week was a ridiculously busy week and the weekend didn't allow much time for recovery. To all my pot smoking (and free burrito loving) friends.. Happy 4:20!

As we all know, I’ve been losing a little weight lately, which has made me venture into stores I might not normally try. Case in point: Last night I went into Express, thinking their size 14 jeans would probably fit me now. I mean, I’ve been a 14 in regular stores forever, but in Express, I’m still at the upper aeschylons of their size pyramid. So, I can’t find a 14 anywhere, and the girl (skinny of course) comes over to ask me if I’m having trouble finding my size. I jokingly ask “Yes, do you even sell 14’s?” Her response: No, we end at 12.” Um.. what? Seriously? I was kidding when I asked it, so I was not quite expecting her response. Luckily it was only me, my sister, my mother and my cousin around when she said it. I turned around, stunned (my Mom said you should have seen the look on my face) and to them I replied “Ok great.. apparently the fatty can’t shop at Express” and we left. I can only describe myself as beat red and mortified. I then went to the gym and did cardio for an hour.

If anyone has a spare winter jacket, let me know. The woman in the cubby next to me is going through the change, so she’s basically wearing her bathing suit, with a fan on her all day. She has complained about the heat, so now the A/C is jacked up and I’m going to be wearing sweaters to work all summer. It’s not my fault your body is rebelling and I shouldn’t have to suffer!

You have to give the girl credit for making fun of herself, even though she was probably high when doing so…

This is the book “The Easter Bunny” got me. Funny… However I think the Easter Bunny should have read the subtitle. I think I'm already at the point the book discusses.. Also at Easter, my Aunt made a comment about my sister and I having babies and getting old (basically, I paraphrased) to which I replied “Um.. it’s not for lack of trying.” You’d think I sit up in my room and play video games all day with no outside world contact the way they people talk. I get it, my eggs are dying.. thanks for bringing it up.

I’m VERY excited about Saturday night though.. A few of the girls I work with (and then some) have made plans to go to Roller Derby!! I’d heard about it a few months ago but then subsequently forgot about it. I never realized they had a team in Albany so I’m really looking forward to catching the bout! I used to watch a reality show on A&E ( I think it was called Roller Girls or something like that) and I LOVED it, but for some reason it got canceled after one season. Damn you A&E! So now I get to see it for myself on Saturday. They are having an open call for players next week, but I’m not very good on wheels so I think I’ll pass on this one.

Happy Hump Day!!!

Let's try to recap the weekend a bit..

Friday night was my roll-off for bowling.. I did OK and we ended up winning, as did Jason's team, so yeah.. guess who got to babysit for who (I'll give you a hint.. I drove). The night was... entertaining.. at times. Mainly, I just wanted to get home and eventually, I managed to drag him out of the bar by promising Tre I'd come back and get her. How he felt decent the next day I have no idea. And don't ask if we're together.. it's a question I can't answer..

Saturday was a pretty mellow day, starting with a wonderful breakfast with C. Howe (Ah, Ambrosia) and night, which felt nice, and was a good preparation for Easter. We went to Lippera's in Chatham for thier buffet which was FANTASTIC! I didn't eat all day prior to dinner and the whole family got their money's worth but we sure did pay for it. I ate so much that I was pretty sure I was going to puke... but I mean that in a good way. All the food was phenomenal and the choices seemed to be endless. I almost couldn't have any dessert at my Aunt and Uncle's later on.. but I forced a cookie or two down anyway.

Tre was busy on her first day of vacation.. She made a bank deposit for me AND ordered DirectTV, which will be installed on Wednesday. I'm real excited about it, but concerned. We're really not going to be home tomorrow night, so there'll be shows I taped that I'm going to lose. I've also had Cal Ripken's Hall of Fame induction ceremony on my DVR for almost two years, and now I'm going to lose it. Granted, I haven't watched it since it aired (as I haven't been in the mood to bawl my brains out), but I liked knowing it was there.. Still, there's the option of having the MLB package, so I could watch a lot of O's games.. We'll see what happens..

One of my favorite housewives had dinner with one of my least favorite baseball players.. SOOOO not happy.. Don't get me wrong, she could do worse.. I'm just not a fan..

ROCK OF LOVE SPOILER for those who have yet to see the finale.. He chose Taya.. Seriously? I have nothing more to say but WTF? God, I can't wait for the reunion show.. I haven't seen any advertisements for it, but there's no way they can NOT have one.. I mean, can you imagine what Ashley will have to say about Taya winning? That's good television.. Regardless, I'm happy (and a little disturbed that I AM happy) to point out that Daisy of Love will premiere on the 26th.. I know she had some issues, but Daisy was one of my favorites on last season of Rock of Love. I mean, I wanted Ambre to win, but if Daisy had, I wouldn't have been broken hearted!

I'm beat. I'm running 2 miles straight every other day and when I do it at the end of the day as opposed to the morning, I'm just drained.. I hate running, but considering what I'm eating lately, I need to run in order to keep the weight off! I have to go shopping tomorrow night (yes.. have to) but I plan to go to the gym on my way home.. I guess it's a perk of joining a gym that's open past 8:30.. I know 2 miles isn't much, but when you have stubby legs like me, it's a big deal!!!

Something to keep you entertained on this Good Friday. Sandra sent this to me, with the email title being: from one frequent bridesmaid to anotha..
You have to love optimism...

Happy Friday!!! and of course, Happy Easter!

Not that I didn’t already know this, but I think I have insane OCD. I’ve been eating Starburst jellybeans like it’s my job as of late, and I’ve realized that I can’t eat them unless they’re all in even numbers. What I mean is, I eat the ones I have the most of, until I have the same number of each color in my pile. The scary thing is, it’s taken me this long to realize I do it. I wonder if it’s just a starburst jellybean thing, or if I do it with other such things, like Skittles or M&M’s. Weird..

So, Monday night I joined Planet Fitness up in East Greenbush, as they were having their “Join for $1, then $10 a month sale.” Yeah.. I joined, as did 1000 other people.. I’m not kidding.. ONE THOUSAND people joined during the past week of this promotion. I guess that’s the point, however the staff was slightly rude and not really helpful when I joined. I’m sure they were crazy stressed what with the numbers, but that’s your job so at least fake that you’re happy to see me. Anyway, when no one even told me where the locker room was and I couldn’t see a free machine for miles, I simply listened to the O’s-Yanks game on the way home (SUCK IT CC and BOO TEIXEIRA), and then watched it while on the treadmill. And what a game it was. I don’t care what anyone says.. nothing feels better than beating the Yankees.. except maybe beating the Red Sox.. hmm.. NOPE.. not even that! And to beat them again last night, even after a 9th inning rally was just priceless! I’m not getting my hopes up, but if we could pull out a sweep today, I think my year would PROBABLY be made (cause my expectations really aren’t all that high!). I love my O’s, but I still live in reality..

Anyway, since I rudely interrupted myself, I stayed away from the gym on Tuesday, since I could run at home and catch up on The Hills (Holy sucker punch Spencer, but that’s a whole ‘nother post for a whole ‘nother day). My friend Heather met me at the gym on Wednesday night and while it was pretty packed, I managed to get an elliptical pretty quick, so I was happy. I’ve realized the later I go, the better it is, but since I’m coming from work that’s not really an option that I have. Then again, for $10 I really shouldn’t expect much! It IS a nice gym with lots of equipment and I think once the hubbub behind the promotion dies down, it’ll work out just fine!

I’m already in love with the Real Housewives of New Jersey. There was a preview on Tuesday night, and once I started watching, I couldn’t go to bed (even though I REALLY wanted to). It’s very inbred, but I think that gives it an interesting dynamic. Caroline, the “head” housewife really scares the crap out of me, and I think I want to be Dina when I grow up.. I believe it starts in May, so keep your eyes open!

Rescue Me started on Tuesday night and I swear, I laughed my ass off the entire time. I didn’t realize how much I missed Denis Leary, and most of all, Sean and Probie.. I know people probably are that dumb in real life, but I don’t know how they could possibly make a living..

The High School Reunion finale was very… anticlimactic! They all went to the prom, some with two dates, some with one, and while it seemed like everyone had a good time, it was kind of boring! The expected happened, even with the creative editing in the previews. Scott and Maricela talked about seeing each other after the reunion, Tom and Kara talked about getting back together and even got a few extra days in Hawaii to tend to their relationship (or as Sandra would say “christen every room in the reunion house”). Drew might not have gotten Lynette, but she did lay one on him at the prom, which I’m sure the production crew (or other reunionites) had NOTHING to do with. Liz and Chad won prom king and queen and everyone went their separate ways as lovey-dovey as could be. And I think I have a crush on Dennis… ya know, since Tom’s taken..

In the vein of total geekdom, Leonard Nimoy is coming to Fringe.. He seems like a great foil for the doc, don’t you think? Fringe FINALLY came back next week, and I have to say, it didn't disappoint. Also, am I the last one to realize Olivia's sister is being played by the insanely drunk best friend from Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist? My brain isn't working this week..

Scott Macintyre was finally ousted from American Idol last night, which I think was just a few weeks too late, as I still wish Alexis Grace was there to plead her case. I guess he literally did plead, but it was to no avail. How ironic that he sang a song by Survivor, huh?

David Alan Grier got the boot on DWTS this week, while Steve-O never even made it into the Dance-off. Granted, his dancing has vastly improved, but unfortunately, a vast improvement isn’t much.. I’m thinking next week might be his week, which will be disappointing since I adore Lacey Schwimmer..

I almost forgot, but I have to tell you about my first experience with the Hudson Applebee’s: My sister was bringing home a chicken fajita rollup for me – no lettuce, no pico de gallo. JUST chicken and cheese. It’s not that hard. She got there around 5:30 and got done with her meal around 7, when she realized the waiter never put in the To Go order. She reminds him, no biggie. He brings out chicken fajitas. Strike one – She sends it back. The next time he brings out a chicken fajita rollup… loaded with lettuce… Strike two. She’s like “yeah, I can’t bring this home” so she sends it back again. Third time he comes out, everything looks ok, so she takes it home. When she gets home with it, I open it up and there is lettuce everywhere. Apparently they just took out enough lettuce to make it look like they took out the lettuce. Now, my sister is pretty mellow, but she got right on the phone and asked to speak to a manager (so not her style). When she did get one on the phone she calmly told him what happened and also told him that she wasn’t trying to be an asshole, but that the situation was kind of ridiculous. He felt terrible and let her know that night had been the worst they’ve had since the opening. He asked what he could do and ended up giving her a $20 gift card to Applebee’s, which is never a bad thing. It sure does bring people back, doesn’t it? So guess where happy hour is tonight!?

Monday, April 06, 2009

I had a great weekend, but I don't really have a lot to say about it!

I bowled well on Friday night.. went out for a few drinks and all around had a good time. Saturday morning I watched Zach and Miri Make a Porno (love love love) and cleared out my DVR. Headed out to Meadowgreens around 5 to watch the basketball games and even though my brackets turned into a mess, I had an absolute blast! There were so many people there that I didn't expect to see and somehow, I barely spent any money. It seemed every time I turned around there was another drink in front of me. THAT is a good night! I got to spend a little time with Chris and other friends I don't get to see as often as I should (especially since they actually live here), so that was nice! All in all, it was a great night! Tre, Danny, Chris and I met for breakfast on Sunday morning which was just what I needed to kick start my day. Tre and I then FINALLY watched the Damages season finale, which was awesome! There were things you thought had happened, even though you knew they couldn't have, but you still weren't 100% sure what the hell was going on, and I dig that. Let's just say, Patty Hewes is always a step ahead! Now that Damages is over, I'm crazy excited about the return of Rescue Me tomorrow.. 22 new episodes!!

I'm watching DWTS and I have to say, I really love it when they dance the paso doble. It's so sexy, even if the hot man is wearing high waisted pants... ONLY high waisted pants.

Speaking of dancing, what the hell is up with this?!

Like we haven't heard this before..

So... is Slade Smiley like, the biggest Real Housewives of Orange County whore ever? Now he and Gretchen are in love.. but she's still wearing Jeff's ring.. As scary as it is, I almost like this pairing.. I guess he got over that whole "I want Jo back" thing.. He's found another slightly famous beauty to be a fame whore with. Good God I love Bravo and the incest they promote!

What a great opening day at Camden Yards!!! The O's pulled it out against the Yanks, winning 10-5, with a great offensive showing by my man, Brian Roberts. I've already heard from every Yankee fan in the world how it's the last time that will happen, blah blah blah.. Maybe it is, but an Opening Day win against CC Sabathia and a not so great showing by Mark Texeira... I'll take it!

Hope you all made it through your Monday!!!

I will agree that there are plenty of times that women are nothing but catty bitches, present company included.. But then there are times when one woman feels another woman's pain...

Case in point.. I am wearing what can only be described as the most adorable Nine West sandals ever made. Patent leather peep toes with two buckles.. they're sort of dominatrixy, but in an appropriate for work way. So, this morning (as usual) I slathered lotion on my dry spots, not remembering that for the first time in months, I'm not wearing socks or pantyhose. Hence, my feet have SLID out of these adorable shoes all day. I ran out to the car to get my bag, and girl from another office was holding the door for me. I was still quite a ways away when she started to hold it so I simply said to her "I'm really sorry.. I would move faster, but I can't in these shoes." She held the door and smiled and said "I completely understand."

Yep... every once in a while.. women are kinda cool... (except for me.. I'm cool WAY more than once in a while)

HAPPY ALMOST FRIDAY!
As much as I'm really thrilled about the outcome, I'm not so thrilled that I'll have to watch Lifetime... on purpose..

I think I like the David Archuleta song "A Little Too Not Over You" a little more than someone of my age should.. and I'm kind of ashamed..

I'm totally on Team Bethenny - Such a no-brainer..

Can someone say "on-again, off-again?" Guess what.. off again!!!

This makes me want to (and I quote America's Next Top Model) vomit blue and die.

I'm heading out to happy hour tonight, so I wanted to give you a little something to chew on. C. Howe.. have a safe trip and I'll see you Saturday!!!! My camera is charging as we speak!
